While Nem Yin was no where near that level ailment, he was nonetheless not comfortable. Or was he adjusting to something? She knew that Yuuzhan Vong had some...curious practices to say the least. Still clutching to Metroclus' hand, she lightly inclined her head in a slight nod of acknowledgement to first Lucien, then to Nem Yin, to whom she addressed further, “Thank you, Execu-ehm...Nem. Umm...are you...are you all right?”
Green eyes met the Yuuzhan Vong's, alight with concern. As she leaned forward, her small tiara began to slip off. Although it was not possible for Yuuzhan Vong to mimic the facial features of most humanoids, at least not without wearing a false set of skin, he did his best to keep his cheeks bones high and his jaw pulled back, displaying something of a disturbing skeletal grin which was his attempt at a sincere smile. The dark purple eye sacs beneath his glowing mqaaq'it pulsated in mild amusement as the girl struggled with his title, or perhaps remembered half way through speaking it that he preferred to just go by his given name. Either way that wasn't what was important.Somehow she had noticed that something wasn't quite right with him. He supposed it was obvious from the way his hand trembled when he went for the bladder flask on his hip, or the hastiness with which he had consumed the narcotic. She could have also seen the unusual swagger in his walk prior to entering the meeting hall, all symptoms of his affliction. Despite having only just met the Jedi Lords, he saw little reason in concealing his illness, especially seeing as at least one person had already picked up on it."I'm fine." He said at first, then explained further. "Or at least, nothing troubles me that is out of the ordinary. I spent most of my life aboard a Koros-Strohna, a worldship, where our gravity was generated artificially by a form of bio-engineered plant known as a dovin basal. The sad result of which is that any time I find myself in naturally formed gravity, my stomach churns and vertigo sets in." He patted his uneasy stomach with one hand to emphasize the point. "I'm really only ever comfortable aboard a starship or space station, which is why I spend most of my time traveling aboard my ship. The only thing that seems to help settle the malaise is a healthy measure of sparkbee honey." He retrieved his bladder-flask again and took another quick swallow, before returning it to his side. Now that the girl had his full attention, he was beginning to grow curious of her role. That she seemed to have a bodyguard, as well as a tiara, he could assume she was part of the Jedi Lords nobility."I don't think we've been properly introduced. You already know my name, but I haven't heard yours yet. Or that of your escort."Nem allowed his gaze to linger on Metroclus as he finished speaking, gauging the armoured knight by the standards of his own people. He already knew first hand that the Jedi were warriors of unequaled skill and ability, but these ones were a little different than the others he had met. Still, that armour looked pretty tough, and the man wearing it looked strong enough to make proper use of it. He reminded the Intendant of Xarl Lah, an old flame of his. At a glance he appeared very dedicated to his duty of protecting the smaller one.

[ Princess Sorsha Sunrunner | Meeting Hall | Harcey Keep | Ossus' Open Terrain | Ossus ] Attn: Lucien Malvern , Nem Yin & Aerandir Calmcacil She absorbed all he had to say with rapt interest, her Aldar side manifesting her innate curiosity and fascination for anything different from herself. She was intrigued to know more about the sparkbee honey, because that sounded incredible! She idly wondered how Nem Yin would react to the sight of a Úan-Nier or the Bee Rex as some had taken to calling the fourteen meter long monstrosities.
Their honey was spectacular, though.
When the Yuuzhan Vong spoke again, Sorsha frowned, remembering that Lucien had named the Knights and the respective escorts...though to be fair, it was a handful. Maybe her name got slipped through the numbers.
“Sorry, it's Sorsha Sunrunner,” she said shyly, “and he is Metroclus Garrik.”

[ Metroclus Garrik | Meeting Hall | Harcey Keep | Ossus' Open Terrain | Ossus ] Attn: Lucien Malvern , Nem Yin & Aerandir Calmcacil Having been on prolonged outings that saw him on a space station or vessel with artificial gravity, Metroclus could sympathize with Nem Yin for the situation he now experienced. Though the Yuuzhan Vong's condition appeared somewhat advanced, suggesting he spent a very long time on board a ship, possibly most of his life. When Sorsha introduced herself and him, he frowned lightly at her, noting how she'd omitted her title.
No doubt it didn't carry much weight outside of her homeworld, but the girl nevertheless represented the interests of the Aldar and Archon whether she was displaced by a few millennia or not.
She was still insecure and shy about herself and her place in everything. Casting a quick glance towards Lucien, Metroclus then spoke up for himself.
“Princess Sorsha Sunrunner of Archon, Crown heir to the Western Throne, is quite notable for her humility,” he said in a gentle tone, so as not to shame the girl or make her more self-conscious than she already was, “I am Lieutenant Metroclus Garrik, Republic Trooper attached to Guardian Squad of the Thirteenth Diplomatic Defence Legion.”
He rested his armoured palm on his helmet on the table, his blue-eyed gaze showing mild amusement, “If it's not obvious, I'm not a Jedi. Just a soldier out of his time and place.”

A soldier out of time and place? His eye sacs pulsed. Now that had a familiar ring to it. His own journey from one end of time to the other was part of a plan he had put together himself, always intended to see him survive long enough to guide his people to the promise land. The Intendant wondered what set of circumstance saw Metroclus from his past time period to this one. A wormhole in space? Some sort of stasis device similar to the one Nem had used? Or perhaps some mystery of the Force that he had no means to gauge or could possibly fathom, given his own limited knowledge of it."A princess and a lieutenant?" He raised a hairless brow, clearly intrigued. "I am honoured to make your acquaintance." He crossed his arms over his chest and bent at the waist, offering them each a bow in turn. The Yuuzhan Vong didn't exactly have a nobility of their own, though some of their ruling positions shared some similarities with various monarchies found throughout the galaxy. The Supreme Overlord, a position Domain Yin dedicated themselves to seeing remain vacant, had been a rulership role allegedly ordained by the Yun'o, the Yuuzhan Vong religious pantheon of deities. His people now knew better. Shimrra Jamaane had been a deceiver deserving of death. The Executor's greatest regret was that he hadn't been the one to send that miserable excuse of a Yuuzhan Vong to the afterlife.Rising from his bow, the Intendant lowered his hands to his hips and gave Metroclus an appraising nod."I should have recognized that. From my understanding Jedi do tend to shy away from heavy armour like yours. Still, it looks rather durable. I'd be curious to see it compared to the vonduun skerr kyrric worn by the warrior caste of my people. Not that I brought any with me. My family Domain's martial focus has always been on stealth." He paused, sucking his teeth before continuing. "Given your own unique experience, I'd be interested on your thoughts about restarting the Ossus Project. Do you really think we need to be concerned about Sith interference, or were you simply speaking of taking precaution? I've been...away, these last ten years, on an errand for my people beyond the light of the stars. If there is anything we should be concerned about, I should want to know of it. I've had dealings with their kind before. I owe them a bit of vengeance for killing a friend of mine."

*Aerandir stood in observation as the young princess voiced her concerns over a potential second sabotage. He had met her and her companion briefly, during his tour of the palace; surprisingly, not the first individuals he had met who had been displaced from their own time, though their point of origin far surpassed any other he had met. He felt for the two of them, the young girl especially. Effectively losing everyone and everything she knew and loved at such a young age. The same age as his own daughter Lucy.
The same age Morgan was when...
"Stop that. She's home now," he thought, and preemptively chastising himself for feeling like he had to constantly remind himself of that fact.
He drew his attention back to the present, listening to the conversation. Lucien gave his opinions on the security of the project as well as his belief that their enemy had little to gain from sabotage. Aerandir disagreed, though allowed Nem to speak and assure all present that there would be due diligence, which evidently had been lacking in the previous attempt.
When he found a moment, he spoke up.* "I would actually have to agree with Metroclus, in my experience the Sith are too chaotic to trust... in any capacity, but specifically in regards to not mucking things up here." *He briefly considered the Ren, but he had gathered enough data on them—or at the very least, their ringleader—to comment,* "The Knights of Ren, on the other hand, are unlikely to sabotage such a project. As Duke Malvern says, they and the Empire are, for all their many faults, seemingly committed to some sort of order and restoration. No, it's the Sith we should, as ever, at least be alert of."
*Turning his head towards Metroclus, he added,* "In regards to the Jedi Shadows, we have no plans to revive them at this time. ... forgive me if that sounds scripted, however, the previous attempt failed when its leader fell. For now, we're choosing not to pursue their revival. Such a role was instated during the height of the Jedi's power... and much as we may be loath to admit it, we're not quite there right now."

[ Princess Sorsha Sunrunner | Meeting Hall | Harcey Keep | Ossus' Open Terrain | Ossus ] Attn: Lucien Malvern , Nem Yin & Aerandir Calmcacil Sorsha only just barely managed to avoid making whiny noises when Metroclus saw fit to include her title, her honestly very useless title of princess to the introductions, but failed to hide the pout. She could understand his desire to state his rank and station, but it seemed utterly pointless to her. Nothing of their timeline had survived the countless millennia from which they were separated from. There was no Republic that Metroclus could recognize, and the Archon Sorsha knew was a vastly changed world too. The Aldar of today had only just recovered the ability for star travel, and while they had built an impressive and even intimidating fleet, they were also focused on trying to survive the horrible Sith Curse.
In short, there was nothing for her and Metroclus. They were, quite simply, at the mercy of their current hosts. Mostly because the Aldar were much too terrifying for Sorsha to even consider with that nearly manic hero-worship of her for saving them from the Curse. She was nowhere near ready to consider becoming a queen to people she knew nothing about. Her ways were quite different and even more fatalistic than...well, they were her people, weren't they?
With a mental sigh, she brought her mind back to Nem Yin and this matter. It seemed, like the Executor shared at least some of her and Metroclus' distaste for the Sith, whom the Aldar were sworn to hunt actively alongside their Jedi allies. She allowed a weak smile to grace her lips when Nem Yin addressed Metroclus about his armour, at least the man would have someone to converse with about such things. She suspected Metroclus was rather proud of his gear, even if he rarely spoke about it to her. She offered him a light squeeze of his hand, not sure if he could feel that through the gauntlet, but hopefully he did.
The Jedi Grandmaster than spoke, and he too, favoured Metroclus' concerns, though she was mildly surprised to hear that the Jedi Shadows were in fact, inactive. Well, hardly surprising since it had been at least three thousand years or so. A lot of changes were bound to happen. She idly wondered if the concept of Sentinels, Consulars and Guardians still existed for the Jedi.
“We were pursued by Sith Hunter-Killers before getting trapped in carbonite a few thousand years ago,” said Sorsha, her tone morose, “Metroclus got stuck with me. We lived...everything we know and love are dust. And the Sith did that. Before that, they destroyed entire worlds...out of spite. Sith are mean.”

[ Metroclus Garrik | Meeting Hall | Harcey Keep | Ossus' Open Terrain | Ossus ] Attn: Lucien Malvern , Nem Yin & Aerandir Calmcacil When he spotted the young girl's pout at him, he barely restrained his smile, and suppressed the urge to pat her on the head. She was adorable when she was being shy and modest. Less so when she got moody or despondent. And she was coming to her teen years. While she was an Aldar, he had the feeling teenagers were one and the same across most races.
He felt her squeeze his hand, seemingly offering him support, and this time gave her a more obvious smile. It was clear to anyone how deeply he cared for this girl, and how he was ready to do anything to ensure her security and happiness. When she spoke, he had to restrain himself from snorting with laughter. Sith were mean, indeed! Talk about understatement. But it brought to mind what he had lost. His wife, and children. He had a son, and a daughter on the way. He had no way of knowing if any descendants lived up to today. And even if there were, what was he going to say to them?
He listened to Nem Yin's answers and inquiries, but Grandmaster Calmcacil spoke up first, sharing his concerns about potential risks. There was nothing to be gained by absolute paranoia, of course. Nevertheless, some safeguards seemed prudent, with whatever resources were available to them.
“If we get the chance about the armours, Nem,” said Metroclus, “I think that would be quite an instructional experience for everyone involved. It seemed to hold up well enough during my subsequent revival alongside the princess. As to the matter of the Sith, as Grandmaster Calmcacil pointed out, and in my direct experience, they are always scheming or plotting someone's downfall, if not ours, then someone else's, even each other's. It's practically all they live for. The princess grossly understates the horrors Sith are capable of. Not three centuries from my time, a Sith had bombarded and utterly destroyed Taris, in a hunt for one Jedi. Then...in my time...”
He paused for a moment, to collect his thoughts, “...have you ever heard of Wysum? If you haven't, don't worry. You probably never will. The Sith completely obliterated the planet. It's nothing more than rocks and debris. Why? Someone in my squadron was of that world. She...annoyed a Sith Lord. Annoyed. And like a petulant child with control over a planet-killer superweapon, he devastated an entire world to make a point. We managed to put an end to that weapon, but a world of nine billion inhabitants paid the price first. So...I'm telling you all this, because I want you to understand, I cannot help but be most aware of just what lengths Sith would go...on a mere whim.”
Finished with that, he turned to Aerandir and Lucien with a grave expression, “I can understand being stretched thin. What if it's not an organization, but just one team, or at the worst, one person? Someone to do investigations and run discreet oversight on people? For all their faults, The Imperial Agents of the Intelligence Division were something of a terror with their efficacy during the Cold War. Are we not able to start a grassroots for such? At least for now.”

The Jedi Shadows had long been a defunct organization of the overall Jedi Order. Lucien wasn't aware of why or the reasons behind it however. After all, this had happened before he was an adult. His sect, the Jedi Lords, hadn't even been made official nor existed. He was still combing through the Jedi Order records, understanding more of recent events and knowing who was what. Becoming High Lord had propelled him into a greater role of responsibility. Nonetheless, it wasn't up him to reorganize the Shadows anyways. The Grandmaster likely had the final say in that scenario.
The Jedi Lord's military has an intelligence agency, run by our officers and skilled professionals. It isn't the state of the art, like the Imperials, nor as expansive as the Republic, but it will manage for now. Ossus is but one world so our eyes and ears will need to this system for the most part. Regular patrols keep an eye on the incoming and outgoing traffic. I suspect Nem will also have his own agents that will help monitor the project and cooperate with our own enforcement and security.
The proposal by Metroclus was presented to him and Aerandir, noticing where his gaze was going. Lucien turned to the Grandmaster after the Republic Trooper had spoken of his proposed idea involving a team or an individual that could do investigations and run discreetly. There were pros and cons to the idea. This the High Lord could see in the words of the individual.
An individual may easily be overwhelmed with such work though, Metroclus. As for a team, it is a possibility. However, this decision would be best discussed by the Jedi Council or, at least, thought over by the Grandmaster. I believe that, for now, the present security will do just fine. However, ensuring its enhancement and improvement is something that can always be done. If we do too much at once, we may garner more attention than desired. After all, Ossus has been left alone and so too have the Jedi by greater powers in the galaxy.
There was but one worry to the High Lord and that was the darkness coming from Mon Calamari. Since the fall of the Galactic Alliance, a dark power had festered on the ocean world. Quarrens now reigned supreme and a source of evil led them. They would likely be the ones that may turn their gaze to the Jedi if anything.

It was impossible for Nem to detest the Sith for the past atrocities they had committed. It would have been far too hypocritical, given that the tally of the dead left in the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong War made those other terrible events seem like child's play by comparison. His people had destroyed plenty of planets themselves, some times for as petty a reason as that Sith that apparently destroyed Wysum. While in a post-war galaxy and deeply remorseful as a species for those events, even if some of it had been more the doing of a corrupt leadership, it still didn't wash the blood from his hands or the guilt that plagued him even worse than his gravity related illness did. Only time and a great deal of restitution could do that, even then, his soul might never be perfectly clean. However, the Sith were still responsible for killing a member of his domain, a brother in some sense. That made it personal. While the members of Domain Yin were too often absorbed by their own guilt and culpability, they were also very slow to forgive. He wouldn't allow the Sith to ruin this opportunity to rectify some of the Yuuzhan Vong's past misdeeds. Whatever it took, he would make sure the Ossus Project was a success.I suspect Nem will also have his own agents that will help monitor the project and cooperate with our own enforcement and security. Snapped from his dark reminiscing, Nem nodded as Duke Malvern pointed out that the Praetorite would have its own agents in operation through the project's duration. He held his right hand to the side and snapped his fingers, signaling to the chazrach accompanying him that he required one of his biots. The hunched reptilian reached into the pouch around its waist and withdrew the Executor's qahsa, a portable organic computer that was essentially the Yuuhzan Vong equivalent of a data-pad. The creature handed the living tablet to the Intendant, who in turn began to study the screen while he spoke out loud."We most certainly will. Not only will the shaper caste overseeing the Project be actively looking for abnormalities and signs of tampering, but I will have members of my domain concealed amongst the worker caste that will be doing much of the manual labour. As former infiltrators, they will know what to look for if there are any attempts to set the project awry." He raised the qahsa he had been studying. "I should also like access to any available archeological records and scientific data on Ossus. While it will be impossible to completely recreate the planet as Metroclus might remember it, with the proper data it may be possible to clone and replicate some of the original fauna using our technology, at least returning the world to a near semblance of its old self. Keeping in mind that some alterations will be unavoidable if we are filling in the blanks where certain scientific historical data may no longer be available."

There are a number of old recordings, manuscripts, and scientific findings made by the late Kol Skywalker and his colleagues.By the sound of this meeting, things were agreeable. The Jedi Lords could move forward with the attempt and, hopefully, see to its fruition and completion. And, once that was done, Ossus would be the utopia and fortress it was in the days of the Old Jedi Order. The Duke hoped to see this done thoroughly so that the world was renewed. The Duke looks at those gathered, eyeing especially the scientific geniuses that came and the notables of biological studies.I ask that the various scientific minds and organizations, here today, work with our Vong visitors and Nem Yin. Together, we can see Ossus renewed and revived as it was before. It will be a glorious day, for us all, when Ossus is green and lush once more.He turns to the Ysanna chiefs present, those had been staunch allies of the Jedi Lords.Assist in our venture, almighty chiefs. Unified in our purpose, Ossus will be beautiful. A world that we can share in its renewed bounty. A world that will no longer be scarred but rejuvenated by the efforts of our common cause. And lastly, to his fellow Jedi nobles. We must work with our Ysanna allies, Nem Yin, and the scientists. All together, it can and will be done.

It was one thing to have everyone's support for the project, that was more or less the easy part. Creating results? That was going to be a bit harder. He had confidence in the bio-forming technologies of his people, however, and even more confidence in Mira Yim. With the scientific data made available to them, he was also certain they could recreate at least a convincing facsimile of Ossus before its landscape became a broken ruin. There may be a need for some creative liberty to fill in a few gaps, which he already had a few ideas about. There was a particular herb he quite enjoyed, meant to be smoked in a pipe but it could also be enjoyed in a number of other ways. Given the climate and weather charts he had examined previous to the meeting, he was confident it would grow in abundance if properly nurtured.
Mqaaq'it brightening at the thought, Nem shook the thought from his head and returned his attention to the present, offering another bow at Lucian's address. He handed his qahsa device back to his chazrach and then placed his hands on his hips, feeling a mild bit better now that the sparkbee honey was having an effect on his system. A pleasant fug set in over his mind and his twisting guts were all but forgotten about.
"With that in mind, I should depart and make ready a site for our master shapers arrival. Based on the available data I have a suitable location near the equator where the weather tends to be warmest. I've already taken the opportunity to upload the geographical coordinates of the site to your datapads." He said with a wink. When had he done that? "I will coordinate with the Ysanna and other scientists once Mira arrives. Until then..."
He turned on his heel and departed the hall, his faithful chazrach hurrying to hobble after his longer stride.

Falling from orbit like shooting stars, four seedling pods streaked towards the desolate western hemisphere, eventually striking the ground with thunderous impacts that scattered dust and debris in all directions. Powerful secreted acids bled from the pods of biomass, melting and repurposing rock as organic fodder for fast spawning matts of yorik coral. When the ground had softened adequately, long fleshy tendrils emerged from the impact side of the pods and began to penetrate the ground, burrowing deep beneath the surface as they sought out sources of ground water and what few buried nutrients remained, expanding out to form a network tens of kilometers long. These roots fed the seedlings with the vital resources they required to function properly, while also serve to stabilize the forming structure. The top of each pod began to shimmer and vibrate, cracks formed along the yorik coral surface and soon the sides began to peel back from the center, blossoming to reveal four giant flower shaped organic buildings known as damuteks. The unfolding of pedals began the fertility cycle and soon millions of particles of pollen were ejected from the the flourishing Yuuzhan Vong constructs and began to spread across the surface of the continent, carried by the wind.Circling the target zone, the Fecund Fortress glimmered like a brilliant gem, its crystalline structure shifting as it began preparations to impregnate the planet. On the bridge, Master Shaper Mira Yim watched the progress of the damuteks on a blaze-bug display, carefully monitoring each sequence of events to make sure everything was happening in the correct order. Satisfied with the production of pollen, and knowing the next phase was heavily reliant on their own efforts, she rested her elegantly tattooed hands on the coral bridge railing and gave the command."Release seed spores!" She said with the authority of her station. Wordlessly through the symbiotic links of their tall-yor, known in basic as a cognition hood, the bridge crew input the necessary commands to vent the collection of prepared seedlings from openings along the sides and bottom of the Fecund Fortress. The seed ship appeared to be bleeding debris, but was in fact releasing millions of tiny plant spores that were quick to take root once they fell to the surface of the planet. The growing miasma of pollen vented from the planted damuteks impregnated the spores and within hours growth was beginning to form where life had been absent for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. When the seed ship's supply of spores had been expended, the gem encrusted bio-vessel began to descend, heading towards the center most point between the four damuteks that were spread roughly four kilometers apart from one another. Giant spindly segmented legs protruded from the sparkling underside of the Fecund Fortress and pierced the ground, followed by numerous arrest tentacles slithering from their housings and simultaneously latching onto the surface of the planet, forming an organic blanket that bound the seed ship to its final resting place. It would not rise again, its purpose having been fulfilled. Now it would grow into something new.In the bowels of the ever changing mineral palace, the specially prepared Dhuryam stirred, finally have woken from its slumber by a command from the Master Shaper. Mira, resplendently beautiful by Yuuzhan Vong standards in her shimmering ozzhith and sparkling glistweb shoulder wrap, genuflected before the future world brain."I beseech you, Oh-Great-One, on behalf of the followers of Yun-Ne'Shel, She-Who-Shapes, blessed Goddess of Life, awaken and root!" A relative of the yammosk species, the dhuryam had powerful telepathic properties, capable of monitoring and controlling the complex organic systems that were involved in Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology. The powerful creature would be essential to spreading life across the barren wastes of the western hemisphere. Stirring in its liquid vat, the massive tentacle limbed organism began to secrete acid from a powerful beaked tooth, driving itself into the crust as its tendrils spread out and began to symbolically merge with the veins of yorik coral.Stage 1: Complete.

After leaving the duke's estate, having more or less wrapped up negotiations for the Praetorite Vong's involvement in the renewed Ossus Project, the Executor had returned to the yorik-trema he had arrived in. Upon exiting the fort, Nem's glowing green mqaaq'it spotted the familiar molted ball of flesh, affectionately referred to as the Blood Chalice, perforating the ground where it was parked with a series of arrest tentacles. Unlike the infidel starships, the organic transport didn't need to refuel or swap out power cells. It needed to feed. Fortunately while the planet had been stripped of much of its available sustenance, the minerals found in the rocky soil were perfectly suited to fill its stomach and replenish its vitality. The belly of the ship split to reveal an air-tight hatch sphincter, which retracted to release a long unfurling molleung worm that served as the vessel's boarding ramp. The Intendant strode up the ramp with purpose, his lurching chazrach companion hobbling after him, doing its best to keep up with his assertive stride. Upon reaching the cockpit, Nem leaned in over the cognition throne where his pilot was symbiotically connected to the living organism through a tall-yor. The hooked protrusions of the covering were literally embedded in the flesh of the pilot, painfully tugging at his scarred grey skin."Take us to Alpha Site in the western hemisphere. Mira's already arrived and I want to see her progress for myself."His feature's concealed behind the fleshy hood sealed over his head, the pilot nodded and began to manipulate the controls, rousing the dovin basals to full wakefulness. Bending gravity to their purpose, the plant like organisms raised the yorik-trema off the ground, while six segmented spindly joints retracted and returned to their housing inside the organic vessel. The bow end of the ship spun on a horizontal axis until it was facing the opposite direction, then the long whip like tail that protruded from the stern began to sweep rapidly from right to left, kicking up dust as it swished through the air and began to propel the transport forwards. The dovin basals were doing most of the work but the tail helped to add a little bit of extra speed. Soon the Blood Chalice was zooming over the desolate landscape, flying fast towards its target destination.Nem spent much of the travel time going over the information provided by the Jedi Lords on the planet's history. His brow furrowed as he glared at the qahsa device in his hands, his ocular implants practically glued to the glowing screen as he flipped through data. The information was mostly science based and would have been beyond the scope and understanding of most Intendants, but he wasn't like most, a Yuuzhan Vong out of time from a period before castes were a concept to enslave their daily lives. Mira was probably the only other Yuuzhan Vong for a thousand parsecs that could have deciphered the information and draw meaning from it. Irritatingly, her natural affinity and talents when it came to bio-engineering had quickly surpassed his own, despite her vastly shorter life span. As they drew nearer, he put away his organic tablet and headed up to the transparent membranes that allowed a clear look at the landscape ahead. He spotted the first of four damuteks that had been dropped from orbit, the massive organic structures had already taken root and were still growing to an immense scope. They were necessary for the task of terraforming, each assigned to a different duty. One was responsible for the supply of water, be it from tapping hidden reservoirs buried beneath the surface of the planet, or by creating it through seeding the clouds and promoting rain, harvesting the hydrogen particles the frigate in orbit was hard at work gathering. Another damutek was responsible for the production of oxygen, pulling carbon and other various elements from the air and ground like a massive filter. It was aided in this task by the fauna that was beginning to grow and overtake the brown harsh landscape. A third damutek was in charge of the ground itself, leaching nutrients into the soil to make it more fertile while digging deep and drawing on geothermal power locked deep beneath Ossus' crust. And finally, the last damutek, was responsible for life itself. Most of the shaper caste that had arrived with Mira had taken up residence there and were overseeing the genetic reproduction of animal life, cloning technically, but that was only necessary in the initial stages. Time and nature would eventually see a return to more normalized forms of breeding in the wild, once the plant and animal populations were there to support it.Zipping towards the crystalline structure at the centermost point between the four giant flowers, the Blood Chalice approached the remains of the Fecund Fortress, which now had rooted itself in the ground and had become a glimmering structure. Through the transparent window he could see worker caste and Yuuzhan Vong farming organisms hard at work. The yorik-trema set down next to a field of budding lambent trees, the feint glow of ripening fruit adding an eerie haze the landing zone. He exited the craft alone, his lower half sealed in robeskin pants bound to his flesh like a layer of second skin, while his chest was bare to reveal the dueling imagery of Yun-Harla and Yun-Yammka tattooed across his breast. A long robeskin coat hung from his shoulders, ending it small hooked protrusions that rattled as he walked. Upon entering the gem encrusted building, he raised the bladder flask hanging from his hip and took a deep swallow of sparkbee honey, savouring the narcotic fluid he was mildly addicted to.This was home for now, he supposed. Until the project was completed. He wondered what the Ysanna would be like, and what they would think of all...well, this.

In the foyer of the crystalline structure that had formed from the final resting place of the seed ship, Mira was conferring with several other shapers outside the entrance to the world brain well when she noticed the arrival of the Executor. Her luminous mqaaq'it practically beamed when she spotted him. She laid a gentle hand on the shaper in front of her, who was deep into explaining the finer points of his work on reproducing the planet's original fauna, and then guided him aside as she excused herself from the less than riveting conversation.
She did enjoy talking science, but when you knew vastly more of the subject someone was explaining to you, it was like an infidel youth explaining in full detail their first day at school. Passionate, but boring.
In her crimson oozhith she practically glided towards the Intendant. The decorative biots in her hair seemed to pick up on her excitement as well and became more animate as a result, causing her long dark locks to billow and further feed the illusion that she was weightless.
"Nem." She exclaimed aloud, raising a waving hand to draw his attention as she flagrantly ignored protocol and called him by name rather than title. She moved to meet him and stopped when she was verging the edge of encroaching on his personal space. Her light blue eye sacs pulsed in delight and she bowed her head, then raised it to meet his gaze before offering him a wink. "I'm glad you're here. You must have seen the fruits of our labour outside. What do you think? When you first spoke of this world I was expecting an airless rock, but from what I have seen there is plenty to work with. This will be less of a challenge than Coruscant was."
She used the infidel name for the world at the center of this galaxy. Calling it Yuuzhan'tar had never felt quite right.

Bone hooks rattled as the Intendant came to an abrupt stop, finding the Master Shaper practically pressed against him. As he was taller, he was forced to stare down at her, his ocular implants shifting from their usual emerald hue to a pleasant blue. His own dark purple and far less pleasing to look upon eye sacs pulsated in return. Where Mira was a classic example of Yuuzhan Bong beauty, Nem was ugly, even by the standards of their people. He ran a spindly fingered hand over his rough scalp ridges and turned his head to the side, praying the odor of sparkbee honey on his breath wasn't too oppressive.
It wasn't even mid-day and he was already half in the bag, as the expression went.
"Master Shaper." He replied more studiously, eyeing the other shapers of her ilk in the background. "I saw your efforts on my way in." He focused his mqaaq'it on her more intensely, lowering his voice so only she could hear his words. "You would do well to show a bit more humility in your work. We haven't yet discussed a formal plan for developing the planet with the Ysanna. If they take offense at our actions it could compromise my diplomatic efforts. I'd like to cultivate these Jedi Lords as allies."

Placing her shaper hand on her chest, Mira scoffed, feigning mock offense. "It can not be helped. By virtue of our bio-engineering expertise, we can do in weeks and months what would take the other species of this galaxy decades if not centuries. Besides, what's a few square kilometers between friends?" She smiled like an infidel, then raised a pale brow. "We are that much at least, yes? Judging by your words and the fact that we were invited to help fertilize this world, I take it talks with the Jedi were fruitful. I don't expect I would be here otherwise."

Lifting his chin, Nem hesitated before replying, struggling to find the words to convey his constantly troubled thoughts without giving too much away. Finally, upon letting out a slow hot breath, he answered her. "It was...educational."
Time was a lesson. Ten years ago, when the galaxy was a far more tumultuous place and war was on the verge of spilling out into all quarters of the galaxy, he had sought to manipulate events to his purpose. Through careful coordination, he had...convinced, the Corellian Jedi to launch an expedition mission to Zonama Sekot. They arrived believing the purpose of their visit was to investigate a potential Yuuzhan Vong threat. What they had not been expecting was that Nem had led them there with intent. He informed them of the threat of the Sith Empire, which he had been gathering information on for some time. Unfortunately they were less than pleased with his tactics, and to his knowledge, never pursued the matter seriously. He had failed, but in doing so had learned the importance of tact when it came to dealing with their kind. They respected straight forwarded honesty, which he had to admit his adoptive caste had never excelled at. This time around if he wanted to accomplish the same goal, he would have to do things differently.
His mqaaq'it flicked from side to side, noting the presence of many potentially listening ears and watchful eyes. He leaned in towards Mira, nearly resting his grey head on her shoulder as he turned his thin lips towards her fluttering wing like ear.
"Is there somewhere we can speak in private?"

Mira's butterfly wing shaped ear fluttered in response to the caress by the Intendant's hot breath. He wanted to speak in private? She glanced around the atrium, noting the obvious presence of others, all which were Yuuzhan Vong and loyal members of the Praetorite.
Really, Nem, you can't trust even here among your own kind? It was a sad thought, mildly offensive really, but sad above all else. He had been at his spy games so long that even when he should have been able to feel secure, he never seemed able, at least not unless he knew they were alone. She had made no promise not to share anything said between them in private, and even though she obviously would for the sake of their friendship, she wished he could open up more with his people. Keeping everyone at a distance was second nature to him at this point.
"Of course." She said sadly, before taking his hand in hers and leading the Executor through the open hatch-sphincter near where she had been standing upon his arrival. They walked some ways, descending deeper and deeper until it was obvious they were below surface level, until eventually the path opened up into a large room dominated by a bubbling pool of liquid that was surrounded by a translucent vat. Inside was the dhuryam she had brought with her. The massive multitentacled creature had already began to merge with its surroundings. Risen veins of pulsating coral seemed to throb, while the sensation of a powerful and oppressive mind began to weigh on those near the telepathic creation. "Welcome to the Well of the World Brain."
She released his hand and strode over to the edge of the pool, which was surrounded by a yorik-coral railing. They were completely alone in the large open room, save for the dhuryam itself, whose prying psychic probing would have been impossible to evade even out in the main foyer. The Master Shaper turned around to rest her back against the railing, pursing her lips as she focused her mqaaq'it on Nem.
"I have a feeling I know what you are going to say, but before you start protesting, let me explain. I needed it. All of this..." She motioned with a wave of her eight fingered shaper hand at the room around them. "...doesn't just run itself. Nei Rin wouldn't have run into half the problems she had if she had help. I don't intend to make the same mistakes she did."

Remaining quiet as he allowed the shaper to guide him deep into the bowels of the terraforming epicenter, he tried to keep an open mind, which proved impossible when they arrived at their destination. From passive blue to flaring red, his ocular implants blazed with stress and frustration, before settling back to green. He sucked in a breath and approached the tank, resting both his hands on the railing while he leaned over and peered into the murky liquid, exhaling after a moment in a vapid cloud of steam.
Yammka's bloody cock, Mira. His mind flipped furiously fast through all the potential outcomes, while his hands squeezed the railing and his veins stood out on his arms like splintering cracks. After a moment he untensed, pushing off the railing and turning to face the Master Shaper, seeming to have quickly come to terms with what was already done.
"I'm not thrilled. These creatures are rare enough as it is, so to commit one to this project when there is no guarantee we will be staying here long term...it seems costly. But, I am grateful to see that you are taking this seriously. Perhaps you are right. We devote a powerful resource such as the dhuryam now, maybe catastrophe is diverted in the long run. Either way, it seems I'm too late to have a say. There's no sense in getting upset about it now."
Lowering a hand to the robeskin satchel on his hip, he rummaged around in the pack for a moment before retrieving his smoking biot. The long pipe shaped crustacean was of his own design, with a bowl on one end and a long flute ended opening on the other. He packed the bowl with some of his dwindling supply of Sekotan Green and put the flute end to his thin lips. As he dragged on the tip, the bowl end immolated the contents without the need for an open flame, igniting the narcotic herb and pulling the noxious smoke into his lungs. A hazy cloud formed around his naked head as he exhaled, his woes and worries diminishing as the euphoric substance worked its magic.
"Your work isn't what I wanted to talk about. I wouldn't even trouble you with my thoughts, but well, I'm a little short of people I can trust these days."

Coughing, she waved her shaper hand in front of her delicately tattooed face as she got a lungful of second hand smoke. She placed the eight digit appendage over the bowl end of his pipe and closed her hand to form a fist, depriving the creature of oxygen and stifling the smoke. With some irritation, she looked up at him and shook her head.
"Can you not smoke in here? It's not good for the dhuryam. You get it stoned and the next thing you know our damuteks will be pumping out poison gas instead of plant pollen, and I'll be the one who will have to fix it."
Her point made, the female Yuuhan Vong glided over to one corner of the room where a large qahsa had been set up next to a work station. She knelt down and opened a bio-sealed cabinet, retrieving two veined rigid goblets and a decanter. Filling the cups from the decanter, she returned to the Intendant and handed him a goblet.
"Try that instead. Sekotan blood wine. Dry and tart, like you." Regardless of how her attempt at humour landed, she once more resumed her position leaning against the railing, taking a sip from her own cup before continuing. "You don't have to explain why you needed to talk. That's what I am here for. But you know, you would have more than one set of ears to bounce your thoughts off if you made up with Xarl. You were never this miserable when the two of you were together."
