Aurora did not raise her head, listening as Abigail descended the dais. Steeling herself for the reprimand she was certain was about to come. She listened as her Liege Lady addressed those gathered in the room, explaining what had happened. Speaking of the treachery that Aurora had committed by taking Derek's life. But then something in her tone changed. Aurora unable to stop herself from lifting her head to look at Abigail as the woman spoke of a reward being due. She remained still and silent as the blade came down and almost touched her shoulder. Her gaze meeting Abigail's as this whole affair took a turn she did not expect.
Were she still feeling a foolish woman, she might have interrupted Abigail. But instead, she remained silent. A small smile forming as the blade passed from shoulder to shoulder. Her pale cheeks taking on a red shade as she rose to her feet. Her gaze never leaving Abigail's. She stood there a moment, unsure of what to say or do My Lady... I... It is an honour... She took a quick step forward, and wrapped her arms around Abigail. Pressing her face into Abi's shoulder as she felt a new wave of tears start to form. She held on tightly for a moment I'm sorry.... Thank you, I will work every day to be worthy of this... to be worthy of you My Lady and make you proud! She loosened her grip and took a step back. Hurriedly wiping her tears away with the sleeves of her body suit

Even as Lady Bruce was settling into her liberated keep, Fiyarro soldiers marched about the lands, mopping up what remained of the late warlord's minions. Many simply threw down their weapons and surrendered to trials and arrest. Others were too stubborn... their deaths were necessary as their blaster muzzles attempted to go down fighting. Duke Lucien oversaw the operations, ensuring the blight upon the Bruce's domains were quelled for good. With this done, Serenno was nearly liberated. Those enemy forces that remained were minor and stubborn, but with the planet rapidly changing hands to the Jedi Lords, their resistance would be snuffed out eventually.
Outside, Malvern saw as hundreds of captives, surrendered rebels, were brought by his returning troops. He planned to hand them over to Lady Bruce for judgment as these were her lands after all. They had committed crimes against her people and violated the sanctity of her ancestors. She would be their ultimate judge and their fate would rest in her hands. Malvern knew that many of these simply followed for food and money, but they still committed crimes doing so. They made a choice and that choice had consequences. They would face judgment, no matter how much they pleaded. Justice and order had to be restored after all.
Lucien ventured into the keep of Lady Bruce, making his way through the cleaned hallways. There were still bodies being removed in more isolated areas, but the main places were cleaned and wiped. Duke Malvern waited outside the door of the audience hall before his request was granted. The Duke enters, no longer dressed in his armor, but the fine clothes and colors of his House. His cape was moved over his shoulder with the swift motion of his right arm before Lucien bowed to Lady Bruce.
Baroness Bruce, I have come to confirm that what remained of the resistance has been subdued and eliminated. Your people and lands are free.
He gestures to the wide open area outside, still tainted by the scars of the recent siege.
We have collected a number of prisoners and I desire to hand them over to you for judgment. They committed crimes against your people and your lands, it is you who deserves to be their judge. To show your people, friends, and enemies your restored authority. Order is to be restored and Serenno will soon have that freedom.
Then, Lucien offers a smile to Lady Bruce.
My troops will leave soon and so shall I. I can only hope that your people, and you, can sleep well tonight, knowing they are free.

Abi just smiled at Aurora before frowning a bit.=Abi=No, I am the one who should be sorry. I let the darkness into my heart. I let me desire for revenge blind me to what I was about to do. Thank you for saving me from myself. Now come, Duke Malvern will be here shortly. Abi then took Aurora to get them both changed into garments more befitting the first meeting in Castle Annandale. =========================================================================== +A short while later+Abi was seated upon her throne as the doors were pushed open allowing Duke Malvern to enter. The guards of House Bruce and her advisers (including Aurora and Alesha) were all present. All bowed to the duke as he entered. And from her throne Abi listened to what was relaid to her. She knew this time would come, when she retook her throne. A few moments of silence followed as the Countess made some finale decisions. But finally she spoke with a voice and poise that made no one doubt that the true lord of Annandale had returned.=Abi=I will show mercy upon those who fought against us. Those soldiers who willingly laid down arms when their wicked master was defeated, will be allowed to return to their homes and families. However, they will be required to work to rebuild what was lost under Derek's cruel reign. Once that has been finished, they will be fully absolved of their crimes. Any who did not surrender will be put before a court of their peers to face trial and answer for what they have done. Lastly, any Baron who willingly followed Derek after he murdered my parents, and their rightful rulers, are to have their lands and titles stripped from them for failure to uphold their oaths of fealty, and will spend 18 years in exile, as my grandmother and I did. Turning back to face Malvern more directly she smiled to him. Thank you for all your help in reclaiming our lands. It would not have been possible without your help, Duke. While Baroness Valhalla has organized a milita, they will be able to keep the peace for a time. However, it will take time for House Bruce to raise a true fighting force to stand beside the rest of the Jedi Lords. Until that time, House Bruce will help in whatever way we can, funding, food, and other supplies that we have will be at your disposal. Rising from her seat. And let this be the beginning of a new age of peace for the people of Serenno, and another grand step to driving the Darkness out of our Galaxy! Returning to her throne, Abigail sat and looked more at home than any had seen her before, save Alesha who welled with pride to see her granddaughter come into her own.

Lucien listened to the words of the Countess, noting her desire to ensure punishment was just and swift, but it was not a means to end. It wasn't her attempt at ensuring her power. It was ensuring these people understood their crimes, paid for them, and then were forgiven. This was how things were done before the collapse of the Serenno Assembly and the fall into chaos. Malvern had been a bit more harsh on his enemies, but they had been the ones who participated in the death of his father. It was hard to offer forgiveness, but it was granted from time to time.
I will relay these words to my soldiers who hold the prisoners as we speak. I will ensure that it is carried out before I depart.
Malvern would continue looking at Abigail before offering a smile back.
You need not worry about granting aid, Countess. You need to focus on rebuilding your domain and ensure its prosperity. If anything, know that the Dukedom of Fiyarro and the rest of the Jedi Lords will offer aid to your reconstruction whenever you desire. Serenno must prosper once more, now that peace is soon to be restored.
The Duke bows his head once more. Thoughts had occupied his mind, for a time, concerning the Countess. Yet, Lucien felt now wasn't the time nor the place. It wasn't the right moment. Lady Bruce had her people to heal after all. Malvern would adjust his posture somewhat.
The removal of my troops will begin in 48 hours and be done in a slow manner. We will ensure that your people are in place to replace my own men as we leave. Best not leave holes where rebels could slip through once more. There are still some holdouts remaining on the surface after all.

Abi sat on her throne, her signature crooked smile on her lips. This felt right, being able to rule justly, and provide guidance and leadership for those who needed it. But she knew not to think herself inherently better than her people. She had been lucky to be born into House Bruce. And she now need to use that privilege to better the lives of those around her. Nodding her head toward Lucien, agree with what he had said and acknowledging the time table for his troops to leave. Annandale would finally be free, with no occupying forces, even allied ones. This would be a relief to the citizens across the county. But for now, Abi still wished to contribute.
=Abigail= Very well, our resources shall remain here, with my people. But I will find some way to help our cause.
She had an idea, she had taken classes on ship design while in exile on Naboo. Perhaps it was time to revisit those designs...
=Abigail= But for now, my lord, please rest, for tonight we celebrate, all across Annandale. For Light has banished the Dark. My people and I will feast, and you and yours will join us!

A feast to come. His soldiers and commanders would certainly enjoy that after what they went through to liberate these lands. Majority of his troops had already departed, leaving a token force to keep the lands secure for a time, but Malvern certainly knew that his soldiers would enjoy the sounds and smells of a celebration. Once more, the nobleman bows his head to Countess Bruce.
You are most generous, Countess. I will ensure the attendance of myself and my commanders. While giving some leave to my soldiers to rest and enjoy themselves tonight. I thank you for this offer, Lady Bruce. I know that tonight will be a night to remember... for the people will be free and not have to worry about tyranny.
The Duke then turns slightly to Alesha, Lady Bruce's honored grandmother. Though with a little difficulty, considering the beauty of her granddaughter. Once more, he bows his head, respectably, to the elderly Bruce woman. Certainly she was as pleased as Abigail was, knowing their ancestral lands were free.
Lady Alesha, I hope this will give you ease of mind, knowing that your home is free. Just as all of Serenno will soon be freed.
The Duke turns, again, to face Abigail. Lucien's eyes gazing directly at her, for a moment longer, before he lifts his hand, removing an ornate ring from his finger. Lucien then approaches the throne where Abigail sat, holding the ring out to her. It was a simple gold band with a refined emerald gem upon the middle of it.
Know that Fiyarro is with you as it is with everyone on this world. Committed to a better future, a more unified home, and, above all, to the Light of Ashla. And may that light spread from Serenno to the rest of the galaxy. Take this as a token of that commitment and promise.
The male says as he places the ring within her palm. Then, the Duke Malvern steps back before departing the audience hall.

I let the darkness into my heart. I let me desire for revenge blind me to what I was about to do. Thank you for saving me from myself. Now come, Duke Malvern will be here shortly. Abi then took Aurora to get them both changed into garments more befitting the first meeting in Castle Annandale. Aurora gently gripped Abigail's hands in her own, a more serious expression on her face, while the smallest hint of a smileWe all have moments of weakness my lady... And I swore to be there in yours. To help and protect you. But not just out of a sense of duty, but because... because you are worth saving. And I would gladly do so again, even if it meant I was banished or lost my life. I refuse to lose you... She gave Abi's hands a quick squeeze before nodding and following her Liege Lady off to get changed. One of the guards headed off to collect Aurora's armor and have it taken to the guest room that Aurora would use. Aurora stood close to Abigail's side, wearing a long formal dress in the colours of House Bruce. Smiling when Lord Malvern entered the chamber. Formal events such as these were far from Aurora's favourite things, especially when she had to wear a dress. It made her feel unprotected and vulnerable to attack. Had it not been at Abi's insistence, she would have just changed back into her armour instead of this outfit. So she stood there at her Lady's side, remaining quiet as Abigail and Malvern conversed. Giving a nod when her efforts in organizing the militia were brought up.
While the militia she had formed still had some work to do before they were properly and fully trained and ready, they would prove themselves worthy for the task at hand. And while Lord Malvern may have been an ally, the people were still very wary of outside forces being in their lands after having lived under Derrick's tyranny for so long. Something she hoped would push her forces to be ready and capable of the task they were being given.
Her gaze locked upon Lord Malvern then, as the man accepted the invitation to the dinner before approaching the throne as he removed a ring which he placed in Abigail's hand. She clenched her fist as a strange feeling rose within her then. A feeling she had not experienced personally before, but one she was familiar with in others. Jealousy. Her hand remained clenched and she did not relax at all until Lord Malvern quickly took his leave of the hall. At which point Aurora turned toward AbigailWell... that was interesting...

Vanyla didn't seem to mind her hair being ruffled, in fact her hair looked like it rarely had a comb brought through it, twigs and leaves perhaps, but no comb. Their was an excitement building in her as she looked at the witch with her big green eyes. Fighting every urge to burst out and ask "Could you teach me!?" Fighting to remain respectful and be a good sister. Also she didn't want to overstep her bounds. After all, if this was a rare item, it was likely from Telandra's clan and an heirloom of significant value to her. But she was still fascinated.Well, if you ever want me to introduce you to some of the local birds or other critters, I've made friends with a few. Telandra could feel thee excitement from Vanyla. Her new Sister bursting with energy. She gave a nod in response to the offer then, wondering if perhaps it might not be such a bad idea to make some new friendsI would appreciate that a lot, thank you... For now though, Clan Mother, if it would be alright with you, I could certainly do with some rest and a place to call my own here... Having listened for quite a while to the conversation, Gaelle nodded. "I will order the temple servants to prepare one of the chambers for you", she told Telandra friendly, "We will have much to talk over the course of the next weeks, perhaps even the next months, but as the coven leader and matriarch of this city, I will ensure that you can rest at a place, you can call a home... after all we were once exiles like you as well. Thus I can only return the favor, some of us never enjoyed."
To some point Gaelle was glad, that Telandra was getting along well with the one, she considered her sister-by-blood, despite Vanyla being adopted. Thus she eyed her as well, once she had adressed their guest. "If you want to, Vanyla, you could lead her there and help out, where Telandra needs help", she said then, putting her hand on her shoulder as she looked at her with fond eyes, "I assume since you two are getting along quite well, I might give you some free time to spend with eachother for the moment."

Beaming at the prospect of getting to show her new friend around the temple, Vanyla grabbed her staff and moved over to the door, where she waited, almost bouncing with excitement. She always approached tasks, no matter how mundane, with an infectious enthusiasm. Sometimes this got on the nerves of her fellow witches, but others found it to be a valuable thing to keep spirits up.

Abi blushed a deep crimson as Duke Malvern presented her with his ring. She was shocked into silence for a good few moments, even after he had departed. Looking down at the ring in her hands, the young countess tried to put realize and collect all that this could mean. Even as Aurora spoke, it did not fully stir her from her deep thoughts, though Alesha's voice was also heard from her other side.
=Alesha= That young Duke grew up to be a fine young man.
The venerable Bruce recalled her brief time meeting him as only a small child. Before her and Abi's exile, she had considered arranging a betrothal between the two, to strengthen House Bruce's standing among the other Lordly houses of the planet. But at the moment, Abigail had proven herself capable, and would soon be contributing in other ways to the Jedi Lords.
Abi shook herself from her daze and nodded and smiled to those still in her hall. She decided to put aside these confusing thoughts for now and instead focus on something purely fun and enjoyable.
=Abigail= Time for us to prepare a feast!
=============================================================
The whole of Annandale was closing up shop in order to join in the celebration of the return of the fair rule of House Bruce. Some of the younger among the citizens didn't remember, or were not alive, for the reign of Abi's parents, but their elders had shared the stories of a once prosperous and rich county, that was an envy of her neighbors. All were excited for a return to that, memories of it or only stories.

The festivities were much welcomed by the noblemen, and the Duke Malvern, who had joined on the campaign to liberate the Bruce's domains. Malvern got to know some of the Bruce nobility, knowing that many of them now had a future thanks to Abigail's return. He found them to be pleasant people and grateful for Malvern's aid. Still, tonight wasn't all about politics and Lucien did his best to relax and enjoy. It felt... odd actually to do so. After so many years of conflict, the planet was now coming together, in peace.
The following two days, whole regiments of Malvern's army began to depart. They packed up on transports, both air and land, to begin their slow and strategic withdrawal from these lands. Malvern kept his word and ensured that it was done in an efficient and thorough way. His troops did not leave areas until Lady Bruce deployed her own troops to take over policing responsibilities. Lucien saw to it that the transition was done right.
As the last of the regiments prepared to depart, the Duke would look back at the Bruce's castle. His eyes scanning the area to see if Abigail was watching. His father once tried to arrange a marriage between Abigail and him, something that was negotiated between his good father and Lady Alesha. Lucien watches the troops, for a moment, before heading into the castle. The Duke Malvern had to get this off of his chest now... and so, he sought out either Abigail or Alesha, or perhaps both of them together.

Aurora could not help but feel a stir of worry cause by Abigail's stunned silence and lack of reaction until her Grandmother spoke. The Duke's offered ring having quite a reaction on the Countess. The concern Aurora felt then was not for Abigail's safety, but for something else. She gave a nod and bow when Abigail finally spoke and bid them prepare for the feast
The festivities had left Aurora torn about her feelings toward Lord Malvern. While his aid had indeed been crucial in helping liberate the Bruce family holdings, something even she was grateful for, there was a feeling of unease she felt toward him. She suspected that it was something to do with this growing feeling of jealousy she felt. A feeling she did her best to not let control her, while still recognizing that she felt it. While she did not fully understand the feelings she felt for Abigail, that even now were still growing, Aurora was certain of their inevitable endpoint. Something which would put her in opposition to Duke Malvern in a league which she was well out of her depth for. He had money, lands, power, and prestige that had been built up over generations. And she was little more than a newly raised Baroness. Her family had never held land nor title before.
To say that the following days were something of a small relief as the Duke's armies departed Annandale was an understatement. The militia that Aurora had raised during the reclamation had only continued to grow in the days since Abigail had been crowned Countess. Those that had once fought for House Bruce returned from retirement to serve once more. Allowing Aurora the time needed to train and raise new replacements, while ensuring that Annandale was protected by those loyal to House Bruce.
When the last of Malvern's men were loading up to leave, Aurora stood watching from the Castle. Glad to once more be dressed in her armour which she had discarded up upon that balcony. Fearful that she had failed her family and her oath to Abigail. She was glad to have been proven wrong. However, she would never take pride in her actions nor the reward that they had earned her. Not until her actions and the work she were worthy of the title that Abigail had bestowed upon her.
She watched then, as the Duke headed across the field back toward the castle. Aurora tightened her grip upon the railing of the balcony. She was certain of what was about to happen. Part of her had been dreading it. But she knew it was inevitable and there was nothing she could truly do to stop it. She let go of the balcony and went in search of Abigail

The festivities were lively and bright, even after the sun went down. Abi enjoyed herself the whole time. She laughed, smiled, danced, and even a little bit of tipsy singing. For the night, all was calm and right with the galaxy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But as the next dawn came, so to did the job of governing her reclaimed homeland. Alesha had been sure to educate her in the different parts of governance, and was constantly present at Abi's side. But no amount of learning from books or simulations could have prepared her for what the job was truly like. Reinstating the Barons of her holdings was chief on her list. And finding new Barons to replace those who had turned against her family and sided with Derek. One had been a natural pick, and she was ever grateful for Aurora's constant support.
Abi was sure she saw Duke Malvern off when he and the last of his forces were departing. She had stood at the entrance way to her castle for a few moments, watching them depart. Still puzzling over in her head, what his gesture those few days before could have meant. But she had returned to her throne room, unaware that she was now being sought out by both Aurora and Malvern. They both found her, at the same time, siting on her families throne, speaking with some of her advisers and Alesha. Looking up, as both came in from different doorways, she smiled.
=Abigail= Back so soon, Duke Malvern? Did you forget your toothbrush? And Aurora, you seem to have something on your mind... In fact you both do.

While her traversal down through the castle's many staircases and hallways to the Throne room had not been particularly long, it had granted her time to think. She had a strong feeling of why the Duke had made his way back to the castle. Supported in no small part by the ring that he had given to Abigail just days earlier. Perhaps it was just a simple sign of the continuing alliance between House Malvern and House Bruce going forward. But given his hurried return moments before leaving, all evidence pointed to something else.
Perhaps she was just over thinking it all, spurred on by this growing sense of attraction and attachment she felt. Despite the darkness they had endured, being in Abigail's company was like standing in a ray of sunlight. She felt hopeful and happy. Something Aurora had not felt with anyone else before. Some of the younger recruits had in fact tried to gain her attention and heart over the years of fighting against Derek. But she felt nothing for them beyond a familial love for them as brothers. And since being granted the title of Baroness by Abigail, suitors had already started sending her gifts and trying to gain her hand in marriage.
None had managed to garner Aurora's attention. They only wished to be with her for the title she held and the lands she had been granted. Things she would sooner grant to Lord-Commander Hawke, than any of the try hard Nobles that jostled for her attention. He was an older man, and cared little for lands and titles. He had helped train her when she was younger and had stuck by her side ever since. It was what she respected about him. His unwavering loyalty and disregard for the position she held. He followed her because she was a capable warrior.
But even her relationship with Mikal paled in comparison to the feelings she felt for Abigail. Feelings that were threatening to over come her the longer she remained in silence and said nothing. Even if she did not exactly know what she wanted to say, she knew that if she let it linger any longer it would only end badly. And with that thought, she steeled herself into a course of action as she entered the Throne Room from a side door at the same time as Duke Malvern made his entrance from the main doors.
Her gaze briefly lingered upon and locked with Lucien's, before she turned to look at Abigail as she sat on the Throne. Aurora briefly made note of the small gathering of advisors and Lady Alesha. Doubt started to creep into her thoughts for a moment. But she quickly shook it off as Abigail quickly and correctly stated that Aurora had something on her mind. She knew there was no backing down from this now That is correct... Lady Bruce... no... Abigail, there has been something on my mind for a long time, and I cannot stand by any longer and not say anything... She met Abigail's gaze then. The smile upon her face made Aurora's heart skip a beat and her cheeks to become flush. She took a breath then I know that I am no Duchess, or Marquess, or Countess, nor any other sort of high nobility... In fact, it was not all that long ago that I was little more than an errant Knight fighting against a tyrant until you came along and made me your Bannerwoman, and then granted me the title of Baroness... But there is something I need to say to you, before you speak with Duke Malvern... She raised her right hand up then and placed it in the middle of her chest. Her eyes closing briefly as she gathered her courage to her. Her eyes opened a moment later I know I have nothing that was not granted to me by you. My lands, my title. You gave me them all... But you took something from me in return... From the day I met you, you have plagued my thoughts... I have struggled through the darkest and coldest nights, spent more years than I care to remember fighting, and losing people... But every moment I spend with you makes each day better than the last. Your smile means that everything is alright... I just... I wanted you to know how I feel, not because I need you to feel the same way. But because I would regret not saying anything and remaining silent about it... Because one day, someone is going to walk through those doors and offer you an alliance and marriage that I will never be able to match, let alone beat... But as long as you knew, that.... That is all I wanted to make sure of...

It seemed he wasn't the only one. The Lord Commander barely had time to even speak as Aurora quickly spoke her piece first. The Duke did not say a word, he merely listened and it confirmed his suspicions. Lucien could feel that this newly appointed Baroness felt strongly towards the Countess Bruce, but he wasn't sure if it was admiration or if it was something more. Yet, when she mentioned the words of alliance and marriage that could not be matched, the Jedi knew which of the two it was.
While Aurora had the advantage of speaking first, this gave time for Lucien to consider his words. True, he had quickly moved away from overseeing his troops to rush and speak with the Lady Bruce, but had the man considered his words? No, the Duke had not. Still, the time that Aurora utilized, it gave a pause, a moment, to think.
Lucien remembered how his father had a meeting with Alesha, Abigail's grandmother. He said it was an important one, when young Lucien asked. When he returned, Adrius smiled at his son, ruffled his dark hair, and spoke of what had happened. The discussion of marriage, alliance, etc, politics as it was best described. Yet, Adrius spoke of more than that. He spoke of how Alesha admired him, Lucien, and thought him a good match for her granddaughter, a flower of her youth. Adrius admitted that he believed it was a move to aid the Bruce's politically, but the then Lady Bruce gave off the tone of... a match that would bring happiness. The former Count Malvern knew that these arrangements would happen, but he wanted his son happy just as Adrius was happy with Lucien's mother.
Thus the question was raised after Aurora had finished speaking. Was he Lucien the Duke or Lucien the Man before the Countess Bruce in this moment?
My Lady Bruce.
His voice pierces the silence.
I am not the Duke before you at this moment. For what is man truly when he stands before a woman? He is simply the man, a man born into this world, this universe. Titles simply augment the man... nothing more. They are decorations, honors, awards... I speak as Lucien Malvern, a son of Serenno, not the Duke of Fiyarro.
Lucien says, firmly, as he stands before Abigail, Alesha, and all those within this room. His eyes never waver from her, not even in the slightest. Adrius had taught his son that, as a Jedi, he should not forget his noble duty to Serenno. But as a noble, he should not forget he is a Jedi. Yet, more importantly, he must never forget that he was a son of Serenno above everything else.
I remember when my father came to me after speaking with your honored grandmother. He ruffled my hair, smiled, and had me sit in a chair. My late father told me of marriage, alliance... politics, he joked. Yet, he told me of admiration. Admiration shared between Malvern and Bruce. He said to me 'these arrangements happen because we are nobles. But I would not have agreed to this meeting if I believed, for a second, that you were not going to be happy, my son.'
Lucien pauses for a moment, adjusting his posture slightly. This was a fond memory, one of many, in which Adrius parted knowledge to his beloved son. Knowledge that the late Count believed would help him become the man, the noble, the Jedi he was meant to be.
My father told me of a youth, a spring beauty, a young girl who had been put forth. He told me of how... my mother was arranged too. She was arranged to marry him, to bare him sons and daughters, and so forth. Yet, Adrius came to love my mother as did she to him. She was his pillar, his companion, his adviser, his beloved wife to the very end of his days. That is why... my dear mother passed on, only a week after.
Lucien recalled those quiet days. How his mother had changed suddenly, illness struck, and she refused any medicine. She simply wanted to join his father and live at peace. She was granted that peace in the end... how love could break all barriers.
He told me that a wife is to be loved, to be cared for, and more. She is to be the pillar that holds the roof, the foundation in which children can thrive, the most honest of advice in his ear, and the one companion that he can always trust... Adrius believed that you, Lady Bruce, could be that woman to me. Someone who could make all my days shine and ensure all my fears are nothing in your warm embrace.
The Duke then kneels, bending one knee before Lady Bruce. His armor clinking as his did so.
I do not seek more lands. I do not seek additional titles. I do not seek to advance any agenda. For titles, wealth, influence... they do not buy emotions! They do not bound families together! As the Duke, I can offer so much, but have little meaning. As the man, I can offer little, but it can mean so much. That is why I speak as the son of Serenno to a daughter of the home we share, Lady Bruce.
Lucien looks at Alesha for a moment before turning his gaze once more to Abigail.
I wish... to renew the chance of having you as my pillar, my companion, my adviser, and all that we can be. I offer my heart, my hearth, and my life to share with you, in good and bad times. Lady Bruce, I ask for your hand... not because my father nor your grandmother believed as such... but because my heart desires it.

"If you want to, Vanyla, you could lead her there and help out, where Telandra needs help", she said then, putting her hand on her shoulder as she looked at her with fond eyes, "I assume since you two are getting along quite well, I might give you some free time to spend with eachother for the moment." Beaming at the prospect of getting to show her new friend around the temple, Vanyla grabbed her staff and moved over to the door, where she waited, almost bouncing with excitement. She always approached tasks, no matter how mundane, with an infectious enthusiasm. Sometimes this got on the nerves of her fellow witches, but others found it to be a valuable thing to keep spirits up. Telandra gave a bow as Gaelle stated that a room would be set up and that there would be much to discuss in the coming weeks and months. But that Torvus would become the home that many of Gaelle's kin lacked when they were exiledThank you Clan Mother... Your kindness is not something I will soon be able to repay... But I will try my hardest as thanks... She gave a low formal bow, before heading off over toward the door where Vanyla was waiting. In her rush to flee Dathomir, Telandra had been unable to bring any personal possessions with her aside from what she wore. In all her time on Serenno she had purchased little beyond the necessities for living. After all, she was a stranger on this world with no true place to call home. Thus, she had no personal items to collect before following the younger Witch. She smiled at Vanyla and motioned aheadLead on Vanyla... I'm sure I can handle a little more exploration before I need some rest...

Abi was shocked as she was suddenly felt like she was being pulled in two different directions. Her affections being sought by two of her closest friends and allies. She stood from her throne, as if to say something. Her usual poise and courtly demeanor seemed, for the first time, to show cracks as she opened her mouth as if to say something, but words failed her. Her eyes and head moved between the two suitors. But as she seemed to physically start to shake, she bolted from the room, past her attendants and guards, heading for her room, where she would lock herself in, for a time. She hadn't noticed it. How had she not noticed it? She could have kicked herself for being so blind. The young noble sat on the edge of her bed and looked into her hands, as if hoping an answer would magically appear their.
After the door to the great hall had closed behind Abi, Alesha turned to the Duke and Baroness. Their was a fire in her old eyes, one seen of a mother rancor protecting her young. Her kindly wrinkled face was twisted in frustration as she took deep, angry breaths. As she spoke, it was with the cutting tone of an angry school teacher and mother all in one. Her finger she wielded as if it were a weapon itself.
=Alesha= Well. I hope you two are proud of yourselves! My dear granddaughter has been ruling her lands, from the seat her murdered mother had, for no more than a month, and you think now is a good time to confess your feelings for her? And to do so one after the other, and in front of the whole Court! Shame! She crossed over toward the door Abi had disappeared through. But before she herself went after her granddaughter, she turned once more to the two she had been scolding like school children. I and the Countess appriciate the work you have both done to restore our home, but I suggest you both leave this castle. Word will be sent when my granddaughter has your answers. Good day. She then took her leave through the door, followed by two of the House Bruce guardsmen. The other three guards would escort Lucien and Aurora out of the castle.

There was nothing to say, nothing to even remotely ponder. Their confessions had done something to Lady Bruce and Lucien felt rather terrible about it. From the moment Abigail left abruptly, the Duke felt a sinking feeling within his whole being. It wasn't that there was no immediate answer, but rather the reaction of the young Bruce, followed by the justified retort from the Dowager Mother. There was not a sign of resistance, but rather a silent acceptance as the Duke Malvern rose and made his way out of the castle.
Lucien proceeds out of the doors, taking a slight glance back when the doors shut. The Duke's eyes slowly began to look upward, but he stopped himself. The male reaches up, lightly rubbing his wrist, something the male tended to do when contemplating. His glance looked to his right as Aurora had been escorted out of the castle too. No ill will was felt toward the woman who had been a loyal retainer and follower of the Countess. Instead, only a few words were given.
Take good care of her as you have always done. I know you will be closer than I if she needs it.
The Duke says before proceeding down the steps of the castle, making his way to where the active movement of his army was seen before the Bruce's ancestral keep. Lucien, for now, decides to let the hum and drum of army consume his thoughts. Better that than the sinking feeling within him... yet that would likely remain with him all the way to Fiyarro.

Post by Aurora Valhalla [RETIRED] on Mar 1, 2020 3:51:08 GMT -8
The shame had already sunk in the moment she had finished speaking and Malvern had begun. And it was all compounded a few moments later as Abigail bolted from the room to the safety of her own chambers. This was not how Aurora had wanted this to happen. She should have held her remained and remained silent, letting Malvern make his feelings known and spoken with Abigail in private. But such manners were not a thing Aurora had been given much time to learn about. Her life had been filled with fighting as a warrior, never knowing what the next day might bring or whether she would be alive in days or weeks from that moment.
But the misstep she had taken was all to obvious, even to her. She was already scolding herself when Alesha rose from her seat and spoke. Further compounding the built and shame she had already felt. She waved the guards off and escorted Malvern out of the castle, her head hung low. So far, she had made for a rather poor excuse of a successor to her family's lineage. She was not about to exacerbate the situation as she followed alongside Malvern out of the main doors, which were closed rather sharply behind them. The guards clearly having been informed that neither Aurora nor Malvern were currently welcomed guests.
She braced her hands upon her hips and tossed her head back, looking up at the sky in frustration for a moment. She let out a disgruntled sigh before lowering her gaze and turning toward Lucien. Another sigh escaping her lips as he spoke, requesting she look after Abigail since she would be closest one to the Countess That, my Lord, is what I fear and dread most about all of this... You can spirit yourself away to your castle where she does not have to see you daily... But I will serve her to the best of my abilities as I swore an oath to do... Good luck with the Circle... Aurora followed down the stairs not far behind Malvern. But as he headed off to follow his departing army, Aurora got into her landspeeder and sped off across the plains toward the makeshift outpost camp. It had served as her residence while rebuilding works were being conducted across all of Annandale, including her official seat of Dunbar. It allowed her to co-ordinate the efforts of the various House Bruce forces that were being reinstated, while also keeping close to the Countess. A fact she was less than pleased with right now, as she brought the landspeeder to a halt outside of her tent.
Her gaze lingered upon the Castle across the plains for a moment. Right now, it was the one place she was the least welcome to be. A thought that consumed her as she turned from the view and headed through the flaps of her tent. Lord-Commander Hawke and a number of advisors were waiting around a command table within. Their discussion suddenly halting at her rather abrupt and unexpected appearance. She had been expected to still spend several more hours at the Castle, discussing strategy and overseeing the final withdrawal of Malvern forces from Annandale. Mikal raised an eyebrow questioningly at her My Lady, we didn't expect you back so soon...
Everyone out! Now! Aurora kept on marching through the tent toward a training area as she started to remove her armour. The advisors panicked and looked to Mikal, before the man motioned for them to be dismissed. Aurora had stripped down to just her body suit as the last advisor left, before discarding even that. Leaving her in a sports bra and thigh-length leggings. Without warning, she started striking the punching bag repeatedly and fiercely. Drawing a sigh from the Lord-Commander as he made his way across the room That good of a meeting was it... Aurora gave a grunt of acknowledgement as she only punched the bag harder, throwing in a couple kicks and knees. Mikal moved around to be within her line of sight. His gaze fixed upon Aurora's face as she huffed and puffed from the exertion. He had raised Aurora for almost all of her life once her parents had been killed. He didn't need the Force to be able to read her mind after all of that time The Countess accepted Duke Malvern's proposal for a marriage? Aurora gaze no verbal response, instead throwing a right hook into the upper portion of the punching bag then. Mikal braced the back then, holding it still as Aurora continued to beat into it Or you braved up enough to finally tell the Countess how you really feel about her? She slammed her fist into the punching bag and held it there. A bright red blush suddenly lighting up her face as she hung her head forward. The Lord-Commander had finally hit his mark I take it she did not feel the same way? Aurora let a frustrated sigh then, kicking the bag before grabbing onto it to support herself. The effort of the last few seconds finally catching up to her. She would never understand how Mikal could read her so easily without the Force. The fact he was so good at it contributed to why she kept him around I don't know... ARGH! She slammed her fist into the punching bag once more. Feeling the sense of shame and regret boiling within her once more I was watching Duke Malvern's departure, when he turned back and headed for the Castle... I knew his intent... It had been clear from the day he had presented that ring to Lady Abigail. And... I just couldn't help myself Mikal... I made my way down to find her, to try and speak with her first... But by the time I found her, she was with her grandmother and advisors and then Malvern was there as well... I hesitated for a moment. But Abigail could already sense there was something on my mind and I... I made a fool of myself... I professed my feelings for her in front of everyone... And then Malvern spoke of how he felt and... Abigail started to shake and fled the room... Alesha was unimpressed and banished both of us from the castle...
Aurora... He let go of the bunching bag then and pulled her into a hug. Aurora wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her face against his chest. The look of disappointment in his face had been there for only a few moments, before morphing into one of fatherly love and care. His arms wrapped around her shoulders and held her tightly My dear child... I'm sorry... I raised you to be a warrior, but I never prepared you to be a lady... life in politics is a far more dangerous battlefield than any we fought on in the past...
Mikal... What if... What if I messed everything up for real this time... First with Derek, and now this... What if she never wants to see me again...
Hush... You will drive yourself crazy with such thoughts. You cannot live your life worrying about what may or may not happen... For now, you just have to wait. Keep your focus on what needs to be done...
I... I cannot face the court, nor am I welcome to the Castle...
I shall act in your stead then, until you receive your answer... Ok? Aurora gently squeezed Mikal, pressing her cheek into his chest. She knew she could trust Mikal to do what she couldn't right now, just as he had always done in the past Thank you...

It was a hard time for Abigail. She had to hold court the next morning, without her loyal friend, Aurora. Her friend, who had seemingly fallen in love with her without her even knowing. And not to mention, she no longer had Lucien and his experience to call on. It felt like she was alone. But there was also a weight on her shoulders now. She felt as though both were owed an answer. And it seemed her court agreed, for over the next several days, those in attendance to her court were awkward; dancing around words, names, and some even not meeting her eye. Spending time in her room, usually in council with Alesha, the young woman found her path. One that would hopefully not further strain her relationship with either Aurora or Lucien. She penned a letter to each. Saying that she would be traveling to Saffia soon, to discuss the next steps for the Lords of Serenno. Abi expressed that she would like to meet both of them there to discuss the events of their last visit. Wishing them both well and safe travels, she sealed the letters and had them sent. Now she felt a new weight, the burden of waiting...
