Centax-class heavy frigates were frigates used by the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. The Centax-class was armed with ten batteries of laser cannons and at least one vessel, the Ranger, was also furnished with two batteries of MG1-A proton torpedo launchers. This class of starship was known to be exceptionally fast considering its size. Ships of this class were built by the shipwrights of Sluis Van and outfitted on Centax-1, a moon of Coruscant.
Armed with 10 Laser Cannons and two proton torpedo launcher batteries, the Centax was meant more to be a screening or quick strike vessel rather than a front line warship.
