Imperial II-class Star Destroyer
Ship Class: Star Destroyer
Ship Role: Destroyer, Carrier, Command Ship
Ship Length: 1,600 meters
Agility (A): 2
Defensive (D): 4
Offensive (O): 4
Speed (S): 3
Special Gear: 1 (Troop Space)
Description:
The Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, also known as the Imperial II-class Destroyer and colloquially the "ImpStar Deuce", was a Star Destroyer model that was derived from the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer. Although the same size as its predecessor, the ISD II had an advantage in firepower, but lost out in its anti-starfighter defenses. As a result, the Imperial II would have to rely upon escorts and starfighters to ensure it was not harassed by enemy fighters and bombers.
In fuller detail, the Imperial II had several differences from its predecessor. The replacement of the tractor beam targeting array between the command tower's sensor globes with a communications tower, as well as the removal of point defense weaponry (as mentioned before) were among the first. Following that, The Imperial II was built with a heavily reinforced hull, stronger deflector shields, and greater firepower than the original Imperial I class. The prominent quad heavy turbolaser and heavy ion cannon turrets flanking the surface of the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer were also replaced with batteries of eight-barreled turbolasers or ions in unarmored barbette mountings. Another new feature included two parallel "claws" for grappling smaller starships placed in the ventral secondary docking bay.
The armament of the second ISD model was very much in favor of ship to ship combat and planetary operations, but lacked in anti-starfighter weaponry. 8 octuple barbette turbolaser cannons or ion cannons, 50 heavy turbolaser batteries, 50 heavy turbolaser cannons, 26 additional turbolaser batteries, 20 heavy ion cannons, 10 tractor beam projectors. 60 ion cannons, 40 point defense laser cannons, and 10 heavy tractor beam projectors make up its array of weapons. In terms of being a military transport, the ISD (post Battle of Hoth) carried 72 starfighters alongside 9,700 troopers with a complement of various vehicles, ranging from AT-AT walkers to Lambda-class Shuttles.
