Hi all,
Was discussing with some fellow writers about use of various ships when the topic was brought up that in recent years the size of the JvS community has decreased significantly from the writer counts we used to have in 1.5 and the early 2.0 days. However, what hasn't changed much in all that time is the requirements associated with Faction Fleet Bonuses. Something which has, in my opinion, had something of a negative affect on the Faction space.
I know a lot of us regularly approach a lot of situations with fleet engagements under the "well as long as both sides agree, we can just stretch or ignore certain fleet numbers for this engagement" but that then leaves lingering problems of "well what do we do with these ships after that fight?" or "ok but this other person just attacked and I can't use these additional vessels", etc.
With that in mind, I would like to open the floor to see what everyone else thinks? I think an adjustment and shuffle of what the requirements are would help remove some of the dominance of single faction (since arguably it's more profitable to join an existing faction that already has a lot of people to contribute to their numbers, than it is to have another faction) and provide people some leeway with "what extra ships can we keep/have after a big fight and have some fun with"
The suggestion I put forth was the following:
It's not perfect, and some adjustment may be needed for the "Beyond 10 Default Group Members" count, but I think it still keeps in line with encouraging collaboration whilst giving some rewards sooner instead of having to hit a larger goal just to expand that capability to have more/larger ships.
Another thought that was floated, was that instead of the above goal adjustments, we take stock of the fact we have fewer writers overall and consider that perhaps we count active alts as part of the Default Group Member numbers. Please bear in mind this was only a thought, and is by far not a "hey we should definitely do this", it was just something that seemed worth mentioning.
So what are your thoughts? Is the system I suggested just needing some more adjustment? do you have an idea for an alternate system?

3 Default Group Members: 1 point
4 Default Group Members: 2 points
5 Default Group Members: 3 points
6-7 Default Group Members: 4 points
8-9 Default Group Members: 6 Points
10 Default Group Members: 10 Points
Beyond 10 Default Group Members, gain 1 point for every additional 3 Default Members.
