Venator-class Star DestroyerShip Class: Star Destroyer Ship Role: Carrier Ship Length: 1,137 meters Agility (A): 2 Defensive (D): 3 Offensive (O): 2 Speed (S): 2 Special Gear: 2 (Troop Space, Hangar Space) Serving during the Clone Wars as the main capital ships of the Galactic Republic and its Navy, the Venator-class Star Destroyer was produced by Kuat Drive Yards in cooperation with Allanteen Six Shipyards, most likely inspired by the Mandalorian Kote-class Destroyer. Designed primarily to fight on ship-to-ship combat the Venator Star Destroyer served with its massive hangarsize also as a carrier and battleship escort. Over the entirety of the Clone Wars these ships were prominent within battles against the Separatists, most prominently during the Battle of Coruscant. With the rise of the Galactic Empire,t he successor of the Galactic Republic, these Star Destroyers were slowly replaced with the Imperial-Class Star Destroyers, as numbers over the galaxy decreased. Nontheless Venator-Star Destroyers showed up in later eras as well, one of them being part of the Maw Irregular Fleet under the command of Admiral Natasi Daala during 40 ABY. The Venator-class Star Destroyer features a Hyperdrive 1 system along with a Class 12 backup with it's shielding being on par with the later produced Victory-class Star Destroyer. With its 8 heavy turbolaser turrets, 2 medium dual turbolaser cannons, 52 point-defense laser cannons, 4 heavy proton torpedo tubes and 6 tractor beam projectors, the firepower of the Venator-class is strong enough to even breach the shields of a Trade Federation battleship, while it could carry 420 starfighters as complement into battle. The regular star destroyer also featured troop space for 2,000 soldiers, while being coordinated by 7,400 crew members. - Image Fixed! - Whill Sul

If I’m being honest, I feel when in a stat destroyer role, it was really underpowered. I would say that it’s offense is more likely a 2, but definitely not a four. It had nowhere near the firepower in any regard to match any of the pocket star destroyers of this size.

Given its array, would have to agree with Lux. The Venator was more of a carrier compared to its counterpart, the Providence-class Destroyer/Carrier, which was truly a powerful warship.

Can reason both opinions, as I forgot that size might make a difference regarding stats as well (aka Offense 3 on a Victory doesn't automatically translate to Offense 3 on a Venator). Took both the Victory and the Kote-class Destroyer as a main reference initially. Edited it to a 2, as that makes more sense.

Was the Venator really that terrible in its maneuvering and functioned more as a speedy straight line ship?

I'd say it's about a 2 in speed and agility of what I remember of its performance.
