MandalArms' second foray into the starfighter market is a more risque project compared to the solid Kyr'am Arpat. The Interceptor is built for speed and agility, with thruster arrays allowing the craft to orient in directions other than the direction of travel, and even fire backwards. This is a huge advantage in starfighter combat, where getting into firing position is paramount to success and survival. Her sublight engines and thrusters make up the bulk of the craft's X-shaped frame, with a cockpit in front and main weapon slung just below. The hyperdrive is located between the main sublight engines at the stern of the craft.
The main weapon is a chin mounted Ion Cannon, suited for disabling shots to bring down a fleeing enemy craft. Married to the Interceptor's movement abilities in space and atmosphere, this is designed to be a tough craft to get away from. Lacking power or space for any other weapons, heavy armour, or defensive systems, this is not a heavily armed craft, and is extremely vulnerable to damage. Because of the high risk of the craft being destroyed, the Interceptor's cockpit can be ejected from a dying fighter, allowing pilots to have a chance to fight another day.

This name seems too close, if not exact, to the Fury-class Interceptor of the resurgent Sith Empire of SWTOR. We do have a submission for it, located here. Perhaps a different name is in order for this submission?

Not to mention the Fury-class Starfighter in which the only difference is starfighter and interceptor in the name.

Reopening due to statement made hereThe Databank Operators desire to keep the weapon, known as the HR-IO4 Ion Railgun, reserved for submissions that are Corvette class and up. As such, this submission is being reopened to change its weapon. Kaine Australis, what do you wish to change it to?

I think best to just go with an ion cannon.

Seems like a solid fix to the issue. Second (or technically fourth) approval issued.
