*The Valley of the Dark Lords was a valley and burial ground of Korriban's Sith Lords. Originally constructed by the planet's natives as a burial ground for their kings; the Exiles of the Jedi Order who came to be known as the Dark Lord of the Sith added their own tombs to the Valley. Along with several prominent tombs, the Valley was home to the ancient Sith Great Temple and Lord Khreusis's Stronghold which would loom over the Valley for several millennia.*

The LS Forever did a double pass of a landing area, a good clearing in a bunch of rocks. Devlin made note that this was exactly like every other clearing in a bunch of rocks, but shrugged. He activated the comm link in his helmet and transmitted a signal to the comm link he had given Umbra.
LS Forever landed and awaiting Boss Lady's arrival. Just follow the signal and you should find my baby parked.
Devlin tapped a few commands into the console in front of him, and the ramp leading into the port cargo hold of the ship opened. He kicked back in his full armor, propping his legs up on the dash of the consoles, and waited for his new boss to arrive. He hoped this mission wasn't some kind of sick prank. Or worse; a death trap.

The comm link that Devlin had given starts to flash. It's recieving a signal from the ship he's using for transport. I follow the signal to it's source and see a cargo ship landed in a clearing with a bunch of rocks. I have an uneasy feeling working with a mercenary, but since I'm not paying him until after the job is done I'm able to put those feelings aside for now.
:: 'I see your ship. The cargo ramp appears to be open, I'll wait by the entrance. I'm ready anytime you are.' ::

Devlin sauntered down the ramp, in his full armor, strapped with his regular assortment of pistols and other weaponry. But in his right hand, he carried his LS-150. He gave Umbra a two-finger salute, his metal-encased fingers tapping the tip of his visor. He hefted the LS-150 on his shoulder as if it was nothing and nodded to her. His external speakers gave his voice a slightly droid-like quality to them.
Where are we goin, boss lady? Point the way and I shall clear it out faster than you can say, "Bob's not your uncle,'...He's not your uncle is he?"
A chuckle came out of Devlin's speakers and he shook his head.

I chuckle slightly at the remark the mercenary said and gaze off into the valley, recalling what my information source had told me about where the item is most likely located. I close my eyes and begin to concentrate for a brief moment, getting the force signature of the planet, allowing it to run through me, feeling the rage and passions of countless Sith who have died or were entombed here. Once centered in the planet's energy, I point into the valley.
"My sources say it's in a tomb of one of the lesser sith lords. A tomb that was overlooked by the centuries of grave robbers and plunderers. I have the tomb marked in a way that I'll know when we're there. Now, if there's nothing else, we need to get moving. I'm sure you are just as anxious to get rewarded for this as I am."

Devlin shifted his weight to his left foot as the woman seemed to start some kind of trance thingy. Devlin had a Jedi friend, but he still did not understand the crap that they did, nor did he want to. He felt a lot better with a blaster by his side. But in the odd case he did happen to go up against a Forcie, he always had his Lightfoil.* *Devlin took his LS-150 off his shoulder and held it up to Umbra. While his helmet hid his face, the tilt of his head showed his sarcastic curiosity. He caressed the large repeater with his left hand.
You don't think she's a bit overkill do you? I'd hate to destroy anything of value. What do you think?
The armored ex-soldier began posing provocatively with the large repeater.
Should I leave her in the ship, all alone?

I shake my head a little out of embarrassment, watching Devlin pose with his weapon as though he is some kind of model showing off for the holonet.
"For the type of trouble we'll no doubt come across, and for the man you're hired to kill, it is not overkill."
Without verbal notice, I begin to walk into the valley, expecting my hired mercenary to follow. The dark side of the force runs strong through Korriban, and it hides many secrets from the unworthy and unprepared. Fortunately for me, I am neither.
"Now, if you are done showing off to all of the grains of sand in this valley, it's best if we get moving."
I continue to walk away, letting the force energies of the planet flow through me, guiding me to my intended prize. As a mental precaution, I keep my right hand on my lightsaber, in case of trouble.

Devlin strikes a few more provocative poses with his LS-150.
Hold on....Almost all of them....There we go!
Devlin ran to catch up to Umbra and slowed once he had, walking on her left side. He shrugged a bit, already impatient from the walk and lack of excitement. So he began talking.
Now just to say this, boss lady, that I ain't no Forcie, obviously. That's how I knew you'd be needing me as a meat shield. Where else would a Dark Forcie wanna go except the Tombs of the dead Dark Forcies? I ain't as stupid as you probably think. They don't just let anyone into the military on my homeworld. But I ain't much use against ancient spirits, just a heads up.
Devlin walked a bit faster, and turned to face the Sith female, walking backwards.
Now I would hope you won't just leave me for dead in some tomb where your Lords and Ladies are layed to rest...or nap or whatever the hell they do. Like I said, and as it stipulates in our contract, I'll haunt you, and don't think I won't. I'm mighty stubborn and prone to grudge holding, ma'am

I keep walking to my destination, letting the force be my guide.
"I never once assumed you were stupid, mercenary. I've seen the scars of many battles, both on your body and on your spirit. I don't see the exact details, nor do I care. There are more than just force ghosts in these places. I've heard that some of the ancients used animals to guard their tombs. Animals that they put into stasis to preserve them. While I have no problems with killing animals, as I said, I cannot kill my buyer with the force or with my saber. There are complications. Details you need not concern yourself with for now."
A brief smirk comes across my face as the threat of being haunted comes out. I keep observing all of the old ruins, feeling even closer now than we were when we began.
"To be haunted by yet another ghost would not bother me mercenary. But if you insist on wasting both of our time with meaningless threats then by all means, continue. I have no intentions of betraying you or leaving you here to die. But my word is only as good as you take it for. You and I are a lot a like in some aspects. But rest your anxiousness, we're close to our destination."

Devlin shrugs and goes back to walking beside Umbra. He begins a monologue.
Devlin's log. 1298542398549326501 point 921. I have been hired by a random Sith lady, who appears to be power crazy. No surprise there, just making note of it for later. I hear that they crazy ones are always better in the sack. I hear dumping them off at the nearest space station is the best way to get rid of them, though, so that part shouldn't be a problem. The problem is getting the chloroform rag over her mouth.....
Devlin, upon seeing the look that Umbra was no doubt giving him, looked over at her, and tapped his helmet.
Sorry. Helmet malfunction. The external speakers didn't turn off like they were supposed to. Just a little diary I like to keep....
Devlin chuckled and continued walking.
I can guess that you just don't wanna get your hands dirty with the blood of your "buyer" because you want to make it seem like some random thug took the artifact from him, right? Can't have it leading to you? I get it, ma'am, and it's smart. Except for the part where I possibly get screwed over in the end. Whether or not its by the law in a courtroom, or in my personal quarters....well...That's one of those things that I leave to fate.

Again I shake my head in disapproval of the long 'log entry' that the mercenary just made.
It's a little bit more complicated than that, but you have the basics of it. I'm being hunted by someone that was upset by a job I took. A job that involved eliminating their father. I sense that he has tracked me here. The trail has ran cold for my hunter however, and I do not wish to heat it up. While I have no qualms over killing a disgruntled orphan, the disruption and annoyance would hinder both of our payment arrangements. And don't concern yourself with consequences. My hunter is fixated on me, and you are in no danger. As for law consequences, you need not concern yourself with that either.
I stop suddenly at the entrance of a tomb. The force energy resonating from it is stronger than I had anticipated. The holocron that I was hired to find was in this tomb. The entrance is caved in and there is debris hindering our entrance. I take my double bladed lightsaber off of my belt in preparation for the dangers the tomb has to face.
"Here is our destination, mercenary. The treasure I seek is in here."

Devlin let out a whistle at the size of the tomb's entrance. He looked at some of the symbols, but his HUD's translation software couldn't translate it to Basic. He smacked the side of his helmet on the side a few times to try and fix the problem the old fashioned way, but it didn't help.
So what're we talking about in the way of treasure? One of you Forcie holo-thingies? Pssssh. Figures. Risking my neck for some weird talking cube or pyramid. I swear. Why don't you all just share the information instead of being greedy? Would definitely help you beat the Jedi, or whoever the hell you're fighting these days. Haven't seen any wars on the Holonet for a while. So.......
Devlin took out a thermal detonator and tossed it up in the air and caught it a few times.
I make go boom now or later?

It is a holocron. With very powerful knowledge of force techniques that is supposed to greatly increase one's power in the dark side. And 'sharing' is not a sith trait, mercenary. There's a reason why sith lords meet their end at the hands of their apprentices.
I close my eyes again and begin to meditate briefly, feeling the very strong and powerful dark side aura seeping off of the entrance alone. The sith lord entombed here was no doubt very powerful indeed to have left such a strong pressence. I turn to Devlin, looking at him with a smile.
"If you just have to use explosives, then you may set the charges and detonate them whenever you feel the need. The holocron we're looking for is deep within the tomb so it will be safe from the explosion.

Devlin shrugged and began tossed two thermal detonators around the entrance of the tomb, their timers linked to his HUD. What could he say? He liked explosions. What man didn't? What sentient being didn't? He stepped in front of Umbra and detonated the explosive, and just stood there as for the most part his armor's shields protected him from the debris and heat. He glanced back to Umbra and began talking while the fire calmed down.
So how deep do these tombs go? I'm guessing kilometers, depending on how stuck up and full of himself they were, right?
Devlin laughed and began to follow Umbra into the tomb, his LS-150 at the ready, though he feared it would do little good against spooks.
I hate spooks! Damn things just won't die.....literally! If one of them tries to possess me, I'm gonna be pissed! I'll give them a tough time though. My noggin's only got room for me!
Devlin hefted the LS-150 up and racking the bolt back, sending a bullet into the chamber, readying it to fire.

I take cover from the explosion outside of the entrance of the tomb. Once it was detonated I walk back in the entrance and stand beside Devlin, peering into the dimly lit tomb.
"There was not a lot of information on this tomb. It seems almost as if this sith lord's very existence was nearly wiped from history. But the dark side of the force is strong here. Stronger than I've ever felt before. He must've been truly powerful to leave behind such an essence."
With my lightsaber in hand, at the ready, I step through the entrance of the tomb. I observe the first room carefully, looking for any clues and staying alert to where I step, not wanting to set off any of the booby traps that are built into these tombs to detour plundering.
"The only 'spooks' you'll have to worry about here are the booby traps. Also, if this sith lord has been keeping beasts here in stasis, they're invisible. Watch where you step."

Devlin shook his head and walked in behind Umbra, completely ignoring the thing about booby traps. He couldn't even begin to believe that some old dead Dark Forcie had working booby traps in a dump like this. Hell he had just blown a giant hole into the place. He had not gotten ten steps in when he stepped on a pressure plate. He braced himself for certain death....but nothing happened. He laughed at his good fortune, and continued walking, only to stop at a noise he heard. He turned his head and quickly barrel rolled forward as a pendulum blade slashed the air where he had just been.
Well damn. Can't believe the things actually work after this long. Should be fun. I'll make sure to step on all them."
Devlin began stomping around, being sure to touch anything and everything, but not finding any more hidden traps. He scratched the top of his helmet.
Guess that's all she wrote, huh?
An animal growl of some kind echoed from deeper into the tomb. Devlin brought his LS-150 to bear.
Fun, fun fun. You said....invisible right? What about thermals?

I hear the whooshing sound the giant blade makes as it begins to cut a deadly arc through us, and tuck and roll out of the way, igniting one of the blades of my lightsaber.
"Wow, I thought I told you to be careful! We could've nearly been killed!"
My attention is then grabbed by the growl from within the tomb. A very confident smirk breaks across my face as I'm reminded of the many beasts that I had to fight in my training. I can sense it's presence through the force, but nothing specific.
Yes, some of the beasts used by the ancients can cloak themselves in the force. Well, at least hssiss can. If it is a hssiss, thermals will do you no good, as their body temperature is going to be similar to the ambient temperature. But hssiss aren't the only animals that were used. Nexus were common as well. There is a lot of force energy here, and weaker minded beings, such as animals, are bent to the sith lord's will, yet for that, I cannot tell specifically what it is, but I have one way of finding out.
My anger begins to build up and pulsate through my body. I channel all of this rage through the force, and feel the currents begin to flow through my body, as a strong electrical storm racing through my veins. Then I throw my left hand forward with my fingers pointing out and release a wave of force lightening deep into the tomb, in the direction of the growl.
Then I take a stance, with my left foot forward and my blade held vertically in front of my body, waiting to strike at anything that I may have provoked with the lightening.

Devlin thought he saw movement in the corner and let loose with his LS-150, spraying slugs down-range and filling the air with lead. He laughed happily as a bit of blood pooled on the ground, and stopped firing. The barrel of his machine gun was red hot, and he stuck it to whatever was laying there. There was a sizzle and the smell burnt flesh. The dead and now branded Hssiss quickly materialized. He put his finger to where his mouth was behind his helmet and then put it on his rump, and his external speakers played the same sizzling noise, which he had recorded for this very reason. Devlin hefted his LS-150 up and scanned the surrounding area with the barrel.
Lizards? Are you kidding me?! I eat things like this for brunch! Along with.....toast!
Devlin heard another growl and began firing more rounds down the hall to the next room, and laughed more as he heard a shriek of another hurt creature, soon to meet its death.

"I trained against these beasts before I decided that I could learn no more from the one I used to call master. We will need to be very careful to avoid getting bitten. These things have a small connection to their force on their own, and can poison a bite victim with the force. But I don't think that will be a problem."
I again concentrate on all of the negative feelings and rage that I have stored away, focusing the force through all of this negativity, once again feeling it course through my body in waves of energy. To increase my anger and destructive power, I think of all of those that have ever angered me, or that I have ever begrudged or hated, and continue focusing the force through all of the dark emotions. Then I let out a blood curdling shriek as I throw my left hand forward again, unleashing another wave of force lightening in the direction of the beasts groan.
"I sense there is nothing more in that corridor that can pose a real threat. Come, let us go, you'll have to shoot the one that's still barely clinging on to life. These beasts are stubborn in the fact that they won't just shut up and accept death. We need to keep moving, and the room beyond that hallway is as good a place as any to continue our search.

Devlin walked forward slowly, scanning the area with both his eyes and the hearing his helmet augmented for him. He let his LS-150 go down a bit, growing bored already as the adrenaline quickly left his system. He huffed and turned to Umbra.
Not to be a stick in the mud, boss lady...but how far exactly is this artifact you're looking for? Shooting only gets me off so much before my suit fills up.
Devlin shrugged his shoulders in agitation and turn forward, only to be slammed onto his back. A hissing noise came from over him, and something was pinning him with to the ground. A Hssiss materialized above him, one of its claws keeping him to the ground. He took out a vibroblade from the left side of his armor, and stabbed the thing in the leg. The Hssiss roared in pain and then let off of Devlin.* *As Devlin got up, he did not have his LS-150, it had been knocked a few yards away. Devlin noted how convenient that was, for the lizard. So he switched hands with the vibroblade, and charged, but the Hssiss dodged his charge, and instead went for Umbra. Devlin spun around faster than the blink of an eye and as the creature's back was to him, he jumped onto it, and the lizard began bucking. Devlin punched through a bit of flesh and grabbed something substantial with one hand, and put the other arm in the air.
Watch out! It's a wild bronco! Time to break this here doggy!
Devlin rode the Hssiss, and it continued to buck both in pain as he dug his armored fist deeper into its back, towards its spin, and in anger. It flailed its tail, jumped up on its hind legs, but could not shake the very stubborn passenger it had acquired. Finally Devlin dug in more, and drove the blade into the Hssiss's spine, killing it instantly. As if this was a regular occurrence, he simply hopped off the carcass, and picked up his LS-150, looking the machine gun over.
I think I beat my old record!
Devlin sheathed his vibroblade with one swift movement of his arm, and re-racked the bolt of his LS-150, ensuring it was loaded.
