Greetings all So I'm looking to craft Gavin a new sword and I've chosen to use songsteel. Considering that this is a rare and lightsaber resistant metal, I'll be starting a story arc in the Journal of the Whills to search for it and face whatever challenges might come Gavin's way in obtaining it. Currently, as the wiki mentions a was once found in the Cularin system asteroid belt, I've elected to follow that path, however, if anyone has an idea of where such metal could also be located, I would love to hear any thoughts. Also, as I'm doing this, I was curious if there was anyone who wanted to get involved with this story as well, be it just to cause some resistance, another smith looking for the metal as well that an agreement could be brokered, anything at all. I'm up for thoughts and opinions on the matter. I plan on starting the JotW entry on Sunday unless someone else has an option for a planet currently on the boards.

Did someone call for a fellow smith?

I figured I might see you come around. And this would happen before the Great Hunt timeline wise, so whatever happens there, Panno can create something great provided you're up for going the search.

I think I can play nice and have Panno look for some Songsteel with you. How do you suggest we play the two of them finding each other and starting this venture?

I was actually thinking that these two happen across each other while searching, being a coincidence that both of them are searching for songsteel in the same area. Either one or the other running into the other one due to both ducking out of the way of whatever resistance is in the area. While Gavin will be less inclined to state his affiliation and not sure where Panno will stand on the matter of him being tied to the Blackguard, that could be an interesting aspect to explore. Will they be two warriors of two factions on shaky ground or two smiths vying for the same prize? But despite their strength, none can acquire it alone against the greater odds.
The area is known to house criminal organizations and smugglers who might not be so friendly do to others seeking their goods. And with ships needing to come out of hyperspace to get through the system, it is a good place for ambushes anywhere by pirates. Then you have Crystal Snare that screws with sensors, requiring a safe distance and manual controls to stay safe and not become lost to it. Then the possible hiccups that could be caused by Cularin space slugs. I think there are enough things going on and probably more if we wanted to further dive into what was and could still be a thing, like the race through the tunnels of Eskaron that could carry them through the asteroid belt.

Kind of considering getting involved in this with Galaar. An old storyline idea, with Plu, would have made Galaar a Beskar Smith. Would be good to use this character more often.

It would be fun to have you join up if you decide to do so.

I think considering all the potential hazards that a lone person may face Panno would be willing to work together with someone, and should it be revealed that Gavin is blackguard he can face that moral dilemma when it happens. Having around a third person might help to seperate the two before blows are had.

I have created the thread in JotW. Feel free to join in. The question I have is do we want to write out our own confrontations with the dangers until all end up gathering or write it out for one of the others? Writing our own conflict will allow us to move at our own paces until we meet up at whatever point if that is preferred. All works for me.

I probably wont get a chance to post tonight. Monday though for sure. I know I personally like having someone else write the confrontation for me, but it would be a good exercise for me to actually write out my own stuff. Maybe for environmental stuff we write our own but if we encounter another person/semi sentient being that can be the other person?

There is certainly no rush to post, so take your time. It was meant for me as a side thing to explain Gavin's acquisition of Songsteel as well as the other material and forging of his weapon while I carry on with everything else on the boards.
But we'll see how things go after a few posts and getting into the flow of things. With so many options and a wide area to cover, I'd imagine that some of the encounters would be separate and exclusive to each of us: one encounters the smugglers, one encounters pirates, so on and so on. Use the main criminal organization as the final bit that forces the group together at some points and as the final bit to remove or at least quell for the moment until they get what they came for.
And I wouldn't worry about a posting order, at least until we are grouped together. Just flow with it as you get the opportunity to post.
