Designed as a patrol and escort vessel for the IRI, a Tenel Ka-class Frigate marries hapan engineering to the best technology the galaxy can offer. Where Mandalorian designs focus on firepower, the new IRI navy is designed around speed. All the vessels are sleek, and require a minimal crew complement, though they are as advanced as they come.
With two squadrons of fightercraft, one of these frigates is a challenge to almost any threat all by itself. Wings of these frigates can make for a deadly threat to any target, striking hard and fast with focused barrages of fire, maximizing their speed advantage to best effect. Doctrine is to pair these vessels with the larger Hapes-class Cruisers or the Imperium-class Destroyer in small but fast fleet groups.
