The heavy transports continued on their way in towards Thyferra. Reyn, however, had his reverie interrupted by the alert chimes, a fraction of a second before whole swathes of ships emerged from hyperspace. He was about to bark for a report, but the report came in anyway. Looks like almost three entire fleets, though the rear one is far less armed. The red Beviin-class cruiser was outnumbered by a large degree, and her escorts were not equipped for punching it out with capital class vessels. Reyn nodded to the vessel's Captain, and went to the comm to answer for the fleet. ::Prime Minister Starmane, this is Reyn of House Australis. You're a long way from Corellia, which is I assume why you've brought such a large and well armed escort with you.::Reyn cut off the comm and looked to the fleet controller. Hold formation for now but tell the transports to continue. Let's not provoke them too much, but let's keep working for now. Then he reactivated the comm, having covered the pause just enough to minimise the interruption to his conversation with the Prime Minister. His own ships remained at the ready, but didn't raise shields, power weapons, or launch fighters. They remained in their position, overseeing the transports.::What can the Vegemite Jedi Enclave do for you?::If they thought Reyns one cruiser, a handful of pickets and some empty transports was an invasion force, they didn't want to see what a real one looked like. Reyn figured these Corellians were jumpy and he didn't want to upset them. Aruetii always misunderstood Mando'ade, he wasn't here for a scrap.Marcus Starmane [RETIRED]

The tour of the Coalition had been going well thus far. The people of the planets that Salvor and the Prime Minister had visited had broadly been enthusiastic. Of course they often had concerns, ranging from minor local concerns to broader anxieties such as the existential threat the Empire posed. The display of the 1st and 10th Fleet certainly helped assuage such fears as a symbol of the Coalition's increasing military strength. There hadn't really been any major surprises on the trip. Until now that is.
The fleet sitting in orbit of Thyferra was certainly not invited. He was incensed, was this an invasion? It was hard to see the appearance of an unidentified war fleet as anything else. His fist unconsciously formed a fist by his side as he studied the images before him on the holotable. After a few moments he replied to the prime minister.
"I was not, Prime Minister," he said, though he was well aware it was a rhetorical question. The Coalition was persistently in a precarious position, the Empire was far stronger than them and so the Coalition was naturally always warry of threats to its security. Indeed, as more and more of the galaxy fell to the various despotic forces roaming about, the Coalition stood out as the closest thing in the galaxy to a bastion of hope and freedom. They could not afford to cede ground, least of all Thyferra. He had worked hard for the liberation and empowerment of the long oppressed and exploited people of Thyferra. When that was under threat, he would not rest. He awaited the response of this invasion fleet and hoped they would withdraw, though he knew that was likely wishful thinking to say the least.
Soon they replied, identifying themselves as the forces of House Australis and the 'Vegemite Jedi Enclave'. For now, he kept his mouth shut waiting to see how the Prime Minister responded. This was his home, he was loyal to Starmane but his foremost allegiance was to the people of Thyferra who he would never abandon.

What the Australis forces had initially mistaken as abandonment, was merely a lapse in preparedness by the local defence forces. Crews aboard the Golan III stations began taking their positions and bringing the station shields online. The local garrison meanwhile, prepared to meet any armed forces, while allowing any civilians to pass through and conduct businesses and trade with the Bacta traders.
Marcus, meanwhile, watched the display and studied it as he awaited the reply from the unknown force. A reply which came through not too long after his initial message. As Marcus recalled, Clan Australis were Mandalorians, even if they identified themselves as the Vegemite Jedi Enclave. It was an odd name, but the Prime Minister did not give it too much second thought. He gave a reassuring look to Salvor, before responding And you're a long way from Mandalore, Reyn of House Australis... As for what you can do, I would highly suggest you start by stating your intentions here...

Aruetii always misunderstood Mando'ade, Reyn wasn't here for a scrap. These Corellians seemed jumpy as all hell. He saw on the main holodisplay the local Golan stations had begun powering up. He wasn't worried about the derelict orbital stations in particular; if the Corellian Confederation tried to use them in anger, they would find Clan Australis slicing backdoors in the software of the Golan stations that Clan Australis had installed, and might find it hard to fire on Clan Australis ships with them. Not that the Corellians needed the stations with the three battle fleets and the rest of the planetary defences they'd arrayed before Reyn's task force. They'd recognized the Australis name, which was probably both good and bad. ::We have no association with the Mandalorian Assembly or Mandalore, Prime Minister. As for our intentions, we're here to check on our significant investments in this system and ensure the security of our holdings here.
And your intentions?::I'm not the one with shields up, burc'ya, Reyn thought. It's not me who should be explaining intentions. After all, a quick scan would reveal the six transports were empty, and anyone with eyes would see that the handful of ships in Reyn's force were hardly enough to wage war. Marcus examined the holodisplay. While the Australis force was small, he had learnt many years ago to never underestimate the strength of Mandalorians, no matter how few there were. But, given the situation, the Coalition well outnumbered the Australis forces Fleet Admiral, scan their forces, and make sure they are not transporting anything illegal and confirm their numbers...
As you wish Prime Minister... Acaanah set off to a nearby station and began overseeing the scanning of the Mandalorian vessels. Confirming their numbers and their cargo, or lack thereof in some cases. He activated his comm link once more While you may have no association with Mandalore, many that serve within this fleet have association with Thyferra. We are not the interlopers here, Reyn of House Australis. Our intentions are our own. If you are, as you say, merely here to check upon an investment, then we have no quarrel. So long as such investments have been run and managed within Coalition guidelines, we shall part ways once your business is concluded... I have only a couple final points to bring up. The first is merely some advice: do not assume familiarity with Coalition Officials that does not exist. The second is a point of business. Since I assume your investments greatly predate Thyferra's inclusion into the Coalition, you should be aware that a Reparations Tax will be deducted from any profits that have come about from your investment. Such funds are handled directly by the Thyferran government and dispersed to its people as recompense for years of exploitation by offworlders... The Reparations Tax had been an agreement set up when Thyferra had joined the Coalition. Salvor Argon had not budged from the point, and Marcus had seen no reason to fight the man over the matter. It was fair after all, and the Coalition was being equally affected by it the same as anyone else. The 1st and 10th Fleet continued to move closer to Thyferra, keeping themselves between the Mandalorian vessels and the 1st Medical Fleet. Transports started departing for the surface to re-stock on Bacta supplies and prepare for the Thyferran leg of the Coalition Worlds Tour. Xozhixi would play host to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Coalition for a short time. Marcus intended to re-affirm the Coalitions commitment to Thyferra

They're scanning us. Finally. The captain added that last with a little sarcasm. Though the enemy clearly outnumbered and outmatched them, he was surprised the scans hadn't come immediately. Reyn nodded his assent and turned back to the comm. ::We appreciate the advice, Prime Minister. Whatever the tax comes out as, round ours up to thirty percent, and put the remainder into a fund for the Thyferran Defence Corps.
As a gesture, we'd be happy to provide some advice on improving the defences for this world if the Corellian Coalition wants to protect it, and support said defence financially. After all, we want to protect our own interests here too, not exploit the locals.:: Too much, Reyn didn't add, that wouldn't have been polite or clever. The Vegemites' offer wasn't too altruistic really, the profits from bacta were strong enough that they could afford the thirty percent and then some, and it paid to be generous when making new friends. And the Corellians were offering to keep the Vegemite Jedi's assets here secure for them, so the Vegemites were happy to pay their way. Those six transports would load up with bacta for offworld sale at a decent markup, especially in the outer rim. And no one with a brain raided Mando convoys. Reyn figured the Corellians weren't going to be any trouble. Though he'd be happy to keep talking as long as was necessary. Jaw, jaw, was better than war, war, as a famous ancient mando was alleged to have said. Marcus Starmane [RETIRED] Salvor Argon

Fully loaded with Bacta from their trip to Thyferra, the Australis freighters all made for space and the escorts formed up with them, moving away from Thyferra. Led by the Red Rocket, Reyn's flagship, the fleet jumped to hyperspace, bound for the Hydian Way; and Mandalore.

When the comm response from the Red Rocket came through, Marcus nodded with some relief. Mandalorians were sometimes fools that charged into battle and knew only violence as a solution. Thankfully reason had won out and there would be no need for bloodshed, today at least. Given the tax was already 25%, the additional 5% was not perhaps as extra an addition as Reyn might have thought. But it was not a matter Marcus was going to raiseWe're more than capable of handling Thyferra's defence ourselves Mando, but your offer is duly noted...While confrontation had been avoided today, Marcus could not help but wonder if that would always be the case. For now, he could relax and begin the intended visit to the surface with Minister Salvor Argon, in hopes of reassuring the people of Thyferra that the Coalition remained steadfast and strong in it's commitment to the Thyferran people. No doubt this situation and the Mandalorian's payment of their tax would be a useful case toward that end.
None-the-less, Fleet Admiral Acaanah ensured that the Mandalorian ships were monitored throughout their stay, with scans supporting their claims that their vessels were there to collect Bacta and were not carrying any illegal goods. She did not breath easily until the last ship made the jump to hyperspace and exited the system. These Mandalorians may be peaceful or neutral for the time being, but their allegiance could be brought by anyone with deep enough pockets. And the First Order had some of the deepest pockets out there

There was certainly something off about this man. He was feigning innocence and presenting himself a benign and charitable, but the old senator saw through it. He was up to something, it just wasn't clear what. Fortunately, the Prime Minister seemed to see through it as well and was not prepared to let this 'Vegemite Enclave' walk all over them. Indeed, he ensured that the Reparations tax was levied on these Mandalorians, a tax that Salvor had argued hard for when Thyferra joined the Coalition. The proceeds of that tax had been going mainly towards important social services for the impoverished and disadvantaged people on Thyferra. Reyn offered to round it up slightly to 30% with the remainder to go towards the Defence Corps. Typical of those types of people, weapons and ships were viewed as the most important investments. Those who played the great political games of the galaxy always prioritised such things over the needs of the people, who were seldom tended to unless it was in the powerful actors of the galaxy's interests to endear the poor. Salvor was pained to see the bacta once again being taken by offworlders, no doubt to be sold at extortionate prices for profit. "I do not trust them, Prime Minister," he said, though it hardly seemed necessary as Marcus Starmane [RETIRED] no doubt could sense his feelings already. "We should remain wary. House Australis has long had interests in this region. I expect they will return, and next time we may not be here. I would suggest Admiral Acaanah alert the rest of the Navy to this development, have them remain on alert for any more of these Mandalorians," he suggested. "Perhaps on the conclusion of our tour I will pay a visit to the other Mandalorian Clans," he added. They needed all the friends they could get. "For now though, the people await," he smiled.

A large convoy of massive bulk transports exits hyperspace in the Thyferra system under a small fighter escort of two squadrons. Each vessel broadcasts its IFF identifying it as belonging to the Vegemite Enclave. No capital warships accompany the convoy, as the agreement between The Vegemite Enclave and the Corellian Coalition allows the Enclave and Clan Australis to conduct their business in the system upon payment of taxation, with proceeds to go to the locals. The Mandalorians had no argument with this deal, and would keep their end of the bargain. Indeed, payments were made on time as each convoy arrived in system. Streams of smaller freighters made runs down to Thyferra's surface from the big bulk transport vessels. They utilize Clan Australis warehouses and landing pads on the ground to handle the cargo runs, located outside the main cities. The freighters returned to space loaded full of Bacta. The bacta is intended for use by the Vegemite Enclave, and for sale in the Outer Rim, where such things were harder to come by, and thus fetched a better price, protected by Mandalorian salesbeings.

Marcus had already guessed that the conclusion of the dealings with the Mandalorians was not going to be ideal, but the pained expression of Salvor served to confirm that fact. While he understood the Senator's objections, he also knew that a great many trade deals had been agreed upon before Thyferra had joined the Coalition. And cancelling all such contracts would not reflect well upon themYou would indeed do well to distrust these Mandalorians. Their disassociation from the Assembly means they did something to be removed from it, did not see eye to eye with it, or they are currently working for a third party. What ever the case may be, I will definitely begin looking into what Naval resources we have that can be reassigned to Thyferra to strengthen its defences... While the Golan Defense Platforms were sturdy, a fleet would add an additional layer of defense and allow for some versatility. It was not a matter that had required a great deal of thought before. After all, the First Order had contented themselves with using intermediaries to obtain Bacta, while other groups had decided not to try challenge the planet's decision to ally with the Coalition. After all, any attack would only serve to drive Thyferra closer to the CoalitionAs you said though, the people do await. Let us head to the hangar bay and catch a transport to the surface...

Another of the regular Vegemite Enclave convoys arrives in Thyferra's orbit. Twelve large bulk transports, escorted by four of the new Myrkr-Class escorts, exit hyperspace. The escorts carry between them two squadrons of fighters. The four support ships are named Vornskr, Krayt, Acklay and Sando; continuing the tradition of naming Myrkr-Class ships for galactic beasties.
The four escorts ride herd on the formation of heavy transports while those massive unarmed cargo vessels begin disgorging freighters and lighter cargo ships to the surface of Thyferra.

As was standard practice for vessels travelling to and from Thyferra, especially those operating upon older contracts, the Vegemite Enclave transports were marked and scanned to ensure they were arriving empty and without any illegal or undeclared items. Not only did Thyferra have their own local laws and regulations, but being members of the Coalition also meant they were party to certain Coalition regulations regarding highly illegal and unethical weapons. Something the Thyferran's were happy to adopt. Bacta was a commonly used health care solution across the galaxy, so ensuring it's proliferation free of potential sabotage was important

The Vegemite ships being scanned would not show up too much contraband for the Coalition to discover. It was, after all, expected that the Corellians would take an interest in the cargo ships. Smuggling nothing would have looked suspicious, so the Mandalorians were careful to bring in some weapons and other armaments among the thousands of tonnes of commercial cargo they brought in to trade with the Vratix or set up their own ground facilities. Nothing too alarming, or large in scale, but something for the scans to find.
The real smuggling was done in the shielded smuggling compartments of a handful of the smaller freighters that made runs to and from the surface. This was how the Vegemites brought in the heavier weapons and explosives for their ground garrisons without notice. Artfully, some heavier modules were concealed as food or waste disposal processing units, some of which were larger than main battle tanks. Explosives were concealed inside power generation units. No scan would pick up the contraband being smuggled in this way, one would need a physical inspection and closer look to find the true hidden gems.
By continuing to show any watchers what they expected to see; some light smuggling, the Vegemites hoped to conceal the bulk of their operation from the Coalition's watchful eyes.

The Polith System and Thyferra were protected by the Coalition Navy's Second Fleet commanded by the experienced Mon Calamari Admiral Yeckrol Kikk from his Nebula Class Star Destroyer Prometheus. The fleet had been on alert since the arrival of the Mandalorian Clan Australis, as the governments of both Thyferra and the Coalition had been warry of their presence. By now the various commanders of the Coalition Navy had become aware of the actions of the Mandalorian's over Corellia and Thyferra, particularly their apparent dislike of the Coalition's regulations. C-Sec was also aware of a growing presence of their forces on the surface and so the order had been given to scan all incoming ships for contraband.
When the large convoy exited hyperspace the Majestic Class Cruiser Trajan moved in to scan, flanked by the two DP40 Frigates Snipe and Sirius. It didn't take long for scanners to detect illegal weapons on board. While not particularly alarming, it gave them probable cause to inspect the convoy more thoroughly.
"Australis vessels, this is the Corellian Naval warship Trajan. We have detected contraband on board and under Section 12 of the Naval Powers Act we have cause to search your vessels. Heave to and prepare to be boarded."
As the Trajan and it's escorts began to close the distance to the convoy the fleet's two MC-35 Fast Frigates, Dechaineux and Rankin approached and took position either side of the convoy. The rest of the fleet was watching closely, ready to respond if need be.

The Corellian Coalition's 1st and 10th Fleets appeared from Hyperspace above Thyferra once more. Fleet Admirals Thomas Carter and Acaanah Vishreen stood on the bridges of their respective flag ships, reviewing the orbit of Thyferra. The Thyferran Parliament had requested the Coalition's aide in dealing with the Mandalorian forces calling themselves the Vegemite Enclave. Reports had been submitted showing that the Enclave had conducted illegal construction upon Thyferra, and that they had situated foreign armed forces within Thyferra's borders. Actions which had not been sanctioned by the independent Parliament of Thyferra. the local garrisons were already being deployed to the sites ground side that had been identified as being used by Vegemite Enclave forces. Artillery and ground vehicles were being set up and prepared to prevent any ground incursion from these bases that were being paraded about as warehouses.
For the time being, the 1st and 10th Fleet had orders to defer to the orders of the 2nd Fleet. While it seemed a particularly strong reaction, neither Marcus or Salvor believed this operation would be simple and suspected the Enclave would pursue aggressive actions. If that did happen, the Coalition would be ready

Such things were better handled by the Herald than himself. The Trajan took a moment to respond. They were a little taken aback by the concept of them having to 'sign' laws to be effected by them. Were they unfamiliar with the concept of what a law was? A few of the bridge crew cracked jokes about which laws they wouldn't have signed and what they'd have done with such newfound freedom. The stern captain however, did not approve of their jokes and quickly returned to business. Thyferra is a member of the Coalition, therefore whilst on Thyferra or in its sovereign territory the laws of both Thyferra and the Coalition apply where applicable. It does not matter if you did not sign it, you have entered our space and are therefor subject to our laws for the duration of your visit. If you believe your rights as a sentient being have been violated you may file a complaint with the Sentient Rights Commission on Corellia. Such quantities of weapons qualifies for inspection. Your offer to open up your facilities will be relayed to the Thyferran Department of the Interior. The order to heave to stands. Prepare to be boarded. With that, the Trajan launched boarding shuttles to several of the freighters. Squads of about ten men inspected each of the freighters, discovering plenty of personal weapons, ammunition, E-Web cannons, and various other supplies for a potential army. It was alarming to the security forces. No doubt someone higher up the command chain would soon be getting involved...

The ping from Kaine caused a flurry of activity within the Rock where Sinistra was pulled from a closed door meeting to be informed that she was needed at once. It was only after she had been quickly briefed and informed that she was the Herald of the VE that she made a quick series of holo-calls that eventually netted her the information she needed to contact the Corellian Coalition's Prime Minister directly.
While her staff were working on the series of diplomatic calls that would allow her to speak to the Prime Minister, she opened a channel to the VE ships and relayed a message that the crews were cooperate with all boarding parties and give them access to whatever they wanted to look into.
Once she was ready, Sinistra signaled to her staff to make the call to the Prime Minister of the Corellian Coalition.
She wore a set of lavender and grey embroidered robes that hung from her frame in drips of crepe and silk. She stood with her hands folded neatly in front of her and bowed slightly to those receiving the transmission before she looked to Salvor Argon.
Good afternoon Prime Minister Argon. My name is Gaysa Kedara of the Vegemite Enclave. Forgive my intrusion but there is a situation unfolding over Thyferra that has the potential to spin out of control. I am hoping that between us, cooler heads may prevail and we may find a mutually beneficial solution. I trust you have been briefed on the matter I am referring to?
There was a calm and easy demeanor to her, and she waited for him to accept her introduction and her offer of a diplomatic resolution. She did not think they would be pushing for a direct conflict, since she was being asked to intercede.

She stood with her hands folded neatly in front of her and bowed slightly to those receiving the transmission before she looked to Salvor Argon.Good afternoon Prime Minister Argon. My name is Gaysa Kedara of the Vegemite Enclave. Forgive my intrusion but there is a situation unfolding over Thyferra that has the potential to spin out of control. I am hoping that between us, cooler heads may prevail and we may find a mutually beneficial solution. I trust you have been briefed on the matter I am referring to?There was a calm and easy demeanor to her, and she waited for him to accept her introduction and her offer of a diplomatic resolution. She did not think they would be pushing for a direct conflict, since she was being asked to intercede. The Prime Minister had been monitoring events quite closely from his home in Xucphra City. It therefor took much less time than it usually would for the various diplomatic staff of both parties to reach the newly elected Prime Minister himself. A few moments later Marcus Starmane, now Deputy Prime Minister, joined remotely from Corellia. Transitioning in the middle of a diplomatic crisis was not ideal, however fortunately the two men had a good relationship and worked well together allowing it to be much smoother than it could have been. When the opulently dressed woman appeared on his viewscreen he knew who he was speaking to. His staff had done all the necessary research since the appearance of this faction on Thyferra, and had confirmed who was talking to the Prime Minister before patching him through. She was a Sith. Hardly the most reassuring of people to be adressing, though he hoped she would be more level headed than the bombastic Mandalorian's from Clan Australis. "Good evening, Ms Kedara. Is that how you wished to be referred?" he inquired politely. "I have been watching the situation closely indeed," he nodded, his hands clasped together as he sat back in his chair. "Thyferra is an integral part of the Coalition, so naturally as Prime Minister I have been fully briefed. Not to mention, as I am sure you are aware, this planet is my home, so I am even more invested in ensuring we find a peaceful solution. I am quite pleased that cooler heads seem to be prevailing now. We do not want conflict. Our only interest is defending the sovereignty of Thyferra and the Coalition." He spoke very calmly as he made it clear where he stood.
