Description:
As the Aesir line began to round itself out with its variety of ships capable of different tasks, only a single thought remained. While the larger ships served as mobile bases or flagships, there existed no smaller ship that served as a better mobile platform for high ranking officials or small teams among the factions. Through debate as well as trial and error, the eventual plans came to shape the Athene-class Corvette. Overall, the design and setup look inspiration from the Raider-class Corvette created by the Galactic Empire, though they sought to improve on a few features from speed, firepower, and stealth capabilities.
Creating a mix of power for the ship instead of just full-on capital ship combat, a dual heavy turbolaser cannon, and two regular dual turbolaser cannons to fixed forward for frontal capital ship assault while the six dual point-defense laser turrets defend it from starfighters, especially the rear pair that help protect its engines. Two heavy ion cannons fixed themselves on each side of the cockpit on swiveling mounts that can hit the front, top, or back, making it effective for running under larger ships and an unloading ion blasts into the shields. For a final touch, a pair of dual proton torpedo launchers were affixed to the front of the ship.
Meant to be a mobile command ship meant for small teams or high ranking officials, the ship was designed to function with a minimal crew, needing no more than ten to fifteen people to operate the vessel. To move more freely, it was a quick ship with an incredibly fast hyperdrive as well as a stealth field generator. For boarding actions or ground assaults, it could carry fifty troops.
