As the echoes grew louder and the sound of claws on the grime encrusted ground drew nearer, they were joined by horrendous shrieks and snarls. Rounding the corner were six loping bipedal creatures, with brown leathery flesh and four limbs that ended in curved hook like talons that could have served as surgical scalpels. Sparse but thick strands of of course hair, almost like insect legs in appearance, extended from their molted scalps. These were rakghoul, mutant monsters born of plague like disease and the most foul alchemical arts, likely having escaped from the fleshpits beneath the Fortress of Tawntoom. These tunnels stretched for kilometers, reaching even the volcanic crater upon which the Sith Eternal's seat of power rested, connecting one city to another. Known for his love of sithspawn, these beasts were likely the result of the cult's dark apothecary, whose security measures were known to be lax. They wouldn't have been the first monstrosities to escape his menagerie.Based on the tattered rags clinging to their retched mutant bodies, which beneath the matted layer of filth somewhat resembled the uniform of Nime's sewer maintenance department, these half dozen vile creatures were not the first generation of freak to traverse the odorous aqueducts. Meaning there were likely more plaguing the the city's bones. They came charging like a pack of wild beasts towards Lyne's prone position, drawn by the scent of unaltered flesh, their slathering jaws dripping with disease. Lassix's path would inevitably lead her to two storm vermin standing guard in front of a wrought iron door worked into the side of a portcullis that sank into the filthy sewage waters and prevented sanitation barges from going any further, where the ancient engineered tunnels began to slope dangerously downwards. Just beyond the two albino furred ranats, garbed in soiled rags themselves and wielding rusty spears, was the entrance to a tunnel hewed into the stone wall. It led deep into their warren, a series of dirt passages and tunnels dug by the gnarled claws of worker rats. Somewhere in those foul depths was the thing that had called to them. A beacon of utter blackness that swelled with the darksides taint.Squinting with their beady eyes in the dark, the meter tall duo lowered their spears cautiously and squeaked at one another as their whiskers twitched at Lassix' approach. Like the rakghoul, their dominant sense was scent rather than sight.

As the sounds grew louder, Lyne's breathing became steady as she focused herself on her shots, not worrying about what manner of creature was coming for her. The very moment they rounded the corner, the shots came. She cared not for their appearance, only the location of their heads and chest. The first in line was hit by three bolts, two the head and a single one to the chest where it was guessed the heart would be. She fired another three bolts in rapid succession at the same locations on the second. They were moving too quickly for her to take them all down from this distance with a single blaster pistol. But dropping the first two did grant her a bit of time as the rest stumbled, jumped, and moved around their dead brethren. This granted her the time she need, to push herself up to her feet and into a Force-enhanced backflip that gave her more distance to attack with.
As she went on her flip, she holstered her blaster pistol. The moment the flip ended and she began her downward descent, her hands, reached for the weapons hanging from each side of her waist as she threw them one right after the other, first her right, then her left. The pair of chakrams left her hands, the pointed edges threatening the tear and gash at anything they passed as the spun through the air. Despite their speed and sudden emergence, the two rakghoul their were aimed at managed to avoid a direct hit, through one grazed and arm and the other a leg.
Hitting the ground, she bent a knee to help absorb the impact before standing sharply and twisting her body and hands, summoning the weapons back to her via the Force. Curving and crossing each others path, the found their original marks, unsuspecting of the rear attack. The pointed end dove deep into their backs, the force sending them to the ground as the blades pun harder as the torn themselves free of their backs and returned to her hands. A single rakghoul seemed to wise up a bit as the sudden chaos brought it to a stop, though the other remaining creature continued its charge. This one seemed a bit bigger than the rest. Stepping back on her left foot, she let the rings rest on a single finger each and her arms dropped. She then forced them into a spin as her lifted into the air, gripping them as they came over her head. Focusing the Force into them, the Force-enhanced weapons first began to glow a burning orange before igniting in flame. At that very moment, her arms came down as she threw them straight at the charging creature, now but a dozen feet away at best. They impacted hard into its chest as she threw her arms out to her sides as the fire that was beginning to catch on the rakghoul's skin erupted by way of pyrokinesis. He particular weapon and ability choice had granted her the name the dancing inferno.
The shrieks and cries echoed as the chakrams were violently ripped from the sides, the fire extinguished as they came to her hand. Slowly, she began to walk towards the remaining rakghoul, its fear now used to fuel her as she became the hunter that played with his food.
With quick steps did Lassix move into the sewers. Before long, she heard the echoes of blaster bolts and eventually the horrific scream. It caused her to smirk as she imagined what just happened. With each step did the sensation grow. The glow of her saber offered her only a small bit of light, but what light did exist caught the glint of the spears moving. Reaching out both hands, she came sliding to a stop, her balance staying true as she gripped both vermin with the Force and slammed them into each other before tossing them into the water.
Moving up to the tunnel entrance, she was certain that whatever was pulling them in was at the end. However, before she went, she gave a grunt of annoyance at the shrieking vermin that had been tossed in. Despite the knock to the head, they were still conscious as they fought to get out of the water. She needed to allow herself a quick moment to vent at the disgusting realm she had to enter for Duvrax so she turned around and with her free hand, unleashed Force Lightning into the water, electrifying them. It was all she could do not to laugh at her amusement as the screams grew louder for a moment, then died and the bodies floated lifeless there.
With that bit of therapy out of her system she pressed further into the tunnel, eager to see what awaited her.

Though a rakghoul was hardly what one might describe as sentient, the creatures did possess a primitive intelligence to a mild degree, if you could call it that.
The remaining mutant exuded fear into the fey as it slowly backed away from Lyne, aware now that its quarry was a predator as well, one perhaps more elevated on the food chain than it had initially assumed. One clawed foot after another stepped back as its body began to quiver in instinct inspired dread, talons trembling with every diseased breath. Behind the rakghoul the shadows moved as something came from further down the tunnel, so quick as to be nearly imperceptible. A metallic 'shink' was elicited as iron scraped on stone and the rakghoul let out a breathless gasp as its stomach exploded outwards in a virulent spray of tainted blood. There protruding from its shredded belly was a serrated blade of corroded metal connected to a serpentine length of glossy black scale, dripping wet with the creatures blood that ran over the oily sheen of its poison coated surface. Over the mutant's shoulder a snout appeared, sniffing the air with two nostril slits that exhaled little purple wisps. The snout twisted upwards at the corners into a smirk before splitting apart to reveal a wide set of jaws filled with a forest of curved yellow incisors that glistened with steaming salivation. Two bloody orbs that smouldered in their sockets like burning coals bored into the creature with malefic intent.
"Apologiez, poppet." Rasped a reptilian voice from out of the saurian's open maw, addressing the mutant. "You ssseem to have ssstumbled upon my tail blade. Terribly sssorry for that. Let'z sssee if we can't get you loossse, hmmm?"
With a shudder the rakghoul rose off the ground and drifted over the putrid depths of running waste water, suspended by an overlong muscular serpent like tail connected to the shadowy figure behind it. With a wet tear of meat, the tail blade ripped free of the creature's guts and unceremoniously deposited its cooling corpse into the pestilent stew, dragging with it a portion of the rakghoul's intestines. As the tail slithered back towards the glossy scaled figure, those gooey lengths spun around the newcomer's talon tipped toes and caused it to stumble, tripping to the ground as it became entangled in the fleshly rope of mutant digestive track. "Bullockz!" Hissed the red eyed saurian, his appearance becoming more pronounced as he rolled beneath the stabbing beams of light from a manhole cover overhead. Revealed was a barabel of black scale, clad in a brown rishii feather robe soiled by sewer grime that rattled as glassware concealed beneath its folds clattered on the walkway lining the tunnel. Entangled in intestines and curled on his back on the ground, the barabel finally noticed Lyne standing there, chakrams in hand. The ensnared saurian squinted two scaly lids to get a better look at her, seeing only an orange blur as he viewed the world in infrared. But his sensitive snout told him everything he needed to know, even over the odorous stench of the aqueduct.
"Ello there." Hissed Dragus, his forked tongue misting the air with crimson flecks as he spoke with his lizards lisp. "What manner of sssewer dweller are ye? Hmmm? You don't sssmell like the otherz, and certainly not enough whiskerz to be one of the vermin-kin."

A small smirk came across Lyne's face as she saw the rakghoul begin retreating in fear. However, the movement of shadows didn't go unnoticed, prompting the woman to stop, assuming another creature was going to use the rakghoul as distraction to get to her. In the instant she noticed the shadows and came to a halt, the rakghoul became impaled upon the blade. Immediately, her left foot slipped behind her as she began to bounce slightly on her toes, the chakrams held loosely at her sides ready to unleash an attack if need be.
Before long, a face began to appear behind the rakghoul. First came the hissing words to the creature almost as if this new being didn't even notice her. A few moments went by before the rakghoul was thrown into the water and the creature's attention turned to her. Each step defined more of his features and she began to figure the manner of being it was. She hadn't crossed any before, but had heard of the Barabel.
Taking a breath, her grip became a bit firmer upon her weapons, easing her fighting stance slightly as it seemed for a moment, words would be currency of the moment, something she wasn't against. It was possible this being had some of the answers she sought.
"I am no creature of the sewers, of that I can assure you. My name is Lyne. And who might you be wandering these putrid rivers?"
It wasn't long before Jonas landed the ship outside the town of Nime. There had been nothing of concern in the skies, allowing for a swift return. His departure was quick as he progressed into the city, seeking out the first available manhole he could. Once in the sewers, he followed the presence of Lyne, ready to join up with his comrades and aid them in whatever dangers awaited them.

"Putrid?" Hissed the drake ponderously, raising a scaled brow as he still fought with the gooey length of digestive track he had become entangled in. Dragging his claws across the encircling organ, he sliced his way free using curved finger talons that were as sharp as razor blades. On all fours he crawled over to the waters edge and dipped a claw in, scooping up a palmful of raw sewage that he brought before his snout. His nostril slits flared as he inhaled the heady aroma and his forked tongue emerged from between rows of yellow incisors and dipped into the filth. As it retracted back into his salivating maw, the barabel smacked his lips and nodded his head. "Tiz a bit pungent perhapz, but a fine vintage compared to other sewerz I have traversssed."Turning his claw over, his let the sludge pour back into the flowing mire and rose up on his back legs as he straightened himself, running his claws over his robe of rishii feathers as though that was all that was required to clean himself off. It was not. Clearing his throat with a wet gurgling cough, he crossed one claw over his chest and took a bow before Lyne. "Allow me to introduce myssself." He then snapped straight back and raised his arms up high, holding out the hem of his feathery robe like the wings of a bird. A loose collection of glass globes containing luminous green alchemical concoctions hung from the inner lining, rattling as they dangled in the sewer breeze."Behold." Rasped the reprehensible reptilian. "You ssstand in the presssence of Draguz the Magnificent, Sssith extraordinaire and massster of the alchemical artz." He lowered his claws. "I'm sssure you've heard of me. I'm quite famouz."Well, that might have been true once upon a time; however, in the last decade since the public dissolvement of the Order of the Eye, the former Famine Lord of previous galactic notoriety had somewhat faded into obscurity. These days he was little more than a tale parents used to caution their offspring before bed. Joining the Sith Eternal cult hadn't done much to improve the situation as the organization still remained hidden in the shadows, for now at least. As his long tail swept the ground behind him, he brought a claw under his snout and stroked his chin with a talon."Sssay, Msss. Lyne, you haven't ssseen any vermin folk ssscurrying about, have ye? Greasssy furred, wire thin tailz, perhapz answerz to the name Squeakerz? One of the little scampz ran off with a heirloom of mine. A gold talisssman shaped into an eye with a fire jewel ssset az the iriz. Radiatez dessspair into the fey, causez nightmarez, makez sssmall thingz grow very large. It belonged to my brother, you sssee, and I'd sssorely like it back."It was very likely the object he was talking about was the source of Nime's current woes. The 'Eye of Innon'Ruuk', a dark device created through sorcerous means, stolen by the thieving rat-kin of Clan Gypsypaw that made their warrens beneath the port city.

Lyne gazed upon the Barabel with a sickening look, hidden by her own will and the darkness of the sewers as he moved to the water slurped up a bit. Taking a bit of a deep breath when he turned his claw over and stepped away from the water, she closed her eyes and forced the thoughts away. It was best she moved on from the idea less whatever remained in her stomach added to the disgusting area in which she stood.
Gathering herself, she focused in on his words as he introduced himself. His name wasn't one she knew of, but it was the mention of being Sith that caught her attention. Was this what Duvrax felt? This being? Perhaps a gathering of Sith hidden upon the world? It was much to early to tell, but things were starting to fall into place ever so slowly.
But for a moment, she pushed passed her questions when he brought up on of his own. She could only guess he meant the ranat that had crossed their path on the surface. There was no guarantee, but she guessed it was worth mentioning, especially if being a bit helpful could better pave the way for better answers.
"A vermin folk, you say? I can't say for certain if it's the same creature you seek or if it had the item you desire, but such a creature did pass in front of me and my comrade on the surface. A rather large rat, much of your descriptions matching, aside from the name to which we did not know. Unfortunately, he descended into the sewers some time before we did." She then took a breath. "I must apologize, though. Your name is not one that is known to me for as famous as you are. Perhaps you could enlighten me further?"
It wasn't too much longer before the rushed sound of heavy footsteps could be heard. Lyne could already sense the the presence of Jonas and her eyes shifted to behind Dragus to watch for his coming. From the darkness, a sound echoed and new light appeared in the form of an orange blade before the man appeared, coming to a stop a few feet behind the reptilian, his stance ready to fight. His stance quickly dropped, however, as he watched Lyne raise her hand and lower it again, a sign telling him to stand down. It was confident, one who suspect she wasn't in any danger currently. And it was best not to provoke a beast into a fight if it could be helped. His saber falling to his side, the blade vanished as he awaited further instructions.

She wasn't familiar with his name? Oh, how the mighty had fallen. Though obviously such news was a dagger to his heart, a deep wound to his pride and ever so delicate ego, it wasn't for himself that he felt despair. Oh no, never for himself. He was far too magnanimous a gentlesith for that. No, who he truly felt sorry for were the ewoks. Without his fame to drum up support, certainly the donations to Draggy's Ewok Fund will have fallen to a mere trickle. If not He, who then would the galaxy turn to as the foremost Ewok conservationist? Hmmm? Cindel Towani? Get real, she's only five.Hearing footsteps on stone, the black scaled barabel turned his snout and peered with one blood red eye over his feather clad shoulder at Jonas, who deactivated his...lightsaber? Oh, very interesting. These were no common adventurers he had stumbled upon. His overlong muscular tail lifted off the grimy floor and swished through the air, almost waving at the man with the corroded iron spike, simultaneously loosening some of the remaining scraps of rakghoul gore caught in its serrated grooves."More company, wonderful." He hissed, exhaling a steaming breath over his shoulder before returning his attention Lyne, doing his best to smile but looking all the more hungry for it. Drool oozed over his lips, running down his chin to soil the front of his robe as he brought his claws together. "Sssurely you've heard of Famine, the Feassster of Worldz? He-Who-Hungerz? The Great Devourer?" The Hungering One scratched his scaly chin with a claw, flaking away scales as he did so. "No? Well, I sssuppose I have fallen on hard timez in recent yearz. But I am hardly az dessstitute az the ssstate of my attire may sssuggest. I have a benefactor, a being of incredible power who iz versssed in all manner of sorcerouz ability. We call them the Sssupreme One, or Sssupremo for short." No one called him/her that other then Dragus."It iz He/She that rulez Roon in truth, not the Imperial facade you may have noticed upon making landfall. Tiz part of the reassson I get around usssing thessse sewerz. You sssee I am a member of the Sssupreme One'z High Council, a group of ssseven Sssith that oversssee the organization we call the Sssith Eternal. I can hardly walk the streetz of Nime without getting ssswarmed with adoring fanz and sycophantz. The paparazzi are alwayz taking unflattering photoz when I leassst expect it. Unfortunately you can only flay the flesh from their bonez ssso many timez before the otherz ssstop taking picturez of you entirely."It was at this point that an idea struck his brilliant but easily distracted mind. These two appeared well armed, not to mention smelled strongly of the fey's touch. Perhaps a bargain could be struck. His scaled brow narrowed as he focused intently on Lyne, the rancid stench of his breath a match even for the sour sewer funk."Mayhapz I could introduce you? But only if you help me get my amulet back. It can not remain with the rat-kin and it soundz az though you may have encountered the pilfering pawed moussse that took it. If nothing elssse, I would be indebted to you. Hmmm?"

Though she had Jonas stand down, her eyes shifted to Dragus, concerned his sudden appearance, blade lit, would incite a confrontation. She could only hope, but her weapons and her mind was at the ready to respond should conflict ensue. Yet, no such action came. The Barabel acknowledged her companion with a wave of his tale before responding further, turning his attention to her.
In the end, she couldn't help but feel surprised. She barely had to ask and the answer she hoped to obtain her being dropped into her lap. The Imperial rule was a show for the greater galaxy and the Sith resided her quietly in the shadows ruled by this singular being. Even more was that this creature before us sat on the council of seven members. So next to this Supreme One, none held a higher authority than him and six others. It was then he presented a proposal, one she saw no reason not to accept. If anything, having Dragus indebted to them should things go wrong would be helpful. Still, she would play to his better side so that the best outcome could play out.
"I must say, to have gained and be known by so many titles, it is an impressive feat. And the way you speak certain expresses ones that have been earned and not self proclaimed as some other Sith with resounding egos. Tis a heavy shame that you name is not one known to me. I, myself, resided with the Sith for a time and cannot recall your name by either spoken word or text. Tales to be spoken of, one's I would be most eager to hear of in time, if you so wish. As for a meeting with your Supreme One, we would be most honored. My...master," It was in that moment she wondered what Duvrax should have been called. Master? Boss? Comrade? She wasn't truly sure but decided to just role with master for now. They were given titles, so to speak, by him but chose to retain that information for now. "felt a calling of the darkness and was led here. We split up in search for the source, and I dare say the Sith that reside here, if not the Supreme One themselves, are what calls to him. We have one other comrade down here in the sewers that has run on ahead. We will gladly aid you in your search and perhaps we will meet with her as well. I believe this meeting will prove beneficial for all parties."

"Sssplendid." Hissed the saurian in delight, the corners of his lips spreading to freakish dimensions as he smiled sinisterly. "I could sssmell you were a sharp one. We had bessst proceed with hassste then, for if your comrade haz reached the burrowz of the vermin folk, they may be in more danger than they realize."A single ranat was hardly a threat, but down in the subterranean depths where they made their lair, their numbers were great. They were a fast breeding race, ravenous in appetite, primitive in nature yet possessing some feral cunning despite this. It was for these reasons the dark apothecary of the Sith Eternal regularly made use of their services. However, the greed of Clan Gipsypaw may very well be their downfall. Taking a precious heirloom from the Great Devourer was not likely something he would easily forgive."We may require sssome...reinforcementz. Siss, siss, siss." Chuckled the barabel in his serpentine manner. Reaching into his feathery robe, the despicable draconian retrieved an object from one of his many pockets. When his claw reappeared, he held in his scaly palm a ruby red flute fashioned from meltmassif. The drake brought the musical device to his snout and pressed his lips to its surface, then blew a rancid breath into one of its holes, eliciting a terrible series of notes as his finger talons danced across its stem.♪♫♪ ♪♫♪ ♪♪ ♪♫♪ ♪♫♪ ♪♪ ♫♪♫ ♪♪ ♪ Famine's flute was no mere musical instrument. Crafted with dark intent, the meltmassif it was comprised of served as a transmitter of his wicked mind control abilities, allowing him to extend his oppressive will and infect the minds of those unfortunate enough to hear its awful tune. Those with a Force sensitivity had a natural immunity of sorts, as did those of sharp mind. But for the dim witted, or in this case creatures lacking a true form of sentience, their wills were like a warm stick of blue butter in his claws. Easily malleable and offering little resistance.Dragus' terrible hungering aura seemed to expand, stretching to all corners of the sewer as his sinister melody echoed throughout the aqueducts. They came in droves, by the hundreds even, pouring out of drainage pipes and swimming up the foul stew as a black tide of greasy fur and beady eyes. I speak not of the child sized ranats, but of genuine plump bodied sewer rats, vermin of the most basic variety. Drawn by the drake's devious tune, these rodents scampered forth like a furry carpet of pestilence, scurrying between Lyne, Jonas, and Dragus' feet as they headed in the direction Lassix had taken. The warrens of Clan Gipsypaw were a near endless maze of claw hewed tunnels, each littered with numerous chambers full of squeaking ranats. Some of these dens held fat bodied ranat broodmares, each of their six breasts fixed with the hungry snouts of a mewling hairless pups. Others were full of hordes of glittering treasures, pilfered by the clan ranats who held a special love for shiny objects. Then there were those chambers thick with industry, as tinker rats scoured spear tips of rust and sharpened jagged stone knifes on screeching grindstones. Occasionally packs of ranats would come scampering down these tunnels, heading off in every and any direction as the activity in these under-burrows went on ceaselessly. At the center of this hive was a massive chamber from which the darkness that afflicted Nime radiated. It was from here that monstrous shrieks of unnaturally amplified rat-speech rumbled, reaching all corners of the warrens. Even the clan rats trembled as they heard these terrible sounds, piddling and defecating with unhygienic abandon. The bones of Nime's lost children littered the tunnel floors, cracking and snapping underfoot as ranats scurried about their business. They were of course a favourite delicacy of the Clan, whose diets were known to be indiscriminate. Here in the dark, meat was never left to fester long, be it rotten or fresh. Everything was consumed.

So far, all was going well. All that was left was fulfilling this particular mission alongside Dragus and they would be a step closer to finding out what exactly was going on upon this world once they met this Supreme Ruler.
Still, she wondered just how much danger Lassix was in if what the Barabel said was true. She was quite the warrior, vicious and unrelenting as she was graceful and agile. However, it wasn't something she would leave to chance. They had all learned to be prepared for anything that may come their way and to be capable of facing it alone. Yet she wasn't alone and with all squared away here, it was time to ensure her friend had some coverage.
Her gaze then shifted to the flute Dragus pulled out, her ears soon filling the terrible ensemble of chosen notes. She could feel the intent within, though could not determine its purpose at that moment, only glad that she seemed unaffected. Its purpose, however, was soon revealed as the army of creatures that called the sewer homed answered its call. Rats by the hundreds, a number that would seem impossible passed by them and progressed further into the tunnel. Turning that direction, she progressed forward, allowing the Sith to take the lead, Her Jonas falling just behind.
The further she went, the more the rancid smell of decay filled her nostrils. Her despised being here so much. Duvrax would certainly have to pay for this later. For now, she used her desire to find what he sought as motivation to move forward and fortification to her stomach so not to gag. Her grip tightened upon her saber as she moved further into the lair, her eyes catching the chambers and what laid within. Disgusting creatures that she wished so dearly to bring to death's door for merely existing. While she didn't truly hide herself as she progressed, neither did she blatantly walk in the open where all could see. She wanted to get to the center of it all before the fun began. A point whether she could see all points of entry and could better cover herself, as strange as it was.
It wasn't too long before she reached the center of the hive where the darkness was strongest. It was here that she was being called and it was here that her questions would find answers. She saw the rats that seemed to cower at the echoing sounds, suggesting the one that led them was before her. Letting herself step into view, she simply swung her saber around, it whooshing and light drawing in all attention.
"I hope I'm not interrupting, but this disgusting whole has me in the mood for slaughter and chaos. Care to indulge me?"
With a smirk, she stepped forward and brought the blade down in front of her with a sharp motion, ready for a fight.

As Lassix's brilliant lightsaber blade illuminated the darkened burrow, the creature at the center of it all emerged from the shadows to reveal the full extent of the horrid corruption that had taken hold of its former ranat figure. Hunched over the carcass of a its latest meal, a massive muscular form rose on two tree trunk thick legs of scarred flesh that seemed stretched over tight cords of muscle, extending into two wide feet with toes that ended in curved nails that could have been used as butchers hooks. A more narrow waist shot widely to the sides as its body stretched further upwards, nearly ten feet tall in all, broad of shoulder as a mandallian giant on steroids. Hugely muscular arms hung down at its sides, each finger of its giant fists ending in a sword like talon that glinted as the razor honed edge refracted the light projected by Lassix's energy blade. Its head was large, though ill proportioned, with the lower jaw of its snout protruding forwards as two gore stained tusks speared up through the roof of its mouth. Beady red eyes sat in sunken sockets, glaring at the darksider in its midst with feral cunning and cruelty written upon its expression. There hanging from its neck was the source of the disturbance, a resplendent golden talisman that was set with a flame jewel in the center, radiating an aura of pure malice and misery. The 'Eye of Innon'Ruuk' seemed to glow with an internal fire as it channeled the life energy of the citizens in the city above and directed those malefic currents into the creature whom Dragus had referred to as the ranat Squeakers. The amulets power had transformed the simple sentient vermin into something bestial, a hulking giant that would have even given the amulet's original owner pause. A deep growl rumbled in its chest and the monstrous amalgamation of rat flesh and sorcery let out a terrible roar.RRRRRRRRWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loud and horrible, the floor trembled underfoot as the walls shook and threatened to buckle, as loose earth overhead rained down into the room and pitted the ground with tripping clods of rock and dirt. Fissures split the ground around it, kicking up clouds of scalding steam that temporarily obscured its monstrous figure, until it took a step forwards, planting a large foot on the other side of a rent in the floor. Its curling toes carved furrows, raking with every step. The near constant chittering of the rest of the burrow seemed to quiet as beady eyes watched from every tunnel mouth leading into the room, fear tempered by a curious need to watch what happened next. Then it charged, snout streaming a foul foam from its slathering yellow jaws as the hulking brute ran at Lassix like a Reek in an antiques shop, threatening to trample her underfoot as it moved forwards unperturbed by the deadly blade she wielded in hand. Sewer rats swarmed into the entrance of the burrow, egged on by the twisted tune elicited from the black scaled barabel's flute, pouring into the warrens of Clan Gypsypaw as a pestilent tide of greasy fur and parasite infested rodent bodies. Ranats shrieked as their unevolved kin overwhelmed and covered them completely, dropping their writhing verminous bodies to the filthy floor where they were stripped down to the bone by the near endless horde. Dragus danced as he played, leaping from side to side, his tail blade swiping left and right in reckless rhythm as he occasionally looked back towards Jonas and Lyne, offering them a playful wink from one blood red eye. It was not all easy going, at least not when the shock of their appearance had worn off and the burrows defenders rallied to face them. War squeaks sounded from numerous bisecting tunnels as rusty spear wielding ranats emerged from the dark recesses of their home and charged towards the trio of woman, lizard, and man.As the floor shook from Squeaker's roar, even as far away as they were, it caused the saurian Sith to lower the flute from his snout as his scaled lids narrowed and focused on the crumbling ceiling overhead. The ranats might tunnel quickly, but their engineering skills left much to be desired. A shrieking squeak drew his attention as a jagged knife wielding ranat lunged at him, getting close enough that he got a full whiff of its foetid breath. Dragus cackled maniacally as the mighty mouse's stone tipped blade snapped as it struck his armour hard scaly hide, before he swiped his right claw across the rodent's exposed belly and shredded its stomach with his own sharpened talons, tearing it open. Guts and stomach juices sluiced out of the wide ripped wound, spilling onto the devilish draconian's feet."We're clossse." He hissed, lips spread wide to reveal a hungry grin. "I can sssmell them."

As the creature that stood at the center of the darkness emerged, Lassix held back another urge to vomit. So nauseating an appearance. But it didn't take much to understand the truth of this creature. One could suggest an experiment gone wrong, which in most cases could be true. Yet, the necklace that hung from it was enough of a tale in and of itself to give sight to reality. It was what became of beings unable to grasp and control the power of the darkness, becoming a mindless vessel to its power, a twisted thrall driven by the worst of emotions and intentions that resided within the Force. Even powerful Sith were not free from the corruption, though rarely was such a transformation seen from them. Perhaps it would be wise to try and cut the amulet free and see what happened afterward. He'd become frenzied for sure, but would he weaken or would his power remain unchanged? Time would tell soon enough.
As it roared, the Pantoran made no movement away from her stance, showing she had no intention of backing down and, in fact, carried no fear of what stood before her. It wasn't until he charged, that her legs bent slightly, preparing to make a move. More a primal beast than anything, yet she her training with Duvrax, his peers, and his master had taught her a fundamental truth: never underestimate your opponent, no matter what. His claws and size were enough to warrant caution, but she wouldn't doubt a level of intellect that would render strategies useless. Still, waiting until the right moment before he reached her, she leapt into the air with a flip, going straight for the amulet, her blade seeking to meet the point between his shoulder blades and move up to the base of his skull.
As the entered the burrows, Lyne had once again removed her chakrams and Jonas had his lightsaber and a blaster pistol. They would be ready for what came. At first, though, it seemed to be a ravenous onslaught of the vermin Dragus summon, bringing their evolved kin to their knees. But it wasn't long before the defense came. Jonas was already using the blaster to take advantage of what range he had before switching to his lightsaber, making easy work of the vile creatures. Lyne's weapons once again became alit with fire as they flew from her person, the weapons slashing through multiple ranats and setting them ablaze. But that wasn't all, as they flew, Jonas looked to the weapons for a moment, blaster hand outstretched as he focused on the Force and the environment, stirring up the wind around the inferno chakrams, further increasing the spin as well as forming into mini tornados that now surged with fire. Whatever creature that was foolish enough to brave the storm of fire would be torn apart and burn without mercy. They had to learn to fight alone, for one never knew when it was be only them. But their training was required them to fight as a team, including how to amplify and support one another's abilities. Was but a small showing of their training.
The pair then looked to Dragus with a nod as he mentioned how close they were. Soon, they would rejoin their comrade and bring this darkness to an end.

Talons soaked in foul effluence as he eviscerated ranats with his bare claws, a look of awed bewilderment crossed the perpetually hungry features of the deranged draconian as he watched the combination of Lyne and Jonas' Force abilities spawn a flaming wind funnel in the subterranean burrow they found themselves in. The heat of the blaze seeped into his scales, warming the saurian's cold blood and increasing the pace at which he moved, as he quickly became a blur of motion. Bestial strength and primal instincts written into his very DNA allowed the black scaled barabel to become a force of nature without even drawing on the currents of the darkside. He relished as his claws tore through rat flesh and his teeth crunched through their nimble bones. Such was the feral yearning for violence and domination that he didn't even feel the scrape of rusted blades against his scales or the stabbing bite of jagged stone shivs as they occasionally sank deep enough to draw a bead of the mad drake's blood. Savagery and pyromancy carried their push into the warrens of Clan Gypsypaw all the way to the central burrow. A ruinous tide of greasy fur, filthy bits of shredded tissue, followed by flame and black smoke erupted from one tunnel leading into the chamber. Coughing embers and flecks of verminous blood, Dragus appeared at the far end of the room with Lyne and Jonas at his side.
They had made it at just the last moment, as the blue skinned pantoran leapt up into the air and flipped over the giant mutated ranat formerly known as Squeakers. As her blade swept through the air and struck, a blinding flash of light flared into existence, expanding from the point of contact to consume the chamber they were in before continuing out into the tunnels beyond as a vision spotting white brilliance. Even Dragus whose vision was in the infrared spectrum, was forced to avert his bloody eyes, burying his snout beneath the hood of his dark robe and shutting his scaled lids tightly so as to prevent being blinded. As quickly as the flash appeared, so too did it vanish into the tunnels beyond. Slowly, the saurian Sith opened his eyes and narrowed his brow, focusing two slit irises on Squeakers and Lassix. As they came into focus, he could see a smoking black line of scorched tissue running up from the giant ranat's back between the shoulder blades all the way up to top of its neck. The flesh around the wound was raw and blistered by the intense heat of the lightsaber blade that had struck it, but it did not appear as if the blow had sank deep. One other point of interest was that the golden chain around the creature's neck was no longer present.
There on the cracked floor of the chamber was the amulet, molten red where the tips of its chain were hewn by Lassix's blade, now leaving two split ends smoking in the dirt. The fire gem at the center of artifact continued to project an eerie orange luminescence, like the baleful eye of a hateful spirit. It would be clear to all with a Force sensitivity that the object was still performing its malign purpose, feeding on the collective life force of Nime like a hungry hutt at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Though unlike before, that power was no longer being channeled into Squeakers, who stood dumbfounded as his primitive mind tried to make sense of what had just occurred. For his part, the mutated ranat appeared unchanged by the loss of the amulet. Whatever warping effect it had on his previously small scampering form had left a permanent mark. Its massive left paw went up to its head and rubbed the back of its neck, tracing the still smoking line of singed flesh and fur, finally feeling the searing sting from the shallow wound. It grit its fangs furiously, then reacted in a flash of savage motion as the creature spun around and attempted to swat at Lassix with a wide reaching back handed sweep of its muscular right arm.

No sooner than their inferno wreaked its havoc did the pair watch as Dragus suddenly showed new life in his being, his movements increasing alongside other attributes. It allowed them all to more easily carve their bloody path of carnage into the central chamber to where they saw Lassix making her leap, swiping at the creatures back. What followed was something unexpected. For such a dark artifact, blinding flash of light was not the result that one would assume to follow. The pair closed their eyes and a few moments later opened them to see the massive creature of the ground and Lassix laying there but a few feet behind him. Lyne was ready to run to her side, but instead braced herself as Squeakers began to move once more.
Her attack was swift and truth as it meet the top layers of fur and flesh, though it was the slight snag of chair and the blinding flash of light that spoke true of her contact. Unaware of such a reaction, her sight was blinded and her senses shifted as instinct took over. It caused her to spin just a bit farther, tilt a bit much, causing her to find no purchase in her landing, sending her straight to the ground hard. Though not enough to cause real damage, it was more than enough to disorient her and cause her body to ache. It was but a few moments more after the light faded that she began to stir, the groans more than apparent to her discomfort.
She, however, had no time to get her bearings for shortly after she shook her head to refocus her mind and sight, she heard the creature move. She looked up and scrambled to her feet as Squeakers rushed her, his hand coming around to make its swipe. Once again, her body fell to instinct, choosing the only course it felt it had time for. Bringing her saber up, she brought it over as if blocking an attack from another blade, beam of light perpendicular from the ground. His hand made contact and by luck of the force, he had back-handed her rather than slash at her for they might have been able to curl and breach her skin. But the force of the swing was enough to send her flying hard to the end of chamber and into the wall. Pain surged through her body and breath left her lungs rapidly. So much her mind didn't know in that moment. Were her bones broken? Was she dead? How long before she could move and get back in the fight? And, mostly importantly, was she able to severe his hand with her blade or did the power he obtain make him immune such a cut, leaving but another burn mark? Whatever the answers, her vision was black, her breath, short, and body in pain. She was down for the time being.

From where the trio of Lyne, Jonas, and Dragus had entered the central chamber, all they could do was watch helplessly as Lassix was battered across the room by a backhanded blow from the monstrous mutant ranat. At the moment before contact her lightsaber appeared to have struck the flesh of the brute's wrist, but as with before, there was only a line of scorched tissue to show for it. Burnt raw, the verminous freak's skin already appeared to be knitting itself together, a seemingly impossible feat.
The barabel's bloody orbs glanced over at Lassix's crumpled form on the ground next to the far wall. She appeared to be out of commission, which left just the three of them. Scowling, he turned his snout to the side and regarded Jonas and Lyne.
"It'z hide iz too thick for energy bladez." He hissed the obvious. "We'll need to work together to bring it down. I may be able to sssiphon sssome of itz ssstrength, but it will but up to the two of you to land a lethal blow."
Already the mammoth mouse was turning in there direction, swinging its massive torso around before fixing its beady gaze on the three of them. Squeakers let out a bestial cry so loud the burrow shook and clumps of dirt rained down from above. Then, placing one large clawed foot-paw forwards, it tensed its immense muscular form and lunged in their direction. The knuckles of its gundark-like arms dragged across the ground as it charged, sword like claws slicing furrows through the earth. Fueled as it was by rage and pain, the monstrosity became a runaway repulsor train hurtling in their direction.
Keeping to his word, saurian Sith lowered his stance as he sank on his haunches and steadied his body. Taking in a deep breath of pungent air through his nostril slips, he began to conjure up feelings of hatred and self-loathing, using those dark emotions to strengthen his connection to the Force as he drew on the currents of the darkside to empower him. The temperature in the subterranean chamber seemed to drop, frost riming the ground near his foot claws as the Blood Wyrm's hungering aura leached the very warmth from the air. He extended both his claws in the direction of the rampaging rat monster, reaching towards its hurtling form and focusing his will to draw some of its stolen power away. To one without the Force, it wouldn't have looked like the Hungering One was doing much of anything, but those with a deep connection to the Force might be able to perceive the transfer of power, as Dragus was literally suckling away at Squeakers' pilfered store of life energy. His bloody eyes seemed to smoulder in their sockets, while shadows encircled his serptine form like coiling rings of black smoke.
While it certainly didn't stop, Squeakers' appeared to slow just a little, his limbs growing somewhat sluggish in the last few seconds as it bared down on the group.

The pair watched as their comrade was knocked to the far end of the room and remained motionless. While their first instinct was to run to her side, to call out to her, they had been trained well enough to not allow their instincts to influence actions at every encounter. Instinct would always be at its strongest, however, in that split moment where the mind couldn't process and the body would follow the best course of survival, which had led Lassix to her outcome. While out, they didn't doubt she would be fine, if only for a few broken bones at most. Now was not the time to focus on her, but the creature before them.
As it turned to them, the two took a stance, ready for what Squeakers intended to do next when Dragus spoke. If he could weaken it enough to bring it down, they could handle the rest. The moment the Sith began his work, the duo stepped before him, Lyne just a touch ahead of Jonas. The massive Ranat was already beginning its charge, so there wasn't a moment to waste in catching its attention and working to bring it down. After all, they didn't know how long it would take Dragus to do his work.
As it grew closer, they say it begin to slow and become more sluggish. Now was the time to strike. Lyne dashed forward, the Force building up in her left hand as she threw one of her chakrams at the creatures chest, the strength in which it was sent flying increased to try and pierce the flesh. She then leaped into the air, far enough to keep out of reach as she passed over the top of him. Whether or not it was enough to get his attention didn't matter. At the moment the weapon made contact, Jonas took hold of a single leg and pulled. The goal was to drop it to a knee, not so much lay it flat. In order to act their plan of attack, one clear the pair had worked out many times in the past, they had to hit from both sides.
The moment Lyne faced the ranat again, he other chakram flew true, impacting it in the back. Now a bladed weapon found a home on each side of its being, ready to meet in the middle and if anatomy proved accurate, its heart would be the meeting point. But the flesh was tough, as Dragus said. They would need more effort to push in harder. It was why they split, the use the Force to further the pressure. Gathering up their strength, both released a Force Push at the ranat, seeking to crush him between the wall of their making. They pushed harder and harder, seeking to not only halt the creature, but to give the chakrams the extra push needed to go through.

When the first chakram struck the beast's chest, it sank deep from the combined force of the throw and the ranat monsters own forwards charge. Due to the transformation of its flesh, however, most of its interior organs were buried deep beneath a cage of bone and thickly corded muscle. Even so, the razor edge of the circular throwing blade had come close to its large pulsating tumor covered heart. The impact staggered the creature, whilst Lyne's flip over its shoulder distracted it at just the right moment. Squeakers beady eyes were following the flipping Force user instead of focused on Jonas, who managed to get a hold of one leg and pull. Squeakers squeaked in furious protest, more of a roar really but still spoken in indecipherable rat-speech, as he came crashing down on one knee, scraping the cap raw as the joint struck the broken ground. To add insult to injury, Lyne's second chakram then impacted his back, sinking nearly as deep as the first blade had but from the opposite side of his torso. The pain only served to enrage the mutant monster further, who slammed his boney knuckles on the ground hard enough to send spiraling cracks out in every direction. Its breath came in ragged exhalations that sent rivulets of pain extending out from its punctured back and chest, but still it struggled to its feet, rising to charge anew.
Unfortunately for Squeakers an opportunity for retribution never presented itself. As it began to rise, it was hit on either side by the telekinetic force of Lyne and Jonas'Force Push. It was just enough of an exertion to sink the chakrams that much deeper, finally penetrating its corrupt black heart as a death rattle shook its chest and the light went out of its eyes. When the pressure of the Force Push subsided, the ranat monster fell to its knees and toppled to the ground with an earth shaking crash, dark blood pooling beneath it from where the blades had rent its flesh.
Greedily Dragus maintained his Force Drain until the last embers of life had fled from Squeakers' cooling body and his wyrd had reached its end. He supped on the stolen life energy, smacking his lips before letting out a satisfied belch that exhaled a red mist and plume of carrion scented smoke, before snapping his powerful jaws shut. Ignoring the massive vermin corpse or even Lassix, who was still curled on the floor on the far side of the room, the black scaled barabel went directly for the amulet on the floor. Bending at the waist, he scooped the eye shaped piece of jewellery in one claw and held it in his scaly palm, fixing Squeakers' corpse with a look of utter disdain before hissing. "Thiz...iz mine." His family heirloom returned to him, the scowling saurian tucked the 'Eye of Innon'Ruuk' away in a pocket of his cloak before turning his attention to the others.
"Well done." He admitted, admiring the combined efforts of Lyne and Jonas. "How iz your companion?" He inquired, as their attention was now on their injured friend.
In the darkness of the numerous tunnel mouths leading to the central chamber they were in, beady eyes watched them from the shadows. Though the verminous under-dwellers still had the advantage of numbers, the death of their leader had bought the group a temporary reprieve from the rodent horde. None were too eager to try their luck against those strong enough to kill the monstrous vermin lord.

Their combined attack bore fruit as Squeakers eventually went down for the last time, the life that existed within him fading with not a single ember left to hope to stir anew. This brought a relief to the duo. Quickly, Lyne turned and made her way to Lassix as Jonas worked to remove the weapons from the creature. He would give the woman credit in that despite the situation with her friend, she would see a task finished and not waver in her worry.
Dropping to a knee, Lyne began to examine Lassix, wondering just what he situation was. As her hands moved across the Pantoran's body, feeling for broken bones, Lassix's hand came up and grabbed Lyne's.
"I'm fine. I don't need you worrying over me like some nurse maid." As she regained some aspect of focus and strength, she pushed herself to her feet with her friend's help. It had been instant and barely enough, but she had released a burst of energy just before impact. It saved her bones from breaking, but that was it. she was bruised and sore. If another fight broke out, she would still be an easy target. Despite the limp she fought to over come, she pushed back looking so weak as to keep up an intimidating appearance seeing that the other ranats were gathering in the tunnels. A smart foe would think twice about attacking those that had beat their leader, especially with such a difference between them. "I will be fine. But who are you?" She glanced over Dragus with a curious eye. She wasn't so foolish to think him an enemy, nor was she blind to the power he radiated. He wasn't to be trifled with, that much was clear. Still, she wasn't one to simply bow to another.

Black lips peeled and split, twisting upwards into a toothy grin that fully displayed the forest of incisors that filled his maw, drooling steaming ropes of salivation from jaws that dripped down the chin of his snout and soiled the front of his already filthy feathered robe. He examined Lassix from a friendly distance, his bloody orbs glancing her over, while his otherworldly senses probed in ways unseen.
"I have many namez." He hissed, before lowering his snout and crossing one claw across his chest while bending at the waist, performing a fleeting bow before straightening. He then offered a shrug of his shoulders and continued. "But you need only know one for now, I sssuppose. My name iz Draguz, and though you are not aware of it, you and your friendz have done me a ssservice in ssseeing the 'Eye of Innon'Ruuk' returned to me, az well az putting an end to my treacherouz former aide Squeakerz. I shall have to take measurez to ensssure greater loyalty from hiz replacement." There was never a guarantee. Ranats tended to be creatures of poor impulse control, though the proper application of fear could motivate their subservience. He'd be certain to set a good example for the next to bare the name Squeakers.
Casually he reached one claw into the folds of his robe, eliciting a rattling clink of glassware as he searched for one bottle amongst many. When his claw retracted he was holding in his scaled palm a translucent glass tincture bottle with a cork stopper. Contained within was a red liquid with a slight luminosity. Extended his claw towards Lassix, he offered the elixir to her.
"Drink thiz. It containz concentrated esssence of ewok, along with a few other additivez." He failed to mention the ryll spice, bacta, powdered murakami orchid, and micro-dosage of Pzobian mushrooms by name. "Bessst usssed for virility, it should aid with ressstoring your diminished vitality in the current absssence of a proper medial clinic."
Whether she took it or not, his overlong tail with the sinister serrated spike capping its end lashed the ground behind him in a dangerous sweep and crack. The noise and motion caused the beady eyes lingering at the tunnel thresholds into the chamber to briefly retreat, before returning moments later with double the number. Dragus scowled and thrummed the talons of his free hand on his thigh as he considered their current situation.
"We should not linger. Once clear of thessse warrenz we can ssspeak on the matter of recompenssse."

Lassix eyed the being before her as he spoke. Many names? Seemed to be a thing among Sith. Even Duvrax had names and titles. Would they mean anything to anyone outside of those who had walked with him and his comrades? Doubtful, just as these many names might have had no meaning to others. She, on the other hand, rather liked having but one name, one that served as a title. No questions, no misunderstandings when she came calling.
When he moved to speak of ensuring his next assistant was more loyal, she scoffed lightly.
"That would be wise, I think. Unless making such monstrosities is an actual habit." She couldn't help but be bothered and disgusted to think of such a creature being made willingly. Then again, Sith tended to craft such distorted abominations.
When presented with the elixir, she took it, but didn't drink. She didn't know what it truly was, but if she was to take it, she wished to be in a safer place should something go wrong. Typically she was reckless in her actions, but given her current state and surroundings, it was best to be cautious.
The trio then looked around as the numbers began to build. If they kept up, there was little doubt they'd finally find some courage to fight back. They nodded at Dragus's mention of leaving.
"Agreed. Our ship is just outside the town. I think it'll be the best option to ensure no unwanted surprises."
