Its armor heavy and strong enough to perform ramming tactics, such as those recorded to be performed during the Great Galactic War. One record indicates one such transport ramming into a Republic battlestation, taking out multiple decks before being destroyed by its ramming action.
Overall, this vessel is not known for its firepower, but rather for its defensive abilities and carrying capacity when it came to transporting troops and starfighters to various battlefields across the stars. Its armament is no more than 8 turbolaser cannons. Its carrying capacity stands to be 1,000 troops and a squadron of 12 starfighters. However, configurations can be done to dedicate Gage-class Transports to be either purely troop or starfighter transports. In such cases, a troop transport configuration can carry 2,000 troops while a starfighter focused configuration can carry 24 starfighters.
