Interdiction fields was a perfected innovation thanks to the Clone Wars and the Galactic Empire. First utilized by the ancient warship, the Leviathan, during some of the hardest years of the Galactic Republic, it would excel in millennia later, becoming a means to trap pirates, pull rebels out of hyperspace, and lock the enemy in place while starfighters and support vessels mopped up the entrapped enemy. The Immobilizer 418, the Pellaeon-class, the Interdictor-class, all of them sported this technology and used it with great efficiency. And now, another joins their names: the Immortal-class Picket Star Destroyer.
Conceived by a joint team of Sienar Fleet Systems and Yaga Minor shipwrights, the Immortal-class, unlike the Ultimatum Interdictor, may not be a carrier with interdictor capabilities, but has stronger shielding for fierce battles that it and will endure in service to various navies. 1,600 marines and 72 starfighters accompanied the warship for the purpose of naval operations. In total, its armament was comparable to the Ultimatum Interdictor; 50 Medium Turbolaser Cannons, 75 Light Turbolaser Cannons, 100 Ion Cannons, 200 Point Defense Laser Cannons, and 6 Tractor Beam Projectors.
