Regarding Energy Resistant Metals/Alloys
Rare and powerful materials (i.e. beskar, cortosis, etc.), due to their rarity and power, require good judgment on the part of the writer. Ideally, there should be an in-universe story or RP that can be linked back to as proof of obtaining the item, to prevent abuse. In the case of Player Characters (PCs) and certain named Non-Player Characters (NPCs), if it is reasonable that said character would have access to these rare metals (such as a Mandalorian with Beskar'gam or a PC having one or two small items of a rare material), this is understandable and some leeway is given. However, while this leniency is allowed in the case of individual characters and Named NPCs, the abuse of the suspension of disbelief to equip whole fighting forces or to build fleets of ships made of these materials will not be tolerated in Open RP. If someone is reported as being suspected to be abusing the leniency of this rule, the Whills shall determine the course of action and make a ruling on the item(s).
When it comes to RP about acquiring said materials, below is a list of the restricted materials and planetary locations where they can be found in the JvS Universe. While it is encouraged to write obtaining these restricted materials on the locations listed, members may also use the Journal of the Whills or Open Space threads as a substitute. Any location written in the JotW or Open Space threads must be a location that exists in Star Wars canon and is noted as having any of the listed materials below. In the case of beskar, it should only be acquired from Mandalore or Concordia, as well as requiring a legitimate Mandalorian Smith with the knowledge to work it. Mandalore and Concordia are the only locations on JvS that have beskar.
Regarding Monopolizing and/or Hoarding Rare Materials
When a planet that is designated as being rich in a rare metals/materials is under the influence of a character or faction, this does not mean that they can stop others from gaining access to the materials in question, at least not completely. There always should and will be ways of subverting their control of a resource whether it be by smuggling, stealth mining, piracy, blackmail, or bribing officials In-Character. The aforementioned options are not the only ways of getting around any closed-market practices, being only a few examples. Characters can use any means they think will be successful in attempting to bypass planetary governments' control on materials.
Remember: JvS is a cooperative roleplay website; so it may help to message whomever has influence over the location to which you want to gain access. Getting Out of Character approval, though not needed, may also help things go much more smoothly. You may even get involvement or interaction from member(s) whose characters have influence over or who are currently writing where the resource is located, potentially leading to a more interesting story.
