Being based on a standardized cruiser frame, which the Vindicator-class shared with other Sienar Fleet Systems cruisers like the Immobilizer 418 interdictor and the Enforcer-class, Vindicator-class heavy cruisers were a common sight within the territories of the Galactic Empire. Functioning for the most times as either escort ships or lone hunters, a Vindicator-class cruiser filled often the tasks, regular Star Destroyers weren't able to fulfill thus replacing other ships in their role as the Imperial Navy's standard multi-role cruiser. Although it was mostly produced and utilized by the Galactic Empire and its successors, some Vindicator cruisers were captured by rebells or pirates in the past and implemented into their local fleets as well.
The cruiser itself is equipped with a Class 2 hyperdrive, featuring a backup Class 8 hyperdrive, and a functioning navigation system, operating on a crew of 2,551 officers and 400 troops in order to protect the vessel from boarding. Depending on the configuration a Vindicator's hangar could carry 24 up to 72 TIE-Series star fighters, while most of these ships utilize normally the full compliment of a TIE fighter wing. The ship's armament consisted of 25 light turbolasers, 20 light quad turbolasers, 10 point-defense laser cannons, 20 light point-defense ion cannons and 3 tractor beam projectors, thus making it a formidable foe for other cruisers of its size.
