Description:
Designed by the Shipwrights Guild of the Bessuran Defense Fleet, the Lowrron-class Expeditionary Corvette is a ship designed for long-distance treks across the galaxy. Though it has a mostly droid crew, the Lowrron-class is designed to be commanded by one human or otherwise organic sentient captain. The Lowrron-class Expeditionary Corvette was named after wayfinder Lowrron, a famous figure in Bessuran culture, and the ship is meant for those of his ilk - the few wayfinders who explore nearby space, ensuring the safety and information upkeep demanded by the Bessuran Commonwealth.
As a minor and very much insignificant power in the galaxy, only boasting a single world and a handful of production colonies and space habitats to its name, the Bessuran Commonwealth has tried very hard for very long to keep themselves out of the sights of major powers. The bastard child of a distant and forgotten Republic colony and Mandalorian occupiers thousands of years ago, Bessura and its people have kept to themselves, with very few databases in the galaxy even including its system on the map. In order to stay aware and up to date, the Commonwealth uses a mixture of modified holonet receiver nodes and wayfinders, select individuals within the Defense Fleet and other key organizations trusted with the ongoing security and safety of the Commonwealth.
These special heroes are befitted with ships appropriate for their role. In the past, they often made due with ancient craft inherited from their ancestors, or ships which were intended as cruisers and other such larger craft. The Lowrron represents the first time the Bessuran Defense Fleet has dared to construct a ship purpose-built for this task, a strange happenstance given the prominence of wayfinders in their culture.
The expeditionary corvette is equipped with two light mass drivers and a ion-flak battery network - firing electronic-disrupting pulses in combination with traditional explosive flak shells. Though the Bessurans have access to turbolasers and associated technologies, their stores of tibanna gas and other blaster-essential resources are somewhat low, forcing them to rely on mass driver technology updated over the centuries. The two hard-points are modular, however, and proper turbolasers could be installed relatively easily, along with associated feeds, gas tanks and compressors.
