MC 50-class Frigate
Ship Class: Cruiser.
Ship Role: Capital Ship Support, Assault Frigate, Command Ship.
Ship Length: 579 m.
Agility (A): 3.
Defensive (D): 4.
Offensive (O): 4.
Speed (S): 3.
Special Gear: 1 (Redundant Shield Generators).
Description: while the Mon Calamari had designed many excellent ships-of-the-line in the times prior the Galactic Alliance's dissolution, there had been some gaps in the array of ships provided. For example, there were not many frigates been produced by the said shipyards, while the other factions at play managed to develop powerful designs that outgunned the older battle-horses of the Alliance, like the Nebulon-Bs. After the fall of Dac and the Sacking, many Mon Calamari and Quarren went into exile: a number of then eventually seeking shelter in the Corellian Coalition's territories. The Santhe shipyards in orbit over Corellia itself benefited from the new incorporations, as many of the exiles were skilled engineers and crafty technicians. Admiral Renzo Ostrenis had realized the gap in the Coalition's fleet and, with the collaboration of his aides, including Gallus Jehengir. Thus, they produced a new design, a powerful frigate cruiser, adept at supporting capital ships, while being able to act as a command ship in smaller fleets. The ship could very well hold its own against other cruisers and outgunned most frigates, excelling at the role of protecting the Coalition's borders and the hyperspace lanes coming in and out their territory. Considering the Coalition relied heavily on the union of often distant systems, a ship filling that role could only do great good for the future survival of the Corellian-centered state. A new wondrous result of Santhe shipyard's efforts: the MC50-class frigate.
The ship is armed with 16 heavy turbolaser turrets, 8 concussion missile launchers -25 missiles each-, 27 twin laser cannons, 25 medium ion cannons and 4 tractor beam projectors, a greater payload than its predecessors, the MC40a and the MC30c. The cruiser is also equiped with state-of-the-art shielding for a ship of its size and role. It has redundant shield generators that both prevent major system failures and strenghten the ship's general defense. It can house three full squadron of starfighters (36) and up to 200 troopers. Many systems are automated to reduce the required crewmembers, as not to strain the manpower of the Corellian Coalition.
