The tempo of the Force suddenly sped up to breath-taking speeds. Adelle barely managed to dodge the first couple strikes before she fell into a Soresu-like defense, moving with Na'an as she moved. Even so, Na'an moved blindingly fast. A hit landed just left of her sternum. She grunted and blocked the next few until Na'an mentioned Aherk. Adelle paused and another fist found her lower ribs. Na'an did not let up, still throwing haymakers."I just—"Adelle ducked left."—Can't—"She blocked the swing."—Risk that—"Using a touch of Force Speed, Adelle grabbed Na'an's wrist with both hands, bringing her right elbow to rest on top of the other woman's. She stepped forward and brought her elbow down, keeping a tight grip on the wrist near her own neck. If it worked, Na'an's arm would be locked, she would fall, and Adelle would have all the leverage."And you think facing Aherk alone would do you any good? You think it'll heal you? Give you some closure?"

Na'an staggered as Adelle latched onto her fist and locked her arm, losing her leverage. Her knees hit the steel hard, and she could feel the skin on one split and start to bleed a little, but for the moment there was no pain. She still had an arm free, and she used it to latch onto Adelle's nearest foot, yanking it out in front of her to pull Adelle down too. Almost immediately she could feel her arm break loose of the lock, letting her use it to push back to her feet.
"It's not just that he's there that's the problem!" she said, breathing hard. "It's that he's there, and he's hurt, badly. And he's there with Rutil. They're together, I'm sure of it, and neither of us can figure out how any of that fits."
She cocked her foot back for a kick, but did not release it; her arms came up in front of her again in the defensive position. "Don't tell me you'd drag someone you cared about into that mess willingly!"
Leigh had been silent from the moment they entered the bunks, preferring to watch the scene as it unfolded, but Na'an was being unfair. "No one is dragging anyone into anything. She chose to get on this ship, same as you and I did."
She didn't expect Na'an to round on her in response. "That's not the same and you know it!" she said heatedly. "Is it just too goddamn much for me to want to keep one thing sacred? Rutil's the last one left, and I'm just supposed to throw Adelle in after him?"
"That is not what I mean."

Adelle staggered and fell to one knee as Na'an yanked one of her feet out from under her. She lost the grip on the arm lock, allowing the other woman to break free and scramble to her feet. Na'an cocked a foot back for a kick. Adelle raised her arms to catch the foot as it came forward. But it never did. She let Na'an and Leigh have it out for a moment then launched herself at Na'an, getting in Na'an's face and holding either side of her jaw gently.
"Na'an." She tinged the name with the Force to grab Na'an's full attention. The steel grey iris met hers. "I chose to follow. I am here as support only." She released Na'an's face and stepped back to allow the woman some room. "You've had a bad feeling about this for a while. I'm coming to make sure you survive. Unless you have a complete and sterilized set of field surgery equipment."

Na'an had been too distracted by Leigh to react until Adelle was already up. Then there was no escaping it: Adelle had her by the face, using the Force in her voice in a completely unexpected move. Na'an froze like a rabbit in the grip of a fox, eyes locked on her face with a sudden helpless look. " Na'an." She tinged the name with the Force to grab Na'an's full attention. The steel grey iris met hers. "I chose to follow. I am here as support only." She released Na'an's face and stepped back to allow the woman some room. "You've had a bad feeling about this for a while. I'm coming to make sure you survive. Unless you have a complete and sterilized set of field surgery equipment." Na'an's frozen state held for just a little longer after Adelle let go. Then she blinked rapidly, and lurched forward for her hands. The healer's palms had been warm against her face, and were warmer still encased in hers, like the air around a candle in the dark. "...Don't be so good to me at your expense," she finally said, quietly. As she spoke, she couldn't meet Adelle's eye again, instead focusing on their hands. "And if you're going to follow me, don't do it uninformed. Too many people have died, or had their lives gone to shit, just for being around me."She stepped back and took a deep, breath. "Rutil and Aherk," she said again. "Neither of them should be there. Both of them are. And something's got Aherk in a bad way. Which means we could be walking into anything...and the only one they asked for was me."

Na'an looked intently at their hands and Adelle watched her face with the same focus. Her rigid stance and wide-eyed expression of a few moments ago relaxed somewhat as her whole body seemed to breathe. Her thumbs wrapped around Na'an's as she spoke. Adelle listened to every word she said and the words she left unsaid.
"I understand." Adelle cocked her head to consider Leigh then met Na'an's gaze again. "I'm only your healer this time around. Your 'doc.' You think it's about to get nasty, I'll get back on the ship. But neither of us will take unnecessary risks. Agreed?"
She held out her hand for Na'an to shake on it.

Na'an didn't respond at first; just looked at the hand in hers with the same painful, helpless expression. Then she lurched forward again--not to shake Adelle's hand, but to wrap her arms around the Healer, pinning her arms to her side in a hard embrace. She buried her face in Adelle's shoulder, suddenly awash in a sweet, spicy smell like Corellian whiskey. The embrace lasted only a couple of seconds, not nearly long enough for Adelle to wiggle loose or return it, and then Na'an was backing off, turning back towards the door with a red face and a quiet mutter about going to the storage hold to check on her gun. From the corner, Leigh watched with an utter lack of surprise. Adelle was a good person. She knew Adelle was a good person, by any metric, and Na'an would know the same. Na'an would agree to this, in time, if only because they had no other choice. However, once they were alone, she had a feeling she and her partner would still be discussing protective contingencies.
They were walking into a situation where any uninvited guests could be considered expendable. It would be their job to make sure that Adelle was not.

Adelle blinked, an earthy scent like a fresh fallen rain flooding her senses as Na'an wrapped her arms tightly around her sides. Really, it was all she could do. Na'an had buried her face in her shoulder, the heat from her skin and her breath warming the fabric of her shirt. Just as suddenly, Na'an fled the room as she muttered beneath her breath. Adelle watched her leave, her mouth slightly ajar as she tried to work out what had just happened. In the years she had known Na'an, physical touch was not the woman's strong suit. Bemused, she looked at Leigh, her jaw working to get out words. Finally her brain latched onto a single word.
"What?"

Leigh had moved aside to let Na'an out of the room; she smirked from the corner now, only milliseconds from real laughter. You are the one who insisted on removing the doctor-patient barrier, Ms. Bastiel," she said smugly. " But I would not worry. Given enough time, she is not that difficult to understand from this angle."

"No, I—" Adelle cut herself off, trying to gather her thoughts. Na'an had always seemed so uncomfortable with simple physical touches before. The awkward moment they had shared in Na'an's borrowed freighter came to mind. The sudden embrace seemed unusual for Na'an. And then she ran, as if embarrassed or ashamed of her actions. The scent of her hair lingered in Adelle's nose and she could almost feel where Na'an's arms had been, where she had rested her face in her shoulder. Could almost feel the heat of her body again. Adelle rubbed her face and tried to put into words everything she felt about the embrace.
"I didn't think she hugged people," Adelle said at last. "I don't even know why she hugged me."

"Tactile contact is fundamental to a healthy human psychological state," Leigh responded. "It is often the last remaining mode of expression to your species, when you are overwhelmed or lack other mediums of communication." She looked out into the hall, making sure that Na'an was long gone, then returned to Adelle with a smile that held something like mischief. "If someone like her...hugs... someone, it is because she feels that she both can, and that she needs to. Beyond that, I cannot say."
If her shoulders could move in that direction, she would have shrugged.

Adelle frowned, Leigh's projected smile saying far too much and not articulating enough for her liking. She looked out the doorway into the hall where Na'an had disappeared.
"Can and needed to," Adelle muttered. She turned back to Leigh. "Should someone check on her? Now that... whatever that was is out of her system?"

"Now you're just toying with me." Adelle moved to the bunk and picked up the pack she'd left on the mattress when Na'an had entered. Their spar had disturbed very little of the items she'd laid out for packing. She checked the contents of the pack and hooked it onto the utility belt, moving onto the next pack. Every time she breathed though, she could smell that earthy rain scent surrounding Na'an. Adelle took in deep breaths, allowing the room's normal scent to filter through her nostrils. With that taken care of, she focused on the task at hand.
"In all honesty, you probably should see that she's not beating herself up," she said. "She seemed flustered."

Having finished his check of the ship, Z'har was now certain they would not all die during the jump to hyperspace. He headed back into the front loop of the ship, & as he was re-locking the access hatch, one of the women marched by him to into the storage area. She looked rather embarrassed to his eyes, but sometimes it was hard to tell. A moment later he tapped lightly on the hatch to the room they were bunking in. He didn't want to walk in on anyone changing.
-Z'har Everything alright in there?

Adelle looked up at the tapping on the door. That was not Na'an. It was too light and not her way. When Z'har asked his question, it made more sense.
"Yes, we're all set back here, captain," she said.

Z'har shrugged, though the occupants of the room wouldn't be able to see it.
-Z'har Well, we will be jumping to hyperspace shortly if anyone wanted to join me on the bridge.

A violent swirl of interspace energy cut a hole a mile and a half wide across the hyperlanes outside of Felucian orbit. The energy stabilized to form a hypergate through which two Rendilli Hammerhead corvettes emerged, they took flanking positions over a wide berth of empty space and moments later a modified Rendilli Hammerhead-Class Cruiser emerged from the gate filling the void between the two vettes perfectly. A hesitation... and then a third Hammerhead Corvette limped from the gate only moments before it destabilized and crashed upon itself, the third vette obviously barely remaining in the sky limped close to the Cruiser as if the larger vessel would bare it some level of protection.
Upon the bridge of the Hammerhead Crusier, designated 'The Gadriel'alora'lya', Commander Riley stood with his arms clasped firmly behind his back. His gaze was locked upon the planet below with a thin smile etched upon his lips. After nearly a decade and a half the crew of Gadriel's fleet was finally home. Riley had had nearly a week on the journey home to grow used to his position, and his orders... and while his eyes turned from the planet to the Military Platform he raised an eyebrow slightly.
"Well now... that's new...Comm, open channel to the space station and to the Jedi Base on the planet, I'm not sure who is charge these days. I suppose it's to much to ask for Carnel to still be there...."
::Attention, attention... this is Commander Riley of the Felucian Conclave Flagship 'the Gadriel'alora'lya', designation changed from Alya's Hammer at the time under command of Commander Nakor. Transmitting last known clearance code now...
Dear lord that clearance code was nearly two decades old, from a time when a dark being known as Ramius had taken control of nearly half the planet and made war against the other half. It had taken the combined power of the newly formed Felucian Conclave as well as aid from two other beings... Macros and Kalis, to stop the mad man from destroying the world completely, and taking the Felucian Jedi with him. Gadriel, his wife Raven, and both of their armies had fought in that war, even Riley himself. As he waited for his clearance code to be challenged or answered he ordered a scan of the rest of the system. The fleet that once protected this system was no where to be seen, however the personal fleets of the Jedi below may be somewhere in the system.

*Culex was an AI of simple tastes: Any game that looked interesting to play, he played at earliest availability. And there were a small handful that had just been announced. Unfortunately, a handful of those forwent traditional controls—something an AI could easily emulate—in favor of an odd gesture-based system that Culex, even in his holographic state, could not possibly utilize. It was a bit of a shame, but on the other hand, he wasn't all too into the minigame that centered around milking a bantha... What were they thinking?!
His gaming habits were often questioned by the organics on the station, but fortunately they never saw it as a problem. Video games were oddly therapeutic to the AI, after customer service nearly fried his circuits. Truly, he hadn't entirely recovered, but this routine orbital control work was no stress on his programming whatsoever.
Speaking of, several ships appeared in orbit, of a quite old model, hailing control and transmitting... clearance codes that were almost as dated as the ships.* :: Gadriel'alora'lya, we have received your transmission and are processing your request, please hold. :: *Culex ran the codes as well as the previous names of the ship and its commander through all known databases. When the results came back, he realized why he had slightly recognized the ship name: It had once also been the vessel of Gadriel'ya, an important figure in Felucia's history, as well as that of the Jedi Base. The ship scans checked out, matching it with the known data, although even Culex was curious what brought them back to Felucia after all this time. His hologram appeared long enough to stroke his chin thoughtfully, even though no one was watching, then it vanished again.* :: What brings you back to Felucia? ::

Riley recognized the current of an AI's speech pattern at once, over the centuries brilliant men have attempted to make them sound more 'human', they have integrated the existence of emotion, conscious, perhaps even genuine thought but the one thing they could never truly get right was the voice. It was too perfect, too practiced accents or inflections aside the pronunciation of words unique and easily noticed to one trained to analyze speech patterns since he was 'hatched'. Riley nodded once more to the comm officer who opened the channel to the station once again.
::I am under orders from Captain Altair Sirraf... -no he will not be in your records or data banks, he assumed command of Gadriel's fleet from Commander Nakor upon his death, all proper dispatches to confirm rank have been transmitted now.::
He waited a few moments for the files to be transferred and processed, knowing it would take the AI only a matter of seconds to process the information, confirm its authenticity and then be able to process what he said next without question. He only hoped he was dealing with the intelligent sort, and not one prone to causing problems or taking attitude simply for the enjoyment of it.
::As you can see, we are what remains of Gadriel's defense fleet, and as he was one of the founding members of the Felucian Conclave and was tasked with the defense of this planet, and with his death that duty fell to his subordinates - thus to my Captain, and so to me.::
Riley straightened his back with pride at the weight of the lineage that currently rested upon his shoulders. The Planet below was now under his protection and the recognition of that caused a swell of joy to flood through him. He maintained his reserve however, allowing only the smallest of smiles to cross his lips as he gazed out the view port towards the planet below awaiting the response from the defense platform's AI.

*Culex had actually considered whether or not to search the records for one "Altair Sirraf" before the man claimed he wouldn't be in the records. This only made the AI a little more suspicious, but apparently this "Commander Riley" possessed the proper documentation to confirm their identities. After analyzing them for any potential malware, Culex received them and perused them, running several standard checks for authenticity and counterfeiting. To his relief, everything seemed to be in order.
Deciding everything checked out, Culex was almost ready to reply, though he paused as he listened to the Commander's brief little tale of Gadriel'ya, as well as what might have been pride at inheriting the post.* :: I know the feeling. I have inherited this duty myself, and... well actually it can be kind of boring. Very routine work. Not exactly difficult, at least. Gives me lots of free time, I suppose. When I'm not needed. I never waste time, but I— :: *They probably didn't care. Culex cut his ramblings short and switched back to a more "professional" tone.* :: Right. You've been clear for approach. Welcome back to Felucia. :: *One day, he'd find someone willing to engage him in extended conversation.*
