*Hours pass until at long last, Telarial displays the first signs of consciousness. Her left hand reached out and a palm slammed against the glass of the bacta unit. Her brown-green eyes flew open and she began to struggle and swim, no doubt believing in her mind that she was drowning and began to beat a fist weakly against the glass in a vain attempt to break it. Her heart monitor spiked as did her respiration rates indicating her severe distress. The doctors had been monitoring her brain wave activity and knew before she even opened her eyes that she was conscious and were already in the process of lifting her out of the tank. Completely confused, scared, and disoriented she began to scream as soon as the nose plug was removed and the breathing apparatus was pulled out of her mouth.*
"LET ME GO! BUIR! ADONIAS! ARKILLIAN!"
*Telarial began to weakly fight back against the medical staff as they dried her off and had to be pinned down. One of them injected her with a mild sedative using a hypo and then lifted her onto a medical bed that would take her to her hospital room.*
"Where am I?! Please...please let me go!"
*One of the nurses took out a penlight and shone it in one of Telarial's eyes and spoke to a colleague.*
"She still has a minor concussion."
*Turning their attention back on Telarial they began to ask her a few questions in the hopes of determining her current condition. The results were not promising.*
" Young lady, can you remember what happened? Do you know where you are? Do you know what day it is?"
*Telarial noticed the Mando'ade with the green and black Beskar'gam sitting on a cot nearby but looked away with disinterest as though she'd never seen him before in her life. She frowned at all of the questions*
"No! I don't. What happened? Where am I?"
*Dr. Hildron began typing notes into a nearby computer terminal as he listened and watched Telarial closely for any indications that a complication would arise*.
"You were brutally assaulted. you were transported from the police station to this hospital. Your buir has hardly left your side." *The Dr. gestured towards Faelan. The sedative clearly began to take effect as Telarial's eyelids grew heavy. She looked back at the Mando'ade the Dr. claimed was her buir. For the briefest second, a spark of recognition crossed her face but it vanished as quickly as it came. She began to mumble as she closed her eyes.*
"I don't...remember."
*Telarial fell asleep almost instantly as the sedative hit her full force. Dr. Hildron approached Faelan as he rubbed his right temple as though he had a headache.*
"I'm sorry you had to bear witness to that. Your ad is suffering from a rather rare and hopefully temporary case of retrograde amnesia. Please don't be alarmed. The head trauma she sustained concussed her enough for this to occur. Patients that awaken within a bacta tank always have a brief form of retrograde amnesia, unable to immediately remember or recall the events that led to their hospital admittance. With a little bit of time and patience, she should recover within the next 5-7 days. Any longer than that I fear...is a different matter entirely. You are welcome to stay in the patient's room. She should awaken sometime within the hour. The Chief of police wanted me to pass on a message. The criminal responsible for the attempted murder of your ad has been sentenced to death. The authorities send their condolences and have already paid for the medical expenses and all meals you and the other young child require. If you need anything at all, here is my com-number."
*Dr. Hildron soon left the room, no doubt to go tend to other patients. The nurses gestured for Faelan and Raine to follow them down the hall where they then took a turbo lift to the seventh floor. From there they wheeled her into a spacious room and began to hook her up to standard monitoring equipment. Across the room was a small fridge with beverages and above it a little cupboard with snacks should any visitors prefer to remain in the patient's room. The medical staff gave Faelan and Raine permission to use the spare bed in the room and brought another cot, this one far more comfortable than the one from downstairs. The nurses then left to return to their station.*

When, after Telarial regains consciousness and is removed from the bacta tank, it becomes clear that she has no memory of him, Faelan has little external reaction save for a momentary paleness of his complexion accompanied by an increased rigidity in his posture as, inside, he feels something fragile within him which had begun to mend with Telarial's arrival in his life begin to crack and grow brittle once more. His internal defenses, however, soon rise, and Faelan walls off any potential weakness before it can spread like rot, determined to remain strong for Telarial no matter what slings or arrows might come his way in the course of doing so.
Faelan's response to Dr. Hildron's news is terse and stoic, a simple and sincere, "Thank you for everything Doctor," after he is provided with Hildron's com-number. The news about the fate of the chakaaryc that attempted to kill Telarial is of little concern to Faelan at the moment, all of his focus instead riveted on what can be done to make her well and ideally to restore her memory as well. Refusing to permit the helplessness he can feel threatening to pull him down in depression, Faelan looks for ways to, if not actively contribute to Telarial's recovery, at least remain active. After he and Raine have been shown to the room where Telarial was taken, Faelan fusses over making sure that Raine has all she needs for a while, focusing on her mental and physical well-being - he makes sure she has enough to eat, asks if she would like Lorcan or Raicheal to come get her or at least take her away from the medcenter for a while, asks if there is anything like clothes, datapads with games or books or holovids which she would like him to arrange to have brought to the medcenter for her entertainment - before he stations himself at Telarial's bedside and throws himself into the tasks of watching over her and researching her condition.
Leaving the bedside only once, to get Telarial's belongings after some of the literature he found in the course of his research has suggested that personal items could trigger the return of lost memories. Finding the pendant necklace Telarial's twin had given her, Faelan places it on the bedside table so that Telarial will see it easily should she wake, and then, fighting against the pull of sleep as physical and mental exhaustion begin to take a toll on him, settles more comfortably into the chair beside the bed as he resumes his vigil.

*An hour after Telarial was settled in her new room, the sedative finally wore off and her eyelids slowly fluttered open. She was once again confused and was rather startled to see a strange Mando'ade sitting beside her. Her eyes immediately notice the pendant her brother had given her and she looks at the man sitting next to her.*
"Who are you? And how did you come by this?"

The lack of recognition in Telarial's eyes when she wakes, despite having been expected and theoretically prepared for, feels to Falean like a vibroblade thrust into his gut and twisted. A grimace intended to be a smile appears on Faelan's face and disappears just as quickly as he swallows, reminding himself that he can do more good for Telarial by remaining calm, and not permitting his wounded feelings to prevent him from helping in what little way he can.
Keeping his voice even, running through all that he read about dealing with those suffering from memory loss, Faelan speaks calmly and with pauses to allow Telarial to interject with questions, beginning by saying, "I am Faelan Bralor, your bu . . . trailing off while raising a hand, deciding to leave some details to be revealed at a later time given that Telarial seems to have lost her memories of her time with him entirely, Faelan settles for saying only, I'm your guardian, though the doctor says you may not remember that until later. This, he picks up the pendant and holds it out for Telarial to take from him, was given to me by your twin brother Adonias, so that I could give it to you in turn. Not wanting to push Telarial, Faelan asks her something nonthreatening instead of whether or not the pendant has triggered any memories, Are you thirsty? In pain? I can call for the nurse if you are hurting."

*Telarial's eyes widen at the mention of her twin brother. Slowly, a small portion of her memory returns. When she speaks it's barely above a whisper.*
"My brother is alive...isn't he? I...I think...I saw him at the spaceport."
*The young woman gives Faelan a searching gaze as if silently asking for him to confirm or deny her claim. She gives him a small nod of gratitude in answer to one of his rather compassionate questions.*
"I am a little thirsty...yes. Vor entye."
*Her eyes narrowed suspiciously at him as she recalled what the doctor had told her.*
"The Doctor said you are my buir..." *Her question trails off as she searches Faelan's face, for any hint or indication that what she was beginning to suspect in regards to her memories returning was indeed even remotely accurate.*

*Raine went jogging quickly through the halls towards Telarials room. After finally deciding to get up and face the day. She was now dressed in her normal combat boots, completely untied, brown cargo pants with a plaid skirt over that and a black t-shirt. As she ran, she battled with her exceedingly long hair in an attempt to put it into a ponytail. Drawing closer to the room, she could hear voice. One was Faelan, the other was Telarials. Even a distance away she could tell that Telarial seemed confused about something. Raine got closer to the room and peeked around the corner. From what she could tell, Telarial couldn't remember anything. Raine was almost afraid to intrude on the conversation. Instead she stood half hidden by the doorframe until she was sure she could go in &

Faelan nods, a hopeful smile appearing on his face before his internal defenses tamp it out with reminders about all he has learned of memory loss and how the return of a portion of memory does not guarantee that all that was lost will be restored with time or care, and tells Telarial, "Yes, he is alive. You saw him earlier tonight, at the spaceport, just as you remember. That is good, some of your memories are returning it seems," he says, resisting the urge to try and lead her to search for other memories of the evening's events; while she seems to have forgotten him, Faelan reminds himself, she also seems to have forgotten how she was harmed, and he would not want to drive her to face those traumatic memories before her mind is ready to deal with them.
Pouring a glass of water from a pitcher on the bedside table, Faelan holds it out for Telarial to take or sip from as he holds it, a tentative smile on his face to match the hope in his eyes when he nods to confirm that the doctor was correct, "I am your buir, ad'ika, yes. Though there is little, if any distinction in Mandalorian culture, Faelan hopes making it will help restore Telarial's memory, and so explains, You are not mine by birth, but by choice. Lifting a hand to make it clear he has no wish to press her to remember him or their relationship, Falean says with a calm detachment that he does not truly feel, The memory of me may return in time, don't try to force it. What is important is that you rest, and get your strength back."

*Telarial slowly nods, accepting all that Faelan has confirmed and revealed. She takes the glass of water and begins to drink it in small gulps. Pausing to catch her breath, she looks at Faelan with a sad frown.*
"I'm sorry I can't remember you...but..."
*She tentatively reaches a hand out to tenderly touch his cheek and with curious, searching eyes, she studies his face. Telarial for the briefest moment appeared to recognize him.*
"I know your face..."
*The spark of recognition remained although her confusion did not abate. A nurse walked in at that moment with a tray of food and set it down in front of Telarial. The young woman pulled her hand away and frowned.*
"I'm not hungry."
*The nurse shook her head*
"Doctor's orders. All bacta patients require a good solid meal."
*Telarial pretended that she was going to play the good, obedient patient and do as her doctor ordered but the fact remained. She. Wasn't. Hungry! She was a bit relieved when the nurse walked out of the room, allowing Telarial to push her tray away. Upon the nurses departure, her eyes caught sight of Raine. She smiled shyly and waved her in.*
"I'm guessing I'm supposed to remember you too? Sorry...please don't take offense."

Faelan's relief when Telarial seems to recognize him is evident in his expression; though he cautions himself not to get his hopes up too high and has soon resumed his impassive and stoic composure, he cannot help but feel he has been given a sign that life will not be so cruel as to bring him together with Telarial, who had become like a daughter to him even before that relationship was made official in the customary Mandalorian way, only to tear her away from him by robbing her of her memories of him.
Smiling to himself when Raine joins them, Faelan picks up the tray of food Telarial has expressed no desire to eat - spoiling Telarial as instinctively as any father spoils a daughter by catering to her every whim without realizing he does so - and stands, saying, "I'll just put this aside for later, in case your appetite returns." Walking towards the refrigerator provided with the room, Faelan puts the tray inside, and only with his back still turned allows himself a moment to acknowledge the complicated tangle of emotions flowing through him and making him feel weakened. Rubbing his eyes, Faelan reminds himself that he must be strong and patient for Telarial as well as Raine, both of whom have placed their trust in him, and takes a deep breath as he tamps his concern for Telarial down so that he can focus on being there for her, and being a rock for her and Raine.
Not wanting to intrude on Telarial and Raine. though he cannot help but want to keep Telarial in his sight and so does not go far, Faelan walks to a window near the bed, smiling at both Raine and Telarial as he passes the bed, and rests a shoulder against the wall as he looks outside at the city lights as the first hint of morning's arrival begin to show on the horizon.

*Telarial gives Raine another smile when the young girl is polite enough to thank her for the compliment.*
"You are most welcome. Thank you for visiting me. I hope I'm not keeping you here if you have other things you wish to do.""
*Telarial is rather surprised when Faelan removes her tray to put it in the fridge in the event her hunger returns. She scrutinized his actions and his words while he wasn't looking to try and better gauge him. He really was acting like a buir. Suddenly Telarial looks alarmed as she begins searching the room with her eyes in a near panic as a part of her brain apparently awakens.*
"Where the hell is my beskar'gam?! Did someone steal it?! I could have sworn I was wearing it...."
*She glanced down at her hospital attire with a frown, clearly puzzled.*

Brows knitting in concern as he looks from the view outside the window as Telarial begins asking about her beskar'gam, Faelan waves his hands to signal her to remain calm and not exert herself as he says gently, "Your beskar'gam is here ad'ika. It was removed so that your injuries could be treated, nothing more. The implications becoming clear to him as the question's meaning sinks in, Faelan reminds himself to stay calm and speaks evenly as he continues, You just need rest ad'ika. Your memories will return in time, he says, the lie an easy one for him as Faelan would spare Telarial from any distress or pain it is in his power to keep at bay, just as your injuries will heal in time so long as you give your mind and body the rest they need."

*Telarial attempts to sit up but hisses in pain when her aching ribs protest the action. Holding a hand against the bandage around her chest, she settles back down, feeling slightly antsy.*
"I don't want to rest. I feel like I'm missing something...important."
*The frown she wore soon turned into an adorable pout as she gingerly crossed her arms. A yawn escaped her unbidden and she growled when she realized he was right. She did need rest. Her eye lids grew heavy yet again and they closed. She mumbled something nearly unintelligible regarding the fact she wasn't really tired and drifted off into a deep slumber. Five minutes later, light, soft snores confirmed that she was indeed fast asleep.*

"We can figure that out, together, once you've rested ad'ika," Faelan tells Telarial when she protests that she feels as though something is eluding her. Though Falean can feel the hope that her restlessness and feeling something is missing means that her memories are fighting to return, his old defenses have arisen within him, cautioning him against the dangers of hope.
Walking back to the side of Telarial's bed, Faelan fights against the paternal instinct to brush the hair back from her forehead as she yawns while struggling to stay awake; the thought that she might recoil from his touch as she does not remember who he is almost too much to bear. "Sleep ad'ika," Falean whispers softly when Telarial's eyes close, his expression briefly unguarded and revealing his hope that his daughter recovers without any lasting effects from her injuries as plainly as it reveals his fear that he has failed her, and will lose her because of it.
Standing up straighter with a sniff, remembering that he must be strong for Raine as well as for Telarial no matter what comes, Faelan goes to Raine and tentatively offers her a hug as he says, "You should get some sleep too Raine. We all should," he adds, dropping into the chair beside Telarial's bed to resume his vigil over her. Though he knows he should rest, and that watching over Telarial as though he could stand sentry over her while she fights to recover is not necessary, Faelan fights against sleep for as long as can, succumbing to it only when exhaustion weakens him too much to struggle against sleep any longer.

*While Telarial slept, the nursing staff came and went throughout the day to check her vitals. They did not disturb her sleep. It was a good thing too, for during the five hours that she slept, her mind was quite active as dreams pervaded her subconsciousness. The dreams she had quickly became memories and the images began to flash faster and faster like a movie reel. With a gasp and a startled cry, she finally woke up, calling out for the one person she knew to be her father.*
"FAELAN!"
*Her hospital attire clung to her skin from a thin sheen of sweat and she was panting for air as though she'd been running. Her eyes scanned the room and soon fell upon the form of Faelan who was faithfully sitting right beside her. Seeing that he was resting peacefully and deeply, she didn't dare disturb his rest, knowing without a doubt that he most likely stayed awake all night to watch over her. She noticed that Raine was nearby fast asleep as well. A soft smile crept across her face at the sight. Telarial reclined back against the fluffy pillows of the hospital bed and watched Faelan as he slept soundly beside her, laughing internally at the idea that their roles as bedside guardian had been temporarily reversed. The mirth she felt within quickly faded away when she remembered the details concerning Montreal's assault on her and Faealan's actions to save her. The guilt returned as did the self-loathing, bitterness, and feeling of utter failure. She hated herself for being so weak, so helpless, for nearly putting Faelan through another agonizing loss had she actually perished, a loss that would no doubt have made him twice as broken as when she first met him. Telarial could only imagine the hollow, shell of a man, not living but simply existing...a future she promised herself would never become of Faelan. She began to regret ever entering his life...what could she possibly offer him? All she had brought him thus far, as far as she knew, was pain and grief. The hunger and desire for food that she had begun to feel quickly vanished as her outward demeanor changed. In place of her normal, happy-go-lucky attitude, was a dour disposition, quite similar to Faelan's stoic reservation.*

Quietly, she crawled out of bed and went to Telarials bedside. She could tell that Telarial was fighting something internally. Trying not to wake Faelan, she spoke in a low voice.* "Can't sleep?"
