Life on Roon continued on as it had before the Blackguard invasion and subsequent occupation. Resources were mined and processed, Roostones were sold to bolster the economy and the planet itself was reinforced. Due to the difficult nature of getting to the planet, Roon was secured enough itself, but the Blackguard wasn't taking any chances. Prosperity continued on Roon, keeping the populace in line and content.

Mistress Asondra Valken was the Sith Overseer assigned to Roon, at General Xethuys' recommendation. As with all of his Sith Overseers, they were chosen from the hidden Sith Academy at Odacer-Faustin. The Sith'ari had given Xethuys full reign on those he chose, so long as they were loyal to the Imperium and the Sith'ari. Charged with overseeing the local governors as well as reporting any anomalies to the general, who would in turn, send a response as necessary, the Sith Overseers were meant to be the first line of defense against any sort of dissent or rebellion from local populations. So far, the populations remained loyal and obedient, but even so, the Overseers job remained important.

Roon, hidden by the Cloak of the Sith, was starting to see an influx of supplies, troops and materials. The Imperium was gearing up for something, but high command remained tight-lipped in the subject. Resources began to be stockpiled as training and military exercises began to increase in frequency.

123rd Regiment - Kruhl Battalion Kruhl Battalion, formerly assigned to Eviscerator Station in orbit over Ziost, suffered few losses during Malvus's coup d'etat. Thankfully, having been stationed in orbit over the world, they hadn't been infiltrated like some of the other battalions that served on the surface. Having been ordered to withdraw once Malvus's plan had been uncovered, Kruhl Battalion, along with the other forces fleeing Ziost, they regrouped on Mustafar and had their ranks replenished. Once back up to full strength, the battalion was posted to Nime on Roon. And it was here that they continued to serve the Imperium.

The City of Nime, a port city on the Roon Sea, was currently being visited by Mistress Asondra Valken, the Sith Overseer of Roon. Blackguard operations within this city continued unabated. The exportation of Roonstones ensured the economy remained strong, and the importing of various other goods that Roon required from other world under the Imperium's banner, ensured that there was a thriving trade across the territories. This kept Kruhl Battalion of the 123rd Regiment occupied, with security checkpoints as well as local enforcement of the Overseer's will when needed, though all in all, Roon remained a loyal and compliant territory for the Blackguard.

City of Nime - Roon. Valken Estate
Asondra Valken sat lounging in the whirling hot tub on the deck of her estate, overlooking the Roon Sea. Several servants were present, as were a handful of guards and Major Carl Lasher, leader of Kruhl Battalion. In recent months, Asondra had taken to the Major, earning his loyalty as well as his devout belief that she was to be the heiress to the Imperium's throne. A fabrication she happily reinforced. It gave her leverage over the local battalion and made them bend knee to her will. Which was incredibly fortunate for her. Intelligence reports coming in were indicating that Order 212 had been executed. And since she hadn't received any advanced warning of it, she knew where she stood. Expendable. Hung out to dry. The Imperium was changing and she wasn't to be apart of it. Not that it mattered much to her. With Roon being one of the first worlds claimed by the Blackguard Reborn in its infancy, Roon was well defended and had troops to spare. She knew they'd be coming for her, eventually. Which is why she was prepared. All planetary defenses were operational and ready to engage the Imperium should they come knocking. When they came knocking. Having been in talks with Magister Thedas on Kamino, they had entered a pact, should this eventuality become real. Should Roon become attacked by the Imperium, Kamino would be notified, as would Pzob and any other territory nearby with an Overseer that had been excluded from Order 212. They would form the Warlords. A splinter faction that would repel the Blackguard Imperium's initial attempts to take their resources back or force compliance. Once the Imperium had been forced to rethink its strategy, the Warlords would regroup, pool their resources and lay claim to the territories the Imperium abandoned. All under her leadership, of course. Thedas disliked the idea, initially, however he had been coerced to accept her point of view. Aden Vykus, on the other hand, was still the wild card. He claimed he wanted to revolt against the Blackguard, but he hadn't committed to the idea fully. At this point, it was inconsequential to her. If Vykus didn't want to cooperate, then he'd reap what he sowed. It just gave Valken and Thedas more territory for themselves. It would only be a matter of time before the Imperium came to force compliance. And they would be ready.

City of Nime - Roon. Blackguard Imperium Armed Forces Command Center123rd Regiment - Kruhl Battalion Despite Order 212 having come through, it seemed as though Overseer Valken had her own agenda. One that differed from what the Sith'ari had in mind for the Imperium. Major Carl Lasher and the rest of Kruhl Battalion were pinned down inside the Imperium Armed Forces Command Center that had been built in the city of Nime shortly after the Blackguard's occupation of Roon. Intended to become a fortress world in its own right, Roon had been part of a much grander scheme that had since been abandoned. Even still, the infrastructure that had been put into place was formidable. Which made it very difficult to fight back, when the majority of the planet's defenses were poised against you. Fortunately, the Command Center was well defensible and was designed to withstand a much larger siege than it was currently experiencing. Still, having a reprieve from the fighting wouldn't go unnoticed. Reports coming in, indicated that the Fortress of Tawntoom was also under siege by forces loyal to the Overseer. Scattered reports also indicated that the Imperium had arrived in force to liberate the planet and deal with the rogue Overseer, so hopefully reinforcements would arrive soon...

City of Nime - Roon
Lizbeth Klassen and her Sith Knights,Kanasazi Squad, had managed to infiltrate Nime with little difficulty, which was impressive, given the state of readiness the Overseer's troops were at. Though the space battle above might have served as more of a distraction. Whatever the reason may have been, they had infiltrated and collected a surprising amount of intel in regards to the Overseer's force deployment. They had even managed to convince the Overseer's commanders that the Imperium was landing forces to the northern outskirts of the city. A ruse that Grand Admiral Bennette was more than happy to oblige with. Pushing the bulk of the Overseer's forces north of the city and into the northern sectors of the city itself, gave the Sith Knights room to move. Lizbeth lay prone on a rooftop with a clear line of sight to the Overseer's Estate. Security was tight. Though that was expected. And the nine Sith Knights were more than capable of taking down the entire estate. Which was the whole plan, though it was slightly more precise than simply blowing the Overseer's door down and killing all her troops. Logan Tallis, the cyborg member of the team, had volunteered to cause the distraction. From her perch, Lizbeth watched silently.*
*In the plaza below, Tallis approached the gated entrance of the Overseer's estate. Predictably, the guards immediately flagged him and attempted to stop him. Procuring his saber hilt from the folds on his tattered cloak, the cyborg ignited the blade and quickly dispatched the two guards. The disturbance caused several more guards to deviate from their assigned spots and investigate.
You wish to stand against me, then you shall all die!
The cyborg roared to his foes, knowing full well they'd take the bait. From the opposite side of the estate, Devin Kurn and Zavrin Solesta scaled the walls and snuck in to cause their own version of a distraction near what had been determined as the guard barracks. Kaylyn Dolven, a human female, was attacking a supply convoy to the south of the estate, drawing more attention away from the estate itself. That left Lizbeth, Amelia, Deshra and Tanya to infiltrate the Estate itself, locate Overseer Valken and take her down. Rising to her feet, Lizbeth motioned to the others. Gathering the Force around her, she launched herself off the rooftop towards the wall surrounding the estate. Landing lightly on her feet, she signaled for the others to follow her in...

City of Nime - Valken Estate
Asondra stood in the command center at the sublevel of her estate, observing what was transpiring. A well executed, simultaneous ploy had just revealed the Sith Knights that had infiltrated the planet prior to the rest of the Sith'ari's fleet showing up in orbit. She had known something was amiss, but couldn't be certain and didn't want to over extend her hand in trying to reveal them. Given adequate time, they had chosen to reveal themselves. Operating on the orders of the Sith'ari, no doubt. First news of a supply convoy coming in from the south had reported being attacked by a lone warrior wielding a lightsaber. Second, a rather destitute looking being had engaged the guards at the main gate, which, she had to admit, was rather bold. Next, the barracks had come under attack from two warriors identified as Sith Knights and now the proximity sensors along the walled perimeter were sounding, indicating more uninvited visitors. Exceptionally trained and absolutely devout to the Sith'ari, the Sith Knights were not to be underestimated. Asondra knew better than to assume she would beat them all in one on one combat. Though the acolytes under her employ could certainly wear them out and slow them down. Everything she threw at them right now would be a delaying tactic. The engagement to the north of the city had obviously been a ploy to draw her forces out, she could see that now. Unfortunately, she was committed. She'd have to deal with the intruders herself, when the time came to it. For now, she'd allow her troopers and acolytes deal with them, wear them down and burn them out.

Overseer Vallen's Estate, City of Nime - Roon.
Lizbeth's violet blade sizzled and crackled as she deftly deflected several blaster bolts back at their source, effectively dropping several Sith Troopers. Deshra Kal-Vann was on her six, ensuring no one was able to flank them. Amelia and Tanya had gone off on their own, to draw some of Asondra's guards away from them. So far, it was working. Resistance was tough, but manageable for the time being. And the control center where the Overseer was allegedly supposed to be, was just ahead. "Deshra! The door!" Called out Lizbeth, as four droids came marching down the hall towards them. As they opened fire, Lizbeth deflected several bolts back, though only one was returned to its source. As she contended with the approaching droids, Deshra plunged one end of her doublesaber into the security door, carving a neat hole in the durasteel. As it fell inwards, Deshra proceeded through. Standing before her was several Sith Troopers, a dozen B1 battle droids and the Overseer herself. A bemused look of surprise had crossed her face. Moments later, Lizbeth stepped through. Breathing heavily, she pointed her violet blade at the Overseer. "By order of the Sith'ari, you have been convicted of high treason! Surrender now, or face the consequences!" Lizbeth didn't actually expect the Overseer to comply, but perhaps some of her troopers would stand down. Though she highly doubted that too. As she stood there, blade pointed at the Overseer, Amelia Corvin also appeared, followed closely by Tanya Orellis. At least the odds were now seemingly in their favor...

Beneath the cobblestone streets of the port city of Nime, a massive underground aqueduct system allowed for the flow of water and the movement of goods throughout the city without impeding the ground above, allowing for narrower streets and increased residential housing, with businesses jammed in between and wherever space could be found. These water ways inevitably connected to the sewer systems that managed each settlements waste, systems that were linked even to the great Fortress of Tawntoom, where the dark apothecary of the Sith Eternal kept his flesh pits and research laboratory. One such tunnel led directly from the fortress to the aqueducts, flushing the occupied facility's waste out to the sea, flowing as a river of liquid filth. Upon these fetid waters trawled a river barge, twenty meters long and almost half as wide, old and creaking. The hull had once been black but had been corroded rust brown in places thanks to the wear of time. Toxic smoke spewed from an exhaust stack that rose above it, chocking the tunnel with a carcinogenic cloud of cancer inducing pollutants. Teams of river-ranats operated the old scow, whipping gangs of slaves beneath the deck to keep the oars moving whenever the tunnel was wide enough. Upon the deck stood the midnight shrouded form of the mad alchemist himself, clawed toe talons gripping the deck like penetrating pincers. The rotting wood protested under years of strain and shredded to splinters in places where he walked. He leaned over the edge at the prow, clawed hands gripping the railing as he peered into the pungent dark waters they traversed, noting the aroma of human excrement and all manner of things foul. He grinned, revealing wicked rows of curved incisors, before flicking the air with his forked tongue and drawing in a long breath through his slit nostrils, savoring the pleasant bouquet of offal.
Standing near the black scaled barabel were a number of beady eyed night-vermin in dark tattered cloaks soiled and spattered with filth. They stood in silence as they regarded the Hungering One, who turned from the sludge they treaded through and looked on them with bloody orbs of dark crimson, glowing in the shadow of the tunnel. They fidgeted nervously, never quite certain what to expect from the saurian Sith, whose mood was rarely predictable. Steam hissed from the diabolical draconian's maw as he opened his mouth to speak, gracing the occupants of the boat with his melodious reptilian rasp. "My devoted servantz, above uz iz the city of Nime, an important resssource for the ssslowly ssswelling numberz of the Sssith Eternal. Goodz flow through it, trade iz prosperouz, and accesss to the sssea iz jussst beyond. If it were up to me, we would rissse from the depthz and feassst upon the flesh of thossse that live above; however, the sssupreme leader in hiz/her infinite wisssdom, haz decreed that our presssence iz to remain unannounced for the time being. Thuz we mussst move in sssecret...for now." Grasping his arms behind his back, the Hungering One began to pace across the deck, walking from one end to the next. His long tail appendage swayed behind him, dragging a serrated length of iron that capped the end, carving further furrows into the deck. The sinister blade glistened under the blood lamps that illuminated the dim lit river barge, suggesting that the weapon was likely coated in some form of poison. The ranats in attendance followed the stalking saurian with their beady little eyes, chittering excitedly amongst themselves. Finally the serpentine Sith ceased his pacing and returned his attention to the parasite ridden flock of vermin.
"Yet we will not remain idle. Even now your brotherz and sisterz of the vermintide burrow beneath our clawz, expanding the under realm to the city above. Under the cover of night, you will ingratiate yourselvez into all aspectz of Nime sssociety. I expect the authoritiez to be bribed and bought, and thossse working actively againssst the law az well. Smugglerz, sssyndicate memberz, lowly ssstreet toughz...all mussst ssserve our purpossse. Mossst of all, you will sssecure a tithe from the populace for our benevolent 'protection'. We are owed a debt of blood and you shall begin collecting thiz very night. Sssneak into their domicilez while they sssleep and sssnatch their offssspring from their very bedz, then bring them to me. The Eternal haz need of them and I require more subjectz for my experimentz."
Mousy cheers rose from the collection of sentient rodents as they raised gnarled paws in support of their masters wicked plan. Slender tails slapped the deck rhythmically. Dragus looked at them with hungry eyes, feeling the fiendish tune given life beating within his chest, egging him on further. He released his hands from behind his back and raised his claws towards the ceiling of the aqueduct they had just entered, succumbing to the fawning and praise of his disease breeding sycophants. He could see the twisted gleam of greed in their eyes as they cheered him on in rapidly spoken rat-speech. He thumped his own tail on the deck to get their attention, splintering the wood and nearly cracking the rotten board underneath.
"You will move unssseen, known only az a bedtime tale to frighten children. But we will own thiz city. I...will own thiz city." He let loose a terrible hiss, misting those present with a deluge of hot crimson rain and steaming spittle. "Now go, ssspread my will and collect what iz owed."
Planks and rotten boards were lowered over the sides of the barge, slapping down hard on the duracrete walkways that lined the tall tunnels of the aqueduct, allowing scores of night-vermin to scurry across to the land and begin to ascend rusted rungs to the streets above. Due to the rotation of Roon during this particular calendar year, the city was under the night side of the planet at the moment. Ranats of various shapes and sizes poured from sewer grates and manhole covers, taking to alleys and scampering across rooftops, moving unseen by the unaware populace. Dragus watched them go with a mad gleam in his bloody gaze. He licked the crimson beads from his scaly lips and turned back to the ranat at the steering yoke, motioning him aside as he took the wheel in hand and began to turn the scow towards another tunnel. For now he would operate out of a temporary laboratory beneath the city, smaller than his apothecarium in the fortress and without all the amenities of a well stocked lab, but serviceable enough for the experiments he had planned in the coming days. He would honour his oath to the Supreme Leader as best as he was able, but that did not mean he wouldn't bend a rule or two wherever possible.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" A blood curdling shriek violated the otherwise quiet night as Irena Velmor ran through the back alleys that crisscrossed the port city of Nime. Hot tears nearly blinded her as she fled from the beast that was quick on her trail, pursuing her from the shadows with which it seemed to meld. Her breath came with desperate ragged strain, her legs struggled to overcome the fear and build up of lactic acid, while her bladder had completed vacated into her soiled pants. Fear and adrenaline were all that gave her wings now as she sought to escape the monster that even now snarled in her ear. Mother had been right. Oh, why had she not listened? She had been warned about the dangers of going out after curfew, driven by foolish carnal desire, fooled into thinking there would be no harm. Now her lover was an eviscerated stain on a wall behind her favourite cantina, and she was running for her life. She looked over her shoulder and saw the gleaming red eyes of her pursuer, noting the hot steam that escaped the monster's fanged maw as it closed the distance between them. Trembling and nearly at her end, she gasped as her body struck something in her way, spilling the fear possessed girl to the wet and filthy alley floor. Looking up, she saw the white armoured form of her only hope and saviour. A stormtrooper! Blathering incomprehensibly, she wrapped her arms around the trooper's legs and cried for him to help her. "Please! Please, it's trying to kill me!" Rigidly enforced training awoke the soldier's instincts and he raised his blaster rifle, taking aim into the moving shadow that raced towards them. He managed a single shot before it was on them.Pew! Shhhhink! A lone blaster bolt sizzled into the darkness, while a glinting edge of serrated steel swiped across the trooper's front in an instant, striking at a nearly impossible angle to reach between his helmet and chest piece. A tide of crimson washed down the front of his armour, staining it in gore as the stormtrooper's life bled out of him. In seeming slow motion, the soldier's helmeted head tipped back beyond the normally possible extent, revealing that his spine had been severed and all that held his head to his body was a partial layer of muscle and skin. Dead on his feet, the stormtrooper collapsed backwards, bleeding out from his neck stump and drenching the girl that curled up in a corner beside him. The beast set upon the still warm corpse, raking its claws across the white carapace of the trooper's chest piece and shearing through the plastoid as though it were dried parchment. The black body glove underneath was revealed and with surgical precision, the demon's talons slit open the cadaver's belly. A scaled hand was thrust into the opening and reached deep into the human's bowels, grabbing hold of entrails before withdrawing the blood soaked claw. In his hand, Dragus held a length of intestines, examining it before his snout. He dragged a talon along the length and slit it open, spilling out digested filth as he studied the organ."Hmmm, no, thiz sssimply will not do. Far too frail when what I require iz sssomething more fibrouz." Scowling, the black scaled barabel tossed the gooey rope of organ aside and turned his attention back to the girl he had been pursuing. The pungent stench of her own voided bowels excited his predatory senses. The fear radiating off her in waves was palpable, felt in the fey and tickling his powerful sense of smell. His nostril slits widened as he sucked in her scent, a heady aroma of frightened hormones and salty sweat. Licking his blood stained lips, he stalked the female into a corner of the alley. Irena couldn't even bring herself to open her eyes. She just turned her head and tried to crawl away, pleading to whatever deity was worshipped amongst these parts for salvation. None was to be had. The saurian Sith grabbed her right arm by the wrist and twisted the limb so that he might inspect it more closely. A 'crack' sounded as her arm broke at the elbow, causing her to scream in tormented agony. Her shrieks didn't seem to bother him; in fact, they were a chorus to the symphony he hummed under his rancid breath. "Not nearly long enough for my need. But perhapz it can be ssstretched." He placed his other claw on her shoulder and pulled on the wrist, wrenching first the arm from its socket before a wet rip sounded and the limb tore from her torso. His scowl deepened and he threw the severed limb over his shoulder to join the bleeding refuse of the trooper. It was all so disappointing. The humans were plentiful on Roon, which was part of the reason the Sith Eternal employed them in such vast number to serve the whims and desires of the Supreme One. He had hoped they would serve for his latest experiment but after his investigation it was clear to him they lacked the physical qualities he required. If he wished to complete his latest project, he would need to look elsewhere for parts.Irena convulsed on the ground as she went into shock. Her life bled out from the ruined stump of her arm, her body growing colder by the second. Kneeling down, Dragus dug a clawed digit into the socket of one of her eyes and plucked the spherical organ free, severing the nerves holding it in place before plopping it into his mouth. His razor sharp incisors closed on the eye and shred it open, squeezing the jelly into his mouth which he swished about his maw with a forked tongue. Smacking his lips, he rose to stand and looked back at the tide of vermin that had followed him. The ranats blended well with the darkness, though their eyes sparkled like insidious gems, the sour scent of them teasing the Hungering One's insatiable appetite. Hissing at his sentient flock of rodents, the demonic draconian rasped his commands in his reptilian way."Dispossse of the bodiez. We needn't caussse a ssscene when morning comez." A single toe talon tapped on the greasy brick beneath his feet as he considered what comes next. "Sssave what partz you can. I might be in need of a sssnack before thiz night iz over."

It had been a lucky thing, finding the coordinates for Roon. The area was difficult to navigate enough as it was. Luckily, they had gotten ahold of the old coordinates used by the Blackguard. Even now, it seemed as if some remnant of the old Imperium functioned and gave Lassix a contact to gain this bit of info. Anything less and this trip would have been a bust. That or the trip would have been much longer as they sought to make the trip through real space.
That was a thing of the past now. The next bit was ensuring they weren't caught as they sought the source of Duvrax's calling. Though it seemed that they weren't being followed, Jonas wasn't one to relax just yet. Reaching just outside the port town, the man dropped off the ladies, electing to fly around a bit longer and scout things from the air as well as lose any possible tails.
With the girls dropped, the Fury-class Imperial Interceptor took off once more. Waiting until the ship was out of sight, the girls then moved into the town, senses alert and weapons at the ready should anything go wrong. Hopefully they could find something, despite the fact they had literally nothing to go on. It was nothing but their hope that something would present itself and soon.

As the ladies traversed the narrow streets of Nime, a verminous creature the size of a young child scampered across their path, pausing in front of them as its features were revealed in the light of day. It was no more than a meter tall, covered in greasy black fur save for its gnarled paws and wire thin tail. Its snout opened to reveal a skinny mouth full of yellow fangs. It focused two beady black eyes on the ladies and hissed at them, before dropping to all fours and scurrying the rest of the way across the road. The oversized rat dove into a rectangular sewer grate that looked far too small for it to squeeze its rodent body through. Somehow it managed, disappearing almost as soon as it appeared.
Ranats were a common enough sight in Nime these days, maybe more so than the Imperials, who were often assigned to exterminate them. The rest of the city was home to sailors, dock workers, the citizens that called it home, and even the occasional smuggler. Life here was more or less the same as one might find at any sea side port of calling, at least during the day. When night settled in, that was when things got really interesting.

For the most part, their entrance into the town was smooth. Even now, what few people that existed on the streets paid them no mind. Not even to Lassix, her garments being than more than a little revealing. Lune would have guessed that by now a couple passerbys would tried to pick her up, mistaken her for some whore. Yet now did. Either this place was mostly vacant or they had yet to reach the busy hours. Time would tell before long as the human imagined the later hours would fall soon, though Roon’s particular orbit kept the light to the sun bright upon the world.
As they moved, they were brought to a halt at the arrival of one of the local creatures. Such vermin weren’t uncommon in most places, but to have one so large traversing the streets of Nine was more than a surprise to the girls. It was bothersome enough that Lassix reached for her lightsaber, removing it from her belt. If it hadn’t been for Lyne grabbing her arm, the crimson blade would have come to life and the ranat dead. That, in and of itself, wasn’t much of an issue. It was the furthering drawing of attention that they needed to avoid.
Only when it vanished from sight did the Pantoran replace her saber, giving of a disgusted sigh as she looked away.
"Such revolting creatures. How could this place allow such things to wander their streets?"
Lyne only shrugged as she lifted her hands to the hood that covered her head, bringing it a bit lower over her eyes.
"I don’t know, but try to refrain yourself should another appear. We don’t need to draw attention to ourselves. At least yet."
Giving a nod, Lassix fell in behind Lyne. It was unclear what it is they were even looking for. The most they could do was let themselves dove into the Force and hope to sense something that could possibly lead them to what called Duvrax here. And so they did, letting the Force fill them, reaching out to the darkness in hope it would be the guide they needed.

The call of darkness was strong in Nime, though not obvious. As Lyne and Lassix extended their senses and sought the tell-tale pull of the malevolent fey, they would have felt a sharp tug coming from underneath the cobble stone streets they were standing on. Beneath their feet was a massive aqueduct that existed below a city that had practically been raised on stilts. These old stone waterways connected to the sewer systems that ran beneath the port like a maze, the filth water running into channels that eventually led out to sea. Somewhere down there in the dark, something insidious was calling to anyone brave...or perhaps foolish enough, to answer its siren call.
The effect it was having on the normal citizens, unaware of the dark presence beneath the narrow streets, was written upon their flesh. Many had bags beneath their eyes, suggesting a lack of sleep. Oddly, many reported nightmares when they slept. Then there were the whispers of the verminous rat-kin stealing babies from their cribs as they slumbered peacefully, never to be seen again.
Whatever the cause, something evil was afflicting Nime.

It was nearly instant, the swelling darkness that surrounded this town. Only a few steps from where the ranat crossed their paths and they already came to a sudden stop. Silence filled the air as the exchanged glances, both thinking the same thing. How could something this strong go so unnoticed? Surely even non-Force sensitives could tell something was amiss with such a sensation. Yet none seemed to noticed. Or, that was how it originally seemed. As they continued forward, their senses more attuned to their surroundings, they could see why the town was as inactive as it was. It wasn't necessarily the off hours, but the effects of the darkness. Worn and rugged, it appeared that many hadn't slept in quite some time and those that did, seemed even more visibly off by their actions. Fidgeting, sudden turns of the head suggesting panic or paranoia, the signs were starting to become so clear.
That only left one question: what was causing this?
It hadn't taken long before the girls were able to feel the direction of the pull. It came from below, a thought that repulsed Lassix. Yet, neither hesitated searching for a way beneath the city. After a few minutes of searching, they found a manhole that could that could grant them access. Lifting a hand, Lyne opened the portal with the Force, both girls descending shortly after with Lyne sealing it behind them. Reaching solid ground they moved forward a bit before they eyes became wide at the aqueduct system that existed. It was here that the sensation of the darkness grew stronger meaning they were on the right path. Zoning in further on the feeling, both girls drew their weapons, Lassix, a black hilt lightsaber that she kept quiet for the time being and Lyne, a blaster pistol. As they moved through the maze below the city, they made sure to be ready for anything.

The aqueducts were tall and wide, more than large enough to allow the passage of sanitation trawlers that on rare occasion traversed the fetid waters that flowed out of grated openings into the sea, filling the damp air with the revolting bouquet of raw sewage. It was dark below the surface, for the light was mostly limited to glow lichen that grew like mould on the old stone walls that supported the cobblestone streets of Nime above, or the few rays of radiance spearing from square pegged holes in manhole covers overhead. The occasional shimmer penetrated the filthy mire of flowing sludge as any available luminescence refracted off the scales of aquatic bottom feeders that made a meal of the rancid offal lining the bottom of the man-made river.
Rats, not the larger sentient vermin-folk that plagued the city but actual forearm sized sewer rodents, scurried across the slick stone paths that lined either side of the aqueduct. Occasionally one would slip into the putrescent currents, then swim for a short while before descending below the muck as something in those steaming waters snatched them up.
Loud chittering could be heard coming from the far end of the tunnel, echoing off the walls, seeming to come from all directions at once. Where the squeaks were loudest also happened to be where the pull of the darkside was strongest. In the opposite direction, the scampering of gnarled claws on grimy stone became increasingly audible as a group or pack of something much larger than simple sewer rats drew nearer.
Would Lassix & Lyne press on ahead, following the pull of the darkside towards the squeaking voices of the vermin folk? Or would they wait to see what manner of thing stalked in the dark towards their current position? Either decision was rife with danger.

For a bit of time, the girls progressed through the sewers, their pace slow and steady so as to not lose their footing and fall into the river of refuse. It was also for the fact they wished not to betray their approach for whatever might await them. To further aid this fact, they progressed by only the light provided them. Still, it was all it took for Lassix not to make any noise of disgust, something that amused Lyne greatly.
It wasn't long though before the chattering of mice grew louder and the presence of the darkness grew thicker. They were almost there. Soon, they'd see what rested beneath the city. Yet, before they could arrive, a new sound caught their attention. The sound of many thing approaching from behind. They both turned, contemplating what to do. A few choices awaited them. Stay or go after the creatures from behind, keep pressing forward, or split up and investigate both situations. Before a discussion could be made, Lyne looked to the Pantoran, lifting her blaster near her face.
"Keep going. Figure out the source of this darkness. It's why we came here. I'll stay here and hold off what's coming. Could be nothing, could be something. Better not to risk them coming up from behind and us focused elsewhere. Same for what's ahead. Don't let it sneak up on us and don't let it escape."
A long look came from Lassix before giving a nod and turning back they way they were heading. Things were changing now and time was becoming short. Breaking into a run, the crimson blade came to life, providing her light as well as a ready means to defend should an attack come from the front.
Lyne watched her friend disappear into the sewers before dropping to the ground prone. It was the most stable position she had at the moment for her blaster. It wasn't an ideal spot for a hunter, but she doubted she had time to check for any solid spots in the roof. Still, she was ready. Out of the twelve students that had followed Gavin and the ones that followed the twelve, none truly focused on blaster weaponry. Sure, they could use them if needed, but none carried them specifically. It gave her a long range advantage without use of the Force for plenty of situations. It was a shame she didn't carry any of her other, more effective blasters. Still, she was a skilled marksman and a skilled hunter. As such, better she stay behind instead of Lassix, who was a much more skilled duelist, training under two of the twelve, a Twi'lek named Kosrezic and a half bred Arkanian named Theranna, in both grace and speed.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, she brought up her communicator.
Jonas, we've think we may have discovered something in the sewers of the city. However, we are splitting up and may need assistance. Get back and head below the city. You should find us quickly.
With the message sent, she waited patiently as Lassix pressed forward.
