The Mandalorian designed light carrier nicknamed the Fortress was designed to be an effective quick strike and raiding craft. The sublight drive and hyperdrive draw their power from twin reactors, which allow for a dangerous but useful direct injection, allowing the vessel to easily shunt power from engines to shields to weapons where needed, making it extremely versatile.
A light carrier that combines speed, maneuverability, defence and efficiency, allowing for fast transport of two full squadrons to any combat zone. The ship's internal space is at a premium, with most berths assigned to maintenance personnel for the flight wings, the ship itself having a small crew, with many functions automated. With a bow and stern aperture, the carrier can quickly recover or launch her craft, making for a quick strike capability, or quick retreat should that be required. A carrier first and foremost, the ship's superstructure is designed around the central hangar.
Unlike many modern designs, she has significant retro thrusters mounted forward to aid in agility for such a large and heavy vessel. Her weapons loadout, while light, allows her to engage enemies in any direction. Efficient in her simplicity, the fortress (Kranak in Mando'a) is a workhorse carrier suited to raiding, piracy, or military operations. The ship has weapon mounts at the two forward and rear prongs, though they are light weapons better suited to defence than engaging enemy capital ships. Should the carrier be forced to engage other capital ships, she must resort to her port and starboard heavy torpedo tubes.
