YT-1300 light freighter
Ship Class: Light Freighter
Ship Role: Transport/Freighter
Ship Length: 29.4 meters
Agility (A): 3
Defensive (D): 3
Offensive (O): 2
Speed (S): 3
Special Gear: 1 (Passenger cappacity)
Description:
The YT-1300 light freighters were produced massively by the Corellian Engineering Corporation as part of a series of versatile freighters. One that could be both heavily and easily customized by whoever purchased them to suit their particular needs: one could either increase the firepower, strenghten the hull, equip larger engines, add a detachable pod or change the position of the very cabin. Even if the freighters could look ungainly or obsolete, they were, in fact, formidable ships, ones that could either make the Kessel run in less than thirteen parsecs or avoid an Imperial blockade. Agile, well-shielded, fast and able to deliver a good pounding to any starfighters foolish enough to face the freighter one-on-one in a dogfight. When properly mantained and customized it can be considered one of the fastest ships in the whole Galaxy. It also had sufficient room for storage and passengers, depending on what the patron wanted to. This particular freighter model rose to widespread fame thanks to the most famous vessel ever issued or built by CEC, the Millennium Falcon, an iconic ship owned by both Lando Calrissian and Han Solo, two of the most famous galactic low-lifes that ever lived, authentic rogues turned heroes, both serving the Alliance and the New Republic as generals and more. Under Solo and his trusty co-pilot, Chewbacca, the Falcon was an authentic beacon of hope, serving in all the Galactic conflicts up to the Second Galactic Civil War. Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan, whose legacy cannot be discussed here, sometimes served as the Falcon's copilot through its storied career, as wife of its owner, the aforementioned former smuggler Han Solo. With such a background there's no doubt about the YT-1300 being one of the most legendary and recognizable freighter models that ever flew and crossed the Galaxy. The standard-issued freighter has two laser cannons, one quad laser turret and two proto torpedo launchers.
