Eclipse-Class DreadnoughtShip Class: Star Dreadnought Ship Role: Battlestation/Command Ship/Carrier/Battleship(Dreadnought) Ship Length: 17,500 meters Agility (A): 1 Defensive (D): 4 Offensive (O): 5 Speed (S): 1 Special Gear: 4 (Axial Superlaser, Gravity Well Projectors, Hangar Space, Troop Capacity) The Eclipse-class dreadnought, also known as the Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer, was a class of Imperial Super Star Destroyer manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards and mainly used around six years after the Battle of Endor. Like the Sovereign-class, they were regarded as a new generation of Super Star Destroyer. The Eclipse-class vessels were among the largest dreadnought-scale ships/Super Star Destroyers ever to be fielded within Galactic history. Although technically being dwarfed in length by both the Executor-class Star Dreadnought and the Vengeance-class dreadnought by 1.5 kilometers, the Eclipse-class nonetheless exceeded even the Executor-class in terms of overall mass and volume. Its size was large enough for it to be classified as a space station. The most deadly weapon carried by Eclipse-class ships was an axial superlaser, similar to but significantly less powerful than one of the component beams used in the Death Star's superlaser. This superlaser was the pinnacle of Imperial destruction in their fleets. The class benefited from the most significant weaponry-improvements of the last few decades. This included gravity well projectors (10) and improved ion cannons (75), the former of which were the same types included on the Interdictor-class Star Destroyers. Additionally, these behemoths were armed with 550 Heavy Laser Cannons and 500 Turbolaser mountings and 100 Tractor Beam Projectors. Able to serve as a carrier, the Eclipse carried 600 TIE Interceptors and 96 TIE/sa Bombers. Crewed by a minimum of 88,500 people, the Eclipse also carried 150,000 troops, 100 AT-AT Walkers and 5 prefabricated garrison bases.

Ah, another one of the few ships that exceeds the MAD system. I believe Gravity well projectors are meant to be special gear as well. But really no matter how you slice it, it pushes or exceeds the limit. Then again, I don’t see anyone really being able to use it anyway so what’s it really hurt.

I could clump the axial superlaser under offensive and add them in as gear...?

Actually I think it would be better to examine a few other ships of this size and see how they match up. It could be possible that these particular ships can’t be measured with the system due to the level of special gear they can hold for their size.

Yeah, there really isn't a whole lot of wiggle room as it stands...hmmm...good job. You've stumped me.

So, where do we stand with this one?

I agree with lux. This is one of those ships that is way more powerful than even it size would indicate. One of the systems we were going to implement was ships that break the scale, but we never got around to it.

So it breaks the scale. Not a terribly big deal considering you'd need a faction that rivals the FO to own one IC. So, I will reiterate, where do we stand. Approval or not?

I say no.
This will need stats at some point, but I don't think we are quiet ready for it yet.
There are other ships (that are within the limits normal people can get) that are also in that super-ship category, but as I said the debate about how to handle those ships never got past the 'we need to do something about ships like this'.

Agreed. Until we can have a discussion on what to do with these kinds of vessels, going to have to leave this one here for the moment.

Considering the growing consensus on ships that break the system and that this seems to have been edited to sit within the 15 point range, approved.

Viox Savage get the grav wells mentioned in the special gear and the point added back in, and we can get a shiny approved slapped on this puppy at long last.
