*Telarial's head tilted to one side as she considered what Raine said. Raine could sense her feelings?*
"You can sense my feelings, huh? That either makes you force sensitive or super empathetic."
*She couldn't remember the details of their conversation at the spaceport concerning their force sensitivity. As for what was troubling her...should she confide in this young girl? After a moment of silent, internal debate, Telarial made her decision.*
"It's complicated. I just...feel like Faelan would be better off without me. I feel like all I do, is bring him trouble."

*Raine gave a mischievous grin when Telarial asked if she was force sensitive.* "I'm force sensitive, yes. Somewhat trained as well." *A frown appeared on her face when Telarial said that Faelan would be better off without her.* "No, he wouldn't. He excepts you, and calls you family. That's the kind of promise that he doesn't just throw away. He'll be worse off if you left. He's gone through all this trouble to keep you safe, it would crush him if you left. As for causing trouble...well...I live with him. I cause more than enough trouble to keep him busy, so adding a little more wouldn't hurt."

*Telarial's eyebrows shot up into her hairline in surprise.*
"You've been trained? I haven't. I can partially control it. Sometimes though, if my feelings get out of control, things sort of just...happen."
*She then looked down at her lap and began to fiddle with her blankets as she considered Raine's words.*
"I just...don't want to ever hurt him. I nearly did. Just by being unable to..."
*Her voice trailed off as she left the rest of her words unspoken. She felt like a failure. How could she consider herself to be a warrior if she couldn't even defend or protect herself from people like Montreal.*

*Raine paused for a moment before answering that question.* "I wasn't fully trained. Only some."
*She tilted her head some at Telarials next sentence. Protect was the word, Raine knew that. Even if Telarial didn't want to say it.* "Faelan is going to get hurt no matter what. He's been hurt before, and it will happen again someday. Hopefully not soon though. You can't always be there to protect everyone. I know, I lost a lot of friends on Nar Shaddaa. No matter how much I wanted them to be safe."

*Telarial nodded silently with a grim face.*
"I'm sorry about your friends. I guess my problem is...my inability to defend and protect myself from chakaars' like Montreal. It's my fault...my inability to protect myself when that Jedi tried to kidnap me years ago. My guardian Arkillian...died to save me...because I was incapable to do so myself. Faelan already told me it's not my fault. That doesn't change the fact that it still feels like it is."

At first the soft, low, indistinct sounds of the conversation between Telarial and Raine weave seamlessly into Faelan's dreams, providing a soundtrack for the amorphous whisps of memory interwoven with the often bizarre and indecipherable images his mind conjures to digest recent experiences and persistent hopes and fears; all fragile and soon forgotten in the transition from sleep to waking.
Stretching his arms overhead while stifling a yawn so he does not disturb Telarial and Raine, Faelan rises from the chair after offering both a smile, his relief that Telarial is awake and seems less distressed and anxious than she had before resting evident in his eyes if nowhere else in his customarily stoic expression. "I'm going to see if the cafeteria serves spiced caf, Faelan says when there is a brief break in the conversation between Telarial and Raine, and then goes on quickly so that it is clear that his interruption is intended to be brief, Would either of you like anything?"
After the girls have answered his question, Faelan heads from the room, rolling his neck from side to side to work the stiffness from it. Pausing once he is out of the room and in the hall, Faelan rubs his stubbled chin, cautioning himself against allowing his hopes for Telarial to make a full recovery get too high before it is clear how much she has remembered and the doctors have had an opportunity to assess her condition. Stopping at the nurses station to inform the charge nurse that Telarial has awakened, Faelan continues on to the cafeteria.

*Telarial watches Faelan leave, her internal emotions raging as she struggles to figure out the best way to confront Faelan regarding her current memory recovery. A nurse walks in and asks a few questions. They chart notes and send them directly to the doctor who then stops by the room to examine Telarial once more. He then orders her to consume a meal, chastising her for her refusal to eat the previous one and gives her the warning that she will not be cleared to leave the hospital until she has. Telarial watched the doctor leave with a passive, nearly stoic expression. The doctor in the meantime used his com-link to contact Faelan and gave him the good report.*

*Raine was familiar with what Telarial felt. Even still about getting parents.* "I'm sorry. I...still blame myself sometimes for what happened to my parents. That doesn't mean I can change anything. I just face it one day at a time. Faelan makes it easier. Like family, only I'm not related to him. By walking away, then you'd just make things harder in the end."
*Raine quickly turned her attention to Faelan when he got up. She hoped that he hadn't heard about her being forced sensitive. When he asked if they wanted anything, she shook her head no, she really wasn't hungry right now.*

Waiting in line to pay for his stimcaf, the cafeteria not providing caf of the spiced variety much to his disappointment, when the doctor contacts him to inform him of the results of Telarial's assessment, Faelan thanks him profusely before permitting himself to take a moment to let the unexpected - but much hoped for - news sink in, and to let the welcome sense of relief settle in so that he can regain his long-cultivated composure and self-possessed poise before returning to Telarial and Raine.
Remembering as he makes the return trip from the cafeteria that he and Raine had accompanied Telarial to the medcenter in an ambulance, Faelan contacts (after two failed attempts before apparently waking his younger brother from what sounded to be a very sound sleep) Lorcan to have him pick them up at the medcenter after retrieving the speeder that had been left in the city. Chuckling to himself after signing off, having heard the sleepy female voice in the background as Lorcan moaned about Faelan's habit of picking up troubled strays spilling over into his life and vowed to think of some adequate compensation for being disturbed from what had been the beginning of a most promising morning, Faelan stepped from the turbolift and continued on to Telarial's room.
Nodding his chin towards the breakfast tray that a nurse sets in front of Telarial, Faelan says in a stern tone made something less than stern by the relieved smile he cannot suppress, "Eat up ad'ika. You're forbidden from so much as thinking of getting out of bed until that tray is completely clean, so you'd best get started, and then turns to Raine and arches an eyebrow as he says, And don't think I haven't noted your lack of appetite either. If you don't want something from the cafeteria, I'll make you something when we get back home."

*Telarial attempted to smile at him but it didn't quite show. She glanced down at her tray, picked up a fork and stared down at it silently. She picked at her food and barely ate. Clearly Telarial was displaying signs of depression. After a moment she looked back at Faelan with a serious expression.*
"Faelan...why did you choose to adopt me? I've brought you nothing but trouble and pain. For that...I'm so sorry."

Faelan's initial reaction to Telarial's unexpected and, to him as he had not overheard the conversation between Raine and his daughter, out of the blue question is a comical combination of surprise, incredulity, and - as he is not accustomed to or comfortable with exploring his feelings or examining his thoughts too deeply on too regular a basis - panic. Stammering as he tries both to find a way to extricate himself from the question and to come up with an answer in case he is not allowed to do so, Faelan sputters, gesturing vaguely with a hand as he searches for words in Mando'a, "Oh, ah, well . . . that is . . . see, I . . ." Lifting one hand to cover his face, Faelan laughs at his discomfort uncomfortably, and holds up his other hand to silently ask for a moment to, if nothing else, recover from having been caught off guard.
When he feels as though he can speak in something other than sentence fragments, Faelan looks at Telarial with an almost pained expression as, unable to deny her anything even when it requires he submit himself to the torture introspection can often invite, he permits himself to let go of his guarded nature enough to speak without formulating a plan of attack for doing so, his words stilted at first but coming more freely as he goes on, "Before you came into my life, I had . . . when I lost my sons and my wife, it was like, like . . . a part of me died with them. I went on, but for a long time I was more a . . . a hollow shell, going on mechanically. Even later, when time. . . mended, not healed, what had been broken in me, I closed myself off, to . . . so that I was not vulnerable, could not be hurt in the way I had been when . . . when . . . Rubbing the bridge of his nose as he looks down and sighs before going on, Faelan says, But you, maybe because we are so alike, or because your . . . your spirit sparked something not yet dead in me despite what I felt and believed, you came into my life and . . . Faelan looks back at Telarial, clearly struggling to put something into words that is beyond his capability to express as clearly as he would like to do for her sake, You got through the . . . the barriers I had put up and thought would never be passed, and, he shrugs, laughing as he gives up on finding the right words and just says those that come to him without searching, What can I say to make you understand? You were . . . you are a daughter to me, you made . . . you make me . . . feel again . . . made me feel for you what a father feels for his daughter, and so . . . he lifts his hands as though offering what feels to him to be his inadequate words with an apologetic, tentative smile to match his tone, that is why I formally made you my daughter. It was merely acknowledging something that already was true, for me as I hope it was for you as well."

*Telarial was clearly amused as Faelan spluttered at a loss of words at first. It was rather comical. Once he explained the reason behind his decision to adopt her, taking into account the history of his past and what he'd been through, she finally found the courage to voice her insecurities. To her surprise she found herself stuttering as well as she struggled to formulate the right words much to her surprise. Words that she had originally believed to be rehearsed.*
"I'm glad that you did. All I've ever wanted since the deaths of my parents...was a family. Especially after Arkillian's death and the uncertainty regarding my brother's fate. I just...I'm so sorry that I...wasn't--couldn't, or rather...I just don't feel worthy enough to be your ad. I wasn't able to defend myself from Montreal...I feel as though I've shamed you. I feel...selfish...for so easily accepting you as my buir, knowing that should you ever lose me...it would...hurt you."

Telarial's discomfort, coupled with the feelings she describes concerning her sense of having failed him, are naturally distressing to Faelan, and he is moving to sit in the chair beside her bed, reaching to take her hands in his, before she has even finished speaking. Shaking his head as though to vehemently deny that there is even a shred of truth in what she has been thinking, Faelan speaks quickly and with no equivocation, "No ad'ika, no you mustn't ever think . . . or feel that . . ."
"Oh no, oh please no, comes a voice from behind Faelan, silencing his protests. Fighting against laughter, Lorcan, younger and more heavily muscled than his brother, holds up his hands as he strides into the room and says, I got here just in time I see. Looking at Raine he asks in theatrical concern, He hasn't started crying yet has he? Please tell me I didn't miss the Iceman show that level of emotion? Looking at Telarial, head canted to the side at an inquisitive angle, Lorcan smiles after examining her a moment, pointing a finger at her as he says, I've seen you before. Nodding, clearly pleased with himself, he says, Yeah, from the 'baat, right? Right. Shaking his head and patting Faelan on the shoulder consolingly, Lorcan glances at Raine as he says, And I thought this little dinii was trouble. Clucking his tongue as he looks at Raine and shakes his head, Lorcan pats Faelan's shoulder and says, You sure can pick 'em bro'. You missed your calling I think. Maybe, he snaps his fingers as though struck by an idea, you should start a home for wayward, troubled . . . "
Rubbing his eyes while shaking his head, Faelan says through gritted teeth, "Now really isn. . ."
"Lorcan, Lorcan, ignoring Faelan entirely, says cheerily to Telarial while tapping his chest plate. That's me. This, he pats Faelan's shoulder, scowling as his older brother tries to shrug his hand away, dinii's younger, better looking, stronger, and far, far more fun brother. Now then, he leans forward and takes a slice of toast from Telarial's tray, munching on it as he hooks a thumb over his shoulder towards the door, if we're all finished with sharing our feelings or whatever, I have a very lovely, quite buxo . . . charming friend waiting for me, so can we all get moving please?"

*Telarial is speechless when Lorcan walks into the room. She could definitely tell he was related to Faelan, their resemblance rather uncanny. She nods to confirm that he has indeed seen her in the 'baat before and frowns when he makes what seems to her to be a belittling comment, comparing her to a wayward, troubled, stray and growls. She had to resist the urge to throw something at him. Telarial then looked at Faelan with wide eyes as a realization dawned on her.*
"Faelan...you didn't tell your vod about the gai bal manda yet, did you?"
*Knowing now that Lorcan was undoubtedly her new uncle, perhaps she could get away with throwing something at him...from Faelan's irritated expression he would probably encourage it. Seeing the opportunity to get rid of the food she still had no desire to eat, she pushed the tray Lorcan's way with a mischievous grin.*
"Please, help yourself. You'll be doing me a favor. I promise it's not poisoned or anything...."

Picking up the tray that Telarial pushes towards him, smacking Faelan's hand away when he tries to take it to return to Telarial, Lorcan looks immensely relived as, talking right over Faelan as he often does, he says, "Oh, you're Telree-lee or whatever? That's a relief! I thought you were mangy stray number . . . he looks up as though confused, pretending to try to count on the fingers of his free hand, three is it? Shrugging as he picks up a bowl of sliced fruit from the tray and begins eating, Lorcan pats Faelan on the shoulder despite the fact that his older brother is looking increasingly annoyed, and says, He was chitty chat chatting away about the gai bal manda like a woman earlier, so don't get your panties in a bunch. Offering the tray to Raine in case she wants anything before he finishes everything on it, Lorcan looks around the room searchingly as he asks, Do we need to step out so you can get dressed or something? Putting a hand under Faelan's arm and lifting him up, Lorcan shakes his head and says, He never thinks of these things. She's old enough to dress herself vod, let's give her some privacy. Teen girls need that, he says as he gives Telarial a thumbs up with a wink, am I right? We'll be outside, he says, shoving Faelan towards the door and then lifting Raine up to herd her towards it as well. Don't take too long though, he tells Telarial over a shoulder, speaking over Faelan who has not yet been able to get a word in despite several failed attempts to interrupt Lorcan, charming blonde friend waiting, remember?"
"We'll be right ou . . ." Faelan starts to say, putting a hand up to try and keep from getting pushed into the hall.
"I just told her that, Lorcan interrupts, giving Faelan a final shove out into the hall and setting the tray down after grabbing the slices of bacon and nibbling on one as he shakes his head and says to Telarial, He never listens, have you figured that out yet? Dress fast, he says cheerfully, closing the door behind him. A moment later, he can be heard asking in an aggrieved, confused tone, Ow! What did I do?"

*Telarial growls at Lorcan and is also unable to get in a word edgewise. That was sure to change. Telarial got dressed, pulling on her jumpsuit and boots, she grabs her duffel which has her beskar'gam in it and exits out of the room but not before grabbing the water bottle that had come with the breakfast tray from the bedside table. Once she is out in the hall and spots Lorcan, she hurls the water bottle at his head with great force while he is busy talking with his vod, uncaring of the consequences. In mere seconds she is standing directly in front of Lorcan and gives him a piercing glare, craning her neck up to look at him, not at all intimidated by the fact that he is 5'11, practically towering over her shorter 5'7, lightly muscled frame. When she speaks, her words are icy and her eyes wrathful as she shoves an index finger into his chest armor.*
"Alright...let's get something straight. My name is TELARIAL...secondly, I'm NOT a mangy stray you di'kut!! Thirdly, you disrespect my buir like that again, I swear I'll kick your ass!!"
*Having finished her little rant she visibly begins to calm although a burning fire can still be seen in her eyes. She runs a hand through her hair, as she gives him a frown.*
"And fourthly, thanks enough to be considerate enough to give me privacy."

Lorcan, unable to take Telarial seriously despite the fact he has just barely dodged a water bottle to the head and can easily tell that her ire is not only genuine but also very likely not something to take lightly if he does not want to court injury of one kind or another, cannot keep from grinning as he lifts his hands as though surrendering and cheerily says, "Whoa there! Message received loud and clear. Looking over at Faelan, Lorcan jokingly asks, Are you sure this one isn't really yours vod? She has your icy stare."
Nearly prodded into responding, Faelan opens his mouth only to close it a moment later, shaking his head as he motions for everyone to follow him as he leads the way to the turbolift that will take them to the ground floor.
Rubbing his hands together after eating the last of the bacon, Lorcan asks no one in particular, "I can just get dropped off at the 'baat, right? That's where . . ."
Faelan silences Lorcan by lifting a hand, and then steps onto the trubolift as it arrives.
Lorcan, looking over at Telarial with an innocent expression, holds his hands out at his sides to silently ask what he did, but nonetheless keeps quiet for the trip to Faelan's speeder as he has had a lifetime to learn when the time comes to stop pushing his older brother's buttons.

*Telarial's icy stare soon melts away when Lorcan appears to be apologetic on some level. The joke regarding if she might be related to Faelan made her smile despite the fact she was adopted.*
*Before any of them could leave the hospital, Dr. Hildron signed the discharge papers and gave Faelan explicit instructions.*
"She may now leave the hospital. However, your ad must avoid strenuous activities for at least a week. Should she show any symptoms of fever, chronic pain in her leg, or mental impairment such as prolonged bouts of confusion or memory loss, bring her back to the hospital immediately. I have prescribed some pain medication that should aid in her recovery."
*The doctor left once Faelan had received and accepted the instruction packet*
*Telarial remained silent, unsure of what to say and allowed Faelan to lead the way. However, she soon began limping as a dull pain began to throb in her leg, and held a hand to her bandaged rib-cage as though having a difficult time breathing. The hand that was holding her duffel bag began to shake, indicating that the strain was becoming too much for her to bear. Not wanting to appear weak in Lorcan's presence, she pridefully remains quiet and does not ask for help*

Looking over his shoulder as they near the speeder, Faelan feels a pang of guilt when he can plainly see that Telarial is struggling with the duffel containing her beskar'gam, and the doctor's instructions come back to his mind hauntingly when he sees that she is limping as well. Jogging back to take the duffel from Telarial, Faelan slings it over his left shoulder as he puts his right hand on Telarial's shoulder and looks into her eyes as he asks in a concerned tone, "Are you alright ad'ika? Do we need to go back?"
Taking the duffel from Faelan and tossing it into the back of the speeder, Lorcan, for once not sounding as though everything is a joke to him, the fact that he has begun to accept her as family clear in his concerned tone as he tells Telarial, "No time to put up a brave front, Tee. You feel off at all, you let us know so that we can make sure you're alright. No messing about now, got it?"

*Telarial's protests died on her lips when both Faelan and Lorcan expressed their deep concern for her and allowed them to take her duffel bag from her. She shook her head as she climbed carefully into Faelan's speeder and strapped herself in. Telarial answered first Faelan and then Lorcan.*
"No, I don't need to go back. I'm fine, buir, really. Thank you Lorcan..."
*Her expression of gratitude trailed off briefly as a thought came to her. Telarial wasn't sure how Lorcan perceived her or if he even accepted her as family yet but couldn't resist asking the question that was on the tip of her tongue.*
"Lorcan...I know we just met, but...is it alright if I call you ba'vodu* from now on?"
*Uncle
