The Bothan Frigate, classified as the Fey’lya-class Frigate, is famously named after Borsk Fey’lya, a Bothan martyr who served diligently with the Rebel Alliance and the succeeding New Republic. It was constructed due to the results of the Battle of Gilatter VIII, in which the Bothan government desired to maintain a larger fleet of small, agile vessels. Tallaani Shipyards, in the Tapani Sector, answered the call and helped create the small, but heavily armed Bothan Frigate. It is noted to have heavier than normal armor plating and an impressive array of weaponry. Nineteen of these vessels were known to have served within the Bothan military, showing their worth when they engaged a Galactic Alliance patrol that was near Bothuwai during the Second Galactic Civil War.
A small vessel that packed a punch, the Bothan Frigate sported 12 turbolaser batteries and 20 ion cannons. It had little to no space for troop transportation nor starfighter carrying. As a result, the ships relied heavily on their firepower and armor to win the day.
