Naan seemed confused once more when Mary questioned her actions. Had she missed something? Naan tilted her head to convey her confusion before she spoke.
-Naan in Tusken- "It's a blood oath......We solidify the oath to one another with the mixing of our blood. The spirits of our ancestors will hold each other to our word and ensure we fulfill our promise, or we shall be swallowed by the Suns and burn for eternity."
Naan held the hilt of her knife out a little further to Mary. Blood began to seep more freely from her hand, but if there was any pain from the wound it did not show in her voice or through any of her actions. It was apparent this was not her first blood oath. Naan clenched her cut hand into a fist, and blood dripped down from it onto the ground.
-Naan in Tusken- "We can always make a sacrifice to the Suns to appease them for a successful battle, instead."

Mary hesitated for a moment, before she could decide whether to take the oath offered, she remembered she was still standing next a dead body ... in the middle of a crime scene. Taking the younger girl by the hand, Mary quickly pulled her outside the police barriers to keep from contaminating anything else. Turning to face the younger girl, Mary pulled off her right glove, her off hand. Pulling the two feet of durasteel that had once been a much larger vibrosword, but was now a short sword, Mary dragged the blade across her exposed palm. Clasping the other girl's bloody hand with her own, Mary took the oath.
-Mary (in Tusken) They outnumber the stars a thousand times over, but I swear to never stop fighting criminals wherever they may hide.

Naan stumbled just a bit as she was taken just outside the police barricades and once again was confused. Had she done something wrong? She soon perked up when Mary took out a blade of her own and watched as the blood began to seep from the new wound. Naan clenched her own wounded hand once more, and blood began to drip more freely onto the ground from her still gloved hand. She raised her hand to meet Mary's and grasped tightly, their blood flowing together and mixing to solidify the oath they were making to each other.
After Mary had sworn her oath Naan released the older woman's hand and with the still bloody knife cut off a piece of cloth from her robes and cut that strip in half. She tied the piece of dirty cloth around her bloody gloved hand then held the other piece out to Mary. There was something about her words that had caught her attention, a word she was not familiar with.
-Naan in Tusken- "What's a criminal?"

Mary had to think for a minute about how to best describe the conflict between Law & Crime. She used those minutes to quickly bind the wounds on both of their hands, she didn't have a real medic pack, something she would have to fix soon, but she was adept with scraps of cloth.
-Mary (in Tusken) The clan that did this. There are two Great Clans in the galaxy. There is the Clan of Law, who protect & guide the weak. The second is the Clan of Crime, who hurt the weak & innocent. Everyone in the galaxy is in one clan or the other.

Naan rubbed the side of her mask with her uninjured hand. She had never heard of these clans before. Perhaps it was the clans Outsiders swore themselves to. Even if she was not familiar with them, did not mean that she could not help take down the enemy clan. Already in the mind of the young Tusken battle plans were being drawn up. Plans of attack, night raids, a bombing run with the R'Crurak ships, dropping off thousands of R'Crurak Sentries, Shamans, and Dunewalkers. The hair on the back of her neck stood up in excitement at the thought of her first real battle that she would lead, which of course she would. After coming to the aid of Outsiders her grandfather might allow her to take her Trial early, and then she would be allowed to become a sentry, or marry and become a clan mother, or whatever else she might want to do.
There was a cold calculating tone in Naan's words as she spoke.
-Naan in Tusken- "Who is the Chieftain of the Criminal Clan on this planet? We can attack their camp under cover of darkness and slaughter them all while they sleep."
Naan readied her knife, and her stance was as if she was about to go charge in whatever direction Mary told her. It might be a little scary that someone so young was suddenly so bloodthirsty.

Mary realized that the girl was far too excited to be of any use in finding evidence. But if sent off in this state could easily get someone hurt.
-Mary (in Tusken) That is why we are here. The Criminal Clan hides themselves, even often pretending to not be criminals. But they often leave little clues when they attack. The droids back there can see those clues to help us track the criminals. From now on, if I say to say back, you must not touch anything, or you might destroy the clues by mistake. We have to be certain that we are hunting the right person.

The confusion kept on hitting Naan. She did not understand this new type of enemy. Why would they hide like cowards instead of swarming the city and taking it over by force? At least then they would be in plain sight and she could figure out who they were. But an enemy that pretended not to be the enemy? It was a strange concept to Naan.
Naan reluctantly nodded her head when Mary instructed her not to touch anything. The small Tusken wiped her bloody knife on the side of her robe and sheathed it back on the belt around her waist. She was slightly disappointed that she would have to wait to find the enemy clan. As her grandfather told her once, when in Mos Eisley, do as the Outsiders do.
-Naan in Tusken- "Outsiders sure do war differently than back at home..."

Mary couldn't help but silently nod in agreement with the young girl. It would be easier if criminals all openly wore armbands or fancy hats or something to make it simple to find them. Mary lead the young Tusken back toward the crime scene, making sure to follow her own advice & touching as little as possible.

Dand silently let the tiny forensics droids do their work, the detonator sized droids scanning, recording, and cataloging information. From tiny minute particles of gasses to stand alone hairs, to left over particles - everything was quantified and sifted. As Mary walked back to the scene - with Naan in tow - Dand nodded silently. "Ah. And did you two have a productive talk?"

Naan held her bloodied hand up to Dandleion to show him. She seemed proud of the wound, for it meant that she was now a part of their war against the Criminal Clan. The fact that Dandleion did not speak Tusken and Mary would be the only one able to understand did not cross the child's mind as she spoke.
-Naan in Tusken- "I'm going help you with your war! Mary and I are blood sisters now. We're going to down the Chieftain."
Naan looked to Mary and tilted her head.
-Naan in Tusken- "Is Dandleion already sworn by blood to avenge his clan?"
Naan seemed happy with the recent events, and awaited the command of Mary or Dandleion to be told what to do to aid their cause.

Mary was fairly certain that Dandy didn't speak Tusken, & the child definitely didn't speak common. This unfortunately made her the translator for the group. oh joy.
-Mary She is looking forward to helping out.
-Mary (in Tusken) I'm pretty sure he has.

Naan had already taken her knife halfway out of its sheath before Mary had confirmed that Dandleion had already sworn his own blood oath. She shrugged and moved back beside Mary.
-Naan in Tusken- "So how long does a battle like this usually take? Sometimes in the Dune Sea they can last days. It seems like it would be a lot longer if the enemy is hiding."
Naan fiddled with the crude wrapping around her gloved hand. The simple cloth was steeped in blood, and was beginning to dry. She slowly tightened her fist, reopening the partially closed wound. Once again blood began to seep the cloth.
-Naan in Tusken- "I should have brought some of the healing paste I packed."
Naan was slightly disappointed in herself for not predicting that at some point she might be injured and need to take care of herself. If she was back at home, she could have asked a Shaman to heal the wound and it would have been tended to by a healer. Naan tugged on Mary's sleeve to get her attention.
-Naan in Tusken- "Do Outsider have healers?"
Naan was not in need of immediate medical attention, she was mostly just curious about Outsiders, and what their lives were like now.

With the younger girl's question, Mary noticed that the girl's hand was starting to soak through the bandage. Kneeling down next to the girl, Mary quickly replaces the makeshift bandage. Tying the new one well enough that it should hold for a few hours at least. While she is doing this, she answers Naan's questions.
-Mary (in Tusken) Sometimes days or longer to find the one that did it. Sometime the person gets away & we don't ever find them. Yes, we have healers. Will stop by & get your hand healed once we finish here. There, don't play with it this time.
The girl did have a good point though. In addition to the other furnishings, the ship needed to be stocked up on food & medical supplies.

Naan waited patiently as Mary fixed the dressing around her hand. She inspected it and wriggled her fingers. She could not remember if she had packed an extra set of gloves, but she knew she had brought a sewing kit just in case. The only problem was it was back on the ship as well.
-Naan in Tusken- "I understand, its the same back on Tatooine. Sometimes it takes years to fully eliminate an enemy clan. They scatter once their Chieftain is killed and attack anyone they see. Those are the Tuskens that give all of us a bad name."
Naan shook her head when Mary mentioned seeing a healer.
-Naan in Tusken- "That's okay. It's not worth bothering a Healer over. I can look after it myself. I just wanted to know if Outsiders had healers."
Despite being told not to play with the dressing, Naan preceded to fiddle with it. Maybe a blood oath was not the best idea. She had forgotten that wrappings on the outside of her clothes could be so bothersome and uncomfortable. She wished there was a private place she could remove her glove and apply to dressing under her glove. To show any skin in front of anyone but extremely close family was considered a sin to her people.
-Naan in Tusken- "What are we going to do after Dandleion gets all the clues from the droids?"

Standing from the Twi'Lek girl, Dandleion gave a motion to several of the police droids, and they came forward to begin processing the body. Turning to the talkative pair, Dand raised an eyebrow at them both. "Become quite the good friends, eh? That's good, considering that I could barely get a string of words out of Mary." Gesturing for the pair to follow, Dand lead the way down the alley to the back entrance of a nearby cantina. "The heels on the girls feet indicate she was a dancer here - at least, according to the local PD's notes. When we go in, try not to stare. Also...no killing. Ready?"

Mary replied in the only way that she was able.
-Mary Could?
Otherwise, Mary nodded that she was ready. As he readied to open the door, Mary slipped into the defused focus on everything that had become her normal state. The Force was pulled up around her like a heavy mantle, ready to lance out an any target literally as fast as she could point.

Dand blinked, once, slowly, before pulling open the door to the cantina. Smoke practically rolled out the door in a wave, a mix of various illegal spices, herbs, and various other ingredients. Going in the back as they were, they came in next to the refreshers - where one sentient was currently throwing up on the male sentients door - and another pair, a male and female rodian, locked in passionate embrace, practically barreled past the trio into the alley for Gods knew what passionate sortie.
Making his way past the refreshers, they came out to the side of the cantina - on one wall, a bar, across the front, a line of booths and hookah machines, the center held a stage with exotic dancers (wearing the same heels as the girl outside) and to the other wall, a partition full of tables and various sentients eating a dizzying array of food.
"Oh...Oh its GOOD to be back..."

Naan crossed her arms as she followed Dandleion and Mary into the cantina, halfheartedly repeating his words. She would listen to what Mary had told her and try her best to behave. War was her culture, even if the R'Crurak were the most peaceful clan, and her blood was boiling with righteous vengeance to reap upon the Criminal Clan that had attacked the Clan of Law. She might be small, but she was fierce.
-Naan in Tusken- "No killing..."
Naan blinked a few times as she walked in behind the pair. It smelled like one of the Shaman's ritual gatherings in the cantina to her, and she wrinkled her nose in disgust. She remembered she was told not to stare, but the young Tusken realized no one could see her eyes, so she let them wander around, taking in the multitude of things happening near her. Those of her clan that had stepped foot in Outsider settlements told stories about Outsiders drinking firewater, killing themselves slowly an without honor. She had always thought Outsiders were different than what the stories portrayed them as. The truth as she realized it now was that it was true, at least a little.
Mary once more looked up to Mary, the look behind her mask one of disbelief as Dandleion exclaimed in what seemed like joy. Naan turned her head back to see what was going to happen. She kept her voice down as much as she could. There was music playing, but even with that the guttural language still stuck out like a sore thumb.
Naan in Tusken- "Has he been here before?"

-Titana Hey maybe this guy isn't too bad after all.
Mary didn't like the direction this was starting to take. She needed an outlet & Dandy had just painted a big target on himself. A slight downward twitch with her fingers brought a heavy cylinder of force down on his foot. It wasn't heavy enough to break bones or focused enough to break skin, but it was still a solid thump.
-Mary Focus. This is not a good place.
-Mary (in Tusken) For his sake I hope not.

Dand winced at the sensation, and gave his padawan a sour look. "Contrary to Jedi teachings - I am NOT a celibate." He retorted, with a gesture to the various sentients cavorting onstage. "Nor am I married, or involved for that matter." Gesturing through the smoke at the various underworld inhabitants, now taking notice of the Jedi - some even now making their way to the doors and exits - Dand pointed at one large and balding human in particular. "Boss Tossk. He owns this place...Mary, get around to the front exit and make sure he doesn't try and make a run for it...I'll go in for the direct approach."
With that, Dand half stomped half limped up to the man, putting a hand on the man's shoulder. Even now, the man seemed to shrink away from the touch, wary to the extreme, a multitude of excuses on his lips. "Wha? Wha 's innit? I didn do nuthin!" Tossk sputtered, half trying to hide behind a tall mug of something dark green and frothy. "I, eh, wat you wan?"
"Simply an explanation - as to why we found some of your dancers shoes on a twelve year old Twi'lek...who, incidentally, is dead in the alley." Dand began. Before he could finish, though, the large man barreled towards the front exit - intent on escape.
