Description:
With the creation of the Oshosi-class sniper frigate, Hadur worked to capitalize on destructive and effective long-range attacks. However, that wasn't enough. The company sought to possess a ship that delivered heavy, focused damage upon an enemy at close range as well. Though most of the ships created could unleash heavy damage, they were mostly conventional weaponry found on the average capital ship. Such a thing wasn't what the Aesir was about as the goal was vessels that served a specific role. And so the Aeron-class assault cruiser came into existence.
The first goal of the ship was figuring out what armament it would carry to unleash such devastation. With the Oshosi utilizing the mass driver cannons and the Shiva having the electromagnetic plasma cannon, the designers sought something new. The first thought came to the powerful and destructive nature of the SPHA turbolasers seen during the clone wars. However, this meant they needed a large ship that the unit could be installed in or mounted to. While powerful, it didn't suit the ideas they had for the vessel. After much research, the Aggressor-class Star Destroyer was used. Shrinking down the linked ion/plasma cannon, the powerful weapon served as the primary gun of the ship, the large double barrels resting at the front of the ship unleashing an ion pulse followed by spiraling plasma shot. Yet, this weapon was only meant to serve against larger targets or ships they could focus on for a few moments. In motion or lining up the main guns left it defenseless without additional weapons. Seeking to keep most of its power focused on the main gun, it received only six dual light turbolaser cannons and a pair of heavy ion cannons to keep it defended.
To ensure it was capable of getting close for successful shots, many ideas went into its design. The final product came in the form of a slender ship, mainly being focused enough to hold the destructive weapons. This smaller frame and its moderate armor allowed it to be faster than most of its class as its maneuverability was pushed further due to the maneuvering thrusters and engines four main engines that resided on adjustable mounted, helping to bring the rear of the ship around faster than normal. To finish it off, a small hangar rested at the back of the ship that held twelve starfighters for further support, though it gave up any need for troop capacity.
