I’ll see you there... Harnan made his way across the hangar bay, headed for the bridge of the Ad Glorium. His black armour clad form was enough to send Stormtroopers and Naval officers alike scrambling out of his way. Even if they had not seen the Knight of Ren before, plenty of stories circulated through the ranks about him. A man clad in black armour, and his foul temper.
Regardless of how accurate their stories were, Harnan found they worked to ward off any unwanted interruptions. The doors to the bridge opened before him, before he casually joined the gathering group of commanders. His gaze crossing over the group, recognising some of them by past encounters, and others by name or Rank alone, as he took a position as far from Nicademus as he could find

A single TIE/vn Silencer dropped out of hyperspace near to the gathering collection of ships. Kortos weaved the starfighter through the tangle of capital ships. When he’d gotten his orders to head to Taris in preparation to smash the Galactic Alliance, Kortos had not quite expected anything on this scale. He knew the might of the First Order, and what it was capable of. But seeing a portion of its power gathered here like this. It was a breathtaking experience.
He pulled a hard turn and slipped into one of the hangar bays of the Ad Glorium, setting down just near to where the Larties has landed that bore Faina. Kortos exited the starfighter a few moments later, clad in his full Imperial Knight gear. Giving the Grandmaster a quick nod in greeting Afternoon...

Xeonon Solomon On one of the observation decks, Nicademus gazes out at the gathering fleet. The largest to be seen since the Unknown Region Campaigns and the heart of the Third Galactic Civil War. The Emperor leans forward, placing his forearm against the viewport as his eyes examined the drifting warships; Pellaeons, Imperials, Resurgents and a myriad of support craft. After a while, his eyes glance at the Praetorian Guards present, the silent champions and protectors of the Emperor's person. He turns to those present and waves at them, dismissing them all save one. The champion of them all. They did not argue, they did not retort, the others simply filed out and went to guard the doorway into the observation room. Nicademus looks at the undisputed champion among the Praetorians. You may remove your helmet and break your oath of silence, Xeonon. I could use an old colleague of mine to speak with. Once the others had left the room Xeonon removed his helmet. Underneath he was pale from the lack of sun, the shiny red of the armour in deep contrast of his white skin. No longer did he look like the Xeonon of before, after the proceedings that led to his "death" he had hired a discrete man to alter his face. Again. Bald he only wore a paid of sideburns that ran from the top of his ears to just before his chin, appearing the whitest shade of blonde almost matching his skin tone. Placing his helmet under his right arm Xeonon salutes Nicademus by bringing his left first up to his chest.
Looking beyond the man he saw the many ships outside and nearly burst with pride. Since a young age Xeonon had strove to help bring Imperial rule to the galaxy. It was sorely needed, and they were close to achieving that goal. Closer than any Imperial had come in living memory. What do you need of me sir? It was the first time Xeonon had spoken to another person outside the helmet in a long time and it put some strain on his vocal cords. The vow of silence was necessary, if anyone had found out about him still being alive the Emperor would have a few questions to answer. Even amoung his fellow Praetorians he had never spoken outside the voice modulation in his suit and even then sparingly.

Kortos exited the starfighter a few moments later, clad in his full Imperial Knight gear. Giving the Grandmaster a quick nod in greeting Afternoon... "Kortos, Faina greets her fellow Imperial Knight with a nod of her own. Gesturing towards Lieutenant Colonel Foresi, she introduces the ebony armored Shadowtrooper to the red armored Imperial Knight, Kortos, Lieutenant Colonel Foresi, commander of the Emperor's Talons battalion that we will be working with for this mission. The Stormtrooper sent to escort her to the Emperor arrives shortly after she has made the introductions, and Faina says, If you will both excuse me, I will find you before the battle," and then bows before turning to follow the Stormtrooper.

"You have led us all here, to this day, Faina says after she and Nicadmeus have been silent in the wake of his truncated comment about reflecting on where they have come, and by extension what the First Order has accomplished, once more neither using his name or title so that she addresses him as both Emperor and a friend, or as near to such a thing as she and he can be given who and what they are to one another. And, Faina says, thinking of how, even when her personal faith and belief in her vocation was tested, it was her unshakable trust and belief in Nicademus and his vision for the First Order that kept her from losing either and ultimately strengthened them, it is you, your vision for the First Order, that we will all be fighting for today, and all the days in the future when you call upon us to fight so that your vision for the First Order is realized and endures the test of time." Nicademus gazes out at the fleet for a bit longer as Faina spoke. When the Galactic Alliance falls, a new era will dawn on this galaxy. The Republic was destroyed for neglecting its galactic role and being decadent to its very core. And now, we are proving that the Galactic Alliance never learned from its predecessor.Though Nicademus was not force sensitive, he could feel the galaxy shifting and changing around the countless stars that existed within this galaxy. The rules were changing, the status quo was irrevocably altered and the galaxy would forever be changed. Such a movement within the galaxy had long been foreseen by the Emperor when the First Order instigated the Galactic Civil War, but it was becoming more and more evident. In a ways, the Imperial felt he was seeing history repeat itself, but from a different perspective. His nation was where the New Republic of old once was after the Battle of Endor while the Galactic Alliance represented the fragile and fracturing Old Empire.Once this is over, the galaxy will have changed and we must change with it, Faina. What do you think the future of the First Order should be after Mon Calamari?=================================================== It was the first time Xeonon had spoken to another person outside the helmet in a long time and it put some strain on his vocal cords. The vow of silence was necessary, if anyone had found out about him still being alive the Emperor would have a few questions to answer. Even amoung his fellow Praetorians he had never spoken outside the voice modulation in his suit and even then sparingly. Xeonon... Gabriel would hardly notice you right now. You look like as pale as Taris's moon at night. It was odd to see his old colleague be voided of pigment, but this was the life that the Solomon had accepted. A life sworn by an oath of silence and hidden by a crimson helmet. Nicademus felt this was good, nonetheless, for the Emperor had another trusted person at his side and one who he could speak to plainly and discuss with at length. With Xeonon back at his side, the Imperial felt more safe and confident in his visions.Xeonon, the galaxy has been irrevocably changed and, once the Galactic Alliance is soundly defeated, one of our greatest achievements will be made known. So I must ask you, as one who has seen the galaxy at large and has served Empires before, what do you think the direction of the First Order should be towards the future?=================================================== Harlan Petrovsky [Retired] Jenia Kasalle @ishild Garrick Needa Merrik Piett The Emperor acknowledges the comment made by Garrick and returns crisp salutes to each of his commanding officers. The only emblazoned icon on his person was that of the First Order; a black-toothed maw with red interior. He recalled telling Garrick how the Imperial only deserved to wear one honor upon his person and that was the emblem upon his shoulders.

New and old officers, all well known within the Imperial Navy and Army for their reputations and sound leadership. None present would panic in a battle nor become lazy and decadent. As always Xeonon found it odd that the most powerful man in the galaxy would ask for his advice. It was true that they had known each other for a great many years but the lack of formality was at odds with the way he had been trained. Experience he assumed. Not only had he been a part of several Empires but prior to Nicademus arriving in the Deep Core he had tried to hold the Imperial Remnants together. It was a stroke of luck he arrived. A stroke of luck that had led to this moment.
I have known you for how many years now? If there is thing I have learned about you over all these years it is that you are a conqueror. After this battle once the Galactic Alliance falls it will be a different universe with no one to oppose you in the same fashion.
Gathering his thoughts Xeonon remained silent for a full minute trying to figure out the best way to phrase his thoughts.
Peace. There will be a lot of worlds out there without protection, and the lawlessness will creep into those systems. Not only that but shortages, hoarding, famine. I have seen some of the more forceful ways those in the Empire try to ensure command and respect over their worlds. Force is needed but too much of it and it will lead to anger, resentment and rebellion. You studied Jagged Fel correct? He had a doctrine called Victory Without War. Once this war is truly finished you, we he motioned to the fleet assembled out the viewport, need to reach out to those worlds leaders and bring them peacefully into this Empire. Those that say no will eventually change their minds even if it takes a generation. At this point we can only become stronger the longer the Empire lasts.

We will then strike right at the heart with the fleet over Taris presently. With that information granted, the Emperor allowed a paused so that the officers could digest the given information as Nicademus prepared to speak of the tactical plan for Mon Calamari's attack. Rear Admiral Kasalle mused briefly over what she had heard, being so far to relieved that Intel has once again surveyed the situation well enough to give them a rough overview over the enemy forces. Sine her meeting with Sigil and him having blown the cover of two Alliance spies on board of the Banshee Jenia felt more comfortable about the knowledge, which the Imperial Intelligence provided to them, as it had saved her fleet in the past already.
Yet she agreed silently with the Emperor as usual regarding his warning of not underestimating the enemy. She had told this to most of her captains as well, while having taught at least one of their captains this lesson straight away within the Rendili system, when she maneuvered one of her Vindicator-cruisers out of a pirate corvette's range in order to protect the engines, which they intended to aim. Within Galactic Alliance space though, her new officers would probably have to learn this lesson the hard way, as she hardly knew most of them. Some where familiar to her, as she brought them with her to the Holocron, but the rest came from different Imperial ships. The Rear Admiral knew, while mustering the holo table that she can definitly save the Holocron if she had to, definitly can also save one or two escort ships. But this was war. And war would always end with losses, no matter how hard she would try. Yet she could reduce the losses as best as possible within her position, as her orders would decide over life and death. Given the reports about Naboo this was not the case with the fleet there. Jenia has learnt on the Academy enough from Thrawn's tactics to realize that he was one out of few men in Imperial history, who cared for his subordinates to a certain degree. Especially her TIE pilots had to trust on this, so she wouldn't disappoint them. Thus, no pointless rush-in, no abbandoning of allied forces by the means of ill-thought planning like it was the case with the officer, who orchestrated Naboo. Jenia knew that the Emperor had plans and enforcing them, would as well guarentee the safety of her troops and the citizens of the galaxy.
She nearly sighed, reminding herself that she was still in conference. Although the Emperor was probably right, it was unlikely that they would destroy the Galactic Alliance that easily, just by striking them within the core of their territory. Resistance against the First Order would always be organized by these treacherous politicians, who had caused the downfall of the Galactic Empire under Palpatine. They allies, the Jedi, would probably attempt to strike back, once word will reach them within their rumored enclaves and probably endanger the territories of the First Order, thus also the citizens as well. Jenia would gladly welcome the end of those terrorists and traitors, but the siege of Dac would only be one of the first steps to do so.
And if this step, along with the next ones were executed carefully and well, then there was a good chance to restore peace to the galaxy once and for all under the banner of the rightful successor of the Empire.

Garrick was a bit taken aback, though he didn’t let it show. He was expecting something bold, but this was more than that. Reckless, he’d call it. Even with the meagre defenses that the Alliance had managed to assemble, this was still an incredibly risky move. And, in his opinion, bad strategy. The last time one of these lighting strikes occurred, in his memory, was at the Battle of Coruscant, and he was there. He knew how that ended. And the Imperial Star Destroyer was not well designed for such strikes, more like slow, frontline assaults. Their reasources could better be used to launch an assault that would sweep through from the Unknown Regions. Perhaps utilizing their allies, the Chiss. But this was mad. If things went wrong, there would be no escape for anyone, the First Order would be rendered defenseless and leaderless, and would most likely collapse to insurgency.
Garrick could be considered a very conservative admiral. Never taking any overt risks. Preferring more classical strategies to destroy his enemies. Slowly and steadily. Perhaps it wasn’t as daring, or glorious, or quite as much of the spectacle as raiding Dac, but he had seen too many of these strategies fail during his time in the Navy. He seriously objected to this plan, but he wouldn’t say anything. Yet. Not until Nicademus had a chance to explain the plan in greater detail.

Harnan hadn’t been sure what to really expect from Nicademus’ briefing. Maybe a long speech about the greatness of the First Order. Throw backs to his greatest hits about the Empires ever expanding might. And maybe a half decent plan on how to invade the Galactic Alliance. Suffice to say, he hit all of those points. But the expressions on some of those around the room seemed to not instill the usual confidence that followed such a break down.
Between the recent invasion of Dathomir, which the Galactic Alliance has left unopposed, and the raid upon Felucia, which had seen the Jedi’s head base of operations left in a smoking mess. Now was the perfect time to strike the Galactic Alliance. The Jedi would be incapable of retaliating properly, and what ever forces remained of the Alliances fleets would be gathered and ripe for the picking. He almost had to laugh as he considered the situation he found himself in. For once, he was probably more confident than half of the First Order officers I’m.... well I wouldn’t say impressed... but... no, admiration is too strong a word here... good plan. Let’s just leave it at that... Without the Jedi at full strength, Dac is a much easier target right now. Maybe we’ll get lucky...

Nodding Panno absentmindedly checked out the mans armour looking for any flaws in it. If the rumours were right they would be engaging in a pretty large battle and any damage would leave the new Imperial Knight vulnerable.
Yeah a few Imperial Knights boarded at the same time as the Emperor I was lucky enough to be amoung them. No complaints about the armour so far?

Kortos was not the least bit surprised Panno had been close by to the Emperor. If anything, he couldn't say he knew of a time that Panno had ventured far from Nicademus' side. But then, he had been pretty busy himself with a handful of missions here and there. In response to Panno's inquiry about his armour, Kortos gave a quick stretch to make sure there was nothing to complain about None so far.. I'm still alive, so there is that... So, do you know where we're headed? I got a message summoning me to Taris, and that was it...

You did just miss a rousing speech by the Emperor himself.
Panno had indeed been inspired by the speech as had many others who heard it. Although he had avoided cheering and chanting alongside the others near him when he heard it even now he still felt the nationalism beating in his heart.
But he never said where we were going but I am willing to bet that it's already been leaked to the Alliance though. Wherever we are headed it is going to be ready for us and the fighting is going to be thick. Honestly besides coming to see you I have been pretty busy working on the personal armour of the Emperor, it seems he is going to be joining us in more than name on this one.
Having served the man for more than a decade he was always surprised to see him on the front lines with his men. Every time he feared for the mans life and every time he came away in one piece. This time Panno would ensure that he would come back alive.

Gentlemen and ladies, we stand here on the verge of a resounding victory . . . Two days before the operation begins, at 1300 hours precisely, Imperial fleets, hidden in the Unknown Region, will strike out at Galactic Alliance space. Their main targets are Lianna, Jabiim, and Raxus Prime. Their objectives will be to tie down any and all assets within the Galactic Alliance that could be of help to the defense of Mon Calamari. We will then strike right at the heart with the fleet over Taris presently. With that information granted, the Emperor allowed a paused so that the officers could digest the given information as Nicademus prepared to speak of the tactical plan for Mon Calamari's attack. Ishild's expression remains impassive even though she feels a surge of pride when Nicademus explains what she and the others summoned to the Emperor's briefing have been chosen for. Listening as Nicademus goes on to explain the plan to tie up Alliance forces on other worlds prior to the strike on Mon Calamari, Ishild purses her lips as she considers the potential unknown variables involved in such a course of action, ultimately deciding that in light of the information they have been given thus far, the plan is a tactically sound one. Nicademus, in her estimation, has proven himself time and time again to be a decisive and bold leader, not given to rash action; and so she refrains from comment for the time being.
A brief, faint moue of distaste disturbs her otherwise stoic expression when the Knight of Ren, clearly believing such things as decorum and tact when speaking to their Emperor do not apply to him, speaks of luck, and yet Ishild again makes no comment; while, in her opinion, the influence of luck on the outcome of a battle seldom outweighs that of skill, planning, surprise and innumerable other factors that can be more directly controlled, she sees no need to interrupt the briefing to make her opinion known.

Once this is over, the galaxy will have changed and we must change with it, Faina. What do you think the future of the First Order should be after Mon Calamari? Faina is silent for a moment after Nicademus poses his question to her, looking out at the fleet and the vast sea of stars around it for a moment before she replies. Her voice hesitant, hinting at her reservation to offer an opinion on a matter she feels Nicademus is far better suited than she to analyse and navigate successfully, Faina says, "I think that a shift from expansion to stabilization would best ensure the First Order does not repeat the mistakes of other empires. With the Galactic Alliance out of the picture, there should be more time and resources to expend on prevention of the . . . internal strife and kinds of decadence and abuse of power that could become a rot within that poses just a great a threat as any external enemies that might appear could present."
Her tone is less cautious, Faina having come as close as she feels is prudent to suggesting that some of the allies, particularly those with ties to the Darkside of the Force, the First Order has gathered to it might bear close watch over going forward, as she concludes, "I think that more diplomatic overtures, backed by the proven prowess of our military and naval forces, to worlds that are not yet controlled could also help pave the way for a bright and long future for the First Order. The threat of the Jedi will always exist, but they have historically shown a pronounced reluctance to intervene when conquest comes as the result of diplomacy rather than force."

Disembarking from the shuttle that has brought her to the Ad Glorium's hangar bay, Katsumi Ren pauses for a moment at the foot of the boarding ramp to offer Panno Grai'Tal an ever so slight and subtle nod of greeting before she continues on her way out of the hangar bay and deeper into the bowels of the Ad Glorium. There may come a day when a Knight of Ren and an Imperial Knight might openly associate with one another without inviting discord, but Katsumi suspects that, today, she would do Panno no favor by speaking with him whilst he is in the company of his fellow Imperial Knights.
Ever practicing and honing her skills, Katsumi beckons the Force to her as she journeys with no apparent destination through the corridors of the Ad Glorium, bidding it to conceal her from the eyes and ears of all those she passes by as she haunts the vast warship like an unseen wraith, occasionally employing subtle telepathic suggestion to further deter any detection of her presence. She senses, as she wanders, her brother Harnan, aboard the great vessel as well, though, aside from a brief telepathic greeting to make him aware that she has been tasked with joining the endeavor which has brought them all here, Katsumi does not disturb him from the briefing he attends further.

Harlan Petrovsky [Retired] Jenia Kasalle @ishild Garrick Needa Merrik Piett Harnan Ren Nicademus hears the voice of Harnan, somewhere off to his right. While it was evident that others turned their gaze towards the Knight of Ren, the Emperor himself did not. He wondered if the Knight of Ren was being serious or not, however, considering their interactions, the Imperial put his money on the latter. The strategy session had only spoken of the broad picture so far, after all. Nicademus was more concerned with what his commanders said about the battle plan involving Dac. He waves his hand calmly as the holomap of the Galactic Alliance space moves in and focuses on Dac itself. With the cooperation of the Quarren League, Dac will be crippled. His spies and agents sent to the planet had reported on the success of this venture. The Quarrens were willing to side with Imperial forces and the cause in order to reclaim a planet that they had viewed was rightful theirs. Though there were elements unwilling to do so, there were others more than willing to rise up with the Imperials. It would certainly put the defensive forces over and on Dac in a slight predicament; fighting both a planetary revolt and a planetary invasion. The fleet will be divided into three main battlegroups, the two flanks containing fifteen Star Destroyers each, while the center flank will contain the flagship. The Right Fleet will be commanded by Harlan Petrovsky. The Left Fleet will be commanded by Garrick Needa. Admiral Sauer will be the deputy commander of the High Admiral himself while Admiral Kasalle will be deputy to Admiral Needa. I will be placed in the center of the formation.Slowly, the map appears, reveal the icons of the invasion fleet. Respective command stars were placed upon the vessels commanded by the four Admirals noted by the Emperor. With those in place, the sequence begins to move forward. We will be utilizing an Arrowhead formation in this battle, with the center flank leading the charge. A wise man once told me that if an Emperor cannot lead from the front, his men will not follow him. Our forward charge will be meant to blitz our way to the atmosphere of Dac utilizing superior firepower and cohesion. All squadrons know their roles and preassigned duties. I will not let our enemy get the chance to regroup nor to keep their ranks in order. We must break throught and break them to the very core with our attack.Nicademus looks up at those gathered before speaking further. We must hit them hard and strike decisively in this battle. I have never done such a maneuver before in my life, but I feel confident in this attack formation. I would be wary if I had anyone in my ranks whose skill and command I could not rely upon fully. Do your duties, show your skill, and let your reputations be known... and we will achieve our ultimate victory over Dac.Peace. Nicademus returns his gaze to the fleet, digesting the words of Xeonon. He was right about one thing, peace. The First Order had been at war and throughout many battlefields since it was founded. Battle ensured his troops and commanders were seasoned and alert, peace would give them time to rest. Yet the Emperor feared that the sharp blade would become dull with peace. The Empire was built on the principles of discipline, martial rule and enforced order, Xeonon. I fear many within the Empire will not like the change from war to peace. They have made their names through battle and my soldiers have become seasoned as a result. I fear that the sharp blade that is this Empire will become dull with a more peaceful policy implemented. The Emperor could only imagine the arguments and warhawk factions that could rise as a result of this change. Perhaps this was a necessary trial, a trial to see if his Empire was meant to truly endure as Nicademus had planned it to be. An Empire that could be passed onto Octavian.However... I do fear that my son will not be the great commander that I would envision. It is always that the successor of a new Empire is overshadowed by his predecessor. A founder is the greatest of rulers, a pillar unlike any to come after. I have long wondered if my son will be a martial emperor or an emperor of peace. Would he seek to preserve what I built or expand upon it? This question is the reason why I am considering the next step for the First Order, Xeonon. The Empire must be ready for my son when he takes the mantle one day."I think that more diplomatic overtures, backed by the proven prowess of our military and naval forces, to worlds that are not yet controlled could also help pave the way for a bright and long future for the First Order. The threat of the Jedi will always exist, but they have historically shown a pronounced reluctance to intervene when conquest comes as the result of diplomacy rather than force." Nicademus chuckles lightly for a moment. His mind reflecting on the conversation earlier made with Xeonon, who was still among them. The Emperor smiles at the Grandmaster, one of the few times he ever did. In fact, perhaps, he had not smiled since the day his son and daughter were born. That seemed like yesterday, but it that was a lie.You are the second person to say that, Faina. The second person to say that I must turn to more peaceful ways than the warlike beginnings and path that the First Order presently takes. This Empire was built on the martial traditions set down by my actions and my will. I fear such a radical change would upset my commanders and make my soldiers lazy and ineffective. A sharp blade must not be dulled, Faina... yet it will become dull if I continue to war. It's edge eroding with each strike... it is hard to change the core with such a radical reform. The best way of which is to implement slowly perhaps.Nicademus looks out at the fleet, turning quietly away from Faina.Tell me, Faina, do you know of the 'Victory Without War' program?

Harlan Petrovsky [Retired] Jenia Kasalle @ishild Garrick Needa Merrik Piett Harnan Ren Nicademus hears the voice of Harnan, somewhere off to his right. While it was evident that others turned their gaze towards the Knight of Ren, the Emperor himself did not. She eventually took a look on the holographic map now herself, as she kinda pondered about the strategy, while hoping that it would turn out well. After all they were the First Order - whatever the Galactic Alliance would threw against them, the fleet would in the end survive it, even if ships will be lost.
To some point she wondered how well recieved the tactic would be among the present officers. It was a mere formation, where she only hoped that Nicademus would be right. Of course he had to be, as after all he was the Emperor! And yet she pondered already about the enemy being able to somehow thwart the planning somehow. Thus she was wondering whether some of the present members, who were higher ranked than her would express doubt or support in it. Yet she would wait, nodding only briefly with a respectful look towards Admiral Needa in order to show, that she was accepting the command of the Emperor. Needa himself was already a well known veteran and a present commander within the fleet, when she graduated just at the academy. Serving under him felt to her like an honor, as she kinda wondered how his style of command would be.

Do your duties, show your skill, and let your reputations be known... and we will achieve our ultimate victory over Dac. This tactic was a relatively tried and true method of victory, even if it was relatively unoriginal. Assuming a fleet didn’t come out behind them, they would hopefully be able to pierce the defenses of the enemy in an Ackbar Slash like maneuver. That’s how he intended to get the men under his command through anyhow. He had under his command fifteen Imperial-Class Star Destroyers, including the Crusader, and a number of heavy cruisers and lesser vessels. Ideal for the sort of plan he had in mind on the micro level. Though the overall strategy was dictated by this doctrine, it left room for some more inventive strategies within each formation. So long as they could pass behind the enemy lines, they would be safe. The greatest strength of the MC-140 Cruisers were the massive scythes on the front of the ship, lined with weapons. If you were attacking one of these ships dead on, it would rip you to pieces. However, simply avoiding the direct line of fire of the ships would be enough to win.
However, that didn’t change he fact that he still disagreed with the overall idea of the attack. This would leave them open to far too many possibilities for failure. If any fleets jumped in behind them, they would be cut to pieces. Though others might disagree, history was on the Admiral’s side. Such a move was very bold, with large rewards, but large risk as well. The Imperial Navy was not designed for this; rather, it was better suited to a frontline campaign, rather than sneaking past enemy lines. These youngsters didn’t know the sort of things that had happened in the past when such strategies were employed. True, he may have been a cynic. And true that he may have been a relic of an age long gone by, but he still had yet to lose. And he felt as though these officers did not understand the fact that this gamble was not worth it.
And that brought him to the officer that had been placed under his charge. Rear Admiral Jenia Kasalle. He had heard word about her; a relatively standard officer by all appearances. Serving in the Imperial Remnant and later the First Order. She was green, though she had some relatively good intuition. Hopefully, she would speak her mind to him, unlike around ninety-five percent of the people in the First Order. They were all too scared of “disobeying chain of command” and “not getting recognition for their work”. But the truth was, offficefs who challenged an assumption or strategy based on logic and sound reasoning were the ones who you really had to watch out for. They were the ones who would make the best fleet officers. And the ones that he tended to stray towards recommending for promotions. After all, what good was an aide if all they said was “yes, sir”. By this point, he and his highly disciplined crew could accomplish most logistical feats themselves. They would often cast an intimidating presence over the crews of other vessels as a crew known for hyperefficiency, and yet be respected for their experience. But a truly good aide is the one who would challenge a flawed strategy when they saw one.
But that could wait, he could speak with Jenia later. Right now, he had more pressing matters to attend to. He needed to raise an objection in a way that wouldn’t create a scene on the bridge, but would still get his point across well enough. Nicademus’ speaking piece was done, and he would probably be expecting comments and concerns from the commanders gathered here. Garrick had always spoken candidly, it was a feature that most disliked, but the best few appreciated the honesty of their officers. Like Thrawn, or Pellaeon. They would always be willing to accept the cold, hard truth from subordinates, even if it went directly against what they thought to be correct. It was part of what made them so great.“Sir, if I may speak candidly, I do not think this is a good idea. The tactics themselves are sound, but the concept of a quick strike into enemy territory does not sit well with me. It’s too risky. Perhaps, we may stand to gain much, but if something goes wrong, if a fleet jumps on behind us, if the alliance anticipates such an attack, we could lose a lot of men to a preventable trap. Everyone at this table knows what happened at the Battle of Coruscant. I personally remember how the Separatists tried to do the exact same thing. And they lost. What’s stopping the same thing happening to us, here?”
