Tales From the Blackguard #1: A Raid Abandoned
Location: Anzat's Orbit, Skip Seven: The Nexus, Centares.
Timeframe: Previously undocumented event
While the primary focus of the Blackguard has been on the Black Emperor and his grand schemes for the rest of the galaxy and his ultimate ascension to power, these are a collection of tales from other members of the Blackguard Imperium. Tales and stories meant to string everything together or fill in the blanks of dropped or failed SL attempts.
*In Anzat's orbit, Darth Akrak assembled a small raiding fleet at the behest of the Sith'ari. The main goal was to strike out against the Jedi Lords, raiding the vital world of Lianna for a number of reasons. Primarily to disrupt the fledgling Lords industrial capacity, with a secondary objective of capturing technological plans for a thought lost spacecraft. And finally a tertiary objective of shifting the Blackguard's focus from its well known hatred of the First Order and place the Jedi and those that would impede the Sith'ari's grand designs back at the top of their hit list.
While the plan was sound and everything was in place to execute the impending raid against the Jedi Lords, the mysterious and shadowy Organization had managed to catch wind of this operation through various means of intelligence gathering. Despite seeing all Force Users as a blight upon the galaxy and a grave threat to those that were not, The Illusionist knew that the Blackguard Imperium needed to be slowed in its growth of power and influence, allowing the Organization greater abilities to move about and remain relatively undetected. Having just recruited a rowdy pirate band to his cause, they were outfitted with the Organization's technology and the pirate fleet was replenished. Assigning a target, the pirates, under the leadership of Supreme Wolfgang, were sent to the Centares System, where they would lie in wait with interdiction ships to pull the unsuspecting Sith raiding fleet out of hyperspace before arriving at their intended destination...

The Anzat Overseer was rather annoying, with his attempted pleasantries. He was here to do one thing; collect the raiding fleet and head to Lianna. He wasn't here to make nice with the local Overseer. Rolling his eyes behind his helm, as the Overseer fell into step alongside him, he continued to speak. Continuing to ignore him, the armored Sith pushed past several officers and technicians while he made his way to where the Reave-Class Picket Cruiser was berthed. As he came to the airlock that would lead him onto the vessel, he called back to the Overseer."I am not here to engage in idle chit chat, Nismok. I'm here to carry out the orders of the Sith'ari. Go. Run your little world. And be ready for my return."And then he passed through the airlock, sealing behind him. This served to cut off any sort of response from the Anzat Overseer. Minutes later, the armored Sith was walking onto the bridge of the ship."Commander, get us underway. Have the fleet disengage from the station and move to our jump point. The Jedi Lords have gotten too comfortable and need to be shown that the Imperium is still the larger threat. Upon our arrival, we need to get to the surface quickly. I want all ships to engage whatever defenses they may possess to distract them from my true purpose. Failure isn't an option and we don't retreat. The Necrosis will be standing by, ready to aid in our extraction if things get too hot."Several acknowledgement rang out as the Vigilance disengaged from the FireStar and moved away from Anzat with the other four ships of the fleet. Within ten minutes, all five ships were in formation, clear of Anzat's naturally formed gravity well. And then they disappeared from sight as they accelerated to hyperspace. Blackguard Imperium Raiding Fleet - Hyperspace Transition Reave-Class Picket Cruiser - VigilanceThe darkly clad armored figure of Darth Akrak stood on the bridge of the Vigilance, hands clasped behind his back, eyes closed beneath his armored helm. Lost in the current of the Force, the Sith was currently feeling for any disruptions or disturbances. At the moment, there were neither. However, there was a nagging sensation in the back of his mind. It made him feel as though not everything was as it seemed. Something was off about this whole move. Though he couldn't quite give a substantial reason as to why. The Jedi Lords were his target. Though hardly to the degree that he wished it would be, though he had come to respect the Sith'ari's judgement and intuition when it came to stealing relics from the past. He usually had a plan for it. And it was usually beneficial to the Imperium. Though the Sith'ari's health as of late was something of a concern. Less public appearances, more holographic interactions and more involvement of both the Empress and the Jen'ari. Something was off with the Zabrak Emperor, though there wasn't enough information to piece together precisely what. At least the whole vendetta against the First Order had been pushed to the wayside. While Akrak did dislike the Imperials, they weren't the true enemy. The Jedi and all those who followed the callings of the light were. And now they were finally making an effort to quell them."Milord, ETA to Lianna, thirty minutes."The officer's update interrupted Akrak's silent musings. With a sigh, he slowly opened his eyes, the swirling miasma of hyperspace before him."Understood. Have all stations at the ready. This is meant to be a rapid strike, not a battle of attrition. We're in and out as quickly as possible. I want to inflict maximum damage with the resources we have on hand with little collateral damage to our own ships. I also-"The armored human paused as he felt a tremor within the Force. With a smirk and a snort, he now knew what that nagging inclination had been. They weren't going to make it to Lianna...at least not with the raiding fleet intact...

Skip Seven: The Nexus - Port Town
Having recruited the Firefist pirate band, this gave The Organization a unique resource. Expendable enforcers that weren't directly associated with The Organization. Supreme Zeckkar Wolfgang was the only legitimate member of The Organization. His band of pirates were only peripherally related to the cause. Which allowed The Illusionist to become more aggressive in certain approaches. Now direct action could be taken against The Organization's enemies, while still maintaining deniability. Seated within his office in The Nexus, The Illusionist spoke to the Tof pirate via hologram.
"Our sources have confirmed that the Blackguard Imperium is intending to launch a raid against the Jedi Lord's world of Lianna. That cannot be allowed to happen. Given your hatred of the Sith and your lust for vengeance due to the death of your brother at the hands of the Sith of the Blackguard, you were a natural choice for this assignment. I've taken the liberty of replenishing and repairing your current fleet, with a few additions."
Taking a swig of scotch from the glass in his right hand, he continued.
"First, several legions of Organization battle droids have been added to your ship's ground complement to both aid your men and reduce the number of casualties in a firefight. They should serve you well. Use them as you see fit. Second, I have arranged for a special operations team be added to your flagship's roster. They are to be my eyes and ears while you are out on assignment. They are placed under your direct command and will only take orders from you. Again, use them as you see fit. And finally, I have loaned you a modified Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer. It's been retrofitted with two gravity-well projectors for your next assignment. Which brings me to the next topic. Your assignment."
Rising to his feet, the Illusionist waved his hand and an image of a temperate looking world appeared.
"The Centares System. Specifically, the planet of Centares itself. I want you to take your fleet and ready an ambush for the Blackguard Imperium. The specifics of the engagement are up to you, though I will be very clear about my one stipulation. If you get the opportunity to seize any of their vessels, or commanding officers, bring them in intact. Destroyed ships and dead officers do not give us enough intel. Bring me anything useful and you and your men will be well compensated. Am I clear?"

Deadwood - Firefist Pirate Flagship - Skip Seven.
The Illusionist had appeared on the bridge of the ship in his usual fashion, which hardly surprised Wolfgang. But having been given the opportunity to strike out at the Sith, that was a beautiful thing. Still mourning the loss of his brother, and itching for a chance to make the Sith pay for their treachery, this was one of those opportunities the Illusionist had mentioned when they first met. And he was now making good on his word.
"I agree t' yer conditions. We'll deal wit' the Sith. 'n if thar happens t' be anythin' useful t' bring back, ye'll be the first t' 'ave it."
Without waiting for a response, Wolfgang motioned for his Comms Operator to cut the channel. Long winded and somewhat verbose explanations weren't his thing. Fighting. pillaging and raiding were more in line with his skillset. And with his fleet back up to full strength, several complements of shiny new droids and an additional ship to trap the Sith, he was more eager to get underway.
"Get us clear o' the asteroids 'n jump us t' Centares. I wants t' spill a wee bit o' Sith blood today."
Shortly after the order was given, the entire Firefist fleet made its way out of the asteroid field and, once clear, jumped to hyperspace.
Centares System. Centares Orbit.
A few hours after departing Skip Seven, the Firefist Pirate fleet emerged from hyperspace above the temperate world of Centares. Normally a world such as this would serve for a good raid, however there was a much better target in the Supreme's sights. The Sith. And with the information given to him from The Illusionist, he was hellbound and determined to claim this one's head.
"Get us into position. I wants the Deadwood at the head o' the fleet. 'ave the interdiction ship remain behind us wit' the Padeye 'n Skylark as escorts. Ready all pilots 'n be prepared t' engage the enemy! Today, we even the score!"
Cheers erupted from the bridge crew as his orders were carried out and the fleet positioned itself to intercept the Sith raiding fleet. Once the interdiction field was active, it would only be a matter of time....

Blackguard Imperium Raiding Fleet - Interrupted Hyperspace Transition - Location: Unknown
Like clockwork, the Vigilance shuddered and the entire raiding fleet decelerated back to normal space. Alarms rang out and the bridge staff ran about, trying to deduce the cause. Though Akrak already knew the cause. Glaring out the main viewport, a fleet was gathered. Five of the unknown vessels appeared to be of a similar appearance to sea faring vessels he had seen somewhere at one point in time. Most likely a history lesson from long ago, not that it mattered at this point in time.
"It would appear that our plans to raid Lianna are currently on hold. Commander, locate the source of the interdiction field. We need to destroy it if we are getting out of here. Launch all fighters and prepare for enemy engagement. If this fleet wants to stand in our way, we'll show them just how fearsome the Imperium can be! All ahead full! Fire at will!"
Though caught off guard, the Raiding Fleet was composed of small, agile cruisers, frigates and corvettes. And each of them was designed to deal out a significant amount of firepower, which is why these particular designs had been chosen for the raid. Even still, the large ship at the head of the enemy fleet looked formidable enough, and with the support of four smaller vessels, a Dauntless-Class Cruiser and a Victory-II-Class Star Destroyer, unless Akrak was able to neutralize the interdiction field keeping him and his ships here, the could very well be overpowered within minutes. It all depended on how the opposing fleet responded to his aggressive "line rush". After all, he was no naval commander. He could hold his own, in an engagement, sure, but long drawn out space battles were not his forte.

Firefist Pirate Fleet - Centares System, Centares High Orbit. The sudden appearance of the Sith fleet wasn't unexpected. The modified Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer that the Illusionist had loaned him, was doing the job it was designed to do. Even the amount of ships the Sith possessed wasn't really much of a surprise. Raiding fleets usually consisted of smaller, more nimble craft. What did surprise the old Tof pirate, however, was the fact that the enemy fleet managed to reorganize themselves and begin charging the pirate fleet arrayed before them. And aggressive opening strategy. And, if it were successful, a dangerous one. However, it was also a double-edged sword. While rushing the line could effectively catch his fleet off guard, the same could be said for the enemy fleet, if it wasn't prepared to deal with the return fire."A bold one!"Chuckled the Tof. The pirate in him could respect the tactic that was being attempted against him. However, the scorned brother in him, knew that he had to make this fight count, if he wanted to avenge his fallen brother."Launch all fighters 'n 'ave the Bloodhound 'n Mickpock begin anti-starfighter screenin'. Keep the Holystone in range o' the interdiction ship 'n get the Icebreaker up on our flank. We be pushin' back! All ahead flank!"As the Tof starfighters launched, two of the Royal Fortune-Class Light Clippers followed the waves of starfighters and began screening the enemy starfighters as they approached. The Dauntless-Class Heavy Cruiser kept itself within targeting range of the Gladiator in order to provide support if the need arose, while the Victory II-Class Star Destroyer pulled up on the Deadwood's flank, ready to add it's firepower into the mix. The Deadwood, however, was accelerating towards what could only be assumed as the enemy flagship, with the intent of capturing it and boarding it. With his brother slain at the hands of the Sith on Etti IV, it was personal for him. Which meant he wanted to face off the Sith Commander of this fleet in a one on one duel. And, if he managed to successfully disable the enemy flagship and board it, he'd be that much closer to his goal. But first, he had to disable the ship.

Blackguard Imperium Raiding Fleet - Orbital Engagement - Location: Unknown
"Milord, source of the interdiction field identified! Its emanating from that Gladiator-Class Star Destroyer!"
Announced the Vigilance's commanding officer to Akrak. Akrak scanned the engagement zone through the central viewport and allowed his senses to extend outwards as well, soaking up the fear, desperation, rage and aggression of the conflict surrounding him. Moments later, he spotted the ship, being escorted by a Dauntless-Class Heavy Cruiser.
"There. Converge on the Gladiator. Destroy it! Now!"
Akrak's raiding fleet consisted of smaller ships, with the Reave-Class Picket Cruiser being the largest at six hundred meters. While significantly faster than the enemy ships, the heavy firepower that was being brought up against him had the potential to decimate his fleet. At this point, there was no other options, though. Angered, the Sith Lord exhaled slowly and closed his eyes. Extending his perceptions outwards, he was seeking the out the minds of those on the bridge of the Gladiator. If he could manipulate the crew on the enemy ship long enough to buy his forces some time to gain the upper hand, perhaps he could escape this with his life.
The battle continued to rage, as the raiding fleet now began to mingle with the enemy fleet. Laser fire lanced out between the various ships, as starfighters wove back and forth. Orchestrated chaos with a clear lack of orchestrating. There was too much going on in such close proximity to each other for any other tactics aside from firing at whatever fired at you to work. While the raiding fleet continued to work in concert with each other as best as they could, it was clear that the attacking fleet was lacking the same kind of discipline. Their offense strategy started becoming every man for himself, which indicated pirate mentality. But that still didn't make the enemy any less dangerous.
