Kaine Australis had long admired Mandalorian designed and aesthetic vessels. He had often had a model of Mandal Hypernautics or MandalMotors ships on display in his workspace wherever his career took him.

MandalArms' Nynir-class light cruiser is designed to be a potent striking force, especially in groups. She has point defence weapons designed to wreck enemy starfighters, assisted by her comparatively narrow profile. She is armed with some unorthodox weaponry including ion railguns for point defence, and an array of gravity bomb launchers to augment the turbolasers and primary mass driver cannon.

The vessel contains a small hangar that can berth 24 fightercraft, and a cargo area allows for up to 100 troops to berth aboard, and store their gear. A minor barracks with sleeping quarters as well as a small armoury allow the craft to be a mobile base far away from home.
