Constructed by MandalMotors and MandalHypernautics, the Manticore was envisioned as a fast attack corvette, capable of scouting ahead of the main fleet and jumping back to report enemy positions. Armed with a 'chin' mounted turbolaser cannon, 2 point defense laser cannons on the aft top section of the ship and 12 missile launchers (six to a side), the Manticore was fairly capable vessel, meant more specifically to be deployed in pairs or as part of a 'wolfpack' within larger battlegroups. Capable of flanking enemies and engaging in hit and run tactics, preying on damaged ships, Manticores are capable of being aggressive vessels, provided their captains are aware of the ship's limitations. The ship was also capable of carrying up to 20 passengers or soldiers.
