As a special version of the TIE/fo space superiority fighter, the TIE/sf was designed as a two-seated vessel, being only reserved for elite pilots within the First Order. Like the previous model, the TIE/sf is equipped with a hyperdrive system (Class 2) and enhanced sensor systems and weaponry. Being designed for long range missions these versatile attack ships were used for both reconnaissance and combat operations. This variant of the TIE Fighter could be visually distinguished from its regular counterpart by the laser turret below the cockpit and the red flashes on its left side.
Although the pilot has controll over all weapon systems, a gunner was regulary assigned to take controll of the dual heavy laser turret on the belly of the TIE, giving the fighter a 360 degree field of fire and ability to deliver special ordnance. Additionally a missile launcher is installed within the turret plattform, while the standart 2 laser cannons, which the TIE/fo utilizes are also present on this TIE model.
