The Atlas-Class Battlecruiser was originally conceived of by the engineers of Mon-Calamari Shipyards, secretly working alongside Allyali Parhdog. Allyali, always a rebellious member of the typical insular Hapan society, could tell the wind was not blowing in favor the Galactic Alliance, and that drastic action needed to be taken. And so, working outside the Hapan command structure, she made contact with the individuals working on Mon Cala in order to conceive of two new ship types.

The Atlas was originally designed for the sole purpose of countering the First Order’s fearsome Resurgence-Class Battlecruiser. Unlike most Mon Calamari vessels, this ship quite heavily focuses on strike capability and offense, unlike the typically tanky Mon Calamari vessels. However, the ship is still extremely tough and can take an extreme beating. It’s the ability to carry soldiers and fighters allow it to function independently from a large fleet, although it is still extremely capable in a fleet context, unlike its sister vessel. This makes it a very powerful ship, especially in the hands of a capable commander.
