As the last of the Delta's took off and exited the hangar bay, Eain himself headed over to a shuttle that was landed on the edge of the hangar bay. As soon as the Rear-Admiral boarded the vessel, it closed up its rear ramp and took off out of the shipyards, heading toward the MC80 Home One-type Star Cruiser known as the Grange. The shuttle was barely half way along the length of the Dorn-class Fast Carrier when a call came through to Eain's datapad. Causing Commander Gannon's holographic form to appear in small scale Commander Gannon, I'm presently on my way back to my ship. What is so urgent you needed to call me?
Sir, high command intercepted a distress signal from Varonat. It would appear a First Order fleet has appeared over the planet. The Varonat Assembly is requesting the Coalition's aide in removing this intrusion...
And high command would like us to investigate this matter?
That is correct...
Fine, we'll have the Shadow remain here and conduct training exercises...
About that... As the Shadow is attached to our fleet, High Command has dictated that it must accompany the 8th Fleet...
A trial by fire for a dozen experimental ships and pilots that have only just flown them for the first time? Very well... Have the fleet ready to make the jump...
Right away sir! As soon as Gannon's holoimage disappeared, Eain switched over to the secure frequency for the Shadow of Corellia and her 12 Delta's There appears to have been a change in plans. Varonat has sent out a distress signal and the Coalition is sending the eighth fleet in to investigate. That means you will be running simulations aboard the Shadow en route. Load up and prepare for the jump to hyperspace... It wasn't exactly the kind of news one wanted to have to deliver to a fresh faced squadron. But they were all skilled pilots that had been chosen specifically for the Delta Initiative. Meaning this kind of a challenge should not catch any of them by surprise

With every passing second, Soraya grew adjusted to the controls and handling of the Delta. Many had stated that she seemed to be a fast learner in the pilot's seat. She had always felt it came to the generations of pilots that existed in her blood. And to be in the seat of an experimental ship gave her pride, one she knew her ancestors would be proud of.
As they grew closer, the comm channel kicked in, alerting them to an incoming message. As Eain's message came through, Soraya's body tensed, though not out of fear or nervousness, the way someone did as their mindset shifted to a much more serious situation. She may not have had any real-time to adjust to the ship completely, but she was ready. She had her time with the Froz patrol unit to thank for that. Still, she wondered just how many simulations they could get done before arrival. It seemed this trip was about to get busy in a hurry.
"Not even five minutes in these birds and they are already sending them out into the fray. Let's just hope all the bugs have had their kinks worked out." Despite the words, her voice was calm and ready for what was to come.

Nalah sat in the co-pilot position, reviewing the bombing and cloaking control systems when the message from the Rear-Admiral played over the comm. It was a rather unusual request, and not one she suspected Eain was all for. But regardless of how warmly it was received, Nalah was honestly excited for the opportunity. It meant they weren't going to spend weeks or even months running simulation missions away from any action I wouldn't be too worried. I doubt they'd be letting us fly these birds if there was anything seriously wrong with them. It'll be a much better test than waiting around for months for someone to properly green light us for a combat op... It just means someone is trying to make a statement about our potential... For now, lets worry about the mission and deal with the repercussions later...

A chuckle came from the front as Nalah spoke. "Well, you certainly don't hear me complaining about it. I'm eager to put these things through their paces and show any enemies of the Coalition about why they should think twice before making any assaults"

I have a feeling you and I are going to get along real well Reyes... It was always a gamble when getting paired with a co-pilot. Some were strictly by the book and would not budge against what was dictated as proper operating procedures. But others were graced with a flexibility to know when you needed to deviate from a paper-pushers rules and fly by the seat of your pants. Soraya was starting to show she could fall well into that second, much more preferable category.
Nalah leaned turned her gaze out the main viewport as the Dorn-class Fast Carrier's hangar bay grew closer and closer as the first of the Delta's flew in and landed. Ground crews were already on standby and rushing to their stations. Nalah pointed toward the open landing spot that would logically belong to Delta-Five That looks like us over there...

Soraya smiled as Nalah spoke of them getting along. That was comforting to know that they'd be getting along without much concern for any tension.
One by one, the Deltas began entering the hangar, the light shifting from the brilliant sun to the softer artificial light of the ship. Just the Captain pointed out the area meant for them, Soraya had noticed and was beginning to navigate the bomber into position. Turning the ship to face the proper way for better departure, she brought the ship down, settling it softly to the ground. Lifting the cockpit, she began powering down the systems as the hangar team began moving over to bring them the loading ladder.

As soon as the last Delta landed within the Shadow, the Dorn-class Fast Carrier turned about and moved away from the shipyards to join the rest of the assembled 8th fleet. The Gannon Cannon and the Grange dominating the view, with an array of smaller vessels consisting of Raider-class Corvettes (Coalition Refit), Ranger-class Gunships, and MPO-1400 Star Cruisers (Missile Boat Refit). As it stood, the Shadow of Corellia was the third largest vessel in the Fleet.
It was only a few more moments later that Eain arrived to the bridge of the Grange, before the dozen or so vessels powered up their hyperdrives and disappeared into the blue white haze of hyperspace...

[ Lawyer's office, Downtown Coronet. ] =Vance Waterpool=Vance Waterpool, the new legal counsel for the Sempreverde-Raganella Trust, leaned the high back of his chair against the window sill of his 26th floor private office, and squinted at the legal-sized holobook held in his left hand. The documents and contracts he had inherited from his predecessor seemed simple enough, but the elder Raganella had asked him to confirm all of its provisions and its compliance with local and Republic business law. There were the certificates denoting Marie Sempreverde as sole heir to her father's stake in the Corellian Engineering Corporation, and the marriage certificate for her union to Raja Raganella, with full survivorship provisions for her own inheritances. Then, there were the birth notices for their two children, Kel'Al and Kay'li, a death certificate for Marie, and a Jedi decree on the death of Raja, with a sworn statement from Kel'Al as the only witness to his father's demise. And finally, a confirmation of Kel'Al's standing with CEC from then-chairman Tagert Hunt. The chain of succession was above reproach, and so the Jedi Master was fully within his legal rights to assign his stake in the famous corporation to the Trust that he and his sister had chosen to establish. The plan was quite simple, but also admirable: they had chosen to assign their family's accumulated wealth, which included land, their family stake in CEC, and residual revenue from Kel'Al's CEC patents, to a Trust which would manage the assets on behalf of any future, as-yet-unborn, non-Force-sensitive descendents of either sibling.Satisfied, Vance lowered his chair until all four legs were resting on the carpet of his office floor once more, then turned to the door of his office and called out, "Shirley, come put these back in my files, please." Setting the holobook down on the end of his desk, he took a sip of stimcaf, and gazed out the window at the picturesque skyline of Coronet City.[Years later.] =Vance Waterpool=Arriving in the Coalition District, a speeder slowed to a stop outside the office building that served as the public-facing side of CEC's ground operations at the Santhe shipyards, and a sharply-dressed, middle-aged lawyer stepped from the vehicle. The lawyer stopped for a moment to straightening his pocket square, then entered the building, briefcase in tow, and approached the main reception desk."Hi, Carla." He said to the young Duros woman who was currently on duty behind the counter. "Shirley called ahead to get me an appointment with engineering. I have something to show them." He winked, and helped himself to a YT-1300 shaped mint from the bowl on the counter.=Carla="Absolutely." The receptionist smiled, then pressed some buttons on her terminal. "One moment, Mr. Waterpool." By this time, Waterpool had become a familiar face around the Santhe Shipyards -- sometimes to celebrate the company's successes, and sometimes to argue with the company's leadership about their perceived failures. This visit was about neither. He'd uncovered something valuable in Kel'Al Raganella's old engineering files.

=Vance Waterpool=An hour later, the lawyer exited his meeting with a smile plastered across his face. After a thorough technical review, the engineers had agreed to acquire the rights to the Fast Attack Frigate. CEC would take the prototype schematics left behind by Kel'Al Raganella, and develop the unique design into a viable commercial product. Vance was certain that the vessel would attract the near-immediate attention of the Corellian Defense Forces, which were undergoing a major overhaul of their star fleets. In fact, the engineering team had been so pleased, they had asked him at least three times, what else was he sitting on from CEC's golden age under Tagert Hunt. Vance blinked as a strong ray of Corell's light, entering the lobby through a, high slotted window, suddenly caught him in the eye.=Carla="How'd it go?" The Duros receptionist asked, looking up from the numerous notifications blinking on her terminal. =Vance Waterpool=Vance laughed. She already knew the answer to that, because the engineers had been busy scheduling meetings when he left them. "It went very well, thank you." =Carla="I thought so." She winked, then ironed the smile out of her face as she took on a more serious tone. "Say, have you heard from the Raganellas, at all?" S he looked around, and then lowered her voice. "Not that it's my place to ask, but there's tons of rumors on the HoloNet ... and I just wondered ..." Her voice trailed off.=Vance=Inwardly, he winced. As trustee of the Sempreverde-Raganella Trust, if anyone outside the Jedi leadership knew anything, it would be him. But he was just as in the dark as everyone else. He knew most of the rumors were nonsense, but he couldn't prove anything. But it was also his job to be politic. "I think Master Raganella would say to trust in the will of the Force." He replied smoothly. "Carla, I'll see you around." Waving his hand over his shoulder, he turned and exited the building.

After exhaustive engineering reviews, construction began upon the first Corellian Fast Attack Frigate, with the long, wedge-shaped hull laid out and welded together by the skilled CEC workforce with exacting detail. Hull plates were cast and tested, and rejected, adjusted, cast, and tested again. A long, flat plane took shape, over 300 meters in length, with a tapered nose, and support structures stabilized it while the integrity of the simulations was validated against the real item. Sparks flew, smoke drifted, and the air was filled with the racket of industry and men at work.
Elsewhere, weapons specialists worked to refine the frigate's signature weapon: the dorsal heavy ion cannon. Various barrel designs were tested, but at the scale proposed in the schematics, accuracy and safety both proved to be an issue. The initial targeting system, scaled up from much smaller weapons, was scrapped, and a new one designed. But simulations revealed a new flaw, in explosive detail. Upon conducting several thousand simulated firings, it was found that such a powerful ion blast, released so close to the frigate, tended to cause friendly fire damage to the frigate as well as its target. Lengthening the barrel ultimately solved both problems, and the safety weakness was removed.

Work continued on the first Corellian Fast Attack Frigate, the pace of construction unabated except for a brief three day delay due to a massive series of thunderstorms that shook the entire area and made it somewhat dangerous to be working among large metallic objects. After weeks of effort, the entire hull had been assembled and passed all initial inspections. Future ships would be manufactured in a fraction of the time, once procedures had been standardized, and once the shipyard workers had learned the intricacies of the new design. But this first one would take many weeks to complete.
With the outer hull complete, work began to lay each deck, test its structural integrity, and begin assembling interior hatches and bulkheads to properly distribute weight throughout the ship and preserve its integrity not just at Corellia's gravity, but also in the vacuum of space, and on planets with heavier gravity.
The weapons specialists had not been slowed by the storms, as their work was largely indoors, and the heavy ion cannon was complete, awaiting installation.
Meanwhile, the entire propulsion system of the craft had been constructed at one-hundredth scale and tested in various laboratory environments, until it stopped exploding and starting to be controllable. Such a fast ship would require intricate precision in its main engines and maneuvering thrusters. For a final test, the model was taken to space and tested in zero-gee at the orbital shipyards. With significant sales of the new Frigate to the Coalition expected, no expense was spared in ensuring that the craft would meet both the safety and performance standard that CEC had set for generations.

The flagship vessel of the new Corellian Fast Attack Frigate line was nearing completion. After weeks of work, the interior buildout was structurally complete, and the final space-worthy polish was being applied to all interior and exterior features. While there were no literal bells and whistles, there were plenty of small features to paint, and indicator lights to install, and signs and control panels that needed their wires tucked out of sight. CEC was preparing for a final walkthrough of the vessel, and there was a scramble to clean up not only the ship itself, but the surrounding work yard, in preparation for the arrival of CEC and CDF VIPs for an inspection tour.
Weapons installation and testing were a check.
Propulsion was a check.
Life support was a check, with an extra note from CEC's independent medical consultants from the Five Worlds Medical Center.
Navigation was a check, although the CDF navigational software had not yet been loaded. The maneuvering outriggers had been tested in a wind tunnel and in a vacuum simulation, to ensure the expected craft agility ratings. Just about everything that could be tested, had been, aside from the hyperdrive, for obvious reasons.
It wouldn't be long now. The FAFtest ship in the Core was on its way (or so the cheesy marketing slogans proclaimed).

After some perfectly synchronized navigational errors, which demonstrated clearly the differences between precision and accuracy, a pair of dilapidated DP-20 Corellian Gunships dropped out of hyperspace and entered Corellia's orbit, transmitting clearance codes as members of the Corellian Defense Forces' Selonian fleet. The Gunships were in need of more than just a new coat of paint. As models dating to the original model of the frigate, a thorough refit was in order.=Cmdr. Amirra=As soon as the ships had been properly cleared with the local CDF, the Selonian commander motioned to her communications officer, who promptly opened a channel to CEC, and patched in their sister ship. Santhe Shipyards, this is Commander Amirra of the CDF. Per order from Admiral Korr, Commander Bretton and I have brought our DP-20s in for the full Coalition refit. Please provide us clearance and approach vectors to the ground-side shipyards. Thank you.=CEC Control=Ah, roger that, Commander. There was a slight pause as the controller looked up Korr's order in the system. You are cleared to proceed to the surface along your present trajectory to point 290. Your pad assignments will be 37-A and 39-A. Please complete your descent and reduce your speed to below regulation limit prior to entering the working yard. =Cmdr. Amirra=Acknowledged. Amirra out. The Selonian closed the channel, and nodded to her pilot. Meanwhile, a similar interaction played out on the bridge of Bretton's gunship.Once more, both ships moved in unison, descending toward the Santhe Shipyards. Meanwhile, in another part of the shipyard, two old-style DP-20 Corellian Gunships had descended from the clouds and landed in Section 3, Pads 37-A and 39-A, arriving for the full Coalition Refit, which was projected to extend the twin vessels' serviceable lifespan by at least a decade. For months, old DP-20s from all over the Coalition, both from the Coalition Navy itself, and from local defense forces, had been arriving for the same makeover, and by now, the intake process moved like clockwork. After a quick briefing, watch assignments were handed out, and the rest of both crews were dismissed for ground leave. On solid ground for the first time in months, Commanders Amirra and Bretton made their way toward the main CEC administration building. =Cmdr. Bretton=The male Naboo crinkled his nose at the acrid smell of the Santhe Shipyards air. "I think I can actually smell the ... history of this place." =Cmdr. Amirra="Not exactly the Lake Country, is it?" His female Selonian companion chuckled at his discomfort, and motioned toward the building they were approaching. "Let's go inside, the air should be better." Long trained to live among humans, and aboard spaceships, she felt less exposed than most Selonians would have in such a vast open place, but she still felt more at easy when there were walls, or a roof, or something to set a friendly boundary.=Cmdr. Bretton="After you." Bretton replied, opening the door to the shipyard's main public entrance.Behind then, the sounds of powerful sandblasting and metal grinding began, as the shipbuilders began to strip the outer hulls for their makeover.

Upon final completion of the build-out validation checks and quality control inspections for the FAF, with all test cases passed and all certifications accredited by the shipyards' independent inspectors, the chief engineer's report was forwarded to the CDF, alongside the flight worthiness certificate for the first-in-class vessel. The report detailed every inch of the vessel's as-build specifications, and all engineering changes that had been made to the original blueprints provided by the Raganella Family Trust. Vance Waterpool was also notified, as trustee and chief legal counsel for the Trust, as were the top executives of the Corellian Engineering Corporation, and local and Coalition holonet news media. Once the CDF dispatched a provisional commander and bridge crew, the vessel would be launched for air- and space-worthiness trials and training, then released for active duty in the CDF navy.=Cmdr. Bretton="After you." Bretton replied, opening the door to the shipyard's main public entrance. =Carla=Looking up from her terminal, the Duros receptionist smiled as the pair of CDF officers entered the CEC lobby. "Good morning, sirs! Please, help yourselves to a cup of stimcaf, I just put a new pot out." She gestured to a small table to the left of the doors. "Let me know if you need anything else."

Some weeks had passed since their arrival at the Santhe Shipyards, but Commanders Amirra and Bretton (and their crews) had finally reached the end of their stay on Corellia, and their new and fully refitted gunships were completed. In the meantime, the senior officers had been able to attend the official ceremony for the maiden launch of the Corellian Fast Attack Frigate, and even the lowest members of the crew had gotten more than a few chances to gape at it from a distance as it departed the shipyards in the blink of an eye each time the CEC engineers and inaugural bridge crew took it out for testing or training. Now it was their own turn, albeit with considerably less fanfare. The refitting of old DP-20s for Coalition service had become somewhat routine. As a result, the ceremony and the thrill factor were both more intimate and personal.
=Cmdrs. Amirra and Bretton= The Selonian and Naboo commanding duo saluted each other and the shipyards engineers with a flyby, before departing for low orbit.
