Description:
As the Aldar began to explore space and the nearby territories once more, they quickly discovered that pirates and aggressors were extremely common. While they preferred to be on friendly terms with everyone they met, they were not so foolish to believe peace would always be possible or even achievable. To that end, the Firehawk-class Jedi Defenders came to be. As was common practice with Aldar vessels, they were capable of water landing or even submerging, and had movable Archonium hull plates which could move to reinforce damaged or vulnerable sections of the ship.
Armed with 2 dual light turbolaser turrets (mounted on the dorsal section of the head), 1 light turbolaser cannon turret mounted in the ventral section, 12 laser cannon turrets, with six mounted on stubby wings on either side, 2 forward-mounted ion cannons, and 4 concussion missile launchers, two of them rear-facing, this ship was more of a flying fortress than a starfighter or even freighter, and relied more on its firepower than speed or agility to see it through any situation.
Although small enough to be considered a fighter, a squadron of Firehawks could take on even capital ships with little to no support.
Only slightly faster than standard bombers, this ship needed some decent shielding and armour to protect it from enemy fire. The ship had a crew of 1 pilot, 3 gunners, and could carry 5 passengers as well as 150 metric tons of cargo. It bore some similarity in abilities, shape and function to the YV-929 Armed Freighter.
Squadrons of this ship were capable of engaging capital ships and other fighters at the same time to break through a blockade or out of one.
