Something I alluded to way back when was the potential idea of directing missions for Jedi and others to participate in. Now with the existence of the new Jedi Temple creating a fresh slate for the Jedi Order, I want to try to get rolling on this, but first am looking for input. To get this out of the way early on, as that post states, it'll be a system for all types of writers to get involved in as well. The reason I call it a " Jedi Mission Board" is because each mission will be framed from the standpoint of "there's a happening, Jedi are sent to do something about it," giving the idea that Aerandir or the Council personally assigned Jedi these tasks. The basic idea I have so far is this: - I post a scenario with the basic plot and a general idea of what personnel we need. Say, a couple of Jedi are sent to investigate a criminal ring's rumored mutation experiments. I would need a Jedi team, plus people willing to write the criminal ring, whether the ringleader, or henchmen, or the mutants themselves. - People respond to the scenario, stating their interest and what roles they'd like to play. Third parties, joining out of their own interests, are entirely welcome as well. - A start date is picked, a more solid outline of the premise is established, and the RP begins. - Other than the setup, the missions will be otherwise unscripted scenarios. What I want to see is how interested the community is and if we can get some discussion going on how to refine the formula before we begin. A couple questions I have off the bat: - Should I flesh out the antagonists' scenario more? For example, in the situation above, should I go into detail about the organization and the mutants, or discuss that with the participants, or even leave it to the antagonists entirely to determine? Perhaps a case-by-case basis? - Should we even have some sort of roster for each mission? I want to leave things open-ended despite each specific scenario, i.e. Jedi maybe needing to call in backup, or even the antagonists or third-parties. An "initial roster" might be handy but I'm not sure. - How often should we hold these? I'm thinking perhaps once a month to start, and adjusting based on success. Very eager to hear your thoughts and feedback because I think this could potentially be a great way to liven up the boards. Little bite-sized skirmishes and investigations and stuff to mix in with all of our sweeping storylines. What do you guys think? |

I like it. As a Council member, I would consider it an honored service to act as a quest giver when needed.
I read back in the "jedi archive(d)" thread and saw someone said. I thrive in a more directed storyline with collaborators who know what motivates them; im not great at spontaneous RP at all. So this is great!

I really like the idea and I’m sure there will be missions that put the Sith and Jedi into the mix against each other. Should add the chance for groups to rp together and adds a greater sense of realism to it since Jedi would be going out on missions and not just standing around doing whatever.

I like it. I think it would be a good thing. I might participate in a SL or two if the opportunity for a 1 shot baddie is needed. I have no interest in the ongoing day to day RP of a character, but I'm more than happy to be your fill-in villain.

In addition to playing Veri for 1 off's, I'll even go so far as to give you your first mission.
Sinistra deserves a grand demise. Get your board up and I'll post the mission dossier to find and eliminate one of the Order's oldest threats.

We talked about it in chat and I’m totally on board with that mission. I’m also on board with the mission board as a whole, I’ve just been to lazy to actually say it. I think it’s a good idea to give the Jedi something to do as the galaxy slowly falls dark, add some nice fighting back and sparks of good and all that.

Let's strike while the iron is hot then! As I said in that thread, please allow Sinistra to provide further details before posting your interest in that RP, but feel free to use this thread (as in the one you're currently reading) to discuss the format as well! I think most missions will probably have a similar format as this one: Titled with the RP, noted that it's part of the mission board, etc. Only thing I'm hung up on is whether or not to keep an "index" thread as well, with links to each board posting. Maybe a bump every time there's a new one.

So wanted to see if the Jedi wanted to do a mission that ran them into Kelam. Up from pretty much anything. Anywhere that the Jedi would most likely go to quell a problem would most likely have Kelam going around trying to eliminate. Also up for nearly any situation, be it just a fight to stop him or seeing what he's doing as a way of enactibg justice upon evil men, so attempting to redeem him (which won't happen), create a scenario where Kelam finally goes from just wanting to remove evil people from the galaxy to realizing that none can escape the darkness and begins seeking to eliminate all life in the galaxy, whatever yall are up for.

I've also been looking into doing a couple little bits that could and would involve the Jedi. The first will be coming up soon after her new ship gets finished, though I can jump ahead to that if anyone wanted to get this one ready. Luxeria's investments have not gone unnoticed by her family and though they are rich and aren't actually hurting from it, the are now questioning what she's doing. They get in touch with where she's supposedly working on Naboo and they find out that sh was never working there. They contact her, requesting her to visit and so she does to keep up her facade. Arriving, it becomes clear that they know she's not doing what she says and have noticed the purchases, though not what she's bought. Questioning begins and argument starts. It is here that Luxeria realizes she can't continue her illusion. While possessing the Memory Rub technique, she can't erase her existence because too many people know of her, and even if she just removed everything they discovered, it wouldn't be long before they'd discover it again. So, while in another room, she uses her power to cause her father to murder her mother and kill himself. She plays out the innocent, and is able to eliminate herself as a suspect. If any Jedi want to be involved and jump in to try a sort out the murder, suspecting something amiss with it, then try to hunt her down for an encounter, let me know.
The second is Luxeria and Vasari returning to Felucia. With her new ship, they'd be able to pass through due to the stealth systems equipped. Their goal is to find a certain plant that grows around the Ancient Abyss that could be broken down into a poison. While getting to the surface would be easy enough with her systems, once there, there are chances that they could be discovered enough to warrant an investigation. Being a cloak that blinds her ships sensors, she'd have to disengage it before activating the jamming suite to keep them hidden. On top of that, there's the chance of the presence being felt at some point. While both are capable of hiding or reducing that presence, there's always something that could happen that would require an elevation in that presence that would send the Jedi their way.

Looks like the Hunt for Lord Sinistra story was going well... until writers vanished. Jair was working on an idea that could've been purposed as one, but I think he got busy over the holidays. Not the most encouraging start, I admit, but I'd like to try to get this rolling again. Something more small-scale this time. Simple setup, simple directive. I vaguely remember an idea I'd had while coming up with this, before deciding to let the Hunt for Sinistra launch this system. I'll have to do some digging to see if I mentioned it in a chatroom anywhere, and formulate it some more... |

There are a few small options I presented before that are small over all that could be done involving Lux and Vasari's secret return to Felucia for planet(one I intend to add my Jedi into to die in) and the investigation into the death of Luxeria's parents after she kilks them.

Considering I'd like to get the whole 'Jedi vs Sith' theme going a bit more, I am certainly down to help come up with ideas as well. Once I have a few ideas, I'll pitch them here.
