Hello, hello, hello you lovely folks of JvS,
Just the RPA here with a quick update and change to the Special Gear system. For a while, Hyperdrives were counted as Special Gear for Starighters, a decision made early in the MAD stat process. However, upon review of the many entries into the database since then, it has become clear that Hyperdrives are far more common than not.
To this end, we are removing Hyperdrives as counting as special gear. This means that any existing entries will remove the point in Special Gear that they've spent on the Hyperdrive, and all new entries will not require it. At this time, we will be going through and contacting anyone with a starship submission/entry and advising them that their entries can be edited to remove the Hyperdrive in the special gear slot.

I would say it is a good idea to have it mentioned whether or not it’s hyperdrive capable so anyone utilizing it will know, especially custom entries.

Naturally, people should mention hyperdrive capabilities or not. We just feel its not necessary to use a point since about... 90% and above of starfighters have hyperdrives and very few really don't use them due to their role as short-range fighters or being the first of a line of starfighters (like the TIE/In).
