*The Eternal Pyre was a vast pyre constructed within a natural depression just east of the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban.*

And there they were in front of a huge bonfire. A bonfire the likes of which little Maureen had never seen before. Not even the news. Not even in cartoons. And cartoons could do pretty much anything. She wondered if they had a fire department on this weird planet and if so shouldn't they call them? She looked to Rhiannon then back at the fire. Well she seemed pretty calm. No she concluded. This thing is here for a reason. For what reason she had no idea. Heart beating faster she suddenly felt something deep inside. Something scary. The voices of the many burned in this horrible place rung in her ears. Maureen’s tiny hand closed like a vice-grip on that of the Jedi woman. Looking up to her right again at the woman offered some comfort. Some. Guess having somebody to go with you is nice… Wait. Go where? Brows dropping she thought. Where were they going to go? Subconsciously she shrugged. Oh no! Right! Wherever people go after they are consumed by a lake of fire. They were going to burn! Burning alive.... Burning alive must hurt! Maureen thought frantically trying to wrap her little mind around that certainty. And there he was! By her side stood the massive Cú Faoil, a constant menacing presence with a pronounced overprotective streak and big teeth. He’d eat the lake of fire. Yet another powerful energy pulled her eyes towards the sky. It was that big black magical bird. The Raven landed gentle on the child's left shoulder. She feared nothing

The Eternal Pyre…. Rhiannon had read of this man made phenomenon in her studies. This sacred place kept alive by consuming the bodies of dead slaves by the Sith people was extraordinary. It still smouldered! She trembled as a cold sweat grew on the hands and the lower lip trembled. Rhiannon had always found that observing such relics firsthand was infinitely more powerful than simply reading about them, no matter how well worded the literature might be. Eyes closing she thought of just such. The history shrouded in Darkness. She knew that the infamous Mongrel Alter was located here. Indeed she had read of how the Dark Jedi exile Sorzus Syn had uncovered the headless body of Wyrmuk the Undying around 6900 BBY. And it was here that Sorzus had discovered a set of sacred manuscripts. of The documents were cursed, so it was told. She wondered at what a triumph it must have been making such a momentous discovery…. Many, many years ago Rhiannon had been part of some highly significant archaeological projects. Rhiannon was truly captivated. She had always been known for a pronounced Grey streak. She did not suddenly wish to sacrifice the child to her Gods, then eat her still beating heart before hurling her worthless remains to the searing pit bellow. But Rhiannon did philosophically live on the edge

Maureen stood stone cold still eyes open wide watching the pit intensely. The Hound and The Raven alike sat still like stone

With her thoughts spoken silently now finished Rhiannon closed her hand tight on that of Maureen and led them on west into the Valley of the Dark Lords.... The old Jedi poet-warrior walked with head held high. Rhiannon had always believed in the philosophical opinion that in order gain a full understanding of The Force one must observe it holistically. To her what separated Jedi from Sith lie in one's treatment of this knowledge. And as consequence of this conviction she walked comfortably on Koriban. And so onward they advanced

And there she was. The pyre burned hot, as it always world. A strange comfort from that constant strengthened the Jedi. Stability. And so the woman continued
