Crusader-Class Corvette Ship Class: Corvette Ship Role: Patrol/Anti-starfighter Ship Length: 200 meters Agility (A): 3 Defensive (D): 3 Offensive (O): 3 Speed (S): 3 Special Gear: 0 The Crusader-class corvette, also referred to as the Crusader-class gunship, was a warship in use during the Galactic Civil War. It was produced by Mandal Hypernautics and named after the ancient Mandalorian Crusaders. The Mandalorian corvette was similar in appearance to the Kandosii-type dreadnaught of earlier millennia, complete with sharp edges marking the superstructure. Made to counter starfighters and bombers, the Crusader-class corvette carried as many weapons as it could without compromising its space-worthiness. Crusaders were known to utilize an advanced point-defense weapon system that allowed the ships to actually shoot down enemy missiles or torpedoes before they damaged friendly ships. Armed with 12 laser cannons and 1 point defence cannon, the ship was crewed by 80 beings. This made the corvettes a valuable support addition to a fleet.

Hold on here. The crusader was known for having both extraordinary firepower & speed for its size (at the cost of a high price tag & structural weaknesses in the design).

I mean, the information itself states that it was made to counter starfighters and bombers with a later statement that it was good for shooting down torpedoes and missiles. It doesn't sound that extraordinary in terms of firepower against anything but small stuff.
Also, I am reading nothing about this extraordinary firepower and speed you are mentioning. 12 laser cannons and an advanced point defense system, sounds like a typical Corvette and screening/support vessel.

There is this: Propulsion systems The corvette was faster than any other similar ship of its time. This attribute, along with its large weapons-complement, made the Crusader an extremely pricey vessel Perhaps enough to bump up speed a point or so. But I kind of have to agree with Nic. The weapon count doesn’t really seem to indicate a stronger than usual offence. Seems more like a special feature or a higher defence might be required? The Lancer (another highly effective anti-fighter craft) has 20 lasers ... at nearly twice the size (lancer is 250m, Crusader scaling puts it closer to 100-120m).
admittedly, they are both in the same class. But the crusader is very nearly small enough to be a support ship (which is one of the reasons the version I shopped up while waiting for net was a support).

I don't see the trouble here. As has been said, nothing on Wookieepedia explains where you get the notion of having extraordinary firepower. I can certainly up the speed if that's the general consensus though?

It is extraordinary firepower in terms of acting as a support vessel against starfighters, bombers, and missile ordinances. I believe it did say that it was an advanced point defense system.

I have the original source for where wookiee says they got their stats. It says 15 Point defense laser cannons (technically, their wording is "2 point-defense laser cannon batteries +14 and 3 point-defense laser cannons +6"). Not really sure how the person that wrote the wookiee stats got only 1 PD cannon from that. Every gun on that design is made to shoot down fighters & bombers, not to hit bigger ships. That link might be useful to reference, however, because it's not a Wookiee link, it's not applicable for defining the stats of this ship. I just took the information that Wookiee gave and that was it. Not really much else to be done aside from what I have done.
