The Bruce Family Manor sat on a small lake a couple kilometers out side of Saffa. It fit with the rest of House Bruce's rustic designs, invoking the House's long and deep roots. Though for some years, House Bruce had been forced off the planet by usurpers, this estate had not been touched. It was maintained, despite the exile of their ladys, by a grounds keeper and a housekeeper. So even though it had been years since the owners had visited, it was still in good shape when Abigail returned to it, now an adult. It had room enough for the lady and her retinue, as well as a handful of guests. Though modest in appearance, it is rumored that beneath the rock it sits and the lake itself, more of the complex sprawls out, with secret passages and vaults. The grounds are well maintained with a variety of native flora. There are several sitting areas throughout, for meetings both business in nature, or for more personal randevus.

Abi had not been to the Manor since her return, it was a place that she could barely remember. But she knew she used to love coming here with her family. And an extra surprise awaited for her as her speeder came to a stop at the head of the path that lead to the manor. Standing their were two old and wrinkled men, Reginald and Malcolm. The two were the caretakers of the estate. Abi threw down her bags and rushed to hug the two men, who had helped her get into a fair bit of mischief in her time staying here. Together they, along with the House Bruce guards, and Alesha, all made their way down the winding path to the bridge that lead into the building. Abi set about getting the place ready, for she expected Aurora didn't yet have an apartment or home in the city, so would allow the Baroness to stay here. Also she arranged for some refreshments to be brought out to one of the meeting areas in on the grounds. A lovely copse of trees next to the lake would do nicely. There she waited the arrival of both Aurora and Lucien. It gave her time to steel her nerves and prepare herself for any fall out that may come from her decisions

Some time after beginning their trip from the starport, Aurora pulled the land speeder at long last up to the gates of the Bruce Manor. She had never visited the Manor in her youth, and had steered clear of this place during the intervening years when fighting against Derek. Aurora knew that Derek would have reduced this place to rubble if she or any of the others had come here.
The gates swung open, allowing Aurora to drive the land speeder along the pathway that cut across the yard right to the bridge that led across to the Manor itself. She pulled off to the side and parked the vehicle before jumping out. It was then, that she came face to face with one of Abigail's house guards. The man stood stiff and at attention clad in his armourBaroness Valhalla! Lady Bruce awaits you on the lawns, if you'd like, I will take you to her now...That won't be necessary, I will find her myself... For now, I'd ask that you show my guest to a room and where the dining hall is located. She could do with a meal and a place to rest while I have this meeting... As you wish...Aurora moved around the land speeder and offered a reassuring smile to Kent I'll catch up with you soon and I'll introduce you to Lady Bruce, but first me and her have... something to discuss in private. Ok? She gave a nod to the guard, indicating for him to make himself available to guide her into the Manor. Meanwhile, Aurora straightened up and headed across the grounds of the estate. She reached out within the Force, using it to locate Abigail's presence so as to head toward it. While the physical walk to find Abigail was not particularly long or far, it felt infinitely longer. It had been several days since Aurora had seen and spoken with Abigail, with Mikal having filled in for her during any meeting that had required Aurora's presence.
While she felt a sense of joy and relief to finally be seeing her friend again, Aurora was also filled with a sickening sense of dread about what was about to happen. She had faced death day in and day out for years, but none of it compared to this moment as she spotted Abigail seated beneath a grove of trees by the lake. The sun shining down through the trees casted a brilliant play of light and shadow upon the Lady Bruce's form. It was a breathtaking view, and one that Aurora had to pause for a moment to steel her nerves against. Part of her wanted to turn and run away, afraid of what was about to happen.
But she knew that she couldn't run from this. She had gotten herself into this and she had to see this through. She took a deep breath and continued across the grass at as steady a pace as she could manage. She did her best to wrestle her expression under control as she came to a stop behind one of the seats opposite to Abigail and offered a smile and a short bowCountess Bruce, thank you for the letter it... Uhm... I just wanted to apologize... What happened... I shouldn't have said that in front of everyone... I just... Despite her best efforts, it hadn't taken much for Aurora to get flustered around Abigail. Her cheeks took on a shade of red as she averted her gaze from Abigail. Her hands gripped the back of the seat a little harder as she tried her best to stay standing. She let out a bit of a sigh and forced her gaze back up to meet Abigail'sI'm just going to stop talking now...

Duke Malvern's hovercar came to the Bruce Manor, just outside of Saffia. Stepping out of the car, the male had ensured that his schedule was free for what was to come. It wouldn't do any good if the Lord Commander was too tired from government work. His mind was fresh and his person was... ready, as ready as one could be of course. Making an inquiry as to where the Lady Bruce was located, the Duke makes his way in.
The time between the doorway and where Lady Bruce was gave him time to think once more. Ever since what had happened, the thought of the Countess never ceased. Lucien felt terrible for what he had done and ensured that work busied his mind. It was a necessary move. He never made any attempt to contact her directly, but sometimes had to through her subordinates. If he felt he needed to speak, in a closer proximity, Lucien relied upon her grandmother, using her as a means to speak to the Countess. However, there were a few times that the Duke did speak with her over holoimage, directly. His duties, as Lord Commander, required him to know the reviving strength of House Bruce and her vassals. Their assets and manpower would be helpful to know in the coming schemes and plans that were being adjusted and examined daily by himself and a staff of military experts. Lucien did his best not to be distant with her, but the Duke was careful not to mention what had occurred before.
The Duke goes to the other end of the Manor, and heads outside, where Abigail and Aurora were. Lucien, politely, bows his head to Aurora, then turns to the Countess. His feet snap together, right arm over his chest, and a formal bow was given to Lady Bruce. Lucien then waited a few moments before raising his head to Abigail.
Lady Bruce, it is good to see you again. I am pleased to hear of your domain's swift recovery. I hope the resources, from Fiyarro, were of good use.
Lucien begins speaking, formally, with the Countess. His eyes rest upon her for a moment before the male continued to speak.
I thank you for your letter and for the time given involving... this subject. I am sorry that it was thrust upon you in such a rude manner. I hope that it did not give you too much distress. And if it did, please, accept my apology. It was never my intention and I should have been more reserved in my actions.
Lucien bows once more, less formal than before, before raising his head. With that said, he awaits to see what was to be said.

Abi was staring out at the calm waters as Aurora arrived. She turned and gave her signature half smile to the young Baroness, even as the woman apologized, she smiled warmly and friendly. But before Abigail needed to respond, they were joined by the next guest. Lucian also arrived and offered his own apologies and explanations, but this again was greeted by the kind smile of the Countess, who rose and curtsied to the Duke, as was custom. She then indicated the wicker table in front of her and the pair of wicker seats. Indicating that the both sit.
Please, relax. Know that I forgave each of you that same day, in fact, I was never really upset with either of you. I was more surprised and confused. Her friendly expression turned to one of anxiety on her own part, her heart was pounding in her chest. Outwardly she may seem nervous, but it was nothing compared to what was happening inside her head and heart. You see, when I was little, I dreamed that one day I would be saved from my exile by a hero. But that dream faded as I grew up, in fact it became lost in my lessons and my own drive to save my family name. And when I arrived back here, on Serenno, I was so focused on freeing my people, that I seem to have been blinded to everything else around me. Even parts of my dream. She pauses. Once more, Abi looks out at the lake, before looking down. I owe you both an apology. I should have paid more attention, been more mindful of the feelings of those closest to me. But I wasn't and when you each came forward, it caught me so off guard and I couldn't give you the sure answers you deserved. Abi stops again for a moment, catching her breath. Everything was so hot right now and she could feel her checks turning red. Her heart was racing. She was having trouble finishing her thought but knew every second she waited would make things harder. So one more breath. I still can not. She feels the slightest sign of tears starting to form. I- I... She moves back to her seat and takes it. She is fighting to maintain her composure, but the cracks were their the moment she saw the pair, hearts in their hands, offered to her. You are both wonderful friends. I... Never expected this. She had had a planned speech, that would have set this all to rest, but now she was making everything worse. Force no! A tear broke lose from her left eye and rolled down her check. Another deep breath. And finally something broke, that let her speak her mind in a trembling voice. I- I don't want to hurt either of you. And I do have feelings for each of you, but I don't know who I... Another pause, a battle to regain some composure, though not much good it would do, as both eyes watered now. I guess what I am trying to say, is if you will give me more time, I will try and find out, but please, even though you have every right to, please don't hate me for this. The last thing I wanted was to lead either of you on... I'm sorry. With that last apology, she looked at the two suitors, waiting for their response. She braced herself for the worst but not very successfully.

Aurora managed a half bow toward Duke Malvern when he arrived, still keeping a hand tightly gripped to the chair. Between her choice to wear her armour and the fact that she had been raised more soldier than noble lady, a graceful curtsy like that pulled off by Abigail was well out of the question. More so because Aurora still felt a little unsteady standing up. Which is why she was thankful for the offered seat a few moments later, which she did her best to gracefully move around and slip into.
Little did Aurora realize how thankful she would be for the seat as the following few moments unfolded. At first a sense of relief was felt upon hearing that Abigail had never been upset. But such confidence projected from Abigail quickly melted away moments later. It broke her heart to force herself to remain there as Abigail spoke and seemed to breakdown as she kept speaking. A part of her wanted to stop Abigail there and interrupt her, but as uncultured as Aurora might be in court, she knew this was far too important to be so brash with. With each word spoken and tear that was shed, Aurora hated herself a little more for her part in all of this. For the pain she had caused someone that she professed to love and care about.
Despite how unfamiliar she was in this sort of territory, even she could tell this was not how you should make someone you claim to love feel. Aurora gripped the chair arms tightly for a moment, gathering her strength to herself. The moment Abigail finished speaking, she rose from her seat with a serious look on her face. A look she fought to maintain and focus on so she could will herself to act as she moved around the table and came to a stop next to Abigail. She reached into a hidden compartment of her armour and produced a small pink handkerchief. Her expression softened into something of a sad smile as she handed the handkerchief to Abigail. Using the moment to grip her friends wrist and pull Abigail to her feet, before Aurora drew her in for a hug and just held Abigail there for a moment.
Finally Aurora regained the courage and composure to speak again. She did her best to offer as reassuring a smile as she could manage then. Though being this close, Abigail would no doubt be able to pick up on the mix of emotions that were crashing one upon another You have nothing to be sorry for A-Abigail... Neither of us has made this easy on you by any means... We're meant to be friends, and when you needed me most, I wasn't there for you... Instead, I avoided you as much as possible and left Mikal to try and fill my place... That was wrong of me and for that, I am sorry. And while I cannot speak for Duke Malvern, I think even he can agree that we have absolutely no right to hate you for any of this... Aurora signed and took a deep breath, trying to muster as much more of her strength as she could for her friend to feed off of I cannot take back what I said in those halls, but I still mean every word of it. Even if you do not end up feeling the same way, I just wanted you to know. I will always be your friend Abigail, and I promise I will stand by your side from here on out, no matter what happens... The only person I can hate, is myself and my actions which have hurt you. I took a vow to protect you, and I failed that promise... But the thing is, you don't need someone to protect you... You never became blinded to parts of your dream... The reason that dream faded is because you became that hero you dreamed of... You came back from your exile yourself, without anyone carrying you like a damsel in distress, and united those loyal to you beneath your banner. And now your home is once more your own, Annandale is free, because of you... She relaxed her grip upon Abigail then, letting the Countess pull free from the hug if she so chose to Take all of the time you need...

Lucien remains silent as Abigail makes her statement. The Duke could tell that these were hard words for her to say, considering the circumstance that resulted in it. The exposure of feelings and emotions right before her own noblemen and women! Not to mention her revered grandmother. What an idiotic move that had been! For now, Malvern simply keeps his peace, not daring to interrupt nor speak before all was said. It wasn't hard to feel that she was absolutely troubled with what had transpired and that her mind was clearly not made up. In the end, when all was spoken, Lucien could only accept what was said. His good father had taught him that; always give a lady her room and her space. It was the gentleman thing to do after all.
And as such, when he got his chance to speak, a respectable distance was kept. The Duke did not have the history that Aurora had that would allow her to remotely be closer. She was a retainer, after all, someone to be trusted and looked to as a sword and shield. Lucien had only known the Lady Bruce from his childhood and due to recent events concerning her return to Serenno. Still, the Duke had something to say nonetheless.
Lady Valhalla is right. There is no hate toward you. No impatience, no ill-will, nothing towards you. If there was, neither one of us should have been here.
Lucien begins speaking.
There is only one action to take, one statement to say, Lady Bruce. And that is to understand and accept what has been said. You do not need to ask for time. Time is simply something not given, but is an absolute, an imperative, given your words. We can only understand and accept, no more. Patience will be required of us, a patience that will ensure you have your time and space, all that you need, in order to carefully consider and think.
Lucien glances away for a moment, looking towards the rebuilt Saffia. After, he turns back, looking at the Lady Bruce.
It is fortunate that Serenno is free and your people are safe... I would not want this on your mind if you were fighting to secure your people's freedom and future. I can only hope that you do what you feel is right. I do not want you having any regrets, Abigail. I only want you to be happy and to feel fulfilled. I know Aurora likely feels the same way, considering what she has said.
The Duke pauses in his speaking, not sure if there was anything else to say. He quietly rolls his fingers on the top of the chair, his mind contemplating for a moment. Lucien then looks at Lady Bruce, nodding his head slightly.
It's not like either of us are going anywhere after all. We still have duties to attend to, duties to our people and the future of our cause. Duties that do come before what is being said now. Do not think we will be mad if we have to wait a long time. If a long time is required, so be it. We will be patient.

Thankful for the kind words, though a little less so at the part where she was made to stand, her legs still felt weak beneath her. She nodded as she took the handkerchief gratefully all the same. She stayed in the hug for a time, letting the moment pass as she listened to both people. She broke away after a moment and continued to dab at the tears on her face.
I can not thank you two enough for your kind words. I have been so focused on getting my lands back in order that I had not seen what should have been so obvious. And- And I thank you for your patients. I cannot be sure when I will know the answer. But I will let you know when I do. Until then I am just lucky to have such good friends as you.
She sat back down though as she finished speaking, still unsteady and needing the sureness that a sturdy chair could provide.
If you are both of a mind, I can arrange for lunch in the manor?

Aurora took a step back as Abigail freed herself from the hug. While the matter they had gathered to discuss was not yet settled, Abigail at least seemed reassured by both Malvern and Aurora's words. And that was something more than enough for now. It had also given Aurora the chance to face Abigail and come to terms with being able to spend time with her Liege Lady once more. She re-took her seat at the same time as Abigail and managed to offer a smile Lunch does sound quite agreeable, it would also be a good opportunity to introduce you to my new... potential apprentice. As long as you do not mind the extra company?

No answer this time, but it did not bother Lucien. The Duke had other business to attend to. Perhaps it was best that no answer came now, considering the plans that were to be known within a short time. And, certainly, Lady Bruce had more important matters to attend to herself. Annandale was on the fast road to recovery from the years of slavery and warfare. And it was likely all because of her leadership and decisive action that saw it prosper once more.
Malvern hears the offer of lunch and considers it for a moment before speaking.
I can partake in some lunch. I do have some business to attend to, but a break is necessary... I have been in the government halls since this morning.
Lucien admits, having spoken with military experts and strategists. Other than that, the usual business within the Hall of Lords and so forth. The government was rather alive now, with Serenno united. Plans were being made left and right in order to prepare for the future to come. Now, the Jedi Lords to could look to the stars and seek to liberate people from destructive regimes.

With her invitation excepted, Abi seemed to regain some of her strength as she sniffed away the last remnants of her break down and rose. Excellent, Reginald is an wonderful cook. You won't be disappointed! As she lead the way she turned to each of them in turn to reply to their statements. First Lucien.Oh yes, I imagine as Lord Commander you are kept quite busy, especially with what I have heard whispers of. She then turned to Aurora. You are seeking an apprentice? Wonderful! You will make a fine teacher, I'm sure of it! Soon the trio was crossing the threshold into the venerable Bruce Manor itself. A very old building, but expertly preserved and maintained. Updates to the Manor's infrastructure seemed hardly visible. It was like stepping back in time to days long before space travel were possible or even dreamed of. But soon they were all sitting down to the table, where it seems Reginald had anticipated their hunger and invitation. A small but hearty luncheon was spread before them. And per the request of Aurora, Kent had already been seated and offered refreshment as well.

Aurora followed close beside as Abigail led the way across the grounds and back to the castle. She blushed slightly as Abigail exclaimed that she would be a good teacher, something Aurora was not completely sure about just yet I wasn't exactly seeking an apprentice, so much as I happened upon her at the spaceport... But thank you for your confidence in me my lady... While she was fairly confident in her own abilities to train Kent, it was refreshing to hear Abigail express such confidence in her abilities. Soon though, they were entering the castle and found themselves seated at the dining table. Aurora, having taken a seat next to Kent, motioned from the young girl to the Duke and Countess Kent, allow me to introduce Countess Abigail Bruce and Duke Lucien Malvern of the Jedi Lords... My Lady and Lord, this is Kent Austin...

This was by far the fanciest place Kent had ever been in. She had seen vids of places like this but never experienced them in person. This made the teenager nervous. Experience is what kept her alive, here she was going in blind. She was made even more nervous because she was by far the most under dressed person around. Her ill fitting plain gray robes she received on Felucia were a stark contrast to the nobility displayed around her. The servants were dressed much better than her. She felt like a peasant in the house of a king, but she supposed that wasn't far from the truth. When Aurora introduced her, Kent had no idea how to respond. The dirty faced teenager awkwardly stood up and looked around.

Abigail offered a wink and a finger tapping the side of her nose in answer to Lucien's request to keep the plans she had heard of under her hat. She knew better than to blurt out court secrets, even in this relatively safe company. You never knew who could be watching and listening. But they were soon sitting down and Abigail met Kent. She offered a very friendly smile to the young woman. It was strange, something was familiar about her face. But she was also curious about these girl, who had stumbled into Aurora at the space port.
Aurora tells me you met at the port. Where are you from?

She shifted her focus from Kent over to Duke Malvern, as the man inquired about Kent. She was not sure what answers the Duke was seeking, so she figured she would address them as plainly as she possibly could She has tried to train under several Jedi Masters, but so far she has found them... lacking. Kent has a great deal of potential within the Force. So I offered her a deal of sorts... I would train her on something of a probationary basis. If she wishes to continue under my tutelage after that time, then we will make it official...

Her skills offered her no help in this situation. Her brain and the Force gave nothing to keep a street rat from being extremely nervous in the presence of nobility. The girl stuttered her answers.
I... I don't really know... I don't remember anything other than faces from my infancy, but I was captured and enslaved by pirates, after a while I was living on Nar Shadda, then Felucia, now I am here... I am sorry, I have never met a Countess.

Lady Bruce couldn't help but smile a little at how adorable young Kent was. But she did frown a little as she heard about the awful business of slavery, an institution that she detested (as any sane and good natured person should). But the smile returned as Kent apologized for never having met a Countess.
My, you have had quite an eventful young life. And for one so young too. Well, I hope that you may find some good rest here on Serenno. And I also hope you take it easy on dear Baron Valhalla. She gave a quick wink to the young woman as she took another bite of her food. Oh, and please, do be at ease. I am not easily offended when someone unfamiliar with our customs doesn't know, the frankly, ridiculously long list of rules of etiquette.

A bit odd that these Jedi Masters were found to be lacking in their abilities to teach Kent. Was that a personal opinion or were they not good teachers? The Duke would not pry into that topic. The Baroness wouldn't have taken up this apprenticeship if she had any doubts after all. Then I hope you can succeed where others have failed, Baroness. Kent always hid the more tragic parts of her past from new people. Pity quickly turned to taking advantage of someone in her experience. She had made fast friends before who promised her the oppertunity fro greatness, they had wanted to use her and lose her. Many of them were dead, in cells, or had bounties on their heads. She suspiciously looked from the Duke to the Countess. She was still too nervous to really act. She said the first thing that came to her mind. I don't have the dress for anything like that. It wasn't meant as a joke, more just the girl being in awe of her surroundings and the well dressed people around her.
