Hello community!
As we all know, Star Wars has many kinds of space stations for all kinds of purposes; small dockyards, defense platforms, civilian stations, etc. In recent times, Disney has produced this special kind of Imperial dockyard space station that has been seen in quite a few medias. The trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons shows this station at Var-Shaa being destroyed by the New Republic. A similar station is a munition depot in one of the missions of that game. In Battlefront II, we see several of these at the mission to Fondor.
Now this discussion is being brought up because our current meter limit on space stations is 3,000 meters. After speaking with my Databank Operators, Mike Frantz and Zion, about this, we came to the conclusion that this station is between 3,600 to 4,200 meters. Which goes over said limit. However, we have before allowed tech to bend the rules, namely if it is canon/legends. We have always believed in this ruling in order to make these technologies stand out. However, we can't just let ANYONE and EVERYONE build these with ease. It's a huge expense and our canon shipyards still need business after all.
So, I wanted to bring up this discussion to discuss caveats and factors that would make this acceptable for submission. For example, especially for smaller factions, I would put a ruling of "only one can be built over the designated capital of a small faction (small would need to be defined), especially if said faction has no direct access to a canon shipyard." Alternatively, it can be said that any faction can build this station, over their capital, but again it would be a faction without access to a shipyard world. And these canon locations range from Mandalore (which has one built over it as it is believed that MandalMotors had one) to the extensive Kuat and Rendili orbital stations. Further, as we know it can dock up to three Star Destroyers, we can go over rulings/suggestions of how to combat excessive construction. Things take time after all. No made-up shipyard can truly match Kuat or Fondor after all.
Now, on the subject of shipyards, we have always believed that canon businesses cannot be owned by anyone. But of course, we have our custom tech. People want facilities to build them in order to utilize them. Jedi Lords claimed Lianna for that matter. Resurgent Sith Conclave claimed Dromund Kaas (the shipyards at Kalakar). The Blackguard had claimed Sullust and Dromund Kaas prior. So, the way I view it, I feel there needs to be a facility that can help out with this. Of course, there needs to be limitations within reason.
So I open the floor for discussion!
