*Ellie gave a light laugh at Eimhin's enthusiasm.* "I think he does. And yes, we can fight all the fake pirates you want." *She turned her attention back to Lorcan* "I can grab a duffle bag from my ship and be there tonight. Traveling light is something I've grown used to."
*She gave a nod when Lorcan explained why her afternoons would be free. Mostly it was a nod of respect for what he was doing at that time.* "That's a very respectable thing, Lorcan. A lot of those kids might not have that chance. Glad to see someone taking the initiative."

Pumping his fist with a happy grin, Eimhin says, "Awesome! when Ellie says that they can fight all the fake pirates he wants, enthusiastically telling her, I even have my own beskar'gam, so I can wear it when we fight 'em! Digging heartily into his meal, Eimhin tells Raine with his mouth full of food, You're gonna fight with me an' Ellie too, right? You can wear your beskar'gam too!"
Shaking his head with a smile that both reveals the depth of his love for his son and his amusement at the boy's enthusiasm for the idea of fighting fake pirates, Lorcan shrugs his shoulders humbly when Ellie suggests his actions are respectable, admitting to her, "Well, I can't take all the credit actually. My brother, Faelan, came up with the idea."
Rejoining the conversation with a comment only tangentially related to the subject being discussed, Eimhin says, "My ba'vodu Faelan plays the bes'bev! You can use a bes'bev to fight with too! Isn't that cool!"

"You do! That'll definitely come in handy when fighting pirates." *Ellie said, as she tried to match Eimhin's enthusiasm about his beskar'gam.* "You bet I'm going to help you fight em."
*Ellie gave Lorcan a smile as he gave his brother credit for the idea of helping at the orphanage.* "It might have been his idea, but you followed through with it. So that counts for something." *Her smile faded some as she thought about her own sibling.* "Wish I'd listened to my sister's advice about a lot of things."
*Eimhin brought the smile back as he told her about his uncle and the bes'bev he had.* "Oh, does he? I've never actually seen anyone play one before, let alone fight with one. Has he been teaching you to play it?"

Lorcan nods with a grin to concede her point when Ellie says that he deserves some credit for having followed through on his brother's suggestion, chuckling and saying, " I can definitely relate to that," when she goes on to say that there are times she wishes she had heeded the advice of her sister.
Eimhin, clearly pleased to have Ellie's attention, nods with a wide smile as he says, "He does, yep! Frowning a bit when asked if his ba'vodu had been teaching him to play the bes'bev, he tells her, Not yet, he had to go away to Agamar with our auntie Fee for a secret mission or something. Grinning and tugging on Lorcan's sleeve, he asks, He can teach me when he comes back though, right?"
Nodding and ruffling Eimhin's hair, Lorcan says, "Sure he can, lil' buddy."

*Ellie gave a small chuckle at Eimhin. He was definitely an excitable child, probably a handful for his buir. Her attention turned to Raine, as she had been awfully quiet.* "So, Raine. Have you been on any adventures like your vod?" *She was curious to know more about the girl.

While he chuckles, indicating an amusement suggesting that Ellie's question is one that most definitely has an affirmative answer, after Ellie asks Raine if she has had any adventures, Lorcan does not answer on his ad's behalf, instead glancing over at Raine and motioning towards her to field the question as she sees fit.
Torin, rising from his seat, uses the brief lull in the conversation to excuse himself, explaining, "I have some other business to attend to, so you will just have to do your best to finish the meal without my riveting company. Smiling, he tells Ellie, Always a pleasure, Ellie. Ret'urcye mhi, and then winks as he tells Raine and Eimhin, Try and keep your buir out of trouble," before nodding his farwell and, tucking his gray and black hued buy'ce beneath his arm, makes his way to the Mand'alor's office.
Upon reaching the door to the Mand'alor's office, Torin raps his gloved knuckles on it to see if Aya is available so that he can make his first report to her on his progress thus far in visiting the core Mando'ade worlds to ascertain the present state of their naval fleets and readiness.

==Mand'alor's Paperwork Woes== <<108PP; O7 Sector, Mandalore, Keldade, Oyu'baat, Mand'alor's Office>>
Aya was in the office. For the last year or so since she had claimed the title, she had more or less lived in it. Only periodic trips out to Lehon to sort out major issues had allowed her a break. It was fortunate the Imperium was set up & designed to more or less run on its own, without high level input for long periods. It wasn't as efficient as when she had the time to micromanage it, but it survived well enough. A few rounds of promotions had actually been caused by her extended absence, as certain people proved to work even better when given more latitude.
The Assembly was fair from in the same shape. She had though that raw power, both personal & organizational, she brought to the task would be enough to quickly clear out the back log of issues that had been more or less ignored by her predecessors. She had been wrong. Sure, the oldest stuff in the pile had long since settled itself. The newer things in the pile however, had been a mess of judgement requests, feuds, logistic gordian knots & similar issues. Most of her time was spend simply trying to keep it from getting any worse.
On top of that, despite the heavy support for her plan to drag the other clans up in technological & economic prowess to her own, only three clans had actually taken the offered aids. & those three all limited how much aid that would take. Awaud had accepted aid disguised as a mission, but had instead of actually completing it, had instead used it to fort up on a world of their own. Of course, they were doing well on their own there, so it worked out. Itera had accepted a large foundry ship tooled for novacrystal working. But had refused the technical support & was making slow progress in adapting it to their own methods. The last was Bralor, who had actually followed through with what they had been tasked to do. Though at a far slower pace than Aya would have liked.
As if summoned by that thought, there was a knock at her office door. She was well informed enough to know who was on the other side already, but as he had sat down to eat on entering the tavern, she had assumed he was here on other business.
-Aya Come in, Master Torin. The door is not locked.

Entering the office when invited, Torin removes his buy'ce and holds it tucked into the crock of his right arm as he respectfully comes to attention and greets Aya, "Su cuy'gar, Mand'alor. Relaxing, as much as his sense of decorum and military nature permit him to, Torin reveals his penchant for directness when he wastes no more time before explaining, I've come to report on progress thus far with inspecting the present state of the orbital defenses currently present on our core worlds." Reaching into a tactical pouch on his hip, he pulls out a datapad containing more thorough accounts of his visits to Ordo, Concord Dawn and Telos IV than the verbal account he begins as he leans forward to set the datapad on Aya's desk.
"I've travelled personally to Ordo, Concord Dawn and Telos IV so far, Torin begins as he returns to what would pass in many a military for parade rest. As my written report will show when you have time to go though it, Ordo has an adequate defensive fleet in place, requiring only some system upgrades and minor repairs to ensure it is operating at optimal efficiency and readiness. Torin's written report includes his assessment of Ordo's fleet displaying more than appropriate levels of battle readiness and orbital security, and so he moves on with his report, I've sent engineers from my clan to Ordo so that the repairs and upgrades can get underway as soon as possible."
"Concord Dawn, Torin moves on to his next topic, will require a bit more effort, however. Summarizing his written report in brief, he says, At present they have only a single Crusader-class corvette operating as orbital defense. I've sent some of my clan's vessels to temporarily augment Concord Dawn's orbital defense, but a more permanent solution will be needed. Their Aliit'alor says that he has sufficient trained crewmen for a permanent defensive fleet of their own available, and requires only whatever ships we can provide him with. Has there been any progress with restoring the production capabilities of MandalMotors?"

One thing she had kept the same in the office was the lack of chairs. True, there was a cot in the corner, sheets still rumpled. But she was standing by the table piled with reports the same as any of her guests would be. There wasn't room for more than one chair, & taking the only seat in the room was not a message that Aya wanted to send.
-Aya 'lek. Gar balyc. The spaceyards here are ready for a trial run of capital ships. Likely nothing over a thousand meters to begin with. & the resources will have to be relocated from my clan's supply lines until a more local supplier can be found. We would only need to know what type of ships that Concord Dawn feels best.
She pauses a long moment.
-Aya Along with the possibly more pertinent question of if we should try to standardize the hulls we stock our defenses with. Ord'inii has many older designs taken from sources across the galaxy & we can produce our own versions of those ships with modern fittings. But that might not be the best choice in the long run.

When Ellie asked her a question, she started some.* "Huh? Oh, well...sorta. We went to Yavin IV and I was kidnapped by pirates. Then I almost got my arm chewed off by a nexu." *She held up her bandaged arm some for Ellie to see.* "Not a lot after that. Except..." *Her gray eyes turned to her buir.* "I kinda got left at an orphanage."

*Ellie raised and eyebrow when Raine told her of the adventures that she had. All of which seemed dangerous for a young teen.* "You almost lost an arm?" *Ellie asked as she looked from Raine to her buir.* "I definitely wasn't expecting that answer. Now I'm beginning to see why you needed someone to help watch them."

Lorcan rubs the back of his neck with an awkward chuckle when, after Raine tells a bit about her adventures, Ellie says that she can see why it is that he would need an extra pair of hands and set of eyes to watch over his children. Nodding his head, Lorcan grins sheepishly and says, "Yeah, I guess when you hear all about what we've gone through at once like that it really does sound like I haven't been doing the best job with the parenting, doesn't it?" Frowning as he mulls over what he has said, Lorcan wonders how much of what happened was due to his irresponsibility rather than plain bad luck, and decides that, no matter where the ultimate blame might lay, it is clear that he will have to do a better job training Raine and Eimhin to be prepared for whatever comes their way.
Finishing his meal in relative silence, his thoughts on how to incorporate more training into their daily routine, Lorcan asks when it seems as though everyone is finished eating, "Well, is everyone ready to head back to Norg Bral, or is there anything anyone needs from anywhere while we're here in the city?" ==Mand'alor's Paperwork Woes== <<108PP; O7 Sector, Mandalore, Keldade, Oyu'baat, Mand'alor's Office>> -Aya 'lek. Torin nods after grunting noncommittally in response to Aya's musings about standardizing hulls and what kinds of ships to produce, both questions matters for another time in his opinion. Addressing some of Aya's earlier remarks, he says, "Supplies should not be as pressing an issue as you think, actually. Clan Bralor has been making regular shipments of natural resources and even some finished shipbuilding components from Agamar for some time now in hopes of MandalMotors being returned to production capacity."
Rubbing his chin, he goes on, "I'll contact Concord Dawn regarding what kinds of vessels they envision comprising their fleet and let you know their reply once I hear back from them so that things at MandalMotors can be set in motion. Moving on to the last of his initial assessments, Torin says, I've also been to Telos IV, where Clan Awaud has things well in hand. They have an impressive, well maintained defensive fleet in operation, and it stands at a state of readiness should they be called into action."

Aya nods. The news was not completely unexpected, but the reports (if any had been made in the first place) hadn't reached her yet.
-Aya That is good news, the extra supplies will go a long way toward keeping things flowing. & any worlds already ready to stand in defense of themselves & others is an even greater help. How does your own clan stand on that front? Did you have a report on the condition of Ordo yet? Or is it still ongoing?

Torin nods in agreement when Aya remarks that the extra supplies will be helpful, and then answers her questions in his customarily succinct manner, "My clan's fleet is adequate to the purpose of defending Agamar, and sizable enough that it could lend aid to other clans if needed. The repairs of Ordo's fleet are ongoing, but estimated to be completed within the week. Shifting his buy'ce from beneath his left arm to his right, Torin shifts his mind to the next steps in his appointed task, considering which worlds are still in need of assessment, and after a pause asks, Does Aliit'alor Karr still maintain his fleet in orbit over Manda'yaim?"

She tapped briefly on a data pad to pull up the current status of the planet's orbital lanes. It wasn't always the most up to date, but it worked well enough most of the time.
-Aya The majority of it, yes. It seems a small task force had been dispatched from it a while back & hasn't yet returned.

*Ellie gave Lorcan a small smile.* "Nobody's a perfect parent. The fact that they're both alive, after all that you went through, is a good thing. Don't fret to much on the decisions made, just focus on the lessons learned."
*Shaking her head, Ellie stood up.* "I'm good with heading back. I really can't think of anything here that I need."

She tapped briefly on a data pad to pull up the current status of the planet's orbital lanes. It wasn't always the most up to date, but it worked well enough most of the time.-Aya The majority of it, yes. It seems a small task force had been dispatched from it a while back & hasn't yet returned. Torin nods, clearly pleased with the news that Karr's fleet is still standing watch over Manda'yaim, and steeples his fingers together beneath his chin as he says, "Well then, it seems that our core worlds are well defended for the moment. With the measures they have planned to see that Ordo's fleet is refitted and repaired, and the plan to see that Concord Dawn is provided with a fleet of it's own, Torin feels that, overall, the Mando'ade are adequately appointed where orbital defenses are concerned; though how well they all might be able to operate in concert should the need arise remains a question that it would be best to answer prior to finding themselves in a situation where doing so was called for. In light of the latter thought, and what Aya had said about the need for additional materials for their shipyards, Torin suggests, It might be worth considering conducting a few raids, focusing on the acquisition of additional materials and resources for shipbuilding. Explaining, in as much as his terse way of expressing himself allows, his reasoning, Torin adds, It would also provide opportunities for the clans to work together, learn more of one another, and strengthen the ties between us all." *Ellie gave Lorcan a small smile.* "Nobody's a perfect parent. The fact that they're both alive, after all that you went through, is a good thing. Don't fret to much on the decisions made, just focus on the lessons learned." *Shaking her head, Ellie stood up.* "I'm good with heading back. I really can't think of anything here that I need." Lorcan grins, cheerfully agreeing with Ellie, "I like the way you think! Playfully elbowing Raine in the ribs, he asks, What do you think, kiddo? Fret less about what mistakes were made and who made 'em, and focus on learning from 'em sound good to you too? Acknowledging his own role in the most recent mishap, Lorcan lifts a finger and says, First thing we'll need to do in light of what we've learned is to come up with a plan for what we all do if we get separated again, right? I should have put one in place before, you know, he waves a hand to indicate the whole leaving Raine behind at the orphanage situation, all that stuff we just went through. Waving the whole subject aside when he sees Eimhin yawning while his head repeatedly dips towards the tabletop, Lorcan says, Anyway, looks like we should head for home before someone falls asleep on the table here."
After settling their tab, Lorcan leads the group outside to where his speeder is parked, and after everyone has piled in, pilots them to Norg Bral. . .

Aya thinks over his suggestion for a few moments. With the break down of the Alliance, few of the worlds near them had any sort of outside help they could rely on. While some of her reports indicated First Order activity of a wide net of planets, there was no solid proof to any of the reports. Just hearsay & rumor. From a ground level view, it seemed as if the Order had merely crushed the Alliance for the sake of destruction, leaving the ashes to fall where they may.
On one hand, it meant operating in the dark, without any solid intel on just what the potential targets would be able to bring to bear. On the other, it meant a target rich environment full of independent star systems, rogue warlords & pirate kings. Which had long been the purview of the Southern reaches of the galaxy. It was a situation that was surprisingly comfortable. After a few moment she nods.
-Aya Very well. But I want this kept quiet. I don't want our nation to be branded as pirates & looters feasting right after the fall. I want no more than five targets. Teams should be volunteer only & kept small.

Torin nods, grunting an affirmative sounding grunt to convey that he understands and accepts Aya's conditions, which he finds both reasonable and in line with his own thinking, and then says, "I'll start considering potential targets, and make some inquiries to determine how many volunteers would be on board then. Once those matters have been settled, I'll let you know what the objectives are, and the teams that will be tasked with achieving them, Mand'alor. If there is nothing further for now, he concludes, I'll get started at once."

On any other planet, the arrival of a mandalorian in full bekar'gam would have caused at least a stir. On mandalore, and especially in the Oyu'baat, barely anyone took visible notice. That's not to say they hadn't noticed him. Dral was sure that they had. But he was just another Mandalorian entering the bar on a regular day. Dral walked up to the bar, removing his buy'ce halfway across the room and clipping it to his utility belt. As he reached the bar, he sat down on a barstool and ordered a pint of net'gal from the mando standing behind the bar. After taking a long drink from the pint, he sighed in appreciation and addressed the man again. "Ner vod, who do i talk to about land acquisition?"
