AZ-7 Jedi Transport
Ship Class: Heavy Freighter
Ship Role: Medium Transport/Shuttle/Fuel Tanker/Fire Ship/Salvage Ship/Landing Craft/Hospital Ship
Ship Length: 95 meters
Agility (A): 2
Defensive (D): 4
Offensive (O): 3
Speed (S): 3
Special Gear: 3 (Cargo Space, Passenger/Troop Space, Hangar Space)
Description:
The AZ-7 Jedi Transport, or the Archonian Medium Transport, was designed for heavy-duty long-ranged armed transportation with its own escorts. Like with almost all Aldar designs, the AZ-7 was capable of water landing, submerging and had shifting hull plates that could move to protect exposed, damaged or vulnerable areas where necessary. The shifting plates also allowed the ship to lower its entire cargo space for easy loading of cargo or personnel.
Due to the clamshell-hulled design, this ship bore a strong resemblance to the venerable GR-75 Medium Transport, though the similarities ended there, as the AZ-7 was slightly larger in all dimensions, far better armed, armoured, shielded and came equipped with significant hangar space for a ship of its size. It was equipped with a standard Class 1 hyperdrive with a Class 10 backup.
The AZ-7 bore a strong resemblance to the well-known GR-75 medium transport.
The stock model of the freighter was armed with 2 light turbolaser turrets, 4 dual laser cannon turrets, 1 warhead launcher, and 2 tractor beam projectors, all concealable. It had a ventral hangar deck with space for 4 starfighter escorts, with 8 external hangar clamps along the ventral section. For passenger or troop space, the ship could comfortably transport up to 150-200 passengers and carried nearly 20,000 metric tons of cargo with consumables for up to two years.
Borrowing the mentality of the Corellians and their infamous freighters, the Aldar shipwrights designed the AZ-7 to be highly modular and easy to reconfigure, allowing the ship to have a variety of uses, roles and features, such as sacrificing cargo, passenger or hangar space for other devices or rooms, which presented the fleets with role-specific transports. It was not uncommon to find modified AZ-7s with cloaking devices or hospital bays, or other features. The ship had a crew of 6, with a minimum crew requirement of 1, and an assortment of service/repair droids for additional assistance.
