A type of starship was used as a transport and warship by the reconstituted Sith Empire during the Cold War and subsequent Galactic War with the Galactic Republic. One such ship carried Imperial forces to the surface of Alderaan during the Alderaan Civil War, and a number of them accompanied Darth Marr on his expedition into Wild Space at the close of the war. Several ships of the same class were part of the Alliance's fleet.
An Imperial Transport of this type was used to ferry a large number of Sith troopers and Sith Warriors to the site of a battle at a planetary defense cannon on the planet Alderaan during the Cold War. Lightly armed with only three dual laser cannons, the ship was used to move troops and supplies from point to point in a quick fashion. Able to carry 1,000 troops as well as 500 speeder bikes, the Imperial Assault Transport was a valuable asset during the initial invasion of a planet.
