BTL-S9 K-Wing Assault Starfighter
Ship Class: Starfighter
Ship Role: Heavy Starfighter/Bomber
Ship Length: 16 meters
Agility (A): 2
Defensive (D): 4
Offensive (O): 5
Speed (S): 2
Special Gear: 1 (Astromech)
Description:
The BTL-S9 K-Wing Assault Starfighter was part of a re-design proposal known as the Stelmaria Project originally intended for the Corellian Coalition. After the fall of the Coalition to the First Order, Vaughan Emrys managed to recover the Project proposals and adapted them for his own purposes. Thus a new series of Starfighters was born, with the BTL-S9 K-Wing serving as a new model of Heavy Starfighter/Bomber as an evolution of K-Wing design from the days of the Rebel Alliance. Much of the ships design is still rooted in previous K-Wing technology, however the BTL-S9 features unique design stylings which other vessels of the Stelmaria Project share.
Of all the Stelmaria Project Starfighters, the BTL-S9 K-Wing probably features the largest re-design of the line. The BTL-S9 has foregone the detachable cockpit of the original K-wing, choosing instead to integrate the cockpit into the main body of the starfighter. This provided a fully enclosed space for the crew to work within, alongside the Astromech which slots in to the back area of the cockpit from the roof. Beneath the cockpit level sits a bomb storage bay (capable of storing 17 bombs) along with a bomb chute, allowing for quick delivery of heavy munitions. A pair of turreted Dual-Laser Cannons flank the cockpit, while a third turreted Dual-Laser Cannon was located beneath the nose of the Starfighter. A pair of fixed forward facing Dual-Laser cannons were also hidden in the nose. Finally a pair of Ion cannons were set to either side of the cockpit. 10 Torpedo Launchers capable of firing 2 torpedos each were located in the sides of the BTL-S9. 12 Hardpoints were located on the wings with ability to load a variety of munitions (Rocket launchers capable of firing a volley of 36 rockets each were a strong favourite). A Ventral Bay door served to allow the loading of munitions, crew access, and deployment of larger than standard munitions.
