The Military Base is the home of the Felucian Defense Force. Founded by Commander Belac, it began as a modest facility that was expanded upon many times during its life. Eventually, it became home to the Felucian Jedi as well, and thus for a time became known as the Jedi Base. The Jedi would call the location home for many years, until a devastating surprise attack by the Sith, as well as reasons necessitated by Felucia's status as the home of the Jedi Order, led to the Jedi building a new Jedi Temple instead. They aided in restoration efforts of the Base, restoring it to its original function as a military base.

*Another class complete, which meant Morgan now had to find ways to occupy her new free time. She could go find where Terra was maybe, and see if she was up to anything. Or some other friend or family member. Or try something new today? Then again, there really wasn't much left around the base to investigate and explore anymore... that she was interested in anyway. But Terra hadn't seen those places or done those things... Then that would be her pl—* Big sister! *Morgan started to turn around and was immediately glomped by her younger sister Kayla. Morgan's eyes widened in surprise and was about to wrap her arms around her sister, but Kayla had already released her and stepped back, frowning at her.* No big sister, I wanted to jump on your back! *Morgan looked surprised at her "little" sister. Kayla seemed insistent on referring to Morgan as her "big" sister, despite the fact that Kayla was taller than her... and also two years younger than her. She also looked just like their father, and she still had the same really long, wavy hair that ended in a mess of curls at the bottom.* Why? *Kayla tittered and grinned.* So you could gives me a piggyback ride! *Morgan's eyes widened. Firstly, that didn't sound like a good idea... again, considering their size difference. And also strange; Kayla was usually so independent and tended to play with herself. Since when did she beg for piggyback rides from her older-but-smaller sister?* But Kayla, I'm littler than you! *Kayla, insistent, shook her head.* Nuh-uh, I'm littler! *Morgan sighed, then couldn't help but smile at her silly sister.* No Kayla, you're younger. I'm littler, because I'm smaller, but I'm still older than you. *Kayla frowned in response, and even pouted a little.* But I'm the little sister! *Poor, poor Kayla... She couldn't grasp the concept, could she? But she was six... she should have been able to easily. "Little sister" just meant "younger sister," not that Kayla was smaller than Morgan... which was far from the case. People often thought Kayla was older than Morgan, for that matter. Morgan shook her head and tried a new tactic.* Yes Kayla, but I'm the littler person. Got it? *Kayla didn't move for a moment, though seemed to ponder it in her silence before smiling.* Gots it! But I still wanna piggyback ride! *Without waiting for a response, Kayla ran around Morgan and tried hopping on Morgan's back. Morgan had no time to react, and yelped as the small-but-not-as-small-as-Morgan girl jumped up on her back.* Kayla— ! *Morgan struggled to hold the girl up for all of a second before falling to the floor, catching herself on her hands and knees as Kayla fell over the side and landed on the floor. They, still on the floor, looked at each other with wide eyes, then Morgan looked upon Kayla with a bit of concern as Kayla responded with a look of disdain. Then they both inexplicably began to giggle and laugh, just because of the silliness of it all. Morgan was actually happy to have shared this moment with her sister, though she hoped Kayla didn't try jumping on her back again anytime soon, and especially not without warning...*

Terra walked through the halls of the base, contemplating the rest of the day's activities. So far, things had been quiet and she hadn't had to do too much, but that was probably for the best after the day she had had yesterday. Rippers and rancor attacks with fun and games in between and lots of running around, all done in the nude to boot. She was glad that no one else in the base save for Jake and Morgan seemed to be aware of that...
Speaking of Morgan, she caught sight of the girl down the hall, with another girl and she smiled and quickened her pace when she saw them both on the floor, giggling. She couldn't say she was surprised, but she didn't recognize the other girl. Still smiling she knelt down."Hi Morgan! Who's got you this time?"

*Both of them had heard the sudden quickening of footsteps and looked up from their positions on the floor to see Terra coming after them. Kayla remained on the floor, but Morgan sat up on her knees, grinning as Terra knelt down by them to say hello and ask who "got" her "this time."* Hi Terra! This is— *And suddenly, Kayla was on her feet beside Morgan, looking Terra in the face with excitement and wonder.* Your name's Terra? Mine's Kayla! *Well, so much for Morgan introducing them, but she decided to complete her interrupted thought anyway.* —my sister. *She then stood up on her own feet next to Kayla, demonstrating the height difference. Then she turned to look at her sister and tilt her head upward slightly, as though to further drive the height difference home, then look at Terra again, smiling, though somewhat sheepishly.* ... my little sister. *In all her focus of accentuating the height difference despite their age difference, she'd forgotten that she had never even told Terra about Kayla. Or even vice-versa. Kayla probably just wasn't around when Morgan talked about Terra, or just plain not paying attention... which just made the sudden change of personality even more noticeable. Still, not that Morgan minded, and she only waited to see what Terra thought of the revelation of another sibling.*

Terra smiled at the younger girl, wondering just how many siblings Morgan had. And even though Kayla was younger than Morgan, she was still the taller one. Was everyone taller than Morgan? She giggled a little at that thought, deciding not to voice it out loud."It's nice to meet you, Kayla."She straightened up, adjusting the bag on her shoulder."So what are you two up to today?"

*When Terra told Kayla it was nice to meet her, Kayla gave a polite curtsy in return. When Terra asked what they were up to, Morgan was about to shrug and explain that she had no idea, but Kayla jumped forward and spread her arms.* I want Morgan to give me a piggyback ride because she's my big sister, but she fell down! *Morgan just stared at the back of her sister's head, uncertain how to respond to that. Now that she thought of it, Kayla often acted a bit younger than she was, and this was one such example. She was intelligent, she just chose to act a little like a smaller child sometimes. After a moment, she giggled and stepped forward beside her sister and addressed Terra.* That's why we were on the ground. *She then turned toward her sister.* I told you I'm not big enough for that, Kayla! *In response, Kayla pouted and turned toward Morgan.* But you're the big sister, so you should be able to! *... intelligent in most ways, anyway. Morgan wasn't going to try to hammer this point into Kayla's head anymore, and instead turned her head and grinned sheepishly at Terra.*

Terra giggled at Kayla's insistence that Morgan should be able to provide shoulder rides as the big sister, and it looked like they may have had this discussion a few times before. If that was the case, then Terra wouldn't say any more about it. She grinned down at Morgan."So what are you doing the rest of the day you two?"

*Morgan frowned when Terra asked what the two of them were doing the rest of the day. She... didn't know. Kayla and her never really spent any time together, though if they managed to be able to do something today... then that would be fun. But as it stood, Morgan had no clue what she would be doing the rest of the day, nor what Kayla would be doing. ... nor what she had been doing. Morgan looked at Kayla, then back at Terra and shrugged.* I dunno. I just got out of a class, but I dunno what to do next. And I just found Kayla, so I dunno what she's doing either... *She then looked at her sister, hoping she would answer the question. That was, if she recognized that as her cue... Which, thankfully, she did, as she smiled and nodded.* I's hiding from Mommy! Then I found Morgie and I wanted her to give me a piggyback ride but she wouldn't! *She stamped her foot and pouted, while Morgan stared blankly. It wasn't the insistence on getting a piggyback ride that made her stare, but more the fact that she was again running from her mother. Well, then again, Cassie was usually around her daughter, making sure she didn't get into trouble, and Kayla was often found far ahead of her mother, losing her then getting distracted by conversations or other situations, giving Cassie enough time to find her. Which meant that Cassie would appear in three... two...* Kayla, there you are! *Ah, a second early. Morgan and Kayla both turned around to see a woman with curly, dirty blond hair and hazel eyes approaching. She was walking hurriedly, but upon seeing Morgan she slowed slightly and looked a little more relaxed.* Oh, hi Morgan. How are you? *Morgan smiled and was about to answer, but Kayla jumped up at her mother's torso, seemingly without any effort; Cassie caught her, not surprised at all, as Kayla whimpered.* Mommy, Morgie wouldn't give me a piggyback ride! Even though she's my big sister! *Cassie frowned, though gave Morgan a sympathetic look before focusing on the child in her arms.* Well you're both still small, so if you tried to hop on Morgan's back, you'd probably just fall over. *Kayla whimpered again.* We did... *Cassie laughed softly. Morgan grinned then stepped aside so that she could look at both Cassie and Terra at the same time.* Terra, this is Cassie— er, my mom. Mom, this is my friend Terra. *Morgan was still not entirely used to calling Cassie "Mom" yet, but she was getting there, and correcting herself each time she slipped up. Come to think of it, she hadn't actually told Terra about Cassie before. She'd talked about her birth parents dying, and being adopted by her daddy, and Felucia being her mother, but she hadn't talked about her "mom." Or her "mama," Kory, for that matter. Oops. Looked like she still had a lot to tell Terra... But at least they were getting started on it?*

Terra smiled at the woman, introduced as Cassie. While she had met Morgan's father she had yet to meet her mother, whom Morgan hadn't actually told her about yet. Well they had been busy the last few days so she couldn't blame the girl for missing one or two details, but it also seemed like she had a fairly large family. She gave a slight bow as Morgan introduced her."Nice to meet you, ma'am."So far, she had met Aerandir, Jake, Kayla and now Cassie, and she wondered just how many other family members Morgan had yet to mention...

*As Morgan introduced the two of them, Cassie returned Terra's bow with a smile.* Nice to meet you as well. Morgan says she's been spending a lot of time with you. *Kayla, almost right on time, looked around at Terra with an awed expression.* New friend?! *She then wiggled free of her mother's arms and landed on her feet, then jumped a couple of feet forward so that her toes nearly touched Terra's, then looked up at Terra's face.* Will you be my new friend too?! *If Terra were to look at either Morgan or Cassie, she would see both of them giving her sheepish, apologetic expressions. Kayla was... very excitable, but at least she was friendly. Depending on how high one's patience was, Kayla could easily wear on someone quickly. Fortunately, neither of her parents seemed to have that problem... very often anyway. But maybe Terra would be fine; Morgan hadn't forgotten how forgiving she'd been of Morgan when she, well, wet Terra.*

Terra had noticed rather quickly that Kayla seemed to be on the energetic side, and she giggled as Kayla rushed over the instant that Morgan mentioned a "new friend" and the little girl loudly asked if she could be Terra's new friend as well. Looking down at the little girl, she smiled and nodded, seeing no harm in being friends with Kayla as well."Sure. We can be friends too."

*Morgan and Cassie both still weren't sure if Terra knew what she was getting into, though Cassie, having not known Terra at all, was far more concerned about her future welfare due to this decision. Kayla, meanwhile, was just so excited to hear that someone else would be friends with her. So excited, she beamed and leapt up at Terra like she had Cassie a moment ago and latched onto her.* Yay for new friends! *Morgan's and Cassie's eyes both went wide as Kayla leapt up at Terra, Cassie quickly moving forward to pry the girl off of Terra and set her on the ground, kneeling down to her level and looking her in the eye.* Kayla, you can't just throw yourself at people like that, especially people you don't know. Not everyone wants you to jump at them like daddy and I do. *Cassie then looked up at Terra with a reassuring-but-nervous smile.* I'm sorry about her. She's... easily excitable. *Morgan, suddenly thinking of a phrase she'd heard before, couldn't help but giggle and step forward.* Understatement of the year. *Cassie suddenly turned her head toward her, as though to give her a disapproving look... but she couldn't. Morgan wasn't wrong. Morgan still tried to restrain her smile regardless, but was failing spectacularly. Kayla, meanwhile, was more focused on the correction, and she pouted at her mother.* But Mommy, Terra says we can be friends! *Cassie was used to this kind of attitude from Kayla, having years of experience. While in the past she might close her eyes and take a deep breath first, here her expression was steady.* Yes, Kayla: Can be friends. But you've gotta get to know each other first. *Kayla's eyes widened, then she beamed.* Okay! *Kayla then spun toward Terra and took a few steps toward her.* So what do you wanna do first?! *... Cassie was, however, not yet a master of picking her words carefully with Kayla. Morgan giggled, quickly suppressing it; it probably wasn't a good thing to laugh at her mother's shortcomings, but Kayla was just too funny. She supposed, though, it would initiate a new set of tests for Terra: Tests of patience...*

Terra squeaked when Kayla suddenly leaped forwards, but she managed to keep her balance. Well that had been unexpected, and it seemed that Kayla being energetic really was an understatement. She had quite a bit of energy to spare all right. Still, Terra was going to try and stay patient with the girl.
She smiled at Kayla."Well...I'm not sure. What would you like to do, Kayla?"

*Morgan and Cassie were simultaneously amazed at Terra's patience and concerned for her future sanity as she asked what Kayla would like to do. Kayla seemed to think about this for a moment, and then she opened her mouth.* We could play dress-up! Oh but I don't have a lot of clothes and you're too big to fit in them. Oh I know! We could play tag in the gardens! Or hide-and-seek! Or we could run around in the jungle and climb trees, or we could go training or... or... Maybe go eat. *Morgan and Cassie, used to her rambling like this, could only watch and wait for Terra's response. Granted, this was a milder ramble, but it was only a taste of what was likely to come...*

Terra wasn't sure she was up for another day of running around in the jungle again, so maybe it would be best if they stayed inside. That is, if she could convince Kayla to stay inside in the first place. However, it didn't seem that Kayla had anything in mind at the moment, or rather couldn't lock onto a single option. Maybe it would be up to Terra to help figure something out, and she shrugged after a moment."Um...do you want to play in the gardens?"

*As soon as Terra completed her question, Kayla immediately beamed and nodded...* Okay, let's go! *... and then immediately took off down the hall in the direction of the gardens. Morgan giggled as she watched Kayla run off, then looked up at Terra.* She's very hyper. We don't have to run to catch her though, she'll just wait for us. *"And probably get mad at us for taking so long," she added in her thoughts. Morgan started to turn so that they could head toward the gardens after her, while Cassie approached Terra so she could speak to her.* I apologize ahead of time if she causes you any... more trouble. She's... quite a handful. *Morgan frowned to herself as she overheard Cassie, then, as she thought of something, she smiled and looked behind her as she walked.* Don't worry, Mom. Kayla's probably the least dangerous thing Terra's seen on Felucia. ... probably. *She giggled as Cassie's mouth seemed to work wordlessly for a moment, as though wrestling with some kind of retort before she finally smiled herself, albeit a bit sheepishly, and nodded her agreement. Morgan grinned and looked forward again, fairly confident Terra wouldn't find Kayla too much trouble. ... too much.*

The other Jedi in the Temple would sense Hesper's approach as she carried the wounded Kushiban in her arms. She made no efforts to hide her presence from the Force even though she knew that the Darksider was somewhere nearby. She rested her hand on his downy fur. He had gone from a muted grey to a soft white in colour, but his wounds were still serious. Eventually, the forest of fungi gave way to the outer perimeter of the Temple. The Temple was barely visible amongst the tall fungi. Many would have missed it, if the Force hadn't lead her straight to it.
"Help! Is there anyone here?!" She cried out as she made her way passed the door.
The building seemed to be deserted, but she could sense that there were others somewhere nearby. She looked around and found a large, half-buried rock in the courtyard of the Temple. She gently patted Tantin's head and went to sit down. Now that she was no longer running, she was able to focus on healing his wounds. To distract him, she decided to tell him a story.
"Shh... Little One, you are safe now. This is the Temple of the Jedi. Once, a very long time ago... so long ago that the galaxy was still young... no, that is terrible. Forgive me, Little One, but telling stories to Younglings was never my strong point." She coughed and cleared her throat again, "a long time ago, when the moons were still young and burned like the sun and the suns were cold and white... darkness lingered where all could see. It was a time of twilight and chaos. They were dark days when the only peoples existed survived by hiding away by themselves. Those who thought they were strong braved the elements alone, but many joined together and tried to live in harmony. They were able to brave the night and the cold, but they couldn't fight against the darkness that dwelt inside the hearts of others. The ones who stood and hid themselves viewed those who banded together as weak, those who banded together saw the attackers as savages. Many died then, so many that there aren't enough stars in the Heavens to match that number. Many fell to the darkness and peoples from all the worlds cried out together in search of guardians to watch over them. The Jedi were born, not from the need to overpower others, but to protect those that chose to live a life of peace. The Jedi are the guardians of the galaxy, they come to the aide of those in need. I do not believe in coincidence, Little One. It was the will of the Force that brought me to this planet and to the spot where you ship crashed. When you needed hope, it came to your call and brought me to you."

Tantin remained silent, unable to speak or move. After an eternity of running through the massive mega-fungi jungle that encompassed the planet, they came to a building. When they stopped he heard the person begin to speak. It was a woman's voices. Human, from the sound of it. He twisted his head, and his eyes opened up, the bright green meeting the bright blue of Hesper's own. His face formed a weak smile, and he put his paw on top of her hand.
Tantin spoke quietly, still very weak and in pain. "Thank you...for the story.....Are....you a Jedi?"
Tantin's eyes, past the pain and sadness, seemed to wish that it was true. That, despite what had happened, he had been found by someone of the Order, like his parents had wanted. Surely the loss of his transport would reach them, they might even think he was dead.
The young Kushiban's mind began to race as the reality of the situation began to set in. He would have to find a way to let his parents know he had survived, rescued by a Jedi, or something close.
Tantin began to stir, trying to get up. He bit his tongue as the pain from the wound on his side reminded him of the severity of his wounds, and he stifled a cry of pain. Being at the complete mercy of a stranger was strange, but for some reason Tantin trusted this woman completely. After all, she had saved his life, and was healing him using the Force. With a war going on, it was sometimes hard to find that sort of kindness in people.
Tantin's voice was still weak, though he felt he had to ask. "Did...anyone else...survive the crash?"
Again Tantin's eyes seemed to wish that someone had. He had a great empathy towards other beings, never seeing the bad in people, always the good. As was the way of children, but Tantin wanted to believe everyone was good at heart. It was a trait his parents had admired, but tried to warn him about.

Hesper looked down at the Kushiban. His furn had changed colour from ash grey to a blueish hue. She could sense that his breathing had slowed, and his body was not as rigid as it was earlier. Had her story worked in relaxing him? She turned her attention to his other injuries. The Kushiban's fur was stained with his blood, she had to pry her fingers through it to examine the skin beneath it. The gash on his side had stopped bleeding, and the edges of the wound were beginning to pull itself closed. This youngling was fortunate, very fortunate.
"Do not move so much, Little One. Your wound is still fresh. I have stopped the bleeding, but if you move too much it can re-open. My name is Hesper Calix, I was once a Jedi Master... well, I suppose that I still am though I do not serve any Order in particular anymore. Once, a long time ago, I felt the Force call me elsewhere beyond the walls of the Temple... one no different than the one that we are in right now."
She continued to stroke his fur. "There are more things to see and more lessons to be learned in the galaxy than one can learn studying literature in the archives. The Force will lead you to where it needs you to be. Have faith in the Force, Little One, for it brought me to you. As for the others, the other Jedi will tend to them. Do not worry, they are in safe hands."

Tantin, though having survived a near death experience, did not seem to understand the meaning of the phrase do not move, for he continued to squirm as he began to rapidly regain his strength. He was still in pain, but he would live. Even covered in his own blood, he seemed to just shake off the trauma of the crash and move on. Children were one of the Universe's great miracles.
"My name is Tantin....I was on my way to a Temple, to learn to be a Jedi.....My parents sent me....."
Tantin seemed to calm down a bit when Hesper began to stroke his fur. It was comforting, as was everything about Hesper. He laid his head down on her lap and sat still, surprisingly.
"I...don't know how to thank you..."
Tantin's ears lay down, covering up mostly of Hesper's lap, and his eyes looked downward, almost out of shame, but more out of failure. His fur became mottled, with dark greys and blues, as he went into a sort melancholy, for no apparent reason. Well, he could think of many reason, but none of them seemed to fit into the cause of this feeling he had in his gut and in his mind, that he was at a crossroads. He could not explain it....
