Description: Albeit the classic Imperial II-class had been a success, able to hold the ground against most ships of its class, it was slowly outgunned by more recently-designed ships. The aged destroyer model could no longer survive an encounter with the more powerfully shielded MonCal ships or some newly-developed Imperial ships. It remained, though, a symbol of aggresion and power thorough the whole galaxy and still is a formidable ship, being one of the few that excelled in all roles. Prefered flagship of most the greater imperial tacticians, like Grand Admiral Thrawn, its legacy carried on. It could be considered the greater and most lasting triumph of both Kuat Drive Yards and Lira Wessex.
However, new times demand proper innovation and, thusly, a newer model had to be produced in order to counter the most recent developments, while capitalizing on the very functional and useful design of the Imperial II-class and its predecessor, the Imperial I-class. The joint effort of a group of weapon engineers, of the very best minds available, managed to produce yet another class of Imperial Star Destroyers; one not as masive as the Resurgent, which was pretty costly and demanding on manpower to crew it properly. An Imperial Star Destroyer with improved weaponry, up to date ordnance and a sleek design. The reinforced hull, stronger shielding and more demanding turbolaser batteries consumed a large energy input than the previous models, thus, the designers were unable to significantly improve the speed or agility of the Imperial III-class.
With a slightly larger size and an updated design it could bring to the field more and larger weaponry than other models of its class; generally having a greater amount of guns than both its predecessors. Among the improvements are included very prominently-featured turbolaser batteries on both sides of the ship -six in total-, each comprised by three double-barreled powerful long-range turbolasers; by themselves they outgunned the classic octuple batteries on the ISDII. Another significant improvement was the inclusion of two of those batteries on the very belly of the ship, among other cannons, protecting both the hangar bay and the reactor and offering a greater offensive capability.
The new design also reduced both the height and prominence of the hull superstructure, covering it with armor plates that, also, protected important circuitry and power conduits for the heavy weaponry. The bridge tower itself has been enlarged and thrusted forward, like a prow. The formerly unique bridge space of the ISD has been divided in several independent cells and command points. That was intended to reduce the vulnerability of the previous models of facing utter destruction by blowing up -either by chance or skill- the bridge, which also ended in the loss of most commanding officers and the destruction of almost all the ship's systems. Thus, the ignoble fate of ships like the Executor could be entirely avoided. The sleeker design of the superstructure also provided the rotating turbolasers a greater range of fire, minimizing the blind spots.
The tractor beams were located at the front of the dagger-shaped ship and were not as powerful as some New Republic designs, like the Starhawk cruiser, but still on par with what the ISD-II and few other Imperial ships were able to provide its commander. The fighter complement was standard, a full wing (72 fighters in total), with the ship providing launching racks as the previous models, while also having room for several transports, shuttles, troops and walkers. A ship developed in the outer fringes of the Galaxy, after the loss of Imperial Center and the Core to the Alliance. Because often TIE factories were not available the destroyer can accommodate other kind of starfighters on its belly, like Howlrunners or Prebyrds. The ship can fit up to 10,000 troops, slightly more than the Imperial II-class, having large accomodations for a sizable land force, keeping the previous models' role as troop carriers for full planetary assaults.
