Victory II-class Star Destroyer

Being produced as a successor to the Victory I-class Star Destroyer, the Victory II-class Star Destroyer was often deployed in pairs as sector patrol during the times of the Galactic Empire, thus being able to hunt down Rebels and pirates efficently and to pacify entire sectors in order to maintain order within the Empire's borders.
Due to the addition of improved engines the Victory II overcame a main weakness of the previous ship class, as they became faster and more maneuverable during space combat, thus making them still a valuable asset even after the fall of the Empire. At least one Victory-II class Star Destroyer was sighted in service of the Imperial Remnant during the Yuuzhan Vong War at the Battle of Borosk.
Its weapon systems feature 20 turbolaser batteries (each battery consisting of 6 single cannons) , 20 double heavy turbolaser cannons and a compliment of 24 TIE Fighters. Due to the withdrawal of concussion missile banks from the previous ship class, the Victory II-class furthermore possessed 10 heavy ion cannons and 10 tractor beam projectors, allowing the Star Destroyer to capture enemy ships without damaging them in the process. A crew of 5,881 men normally operated on the ship in order to keep it fully functional wheras 226 gunners were seen as the normal compliment, which was required to launch every weapon system on board. Unlike most Star Destroyers the Victory-class Star Destroyers were able to operate more efficently than other Star Destroyers within planetary atmosphere, thus making them also viable for planetary defense and ground support.
